That is so funny, because the next cd I listened to earlier was cd 2 of The Remixes, and of course My All/Stay Awhile came on. I was actually going to post how much I love love love the Make it Last remix.

My All/Stay Awhile, Stephen (37,332) by Stacey from USA
On the subject of old school, I sure do love this remix. I also love it even better when she gives us fans the no-rap version. It's one of my favorites. Stephen, I hear you. It's a nice effort, perfect for a Disney movie. I will say it didn't grab me on first listen. I had to give the song a chance. The bridge still sounds disjointed. Ultimately for me, I'm just glad to hear that voice. I hope that's the kind of voice she brings to the new album mixed with some hot beats.

I'm listening to the My All/Breakdown single with the different mixes on it. I still love it, especially The Roof.

Style (37,330) by nikki from usa
I'll give Mariah this: she's honest. She said she'd be more of a mentor than a judge and she's brought that. Even if she thinks a performance sucked, she won't say it, she'll tell them where they shined the best in the past and gives advice. If all else fails she just talks about how their high points made her feel. You can tell she's not okay with critique as much. I've tried to give Nicki a shot, but she's too green. Nicki's value is for entertainment and nothing more. Mariah's helpful but most people view that as boring. Actually doing the job would come across that way I guess. Nicki seems more interested in who acts like her or prowling for her baby daddy then being useful. I don't even find her criticisms constructive. This is supposed to be about vocals, not performance, and her "favorite group" is the one who couldn't harmonize or remember the lyrics. She did the finalists a huge injustice. By constantly insisting on "performance", they started to concentrate more on performing than their vocals. That got too many talents sent home early. I don't really get Randy's judging style, Nicki is too green, but I give Keith and Mariah the medal for most constructive and helpful of the judges.

Mariah on Kelly and Michael/Almost Home (37,329) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
She looked gorgeous and came across really well. I know I'm late, but Almost Home is just okay to me. Doesn't really get me going if I'm honest.

Yehey (37,328) by Andrew Lo from Philippines
For an artist on her 23rd year, it is somewhat splendid to see Mimi on the charts again, when the likes of Rihanna has 2 songs on the charts. Mimi has disproved the saying of "have beens". You cannot see Celine or Barbra chart with their songs. But with Mariah, it's just amazing. But I kind of feel sad because the song has only been downloaded 18,000 times. Does she have 18,000 lambs only? I am really sad, because even the lambs don't download it. And yes, she should sing that live on Idol, perhaps next week on the day the movie goes out along with the video. Such a historic week next week. March 8 is a Friday. I can't wait.

Almost Home (37,327) by Stacey from USA
Some were jumping the gun calling the song a flop long before other factors like the movie's release and video premiere happened. If the song tanks after those two things, then yeah, maybe you can call it one. I hardly think that's going to happen. Doing a lot of promotion once the video and movie drop would help things a ton. Plus, she should definitely sing the song live on AI. Once people hear that song as the ending credits roll, the song should rise on the charts. All of this is good news for her upcoming album. Now this is a buzz single type song to get people ready for her album drop.

Live performance of Almost Home (37,326) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
If obtaining number one is the goal, then Mariah needs to do as many of live performances that she can gets. She just missed her opportunity to perform this song live on the Michael & Kelly show. I hope she would perform on the Jimmy Fallon show.

Almost Home (37,325) by Gilbert from USA
Need I say more? I knew this song would reach its potential. We just needed to give it time. Congratulations to Mariah. I believe there will be more impact once the music video and movie are released. Way to go. Hits take time. Love you MC.

Congrats to a queen (37,324) by RadChad from United States
I hope once the video premieres it flies up the Hot 100. On a side note, MC has been looking strikingly beautiful on Idol these past couple weeks and I'm loving her judging style as well. I'm happy we finally get to see what the panel is really like without all the extra editing.

Mariah's dress on the showing of American idol 2/27 (37,320) by Delilah Salgado from United States
Thank you for bringing class to the American Idol stage. Can you please tell me who designed your dress for the 2/27 showing of American Idol? There is a white overlay material at the bust line, absolutely breath taking. I am and will forever be one of your biggest fans. Thank you.

Nick is right (37,317) by lashonda collins from usa
Nick is right. Almost Home is a soundtrack tune and it may do very well. "Prince of Egypt", the lambs remember how well that movie did along with "When You Believe". I hope that it gets put on her new album as a bonus track though. Wouldn't Disney make a killing? Because reguardless of how good this next record is, it's going to sell at least a million copies. I wonder how that whole thing works. Would Disney let her do that?

Almost Home is a soundtrack song (37,316) by Nick from Canada
How many soundtrack songs dominate the charts? This is just a song for Disney. She might get a Golden Globe nomination, Oscar nomination and maybe even a Grammy nomination for Song for Visual Media, but I am in no way expecting this song and sound from Mariah to dominate any popular music chart. It might do well in Adult AC. Let's not put unrealistic expectations on this track. I adore this song for one reason and that's the purity with which Mariah sings it. I personally don't care if Mariah hits #1 or not anymore, because I feel like she has accomplished more than 99% of all musical artists and will go down as one of the most talented and decorated vocalists, songwriters, and producers of all time. I just want to hear "the voice" minus that annoying whisper register. I want to be taken back to the days of Emotions or Music Box when her voice was strong and could do no wrong. "Almost Home" comes close for me and thank you Mariah for that.

Fans can "push", but not make success (37,314) by nikki from usa
I disagree, nothing's changed. If American Idol is anything to go by, Mariah's still the music staple. There are still kids in their teens and 20's who support her and her older fans grew up to have kids of their own who are fans. This doesn't change the fact that Mariah Carey has never had any success without the general public backing her up. Mariah can have 10,000 hardcore "lambs" buying 10 copies of everything she puts out, and that will still be only 100,000 sold. That doesn't even put a dent into Mariah's sales. The only thing that can do is "push" her sales over the gold, platinum, or multi-platinum line if she's already almost there due to the general public. Triumphant wasn't released to pop radio by Def Jam, only Hip hop stations. Yet, it topped BET for several weeks and still went to #1 on the Dance Charts due to the remixes. Memoirs had a top 10 hit and her second Christmas album had 2 #1 seasonal hits as well. She's still racking up #1's. I think everyone's jumping the gun with this Disney song, because it was leaked early and wasn't originally intended to be out this soon. Any promotion for it wasn't scheduled until later. The general public knows MC's coming out with a new song, but so far the media only hinted toward a clip of it. So, I doubt the majority know anymore than that for right now. Relax.

I feel every word that you wrote. This is how I feel it. I have been on this board writing messages since the beginning. There have been many ups and downs over the years, and many "fights" on this board. Many new fans have written here, telling people that some fans are not a real fan, me included. Well, I am still here, that's more than I can say about them. When I was 14, Mariah was the only singer for me. She still is my favorite, but I love so many genres in music, and I always hope that Mariah's music will evolve as she gets older. I am not always sure about that last one. I like this new song. This is so much more what I wish for, than Triumphant.

Hmm (37,312) by Giselle #1 Mariah Critic from USA
Almost Home is a good song, perfect Disney song in 2013. I love it and I bought and I don't care if others don't like it. I'm more excited on the album. I'm hoping it has a mature sound, Mariah's fans are grown adults now and it's time to ditch songs that are targeted towards teens. I'd rather do a banging album that's mature and kinda 60's, 70's retro R&B/Pop, as long as her hearts in it. Mariah hasn't been into a album since "TEOM''. E=MC2 was her last great album and she and her team and IDJ just dropped the ball. I noticed Mariah started going down a slump when Benny left right after TMB. I kinda wish Mariah would mix things up and try other producers, She needs a new sound and a new look. There were songs that were released that I wish Mariah wrote like Kelly Clarkson's ''Stronger''.

Mariah Carey Almost Home (37,310) by Andrew Lo from Philippines
I could not agree more. It's Mimi's job to release good material. In fairness to Rihanna and Katy Perry, I don't get the wow factor with their bubble-gum songs, but I have come to like some of their materials. But when it comes to Mimi, we always expect something great, so hard to be Mimi, because she is D-standard. What is really wrong in the equation? Why would she release a song on February 19 and never would even she promote it elsewhere? Is she tired? Then why would she even bother releasing a song in the first place? She should go out and make people know about her song. Just go out and sing it live. Don't expect people to guess "Oh mariah has a new song". She's 43 and most probably her fans would be at the same age I would guess, so amidst all their busy lives with their families, their children, their crappy marriages or whatever, they deserve something from Mariah. I want to see her on TV. She is not Rihanna, 31 or something, who has all the energy in the world to come to Victoria's Secret and sing Diamonds and go to X Factor UK and get wet seeing diamonds, but atleast do a little bit of promotion. She needs it. Badly. I can't wait for March 8, the release date of her video and again, the live shows on Idol. She cannot not sing that there, otherwise, why would she even be there? Almost Home is an amazing pop song. It's a big song. I am very objective, I like it because it's amazing, not because it's Mariah's song. Others will too, just do something about it.

Mariah's success/Chase, Nick, Jacker (37,308) by PJW from The U.K.
Chase and Nick, you wrote it perfectly. To say I've been a dedicated fan is an understatement. At 31 I've been a fan since 1990 and after leaving much else behind, I've still got a box in my cupboard with every album, single and import in it. I campaigned tirelessly for her career, radio requested at home and abroad, went to the tours, the tv shows and spent many an 8 hour stretch outside a hotel. But my, and Mariah's, priorities changed. I no longer have the time or devotion to go request or multi buy like crazy and nor do I think we should. Despite radio resistance in the last decade, 2005 alone shows us that a hit can still be a hit if the work and passion are put into it. I doubt there were 200 million phone ins for WBT during its peak week and besides, at this point we also know how detrimental mass requesting and purchasing can be. Believe me, I'm always proud of Mariah's chart positions but it's not Billboard that gives me that tingle at the top of my neck, it's that voice, those tones, that arrangement, that fluidity sometimes not heard since the 90s deep cuts. That's what I love and cherish right now, not refreshing mediabase for another +0.55 rise. Let's enjoy her and nothing else.

Mariah's chart success (37,306) by Nick from Canada
I want Mariah's chart success to be because she released an undeniable hit with mass appeal, not because her fans helped manufacture success. I don't want a Mariah song to hit #1 and then drop to #50 the following week. Longevity on the charts is a big deal. As a huge Mariah fan, it really isn't my job to make Mariah successful. First and foremost, that's Mariah's job by writing, recording, and releasing good material. When she does that, she's usually very successful.

Edward / Jaker20 (37,305) by Chase from USA
I am a fan who has backed up in recent years. For many years, I purchased every Mariah album and single as soon as it was released, even after I began to feel Mariah's music had become inconsistent and no longer represented what I had loved about her. However, I haven't jumped ship. I've been visiting this site since 1998 and always give Mariah's new material a chance. After several years of fairly consistent disappointment, I no longer rely on her music to provide the enjoyment and comfort that it did during the height of my support. My tastes have shifted along with my declining expectations. I have developed a more diverse music collection and discovered other artists who meet my musical preferences. I think you'll find that my story matches many other fans, particularly those who have grown from childhood into adulthood. That doesn't mean I have betrayed Mariah or am no longer a fan. It means I am not as devoted to her career. I am happy for Mariah. She has evolved musically and matured as a woman, wife and mother.

Promotion and support (37,304) by Ray from Malaysia
I think everybody has to do their part in order for a song, an album, or an artist to be successful. Yes, I do agree many older fans have left the boat a long time ago. With the right song (and vocals, of course), they might just return. Fans should go out and support, but it should not just come from fans alone. A song should also reach a broader audience. The artist and his/her team must do their bit in releasing quality material and then promoting it properly. I may be wrong with my observation, but Mariah or her team seemed to lose their focus from promoting E=MC2 after she got married. And then, her focus shifted from promoting Memoirs to talking about the movie Precious almost all the time during that period. Again, I may be wrong. But I do agree that AI is a strong platform to promote. Perhaps she will utilize the opportunity at one point or another. Lets hope she holds her focus this time. Just my opinion, from another country in another continent. Love.
