Random thoughts about aging and beauty (110,323) by Edward from USA The things I see posted on this site daily make me want to scream into a pillow, but I hold back, because I just know some of you would turn around and say I'm being dramatic from watching too many Latin soap operas. Some of you speak with so much confidence, yet you're loud and wrong, and all I can do is sit there in stunned silence. The urge to jump in and reprimand a few of you is very real, but instead, I just let a couple of dramatic tears fall and softly whisper "Cry." like it's the final scene of "Marimar", my favorite "Telenovela" from the 90s. You all really need to stop shaming Mariah. Only a handful of men, maybe ten, tops, have ever had the honor of touching her boobs, and not a single one of them was a surgeon. A woman? Maybe, but I doubt it. We've all known for decades that the iconic lift her boobs have experienced comes from industrial-strength push-up bras she's been rocking since the Rainbow era. This isn't breaking news, duh. As for her face, it moves, just not in public. She's not risking getting caught in a bad angle, so she keeps it locked in diva mode anytime there's a camera around. Remember Mariah is multiracial, that little hint of Asian in her eyes is probably some distant Latin ancestor or something, we do have a little Asian ancestry in Latin America too. So I went on a "Mariah acting" binge with her different roles and was reading some of the comments on how much people were really amazed and feeling her acting. Makes me think why couldn't she get a really good acting coach and really continue a serious acting career. If she ever decides on retiring from music, I'd love to see her in some serious roles. I was going through a list over Mariah's most streamed songs and realised that [It's like that] has only around 250k spins/streams on Spotify. Migrate has 5,3 million and what's really shocking is that that horrible song Infinity has more than 16 millions. I have nothing against some fun songs/lyrics but not the complete album. We all know her voice has changed but what I don't understand is, when she was so young she wrote like a grown-up person. Now she's a grown-up and the lyrics are so girly. Normally it's the opposite. Is it all to be trendy and to get to charts again? Wouldn't lyrics that are less girly not work better? Just a question, please don't get it wrong. Something funny, I didn't know what Fendi is. Lol, a luxury brand, now I know. I love the ensemble, she looks really nice. I just wish her face would show it too, she looks miserable, she looked happier in the kitchen clip she did. So maybe I'm wrong. Also, I found my Bose speaker and I can hear the boom more on that speaker. People were saying the high parts (that I think sound strained) sounded "raw" and they love it. Part of the main problem "OG's" have is Mariah's leaning towards black music and succeeding at it too - R&B/Hiphop specifically. That's why they will always have a problem with this "New Mariah", so to speak, because that Tommy version was molded to cater to a white audience. Let's call it as it is. However, that's not the real her, never really was to begin with - check "Vision of Love", that's a singer who's main and only influence is black music, gospel, R&B and hip-hop (check the debut album, isn't she rapping on "Prisoner"). What's mind boggling about these OG fans is that new Mariah (true Mariah) has now been out so to speak, much longer (all caps) than hairbangs Mariah (Music Box and Daydream) and she has pretty much remained the same since, yet they're still hooked on the curated Tommy's vision of her and think that somehow, someday she's gonna go back to pop and that image. It's just jarring sometimes because she seems like a completely different person. It's as if Taylor Swift suddenly turned into Madonna. We're all here still supporting, buying the albums, and streaming the songs. We're still fans but this is a message board where fans share their thoughts, ideas, grief, joy, whatever. I don't feel like anyone is being disrespectful and Mariah is going to keep doing whatever she damn well pleases because she can. She's the artist. And we're all going to come back here and talk about it and reminisce about the old times. I remember when MOAIA came out I didn't automatically love it and now it's one of my favorites. Mariah seems to be much more lively and responsive than in her other recent interviews, which is a good thing. Sugar Sweet (110,032) by TJ from Norway I'm not sure what I think. It's too much head voice in the beginning for my taste. The song works ok from the second verse. But much better than the horrible AI version presented by Eddie. After playing it on repeat for like 30 minutes, I enjoy it a little bit more than what I wrote above. Sweet sound, but no number one. As you said about the walls, I think she spend too much time listening to her old music and that doesn't give her new ideas or inspiration. As Cher said when the interviewer asked her about listening to her own music, she was like "No, I'm not a big Cher fan." I have got the impression that MC is a big Mariah Carey fan. She obviously hate aging, and I believe she is obsessed about looking perfect at all time, also on stage (look at her performances in 1990-91 and compare the facial expressions then and now/or the early 2000). Some people call her a vampire because it looks like she's not aging, I would love if she didn't put all that poison in her face and rather aged naturally with grace and style. Image over substance (109,970) by ADAM from USA My issue with MC for the last decade or so has been she's super obsessed with her physical image - she is afraid of aging and always recreating the past. What made all her imagery great in the 90s was that it was natural, not contrieved and shot by masters of their craft. Seeing her imitate the past just reeks desperation and lazy. You get the feeling her house is labeled head to toe with all her album booklet imagery. I would have less of an issue if I felt like she would put as much effort into recorded music. I remain hopeful for new music however the small snippet of here for it all sounds really chipmunk and sliced several times to piece together one syllable. Tell me this with a callous heart I'm just trying to articulate that I think she would benefit from putting the mirror down and start putting pen of paper and work on her vocal recovery. She has taken the safe turn for years, and it's like that for most of the people in the music industry. With TD I was so thirsty for something new, that I swallowed the song for a day or two, but it was soon forgotten. I do agree that the lyrics doesn't fit her age or the style I wished for, but I'm not the one making the songs or decisions. I don't think a lot of teenagers will discover her music and think of her as brilliant or fresh. It's us, the middle aged fans, that listen to her music, and I find those kind of lyrics a little immature and not artistically deep or clever. So, let's hope you're right B.
