He was her boss and husband. During those years, her personal and professional lives were one in the same. No matter how long ago the divorce happened, when you marry someone, all aspects are forever linked. It's a part of your past. And so when folks talk about MC's career, TM is always going to be a part of that discussion because of their personal connection. They were also husband and wife at one point, an undeniable fact. My problem is the fact that Mariah is rarely given credit for what she did for Sony and Tommy. It was a two way thing. A lot of that was perpetuated by him and fueled by a patronizing media and fan base. He also continued to manipulate her image after the breakup. And that is not something a good exec would do. I doubt MC would be constantly linked to TM if she didn't marry the guy. That is an important detail not to be overlooked. She looked uncomfortable though, but that could've been due to her illness. I hope she is a bit more lively and spontaneous during the live shows. I would love to watch the interview so I can see what happened. I did get to see the crack about Nicki, not knowing she sang and thinking she just rapped. So when I heard that I thought it was funny, because a friend who loves her kept insisting she was a singer and I was not convinced. I've never heard her sing nor do I care to. New album is been a long time coming (37,067) by Carol from Spain For the next album, I got great expectations. I'm not looking for another Daydream or Music Box style, but I hope she brings back something outside the box that blows anyone away. Honestly? Any album is better then no album at all. The world's been without her music for so long that I need my MC collection to grow an inch this year. Mariah always delivers something different. TJ (37,066) by Carol from Spain Regarding the movie, I've honestly seen worse. I liked the story, liked the image and the 80's feeling the movie carries troughout. However, I think she didn't chose the best director for the movie. When I referred to Glitter, I meant the album. Tommy stole her collaboration with Ja Rule and gave the concept to J Lo, because she was high at the time. The album, for me, is her best, after Daydream. She dared, she was doing something beyond her time and people just didn't get it. Also the events of that week didn't help. Tommy was responsible for the failure of Glitter the album. Nikki (37,065) by RibbonB from USA Lol. I definitely agree that Clive is not tied to Whitney or Alicia for that matter the way many including the media tie TM to Mariah. The media and many others have been very patronizing to Mariah with regard to her success. The thing I love, is she endured and overcame it all and in the face of all kinds of backlash and venom being thrown her way. The real gag is now he's releasing his book on the day before her new idol debut, I'm sure is for maximum exposure for himself. If anything good came of his little "tell-all" is he shows himself for what he truly is - delusional and a lot full of himself. People can play a role in your life, or even in your success, but it doesn't make them responsible for it. Even TM gives Brenda K Starr credit for handing him the tape, but that doesn't make her "responsible" for MC's success, she did do a good deed, what a good friend would do. TM did what a good exec should do with a great talent. Mariah did what only of of the greatest singers and songwriters could do and she is responsible for her success, with the help of God. Something like her first album, Music Box, Daydream or TEOM in success. If I was in charge, I would not go for "RnB", but pop music. Pearls before swine (37,062) by nikki from usa Back in the 90's, I always thought it was weird that whenever Mariah was mentioned, so was Tommy for "finding" her. She showed up in front of him with the hits in her hand - how hard did he look? But, Clive wasn't mentioned everytime Whitney did something, why isn't Mottola after Celine for signing and promoting her? This doesn't happen to anyone else, just Mariah. Now, Mottola isn't mentioned anymore. Mariah showed up at the right time when Sony was near bankruptcy. They hadn't had a hit in years. He needed her and she saved his ass. She could've gone to Warner and been just fine - they also thought she'd be the next big thing. He even admits Mariah went against him in '95 and on, so he had nothing to do with those hits. After Mariah leaves Sony, she continues to sell millions and get #1's. Tommy spent millions trying to get Thalia to crossover including a magazine called Thalia! that went nowhere. Now, he's using Mariah's name for sales. Tommy's career is gone and forgottoe about while Mariah Carey's on. (Wednesday 9 January 2013; 6:45)

Don't let Mariah fool you, she could make Nicki cry in thirty seconds if she really wanted too. At this point in her career, a queen bee cannot be bothered by the likes of an ant. The ant being Nicki. So Mariah's not even wasting her time. She's beautiful, she has a real family now, something she has always wanted. She's a goldmine, she doesnt have to work another day in her life, she works because that's what makes her happy. I heard what I think was a diss track to Mariah by Nicki and it featured a couple other artists, they were implying that she couldn't get work and that she was washed up. Which really pissed me off, can I use that word here? Nicki is the one who should really be worried about work because a few milly in the bank aint nothing. She aint got Mimi's paper, you feel me?
