About Shezz from Pk: L4L

Insider stuff (for laughs) (106,375) by Shezz from Pk
The insider who claimed Mariah was doing a remix with Ariana before it was announced (amongst other stuff about it that didn't materialize) had said a month ago that Mariah was working on another remix. Turned out to be the Muni Long one. Here are another couple of interesting things they are claiming:

1. The Audible BFL session is a prelude. She's managed a contract with a streaming giant for the rest of it finally. In another post they said Vevo is teaming up with a great female artist for a special series of performances.

2. Mariah x Ariana (again). Not sure whether it's for BFL or MC16 (if true).

I think we have some interesting times ahead - 2 of which are confirmed, the Muni Long remix and the Audible session. I am sure there's more to come.

Robert Anthony wasn't it you who said "Made for me" should have been a Mariah song or something like that? Now we're getting a Mariah remix. You really wish things to life.

Met Gala (106,361) by Shezz from Pk
I wonder if they have ever invited her to the event. I'm sure at some point they must have. She might not be the most fashion forward but she is a huge star. Maybe they stopped inviting her after she showed no interest?

Interestingly enough I don't think she has ever been on the cover of Vogue. 1994 was a feature not the cover, that's all that comes to mind. I wouldn't be surprised if Anna Wintour is not a big fan hence no cover or met gala?

Mimi L - this is your department. Enlighten us.

A Daydream release in 2024 (106,292) by Shezz from Pk
Mimi L. I couldn't agree more. No more huge eras from her for sure. She has done what she wanted to. You can tell there's been a major change in her since Caution. We don't know what's going on, I doubt we ever will but I'm happy she's still there in whatever capacity she is and she hasn't retired.

I'm happy I saw her live at the Caution tour. She was animated, happy and full of life. I could barely tell when she was lipping from the audience but she did sing a beautiful snippet of "Slipping Away".

I strongly believe that she will release the projects she's been working on. Either one or two or all of the ones she's been talking about since covid, anybody's guess.

A Daydream release in 2024 (106,282) by Shezz from Pk
Haha Mimi L has been paying attention to Taylor's lyrics. To be honest I quite liked Folklore and Evermore. Midnights grew on me. All the songs on this album are pleasant but tend to blur into one long two hour song.

I read an interview of her's (Taylor) recently where she said she knows her years are numbered now that she's crossed 30 and she wants to work as hard as possible and create as much music as she can while she's still popular. I didn't quite know how to feel about that. On one hand I appreciated her awareness, on the other hand I felt like she's making herself into the fast food equivalent of music. Of course every artist wants success and thrives on it but it felt like commercial success is paramount to her before all.

Which then lead me to think this was Mariah in the 90s. She created the most albums, most regularly while she was commercially successful. When they stopped selling as much, she slowed down majorly. I suppose that's human nature (and business).

Robert Anthony (106,236) by Shezz from Pk
Underneath it all, she is a creator and an artist. She will not always be happy with just these Vegas and Christmas shows. Whatever is preventing or delaying the inevitable will soon pass.

You are the happy glue that holds us all together here and makes us hope and wait for good things to come. Don't you dare lose hope. MC will deliver us new music this year. Keep on believing.

Uhmmm Mimi's deep cuts are MIA (106,160) by Shezz from Pk
Mimi L. from the setlist I saw (not sure how accurate it was), it seemed like she was doing an "eras" show - going along chronologically, closing with TEOM. In some ways that does seem odd that she's leaving out some great stuff from later but then that was last great "era". E=MC2 fizzled out too soon after TMB.

Las Vegas (106,152) by Shezz from Pk
She fooled me first with the low resolution videos coming out. I thought wow she really did work hard for these shows and got her voice back. To be fair, it is her current voice - I think it's clear now she's not getting her confidence back to sing them live. Her voice sounds good though. She looked great, not as stiff as her first Christmas shows, she'll only get better on stage. I didn't see enough clips to see how much she was singing live but her 2 mostly live staples VOL and Hero seemed majorly lipped. Still hoping for MC16 sometime soon.

New single (106,097) by Shezz from Pk
I saw the insider's post about it but I didn't quite see what Mariah had liked. Now it makes sense. If Mariah doesn't want us to follow these people for the crumbs we get from them she better come out and release something soon. I'm starting to feel like old Rose from Titanic. Soon it'll be 84 years and the insider's grand daughter who will have taken over the account will be promising this summer it is coming for real.

New single (106,092) by Shezz from Pk
The fan account did say the next day it was an April Fools thing. The insider account says she is set to make her long awaited come back this month. I hope that means a single, not her Vegas residency because she has been performing. Also, the insider says MC16 is a return to pop for MC with a lot of uptempo, disco and euro dance numbers. I hope that's true. She's not gotten anywhere with her midtempo RnB for a while now. Butterfly Lounge on the other hand is a total jazz project. How exciting is that? I have a feeling she will drop something soon either right before or right after Vegas.

Is Mariah Carey popular? (106,070) by Shezz from Pk
Apparently "The Butterfly Lounge" has not been abandoned and features a host of collaborations from legends to the younger ones with some unexpected ones.

Lord only knows when any of these projects will see the light of day. I wish she had picked one project to focus on and not so many simultaneously.

According to the insider, a Shawn Mendes collaboration was recorded a year ago and she is working on something with Janet Jackson as well. Maybe it's a duets album. After so many commercially failed projects I'm sure she's doing something different this time. Mimi doesn't like to fail.

Cardi B (105,793) by Shezz from Pk
It is supposedly a pop/upbeat song. I don't think it is a remix, it is a proper collaboration. I just hope it is either one of their first singles, not just a promo/buzz single. If it gets the proper Cardi B treatment as her first single it will definitely have a video and it'll definitely chart high (opening week at least). I'm excited for Mariah to go back to her uptempo first single formula.

I hope Mariah never releases anything anymore (105,743) by Shezz from Pk
If I remember correctly that was the only era I think where Mariah was getting more radio play than single sales. I remember reading about it on Billboard in late 2005. I honestly don't think radio will ever show her that love again even if the songs on mc16 are better than the ones on TEOM.

I think we're gonna get a varied album that'll have a bit of everything for everyone. She's been working on it for years and she really wants to give it her best it seems. She's picked the toughest year to do it but I hope that doesn't scare her away. Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Ariana, Dua Lipa, Katy Perry and even Rihanna's highly anticipated comeback album all due in the new two quarters. Chart success should only serve as the cherry on top now, if that.

A well made album with some good promotion to make sure it reaches as many people as possible and then to focus on MC30 and take the next year off music.

Also, can you imagine the self restraint it took from JD to hold back from his vocal interjections? He really wanted that song to be a masterpiece and for only Mariah to shine.

SNL (105,633) by Shezz from Pk
I'm a little worried about how she'll sound (if it is true). It's a lot of strained belting. Let's see how much is going to be live and how much lipped. I hope she puts in the effort to do it justice.

Insiders are saying the Cardi collaboration will be her next step - which is bound to get more people mad here.

It just occured to me (105,598) by Shezz from Pk
True. Mariah and Ariana should have collaborated on a new song. After a couple of listens the song did grow on me and I heard it on repeat a lot but I asked myself why I myself or others didn't like it more:

First of all, it's not a new song. Even though Mariah adds a lot of layers to this song and her new verse, it's still 99% the same song that A) has been played out and B) people didn't love much to begin with.

I didn't find Mariah's vocals as grating or out of place as some people did. If Mariah, Ariana and Max Martin put them through - this is the style of singing they obviously wanted from her.

I don't believe this remix is tanking because of Mariah's vocals. This song was on its way out of the top 40 anyway. It will push it back to the top 15 for a week and of course the original will be credited as it has more streams/downloads I'm sure.

The opposite was true for Big Energy. It was a breakout hit and steadily climbing the charts when the remix came out and it just pushed it more. That wad good timing, this was not. It is certainly not the disaster many people think it is. It is just another building block for MC 16 which I'm sure will have the lyrics, music and vocals for all of us.

I do too. But that's only because I really love AI MC Selfish. I don't mind the remix, wasn't too blown away. I don't think she added as much to it as she did to the Big Energy remix. Also, I agree with what somebody said - some adlibs just don't sound too pleasant. Of course I'm still playing it.

Not happy (105,440) by Shezz from Pk
I think we over estimate the current market. I believe even if Mariah were to have released one of her signature hits today - bonafide hits such as Dreamlover, Always Be My Baby, Honey, My All, Fantasy etc - she would struggle to crack the top 20 of the BB Hot 100. Mass market is not going to stream or download her enough today to make her break the top 10. I hope I'm proven wrong ofcourse but I'll just be happy with new music - not holding my breath for her to receive crazy commercial success again. Which is why I feel she has not been putting out much music lately - general audience not loving her enough anymore plus lack of label support/faith in her.

An AI Mariah cover of JT (105,439) by Shezz from Pk
I love it. I would've been over the moon if this were her first single off MC16. I also feel it is very Mariah. Which makes me wonder. Wouldn't this sound mean that she's continuing in her same mid tempo R&B comfort zone though? I believe she will experiment and explore different sounds but I don't think she'll stray too far from who she is as an artist.

Conflicted (105,438) by Shezz from Pk
Whereas Madonna or Gaga would've been better suited for the remix of this particular song, I believe we underestimate how versatile Mariah is and how she not only reinvented remixes but she has some amazing resung dance remixes.

Also I agree Mimi L, I think they genuinely do like each other and a smart move on Mariah's part definitely. I'm not counting on this song being her 20th n1. I don't think the remix will take over the original and there won't be so much love from Arianators as with a new single. Also, apparently half of Ariana's fanbase isn't happy about Mariah being on the remix, they wanted someone else.

Nonetheless I am still super excited to hear it tomorrow. She definitely will elevate it like she did Big Energy. I fear it might meet the same fate chartwise. Still, will be good to get some more spotlight on Mariah. Looks like her new single will drop a month or so later now.

Mimi L. are you following the current insider developments/rumors? (General insider not just for MC.) Mariah might be on the Yes, And remix. That'd be exciting if she is.

Rock and Roll HOF coming up as well - I think she took the annual defrosting only for Christmas meme and smashed it literally.

I would love that album title. It'll be interesting to see if she drops the album before or after her Vegas run. She looks like she's serious about promoting her music this time. Insider account says she's planning a lot of talk show and event appearances for promo.
