Number of songs for The Art Of Patience (38,862) by Gilbert from USA
I go back to what I had mentioned before, just glad I read someone finally say the same thing, all this time that has passed she should have more then enough material by now. What is her plan/managements plan? To release an album, then later release another edition with additional songs to make more money? That's a rip off. Sorry but it just is, I feel all this time making songs not all of them are going to make the cut, unless as another fan said she does a 2 disc album. That's rare if she did, but I highly doubt that would happen. For me, I don't want another Memoirs or TEOM album, even though all of us have different taste, I still go hands down for E=MC2 (she just got lazy and management had horrible promotion for that album). That's when I went hell nah.

What is going on with this era? Why all the studio pics? Mariah is letting her fans down. Beautiful was not promoted properly, hence it didn't hit the top ten. Then she pushes the album release date. So frustrating. Mariah has the voice, to make a hit album is a piece of cake for her, but her problem is the type of music she wants to release. Hip hop. Artists evolve and try new things, but she has been stuck with this hip hop thing since 1997. Please Mariah, get it together. We need a [...], not a lame number one song. Bause if you look at the charts, the songs that do well are really lame. An album with amazing ballads and big uptempo numbers will be a big hit. Forget about hitting number one with your first single, please, those days are gone.

Yeah, as much as I do love seeing Mariah in the studio, you'll love to hear new material. How many songs has she recorded by now? I can't stand to think of all the songs that she has recorded that we will never hear , unless of course she releases a double disk album.

Edward/Stacey (38,859) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
I agree. I've been saying it for a while, but Mariah most definitely does need to just get back to good old songwriting, in the mold of Daydream. She can show these new "artists" a thing or two about how it's really done. Despite my criticisms of her voice, as a studio singer, and as a songwriter, I have a lot of faith in her artistry, and I do think she can produce a top quality album, if she accepts that she's not just on her own songs to sing the hook, and actually delivers. Stacey, like you, I'm bored of the studio pics. Just give us some music lol. We've been waiting since 1902 dammit.

New studio pic (38,858) by Stacey from USA
Looks great. But really, is anyone else tired of seeing in studio pics? I want a dang album already, lol.

Is it time for Mariah to go back to basics? (38,857) by Edward from USA
Ariana Grande is definitely ripping off and capitalizing on Mariah's early sound from Daydeam. I was debating whether Mariah should go back to basics on the new album. I would be lying if I said I don't miss her Daydream/Butterfly sound. When I say sound I don't necessarily refer to the voice, but the arrangements and production. I hope she shocks us all and shows Ariana how is done, lol. I think Ariana is sweet and I like her two singles so far. On another note, I can't understand how Britney's mediocre song from The Smurf has charted on Billboard, but Almost Home never did. I think Almost Home was pop perfection.

No, that is not Mariah picking cotton in that picture. Oh I got to go see this movie, lol.

The Art Of... Mariah (38,855) by Anonymous from
I want an album like The Emancipation of Mimi that has that retro soul feel with lyrics written solely by Mariah. She used to write her lyrics by herself, but lately she's been writing her lyrics with at least two other songwriters. Babyface and Walter would be great for the ballads and Mike Will Made It and some other unknown producers for the uptempos. Happy Perez who produced #Beautiful would also be a good collaborator for MC.

"Art if letting go" album cover (38,854) by clueey23 from USA
If this is the album cover, it would make sense, because when you are doing promo ie. GMA, that was a specific look for the album promo. And she also had the same hairstyle in the #Beautiful video. I think the cover and look is pretty and sexy at the same time. It's like a bedhead look. Very relaxed, very natural looking, not a load of extensions. It's cute and I like that album cover. The black and white was obviously a layout mockup for the ad before she changed the date. I've worked in retail and logistics for Abercrombie and Gap and there is always a certain way the entire store has to be set up. So I don't believe it's photoshop at all. Who knows if she'll change direction with the look though.

Nikki "album cover" (38,853) by Gilbert from USA
I knew it, I couldn't think where I had seen that same hair style and look. You hit it right on the nail. That is where I seen that image/look before.

Babyface (38,852) by Anonymous from
I hope Mariah works with Walter and Babyface on her new album. After reading that article about Ariana and listening to the song "Baby, I" that Babyface wrote and produced for her, I think Babyface has still got it. I love Melt Away and Never Forget You and I think Mariah should write with him again.

Enquirer should inquire (38,850) by nikki from usa
Apparently, the tabloid isn't familiar with Nick's Wild n' Out show that's coming out, rather returning by popular demand, and he's being paid millions for it. MC's worried about mixing her marriage with business? Why in the world did she have Nick direct all of those music videos for her then, I wonder? As for the "album cover" - it looks awfully, like a shot taken from her live performance with the pretty pink dress that broke. I am excited though, if they're starting to prepare for its arrival, then it might be out before September. Next single please.

Lee Daniels' The Butler / Aresenio Hall Show / Ariana (38,849) by clueey23 from USA
I can't wait to see MC next month in "The butler". This movie looks awesome. Arsenio Hall is coming back out with a late night show? Cool. It would be great if MC debut the new single on the show, like she did when she first came out with "Vision of love". I don't believe the rumors between them not one bit and Nick seems like a really secure person, so I just don't believe the tabloid gossip at all. I don't see it at all with the Ariana thing. She can sing, but she reminds me of a pop tart with no depth. It's cute, she's cute, the song is cute, but there is nothing else there for me. I agree that she has a lot of growing to do to find her own voice. She is really jocking MC though. From the look, to the album title being "Daydreaming, come on, it's kinda sick. lol. I also enjoyed the blooper clips. Funny and just fun, at the same time taking care of business. Gotta love MC. And those vocals as always were on point.

Arsenio Inquirer article (38,848) by enwar00 from usa
I swear that's like the dumbest article I've ever read. How does someone even come up with such ridiculousness. Ok, I'm done posting for now, sorry for flooding the board lol.

Deedre #Hermosa (38,847) by enwar00 from usa
Deedre, #Hermosa, I feel the same way about that video from the first time I saw it. I don't mind the song at all either, and I wasn't offended by the remixes either. The way I looked at them was, take it or leave it. Actually my friend djs at a club and Thursday night I stopped by so he played the Sidney Sampson remix. I was excited I have to say. It was like the highlight of my night, because mostly it was a boring night otherwise.

I had to think about this for a minute and then I forgot to respond, but I have a few single covers, not just one. Anytime You Need A Friend, the one with the purple tint, she's just so pretty, Underneath The Stars, Dreamlover, The Roof, and We Belong Together. Pretty much in that order. Favorite album cover is easy for me, Butterfly, but the alternate cover where she's looking to the side and her hair is all over, you know that one? Wow I just remembered she signed a poster of that pic when I had met her at a signing. I still need to frame that.

I Love The Way (38,845) by enwar00 from usa
Personally, I'd never heard or read any comparisons between Ariana Grande and Mariah before this board, so I can't comment or be irritated on any of that. But I can comment on what I've heard with my own ears. I've only heard her one song I Love The Way, and the first time I heard it on the radio a couple months ago, I thought it was Mariah. I wasn't sure, because it was only the last part where its like background vocals and the chorus, but between that and the beat, it was enough to call the radio station and ask if they were playing a new Mariah song. The dj was like, no, its Ariana Grande, but Mariah does have a new song out. This was after #Beautiful had been on the radio. In any case, I like that song, and I remember being excited in those few seconds that it was the new Mariah song.

Ariana Grande / Daydream (38,844) by Stacey from USA
For Ariana to have a long lasting career, she has to find her own style. Copying someone else's style will only get you so far. The reason MC, Celine, and Whitney have done so well was because their styles and voices were so different, original. MC came onto the scene and people stopped in their tracks asking, "Who is that?" Trust me, I had the same reaction the first time I heard her voice. I agree with everything said about Daydream. It's why that album is a part of my email address, etc. Plus, I love to "daydream" as well, if I can get a few minutes away from my kids, lol. The album is superb because it is such a perfect balance between pop and R&B. Those of us older fans who love her earlier work 90-93, the more sugary stuff, still have those types of songs on Daydream, but with a bit more R&B flare that R&B fans can appreciate. Know what I mean? I think it's why I love TEOM so much. There again is that perfect balance between pop and R&B that so many people can listen to.

Album cover leak (38,843) by Gilbert from USA
Hi everyone. I can't get it out of my head, but does anyone recognize that picture? I feel I have seen it somewhere before. At least a similar pose. I actually like it, the less Photoshop the better.

The next Mariah (38,842) by Lee from UK
I concur with those who are irritated by every female who can hit a high note being called the next Mariah. There will never be another Mariah, ever. However, with that being said, Ariana Grande has a very pleasing voice and nice powerful high notes. Everybody who knows that I'm obsessed with Mariah has called me up over the last few months saying "I heard this girl on the radio, and she sounds just like Mariah used to." I instantly know they are talking about Ariana. Again, she isn't the next Mariah, but at the same time she took on Mariah's Emotions effortlessly. You can tell Mariah is a massive influence on her and her style but there is denying her voice. As for Leona, she has zero personality, but her tone is so different from Mariah's in such a pleasing full sounding way.

I'm glad you got where I was coming from. I liked your point re Chaka and Mariah both having pitch perfect when singing in a spontaneous/free style. I had noticed this too. Chaka is a great singer and performer. One of my favourite older performers.

Others (38,840) by B from UK
I always hate it when people compare MC to Leona. Leona has zero personality and is so boring to watch. MC is the whole package and keeps you entertained so much more than dreary Lewis. I wonder if this was the actual album cover that was leaked or if, like sometimes in the UK, when the artwork is unavailable, they stick in a picture of the artist wherever they can. BBC Radio 1 does this, as does HMV.

Re: To all lambs (38,839) by DivergentIntel from United States of America
I think Ariana Grande does have a nice voice. I think a lot of people compare her to MC, and they are using her style to appeal to people, but it can backfire on her. The record execs working with and backing Leona Lewis tried marketing her as the next Mariah Carey down to looks and photos and outfits and while it worked for her first two albums, it eventually backfired. People need to find their own originality. It's interesting how Mariah Carey was compared to Whitney Houston, even though Mariah was very original in her own right and did things and took things one step further by composing her very own material and songs. Mariah Carey is a legend. Others should be honored to even be compared to queen Mariah.

Brandon / Ariana Grande (38,838) by Musti from UK
I just watched Ariana's cover of Emotions on YouTube lol. It sounds like karaoke. Her high notes are impressive, I didn't think she could go that high. But she imitates Mariah's style far too much. Her song The Way is catchy, but it sounds like a desparate attempt at recreating a Mariah/JD moment. She's only 20 and I'm sure she idolised Mariah growing up. But unless she finds her own voice, she won't go too far.

Daydream (38,837) by Anonymous from
Daydream was the blueprint that Butterfly improved on. Like The Emancipation Of Mimi was the blueprint that E=MC2 was based on/followed.
