MC 30 media blitz (107,557)
by Shezz from Pk
| |
|
|
Mariah is taking the MC30 promotion very seriously I'm so happy. According to MariahNow Brazil's instagram she will make a major holiday announcement on 31st October with Melissa Forman at 8:20am on LiteFm 93.9. On the LiteFm website it says she will kick off the holiday music with them on November 1st with a special message.
MariahNow also says she's recorded a Christmas special with BBC for UK and they have a beautiful new picture of her from the upcoming LA times shoot I hope this link I've attched works.
Anyone else noticed Mariah dressing more "demure and mindful" since the last couple of months (Mimi L. that was for you).
Ps. I started my Mariah Christmas music already this morning. Anybody else?

Drew Barrymore Show (107,555)
by Shezz from Pk

I'm surprised she picked the Drew Barrymore show over the Kelly Clarkson show. Not that one's more popular than the other but I thought she got along well with Kelly plus she loves a lamb. Maybe her team decided.

I think it's for easier accessibility and the chance for it to go viral. Not a lot of people really watch TV anymore and attention span of the newer generation is short haha.

Drew Barrymore Show (107,550)
by Shezz from Pk
| |
|
|
The website description says she'll talk about the tour and MC30 (mostly Drew will talk to her about her Christmas traditions I'm sure). Gone are the days when people make announcements on these shows RA. All done on social media now, though I'd love to be wrong and have her announce something substantial. I don't know why she didn't come on the November 1st show. Insider rumours on X say that she has a couple of big guest stars on her "It's tiiiiime" video this year, maybe that's why she's doing the 31st one since it's pre taped and she can't discuss the video.

Drew Barrymore Show (107,546)
by Bobby A from United States

This is great news. I don't think her visit to the show is just a random visit. Maybe MC will announce that there will be another CBS Christmas special this year and some other surprises. The Drew Barrymore Show is produced by CBS Media Ventures. In 2022, the Christmas special was a huge ratings winner for CBS.

Next single has to hook them (107,529)
by Bobby A from United States

I have kept my word about scaling back my messages to only 2-3 messages per week. However, I had to make a post about this one. I was at my high school's football game and the crowd went crazy when Fantasy ft. O.B.D. played on the field. The young people today could make Fantasy a hit again in 2025 if MC remiangined it to a new sample for a stadium jam ft. Kendrick Lamar and Lil Wayne. MC has to hook these young people with one of her old songs if she is going catch radio's attention next year. Maybe Fantasy is the song that could do it. What are the Lambs' thoughts?

I personally don't like going down that rabbit hole anymore. It looked partly lipped but she looked great, worked on a new arrangement, everyone loved it - job well done, no need to over analyze it I think, on to Mariah season now.

AMAs performance (107,497)
by Xavier mariohmix from Spain

Really? Do you really think the performance is live? Am I too obsessed with this or have I become too distrustful of her? I've felt obliged to watch the performance again, but I still see the same. Poor me.
For the record, I don't question the multiple tapings, I mean, that's something recurrent in televised performances. For example, "It's a wrap" on López Tonight or the medley on American Idol.

Yes, I can't wait. So it looks like she is doing a medley. I am so happy she's rearranging them and being creative. That way even if it's not fully live at least it'll be something new with some effort behind it. I don't know if it's deliberate or not but all the performers seem to be old schoolers. Not one current pop artist. J Hud seems to be the youngest of the lot. I understand it's for their 50th show but all the nominees are current acts.
Ps. I love love love Mariah's look for the AMA interviews.

DFAU (107,435)
by Shezz from Pk

Mimi L. are you basing that off the promo Mariah posted featuring DFAU? Billboard and another site reported a medley - I think she'll definitely do a medley. She has so many songs to choose (based on her celebration tour) from it - could be really fun:
It's like that Shake it off We belong together Circles Your girl Don't forget about us Fly like a bird
Or as you said, maybe a mash up. I hope she gets creative.

So Mariah is performing DFAU at the AMAs. I absolutely love DFAU but I don't know if it was the best choice for the performance. I would have loved a medley instead. She has so many great songs in TEOM. I wonder if she'll mashup the original with the remix like she does with WBT. What are your thoughts?

Robert Anthony, I think we are forgetting the live performances she was giving early last year. I made an effort not to see them because they made me uncomfortable. And if MC is one thing, she's self conscious and cares how she appears. I think she made a conscious decision after that that she'd rather fully lip and only look bad to the handful of us who notice rather than sound bad and off key to the entire world.
To the average listener, the vocals she's recorded for this year's live shows seem very much live. Do I wish she could still sing live? Yes I do. Am I going to renounce my lambily passport if she keeps lipping? Never in a million years.
I'm more interested in the music she releases to add to her catalog that I'll be listening to until I'm old and have no teeth. Will I care then whether she lipped or sang live 40 years ago in Beijing or Rio or Vegas? I think not. There are much bigger issues in the world to lose sleep over.

No, I am not trolling. Lol. Can a Lamb have hopes and dreams for MC to sing live without backing tracks? I have really had a concern lately for MC using backing tracks during live shows. The audience would really embrace her current voice, if she wouldn't make a big thing about it by using backing tracks so much.

Of course she can do it. Will she? No. Her last 2 AMAs performances were lipped when she was still singing a bit. At best, it might be newly recorded vocals just for the AMAs.

Yes. I saw one too. A woman was making a pumpkin latte and she hears "iiiiiiiiiiiii". I love it. Yes a thawing reference that she herself got in on last year but I think this song has just become synonymous with the coming of the season as well. Like she's warming up to bring it on.

I am seeing a lot of random people posting various scenes (i.e. decorating for Fall, leaving their house on a blustery day, etc) and then you hear MC sing the first few notes. People are then seen looking up at the trees as if to say, what was that? The whole concept revolves around "she's thawing" premise. I love it. Just hearing those first few notes gets me excited too.

Mariah at Rock in Rio (107,389)
by Shezz from Pk

I have to say her China and Brazil outfits have been much better than the Vegas ones. I wasn't crazy about the Rio Butterfly dress though. She has been looking great.
And yes, the monitor watching is extremely annoying. She won't let anyone take them away - she clearly needs them. Is she using it more for covers and songs she doesn't sing often or everything? Maybe the monitor tells her which lines to sing and which to mime? Remembering which line she has to actually sing has to be tricky. From the looks of it, she's lip syncing as much as Vegas. I'm sure she remembers the words to Always Be My Baby.

It was an awesome concert, and they say it was her biggest crowd ever. She looked amazing, and her vocals were on point. My only gripe was that it felt short, but I loved how she switched up the setlist a bit and still sang all our favorite songs. In São Paulo, after the show ended and the lights went out, she came back a few minutes later and sang IWKWLI barefoot, catching everyone off guard - even her crew. Some fans had already left and couldn't get back in. I wonder if she planned it or just changed her mind last minute.

This isn't directed at anyone in particular so please don't come at me, but let's all try to be respectful during this time. We can all sit and speculate and debate whether Mariah should try and mend her relationship with her brother or should not bother. I know we are all coming from a place of care and love for Mariah but it's not our place to say what she should do with her relationships. We don't have the full facts of what went on behind the scenes, we don't know how much it impacted Mariah, yes she talks about it in her memoirs but she also holds back so we might not have the whole picture. I understand the need to have family around especially when you have a loss as big as this but at the same time what if the family member is someone who causes you to lose your mental peace and well being? All of this to say, let's not fight amongst ourselves for something that's very personal to Mariah. Let us just hope she does what gives her peace and that she has the support she needs during this time of such tragic loss. She's had such a complicated relationship with her mother and sister it must be a lot of conflicting feelings she's going through right now. Let's give her the space to process those.

That would be amazing but not an easy feat to pull. Rumour (insider) has it she will release a song from the vault in support of MC30 like she did with MB30 in November. That does sound exciting, I'm sure there are collaborations as well. I hope Where Are You Christmas will be the new song but I doubt it as it was not part of the Merry Christmas project and came in much later. Do you think a Merry Christmas duets album could be one of MC's surprises to celebrate the anniversary? She could use her original vocals and just have other artists sing on the songs. I think it could work and make the album sell huge this holiday season. It could feature Post Malone, Brandy, Trey Songz, Kelly Clarkson, The Clark Sisters, Charlie Wilson, and Chris Brown. Just a thought this Sunday. I trust MC is going to celebrate the anniversary in a huge way.

Yes it's clearly not laziness, it looks like some medical side effects. Mid 50s isn't old from anywhere but neurological disorders tend to mostly worsen with age. Mariah is clearly relying on lip-syncing to pre-recorded tracks quite a bit. She might sing a few words live here and there, but the lipping is at an all-time high. When you compare footage from different shows, the only thing that changes are her spoken or talk-sung parts; everything else seems to be pre-recorded. Additionally, she frequently appears a dazed, whatever medication she's on seems to be affecting her movement, speech, and even the parts she sings live. I'm not criticizing her; she needs to take her meds to manage her bipolar disorder, but it's evident that she's on some strong stuff.
