Happy birthday Mariah (106,045) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Happy birthday Mariah. I hope you have a wonderful day. I wish you the best, a lot of luck and especially health. I wish you a sunny day. Cheers to the one and only Mariah.

Quick question (106,022) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Cool question. I would also choose B. Mariah and Celine were really the ballad queens of the 90ies. Together they would have been a duo that caused music news for sure.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (106,001) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I love Kool and the Gang. Just listening to "Too hot" right now. So relaxing with the sax. Mariah and the wonderful group should be both in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Fingers crossed for Mariah of course.

Music right now (105,989) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Absolutely I can't stand the music scene right now. No real singers, at best some entertainers out there with minimal talent or none at all. When I think of the 90ies, we had everything. There were real artists in almost every music genre. Even songs I didn't like back then are great compared to nowadays "charts". When I was a kid/teen I wateched MTV every day. It was so cool. I loved the US charts. I always remeber 93, Cheryl Crow with "All I wanna do", Michael Jackson and of course Mariah with "Without you". It was the best. Later I discovered AFN on the radio and became an RNB fan. I recorded all the hot music on my cassettes. With Toni Braxton, Usher, Next, TLC, Boyz II Men, Sisco, Whitney, En Vogue, Kelis, Babyface and of course many more. I also remember a day where they only played Aretha Franklin. That was music. Power voices, a beat, a groove, a real melody. The music scene right now is dead for me. Adele is the last talent for me too. And I enjoyed Amy Winehouse and Bruno Mars. Right now I listen a lot to cinema music, good old soul, jazz and MB30 and the rarities from "our" lovely MC.

Mariah never lied or let anyone on (105,899) by MusicfanJ from Germany
How I love Mariah on the "First vision". So sweet. For me she was the ultimate American girl. So cool and beautiful. How can someone be so beautiful and sing like in her debut. It's almost too much. She has everything and is really blessed. I just miss a more natural MC. I also do believe inside she's the same.

Mariah never lied or let anyone on (105,889) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Thanks for the info. That means I will play Music Box 30 endlessly this year plus her outstanding music catalogue. "Vision of love" is still the best anyway. I will never get tired of this song. The part with the sweet destiny, and is what all that you turned out to be. What a debut single. Unmatched until this day.

Top of the Pops (pun intended) (105,866) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Mariah had many pop moments. The original "Fantasy" is a perfect pop song. One of the best. "Heartbreaker" is also a pop song. "Almost home" is pure pop music. "Against all odds", I love her cover. "I want to know what love is". There are much more of course.

Release (105,865) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Yes, it's a bit confusing to me. I was so excited for the "Butterfly lounge". So nothing new except the remix after all the "projects".

Breakdown (live in Perth - footage) (105,851) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Mariah the sex-bomb. I have the Tom Jones song on my mind. Tommy M. must have been shocked back then. Lol I love "Breakdown" with the best rap parts ever. Her outfit really reminds me of Caberat / Liza Minelli.

Daydream is now Mariah's biggest album (105,832) by MusicfanJ from Germany
It's so deserved. I love everything about Daydream. I became a fan because of Daydream. When I heard "Fantasy" on the radio back then I was enchanted. I bought the album and I still remember the day. I was so happy, I still have the original cassette. "Always be my baby", "One Sweet Day", "Open Arms", "Forever", " Melt away", "Long Ago", "Underneath the stars", "Daydream Interlude" and the incredible "Looking in". Isn't it unbelievable? For me it is and always will be the ultimate Mariah album. It is the perfect mix of Pop and RnB. That album caused Mariah mania. Daydream is deep in my heart.

Controversial (105,801) by MusicfanJ from Germany
"She should be studied in Music School, I believe some already have." So true. Here's a little story. In the late 90ies I brought cd's of Mariah to my music teacher. He was a young and very nice teacher. It ended up that we as a school class were listening to "Hero" and "Everything fades away". Can you imagine how cool that was? My teacher loved Mariah's voice.

I hope Mariah never releases anything anymore (105,748) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I heard it too, that because of J.D. "We belong together" is sung in full-voice. It was more than a good decision. Thank you J.D. People who only say yes to everything aren't helpful. Plus yes-man are often people who are not nice at all, only a façade to get what they want. Oh yes, Celine Dion was clever to listen to the advise with "My heart will go on". I remember 97 as it was yesterday. I was a teen and I loved "My heart will go on". I still have the single and soundtrack cd. Lol. I went to the Titanic movie two times with friends. What a wonderful time that was. The carefree 90ies. I miss them.

Taryn Murphy / Make it go away (105,695) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I love this song since I first heard it on the "Wise Girls" movie. I always thought it would suit Mariah too. I wish there was a version sung by MC. Some parts of it reminds me a bit of Mariah.

I hope Mariah never releases anything anymore (105,694) by MusicfanJ from Germany
It's really a dumb argument. I'm not good at cooking for example lol, but I appreciate and recognize a good meal, a good cook and restaurant. I'm not a movie director, but I'm a cineast. By the way I have knowledge of music, my grand-dad was an opera singer. He sang the Caruso songs and other classics. But if someone thinks the rapper Latto and Ariana Grande are wonderful than it's fine. We all have our different tastes. That's good, what a boring world it would be if we had all the same. Nowadays it's trendy to only allow the own opinion. Intolerant and boring.

This is what we asked for (105,661) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Of course it's not about what I want. I just meant not every fan was hoping for this remix. If you enjoy it, fantastic. With the chart-driven thing, I don't get it. Because Mariah broke allready every record. Why not release the inner soul-artist she's in my eyes too.

This is what we asked for (105,645) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I've never asked or wanted a song or remix with Ariana. I don't like the music from Miss Grande. The same with Cardi B. (even worse). I want real musicians like Jazz/Blues and Soul singers or a band with real instruments. People like James Poyser are also a win. Trends will come and go, but quality music will stay forever. I enjoy the song "Portrait" again lately, I almost get some Stevie Wonder vibes from a part of the melody. Mariah's "You and I" version is heavenly. That's my kind of music.

General public or bad decisions (105,618) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Great post Jamie. I love considerations. I think it's a bit of all things you mentioned, her "music change" during Butterfly, the Glitter debacle with the public breakdown and later some wrong decisions by the management and Mariah (if she was involved in album single choices, I don't know). As you said Mariah could do no wrong in the 90ies. She was like a music princess, loved by almost everyone and even people who didn't like her style of singing only had respect for her. I think what really caused damage was the image after 2001. Friends often told me back than "what's going on with Mariah, her dressing, behavior etc." They also didn't understand her humour and diva antics. A lot of people still don't get it. I always tell them, she's just playing a role like an actress. It's more for fun and a little self-protection.

It just occured to me (105,599) by MusicfanJ from Germany
"Like I said, I think Mariah did it just to return a favor, dipped her toes, but didn't completely jump in." That's what I believe too. I'm waiting for a song only by Mariah. I don't want another young "trendy" singer or rapper. Just pure Mariah, no matter if it will be jazz, gospel or rnb. Just Mariah. Is it too much to ask for? I think not.

Yes, And? lyrics (105,541) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Excatly. I'm 39, and to put the f. word and other cencored words aren't art to me. It cheapens a pop song. The language of today is often vulgar enough. I find it childish and not necessary. It's my right to not like it. If other ones enjoy those lyrics fine. Tastes are different, especially in art. I prefer lyrics like "Butterfly". Poetic, energizing, touching. Honey, My All and Fantasy are great too. And "Touch my body" is just fun with the video hilarius.

Let's get it to number one (105,538) by MusicfanJ from Germany
The local radio played Beys "Texas hold em" yesterday. The clean version. The radio presenter was praising the song. I think the song really works for the radio. With "yes and" I'm not so sure. It's interesting to read your thoughts about the airplay for "yes and the remix". Can someone post a (US) chart position for next week?

MV snippet (105,509) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Yes, absolutely. Boring and not needed to use such words. I watched the lyric video, what a mess. Who wrote this? Boy put your lipstick on? I'm going to listen to "Nevertheless I'm in love with you". That's classy.

Yes, And? (105,478) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I had to think of Madonna too. Lol. House and a little En Vogue vibe. Yes, who would have thought? I think the teens will like the remix. I don't feel this song. Maybe mostly because I don't like the music from Ariana in general. I also don't need the f. in lyrics. Luckily I have the MB 30 where the lyrics are wonderful. Plus the remix of "Working hard" which is a hundred times better than this. Just my humble opinion.
