True, regardless it's still my favorite song and Charmbracelet's core. And I play it ever so often just not the whole album. And I would say it's also a classic now. So many people know that song especially the younger generation, even if they don't know who sang it.

I understand exactly where you're coming from especially about the vocals on "Through the rain". I noticed immediately that it was recorded without any reverb thus making it sound thin (for lack of a better term). And vocally Charmbracelet was missing her chest/mixed voice. She's either "whispering" or "shouting". No inbetweens. Those were some frustrating days to be a Lamb. But then there came "The Emancipation Of Mimi". Wow, by "We Belong Together" even before the powerful phrasing and final belt, I suddenly exclaimed "she's singing again". Haha and that was just the second track. By "Mine Again" everyone in the room just went "Jesus". Lol.

It's my least favorite Mariah Carey album. Sorry guys but something's off about the vocals, and what's a Mariah Carey album without stellar vocals? It sounds like she's singing under water or suffocating, her bellowing resonating belt is totally non existent, her ease of singing replaced with difficulty (Yours), her main chest voice only makes an appearance on TTR, MSG, TTR reprise and maybe The One. The rest is struggle vocals (Have you heard the full 5 minute version of "You got me"? Horrendous.) and tired borderline irritable whispering.

Mariah's world (spoiler alert?) (71,441)

They keep reminding us to watch and not miss out so I'm guessing maybe there's a surprise in the season finale episode. My guess would be one of these: She gets back with Nick Cannon (far fetched?) we've actually been seeing them together a lot recently with Roc and Roe, or she married James Parker since March and we've all just been strung along for the "breakup" ride.

That's good news. I've wanted a Dj Khaled collaboration for a while now, ever since I heard the track he did with Mary J. Blige and Fabolous. He's a hot producer.

The missing chanteuse (food for thought) (71,334)

What if "Me. I Am Mariah...The Elusive Chanteuse" was Mariah's last album? Think about it, something about that album feels like she's saying goodbye or throwing in the towel like f**k it. I'm done with this industry and the disgusting haters and it's been like what? Four years since its release. Also the expression on her face on the deluxe edition totally rubs me the wrong way. It's no secret how the industry killed Mariah's spirit with all the envy, and conscious efforts to downplay her achievements. And seeing how she has embraced touring and live performances. Oh man I do hope I'm wrong.

You know how Mariah works with Crystle sometimes, well I was wondering if she's considered collaborating with Kelly songwriting wise (just for old times sake). Kelly penned K. Michelle's "Not a Little bit" from last year and it's easily one of the strongest R&B records 2016 had to offer and that vocal just wow. Jazzmine Sullivan too would be a good choice too. I love her melodies, lyrical phrasing and delivery, quite unique. I would love to see what they come up with.

Your suggestion would mean letting the negativity thrive on the message board of a website dedicated to only (all caps) Mariah Carey. This isn't Ukmix nor a general forum for just anyone to come spew rubbish. This is a Mariah message board and as such there should be a certain level of respect towards her even when offering your "opinions" seeing that you're here because you identify (one would want to believe) as a fan of hers, because let's face it we're all on the outside looking in on her life and career. It's all speculation. So there's a problem when certain folk come on here with their "constructive criticism" which is borderline insultive, degrading and just straight up hating (no one is fooled when you see a blatant hate message you know) , all the while tagged as a "strong opinion". Smh.

Such a gracious person (71,039)
by Terna from Nigeria
| |

Aretha Franklin once (actually more than once) described Mariah Carey as a very gracious person, she always used that word when referring to Mariah in interviews. Listening to Mariah's voice message made me see that side she was talking about. Mariah's grounded, she has that inner peace, that calm very few people possess. And when you're like that you're unshakable. She's coming back swinging and heads will roll.

René Angelil (Celine Dion's late husband) and Tommy Mottolla are two very different people young man. [...] was René who made Celine Dion the superstar she is today. That had absolutely nothing to do with Tommy. I suggest you get your facts straight before you come on here in your bid to hate but instead make yourself look real foolish. Smh.

Well, she has indeed stood the test of time now hasn't she? (Longevity.) And Tommy, how come he never found another big artist on par with Mariah or even bigger? I mean he tried it with Jlo but we all know how that ended. How come he faded away after she left? Tommy didn't make her the biggest star, that was predestined with the massive talent she possesses, it was inevitable with or without Tommy. Take note he was the one who ran back to the party with her demo tape in hand and consequently all round New York searching for the mysterious girl with the golden pipes, not the other way around, he had to beat other record executives to the chase. Mariah also wrote the hits not Tommy. She (all caps) is the mastermind, the one with the gold touch. The common denominator in all Mariah Carey's success is Mariah Carey.

Andrew pookey bear, I never ever read your messages your negativity is contagious and that lengthy essay of a reply to me was no exception. My A.D.D kicked in the moment I saw it was you. Now, I said what I said and stand by every word. Her legacy will remain untouched, unscathed and Mariah will be remembered for decades to come as one of the best to do it. It's already even happening. Does the phrase "All I want for Christmas" ring a bell? Now sit down [censored].

So what you're saying is Mariah's legacy is in critical condition as you put it as a result of one bad performance she had, which was out of her control, on a show she has performed before and slayed. You guys are reaching now at this point. Her legacy is her talent, achievements, the standards and records she set and broke, her body of work which is in my opinion something near sacred, Mariah easily (all caps) has the best body of work by any artist point blank period. And that is something that would always speak for her, always. And no botched NYE performance, smear campaign, nor even time itself can change that.

Tommy Mottola (70,834)
by Terna from Nigeria
| |
|
|
This man is obsessed with Mariah in a very disturbing way. Wasn't he the one who called L.A Reid during the Emancipation Of Mimi Era to find out the album's sales statistics? Then that book the world slept on, written to slight Mariah, and then the Beyoncé comments in 2013, when we all know Beyoncé ain't no Mariah Carey (never has and never will) because Mariah's still very relevant. It's all spite and it pains him that Mariah left him and succeeded without any input from him whatsoever, and now is considered the industry's best - the standard (all caps) and a living legend. Mariah is the best thing that happened to Tommy Mottola.

Lol. I sound like Stella? Oh my well that's maybe as a result of my overprotective approach to Mariah Carey. You cannot talk sh*t nor try to make fun of her when I'm around. I was with Mariah through the darkest times, unapologetically a lamb existing amongst a brood of haters who can't even stand a mention of her name, so I grew thick skin. Come to think of it I need to be on team Mariah, that way you guys would have two Stellas to contend with not just one. Haha.

In other words you'll prefer if she "lost" right? And it was hateration on Mariah Carey Glitter era 2.0 all over again? Lol. How bad they want her to fail. She's won already we're not trying to make it "seem" like she has, because some of her industry peers have stood up for her and most peoples' attention deficit disorder (A.D.D) kicks in by now when you hear New Year's performance in respect to Mariah Carey. And yes social media makes a difference because now the people can view the evidence in this case the video clips, weigh it logically and rationally and then have a say unlike before, when all we had were what the extremely biased new houses stuffed down our throats ala Glitter. Stay positive Lila, lots of love, laughter and light.

A smear campaign botched (70,743)
by Terna from Nigeria

Kudos to those who have Mariah's back in the whole debacle. I'm glad in this social media age we live in, the lambs [...] even just the general public were able to do damage control, especially on IG [...] Facebook. We went into overdrive defending her. Talk about any publicity is good publicity, "We Belong Together" spiked up in streams and downloads and has now been certified 3x Platinum, her YouTube views also experienced a surge and her following on Instagram is now at 5 million. Talk about a smear campaign gone awry. Instead, Mariah started 2017 with a hoard of new lambs. She stays winning. And that new album we all know is coming is gonna slay (all caps).
