The new era is 2014 (38,988) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
I believe that the new era would begin by January 2014. This is because it is already August and we haven't heard any news regarding the album, plus there are others big names who will be dropping their albums at the end of the year. There is no way Mariah's label would want to compete with that. All we lambs can hope is that Mariah would take the next couple of months to relax and recharge especially her voice. Or maybe Mariah could tease us with her Unplugged 2013. I can dream, can I?

Rashidi / new video (38,987) by Edward from USA
Rashidi, it didn't make sense releasing the Jeezy remix video even around the time it was being filmed, since #Beautiful was already deflating rapidly on the charts, especially on airplay. So, having it released now doesn't make much sense, unless she includes it as a bonus or something once the new album/single is out. I think we need to have new music instead of beating on an already rotting dead horse. It worries me that some of the events that were lined up with the release of this album are just passing by, like the release of The Butler. This movie is going to be a big event, since Oprah and some other big names are acting on it. As much I love #Beautiful, I think it shouldn't be on the new album should she releases it next year. If only she came out with some extra acoustic versions of some of the songs of the new album as a token of appreciation for having people waiting so long.

With Gaga and Perry, don't expect an album this year (38,986) by Edward from USA
Katy Perry and Lady Gaga are both releasing albums in August and November respectively. I doubt Mariah's going to take the chance to get her efforts drowned by their albums, so I don't see an album release happening this year. My only concern is the fact that people get tired of waiting, and their attention shifts towards other things. I keep repeating the case with the Leona Lewis album. She put a single out, it didn't work out, and then they pushed the album back for a whole year. By the time the album got released, even though she had some great music and vocals on it, people weren't interested in it anymore. Now the focus is on Katy Perry and Gaga, and maybe it's going to keep being so until the end of the year. How could Mariah put out two epic albums basically in two years (Daydream and Butterfly) where she wrote most of the songs by herself? Now she's almost four years in working on this album, and everything has been a total mess in terms of coordinating the proper release of this album.

I wasn't saying that (38,985) by Brad Catoe from United States
Sorry, that came out wrong. I didn't mean that she hurt herself on purpose. I meant that it's rediculous that she hurt herself for a video that isn't really that important. I know there were some people that thought that and yes, they are crazy. Haha. I think Mariah was lucky in some ways to have her single be that much of a hit and then she responds by falling off the radar. The new single should be out by now.

Where is the video? (38,984) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
It's been several weeks since the shooting of the said video that caused M to dislocate her shoulder due to exhaustion. The least they could do is premiere the video on Vevo. This will at least pull some ratings for next anticipated album. Or they could release another single, Bring It On Home or Save The Day. Those two tracks have been talked about since 1902. But I do have a feeling that the next single would be a hip hop-based record with that rapper that was all over the news few weeks back.

Brad / Dionne005 / Zachary (38,983) by Musti from UK
I don't think Brad suggested Mariah hurt herself deliberately. I do see his point in that by the time Mariah began to shoot the remix video, #Beautiful had already started to decline both in airplay and sales and it was highly unlikely that a new video of yet another remix was going to push the song into the top 10. The video ended up being a wasted effort and I guess it just wasn't meant to happen in the end. I also agree that it wouldn't be a smart move to compete with Katy or Gaga as they both have selling power. It would be great to see Mariah top the Billboard 200 again and those 2 ladies would seriously jeopardise that. But I also understand that she needs to be in good shape and fully recovered before she releases anything new and starts promoting.

Ok, some of you are starting to sound crazy. You know who you are. Calm down and let the woman work. Mariah didn't hurt herself on purpose. How would you feel at work if people kept saying hurry up, dang. Can you work any slower, you said you would be done weeks ago and it's almost Christmas.

Can we get some news? (38,980) by Brad Catoe from United States
Where's the album? It's so silly to seriously injure yourself for a remix to a song that has fallen off the charts. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of #Beautiful, but just because you fall off a box don't mean you fall off the radar. The album was supposed to be out weeks ago and now there is no news. What's going on? #Beautiful has become annoying haha. She should at least throw us lambs a bone, she knows we're waiting. Also, where's the second single? What's it called? If she was ready to perform it at BET, why hasn't some sort of news leaked. Oh and now she's competing with Gaga and Katy. That's all everyone is going to be talking about for the next few months.

Mariah is working long hours (38,979) by Gilbert from USA
Okay Mariah, you mentioned you're working all these long hours and you slipped because you were exhausted from lack of sleep. Where is the Mariah freaking album? For awhile there I thought so much for Summer 2013 for you, it's practically over. Grr. I just want to rant for no special reason.

Special K (38,978) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Yeah, it's such a great song. Such a brilliant interpretation. For me, it's definitely in Mariah's top 5 songs, and is up there with All I've Ever Wanted and Whenever You Call, as being outstanding vocal displays. Mariah was compared to a lot of other females in the 90s, who were known for their belting. With these songs she showed she had more than just a voice she could belt with. There was more to her range than the others. She could experiment with different keys and vocal tones, yet still belt like the others.

Mariah's "cups" (38,977) by nikki from usa
No, this is not about her boobs. I was listening to "cups" from that Pitch Perfect movie that's been blowing up the radio stations lately and it struck me that the feel of it was a lot like Mariah's unreleased track There Goes My Heart Again. It's virtually acapella and all about the lyrics with an understated vocal. I would like a Mariah vocal song without a lot of music. She could sing a melody with her voice alone and with an interesting hook ala ("doo-do-doo-dop" like in ABMB or the la-la-la's from Close My Eyes) where she just sings sounds instead of words that will get into your head until you find a jackhammer to remove them. And major congrats to any of you who managed to follow that random train of thought.

Stephen (38,976) by Special K from USA
Hello buddy. I actually think Without You is hands down Mariah's all time best vocal performance in a song. It's damn near criminal that she didn't win a Grammy for that song. It's the way she sings in her lower registry and builds up to the climax. Banannas. Talk about a vocal track. And you're right, her interpretation of the song only speaks to her artistry.

Mariah needs a different, heavy and special song to fix her voice (38,974) by Wonwon from Indonesia
"#Beautiful" is a nice easy listening song. But that's all. It's too light for Carey. Mariah need something more heavy and different to be #1. It is her standard. My point is, looking back for Mariah hits, since day one, "Vision of love". It's an unusual ballad for everybody at that time. Connected with people but unusual. Also "Emotions". Then, "Can't let go" is a nice song, deep and very sweet. But also too light for Mariah Carey. The same case with "Forever", "So blessed" (with the same pattern as "Forever", an "Unchained melody" type of song). Then again "Against all odds" (more troubled with Westlife) or "Can't take that away". The more fresh case is "Bye bye", "I want to know what love is", "Angels cry", or "Through the rain". This time of very pop sound doesn't fit with Carey standard and voice. Too predictable, if you know what I mean. I like to hear "Bye bye" the first time, but it's not deep. I remember Roxette at that time. I don't know, I just feel it. And then the Memoirs album. "H.a.t.e.u." Really really, it's too sweet for Mariah Carey. Compare it to "We belong together". It's an unique ballad. I mean, my head can't find the same pattern song with "We belong together". Also with "My all", "Vision of love", "Love takes time", even "Don't forget about us", "Without you". It's very easy listening. It's not to a number #1 in US, but very big outside the US. Because the US market is a hard market. Mariah never had a #1 single with an usual pattern of song. Not even "Hero".

Edward (38,972) by KeShawn Taylor from United States
Edward, sorry for the confusion. I'm not saying by any means that Mariah should resort to using techno/dance incorporated her music. I was just referring to the fact that with many other high profile female artists returning this year, Mariah has to make sure she brings her absolute A-game to the table to reclaim her throne. Which I believe she is well on her way to doing. But with both Katy Perry and Lady Gaga launching their new singles this month, it's time to revamp.

Meriweather / Stephen (38,971) by Licia from USA
I almost died when they switched from The One to Boy I Need You. I like Boy, but The One is a better song. Even the remix kills the Boy remix in my opinion (that Goodbye Love sample by Guy totally pooped all over anything she tried to remix on Boy). The One had so much more potential. I was one ticked off lamb watching the making of the video that day. I could have kicked the dang tv. Can you tell that The One is one of my favorite songs from CB? Lol.

Triumphant (38,970) by George Golden from UK
I just listened to "Triumphant Pulse Remix" and I almost shed a tear. Why was that remix not the original? Mariah would have had another number one with that one. Why is this era so shaky? All other artists are aiming for her crown and yet she has stalled. Mariah, please get it together. No one wants to listen to you singing with rappers anymore. It's so tired. Re-invent yourself, your looks, your sound, we need something fresh. Rnb is great because it can have any type of vibe, retro, uptempo dance, acoustic. It just can be anything.

Meriwether86 (38,969) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
You make some really good points. I didn't actually think of it in those tems, but I agree. I think The One was a great song, but at that time nobody wanted Mariah to succeed, so no matter how good a song was, she couldn't buy a hit back then. I don't think it would've been a hit, unless it was E=MC2 to TEOM.

Ariana Grande (38,968) by Jenny from South Africa
I turned on the radio for my favourite local station and I heard one of the djs saying he thinks Ariana is just a Mariah wannabe. It made me smile. And he's unbiased when it comes to Mariah. He's not a major fan or a hater.

Edward, it's the video version that everyone has heard. It is different from the album version. Keshawn, you just scared the s*it out of me. What if MC decides to try to hit #1 by recording one of those pop/electric/dance songs that are popular now? Eww, I hate them.

Singles that should've been #1 (38,965) by KeShawn Taylor from United States
As for singles, I was shocked that did not reach #1 in the US, the first one definitely being "Without You". It was such a huge hit and I believe set the standard of what a pop ballad should sound like when it is a remake. "When You Believe" with Whitney I also expected to be more successful than it was. While it was a huge success worldwide for both women, it did not compare to either of their greatest hits as solo artists, though Whitney's popularity had declined as well as her public image at the time of its release. I won't even get into the singles released from Butterfly and Rainbow; those singles suffered tremendously from the lack of support from her label, especially instant classics like "Breakdown", "The Roof", and "Can't Take That Away". I did expect "Bye Bye" to at least crack the top 10, as did I for "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time", which I thought would definitely be the song of the summer of 2008. All of the singles from Memoirs definitely did not lead up to my expectations for them. More specifically, I definitely believe that "Obsessed", which was all over radio that summer, and "I Want to Know What Love Is", would've been sure fire #1 singles for MC. Due to lack of promotion and the music business gearing more towards a pop/techno phase at this time, these singles had little to any chance of making a sufficient impact on the charts.

Should've been #1/singles (38,964) by KeShawn Taylor from United States
This is a very interesting topic that I often find myself trying to find battling in my mind. Before I get to singles that should've been #1, how about songs that should've been singles? For her first three albums, I actually agree with single selection, though I would've loved to see "Til The End of Time" or "All I've Ever Wanted" be released as singles. The fact that "Underneath the Stars" and "Forever" never got commercial releases disappoints me. On airplay alone, "Forever" was charting strongly. These two would've definitely been hit records for Mariah. The same to be said for "Butterfly", "The Roof", and "Breakdown". "Breakdown" is undeniably the greatest Mariah Carey single to never get commercial release. There's no denying that at the peak of her crossover reign this song would've been a huge hit. It also baffles me the limited release given to "Can't Take That Away". Still to this day, I see this as one of her top three inspirational ballads. I also believe that "Against All Odds" should've been released in the United States. This is arguable Mariah's greatest remake. "Lead The Way" from Glitter is classic Mariah, and if promoted properly could've definitely provided assisting the backlash that Glitter was receiving. E=MC2 as a whole just didn't release proper singles. Why "Migrate", "Side Effects", "I'm That Chick", "Love Story", and "For The Record" were not singles is insane. These were records crying for radio airplay. Also, "Ribbon" and "Inseparable".
