KATSEYE (111,060)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
KATSEYE was asked at the VMAs red carpet about their favorite Mariah song and none of them could name 1 song. Just 1 girl was like (My All) and the rest were like so confused and one girl asked the girl who named the song to give her a title as well. Now I don't know this group well, but apparently they're popular but for them not to know a single song by the legend that is Mariah Carey is insane. Like I don't expect them to know her full catalogue but if nothing else at least say AIWFCIY. And there are so many viral Mariah songs on TikTok. Also you're on a red carpet where she's winning a major award, you should have been more prepared to answer that question.

Jamie, what I don't get is why Mariah puts herself in those sky-high heels when she knows people will drag her for not moving. She could easily wear something more comfortable. Did you see the height of those heels? I don't see the point of wearing heels if you can't gracefully rock them.

You think she will sell about 463k in the US alone? You are an optimist, I have to say that. I am more in the 15k area because it's 2025. I hope you are closest.

Daydream (110,973)
by MusicfanJ from Germany

But "Long ago" sounds more urban than "Slipping away". Anyway I think "Daydream" is pure perfection as it is. But it's interesting that "Open arms" seems to be a less favourite here. For me it's one of her best covers. It's on the top 5 for sure.

Her voice on Daydream is just like butter. Smooth, nuanced, powerful but never too showy. Daydream is pure perfection. In my humble opinion, "Butterfly" is her magnum opus though. That album could've been titled "Metamorphosis". When I saw Mariah on "Honey", so sexy and beutiful, for a moment I questioned my sexuality.

I just played it and it took me through a time warp to when I was a tween. When I first got Daydream, I mostly listened to it on my Walkman. I used to lay in bed for hours listening to it while reading the lyrics trying to learn them. Or staring at her face because she was the most beautiful girl to me. I wondered what it must feel like to be her. Like, to be that beautiful and be able to sing like that.

That'll do for now. Keeping it to the OG Sony run.

My favorite Mariah music videos are: Fantasy Obsessed Honey Breakdown Anytime You Need A Friend Loverboy Dreamlover
I just watched a bunch, just to make sure I wasn't forgetting any. MC really does need to step it up with the videos. She needs to take advantage that she looks so good right now and make a bunch.

Here For It All tracklist (110,617)
by TJ from Norway

It started a long time before that. It's always been changing, but in 1997 it was already damaged. She could still sing very well, but it didn't have the same qualities as before. I have always blamed her airy song technique for destroying it.

Taylor Swift (110,442)
by TJ from Norway
| |
|
|
I don't see the reason why it will be bad for Mariah. Mariah was the goddess in the 90's and some years of the 2000's. Taylor is clearly in that position now. Different fan bases, her lambs are at the age of 8-16, maybe 20, and Mariahs around 40-50+. Taylor Swift will be dethroned one day. Maybe not this year, but not far away in the future. Everyone has a peak. Mariah is not in that league at this point of her career, and that's totally fine.

I think Taylor Swift is going to drop The Life of a Showgirl on 09.26. She has not announced the release date yet, but peorders have started. If she does drop on 09.26, it will be bad for MC. Let's hope that is not the case. Vinyls are suppose to ship by 10.13. So that leaves 10.3 and 10.10 as the other drop dates.

Mariah's reaction to Katy Perry skyrockets (110,418)

I agree 100% with you on that one. She was so flirty and present back in 1997 in that interview. I wonder why she wears those huge sunglasses inside and it's like she's on weed. Really slow.

by Jamie from UK

Unfortunately this is Mariah now, over medicated and numb. How can she expect her songs to have any energy when she's like this. When they showed the old interview with Jamie Theakston, it showed a complete contrast in her. There she was lively, interactive and engaged. Now it's like her batteries are half full at most, she's disengaged, slowed down and flat. Yes she has some fun moments but the energy is low and doesn't let herself go or relax like she once did.

I know. At least. And all those remixes. I think my ranking would be something like: 1. Vision of Love (what a voice, memories) 2. Dreamlover (the video, the remixes) 3. Fantasy (doesn't sound dated) 4. Honey (the new Mariah) 5. #Beautiful (summer vibes) 6. Emotions (unplugged version) 7. Loverboy (nice remixes) 8. It's like That (cool video) 9. Through the Rain (nice melody) 10. Heartbreaker (just another Dreamlover) 11. Obsessed (I don't know) 12. Touch my Body (not my cup of tea) 13. Type Dangerous (forgettable) 14. With You?
