Mariah Carey (63,907)

How did she go from the girl in Vision Of Love to this self absorbed difficult person whom you can't even be free with or truthful to, else you risk being fired? Wendy is spot on when she says Mariah is a difficult person and probably annoying as hell to date or be friends with. "With great power comes great responsibility" so the proverb goes, and Mariah posessed and still posesses power to touch and change lives through her gift of music and song. Such a soul isn't like regular folk ala Stella and should compose themselves as such. It's why the general public is always so hard on her when she dresses in a way that they perceive isn't on par with that divine level she's on. (Imagine her singing Hero in lingerie, hope you get my point.) This recent DJing appearance is one too much and indicates a woman who's in turmoil on the inside and it's painful to watch knowing she is so much better than that. If this is what Mariah's World is going to look like, I cringe in fear of the epic damage it's gonna to do her brand and legacy, one she won't recover from. Legends too crash and burn sometimes. Mariah just ask Bill Cosby.

That's some bs excuse. Guess it's safe to say and speak on the behalf of the lambily, that I was truly and utterly disgusted. Like seriously? Who wears lingerie on a red carpet, and to a club? This Stella lady situation is kinda 50/50. Yes she helped in the damage control post Chanteuse era and cleaning up the negativity, but with her also came the ratchetness, unusually thick aging makeup, cursing, and all that which wasn't there before. I don't know why Mariah is so easily influenced. That's a quality of hers I would like her to work on. Mariah you better wake up girl and slow down.

Mariah is really looking hot recently. I can say she looks the best she's ever looked 26 years into her career. Even that golden glow she had but lost is back. This woman ain't playing. I have a feeling we are going to get a massive Daydream/Emancipation hybrid comeback this year. I love her.

Stella the dictator (60,914)
by Terna from Nigeria
| |
|

In a nice firm but friendly way I see her putting Mariah in check which is a good thing. "It's time for vocal exercises Mariah", "put down that champagne have water instead". "Absolutely no rappers in your new album or show it must be all about you only", "work with newer producers, you need an update to your sound". Lol. If Stella is saying all this without fear that Mariah will cut her off then I'm here for it.

The next generation of lambs (60,827)
by Terna from Nigeria

I notice mad love for Mariah on YouTube. In her video comments there's a new wave of fans picking interest in her music. Makes me smile and nostalgic recalling how I discovered Mariah way back in 1997. That Butterfly tape was everything back then. Lol. Of course it eventually got worn and so I went out and got the CD instead. Lol.

Album title (60,701)
by Terna from Nigeria
| |
|

I look at Mariah today and I see someone who's fought to be where she is today, genuinely happy, unchanged by fame, a bona-fide living legend with a legacy intact that would stand the test of time and most importantly a mother. Her new album must reflect this. Mariah Carey: Gold.

Your post made me lol. Well, I feel Stella is aware she needs to prove herself and so would go an extra mile even if it means cleaning house. That's a sign they're gearing up for something big. Mariah's stepping up her game, do you guys notice how her ensembles have really improved? The whole style. I'm loving this new improved Mariah Carey. It got me thinking, we always complained about all the yes fanatics on her team too scared to tell her as it is without morphing into Tommy part 2. Well, maybe this Stella lady is the answer to that.

I guess you're just old. Mimi L you're my favorite on this board. Keep being yourself, you are exactly what Mariah Carey stands for a beautiful person genuinely, inside as well as out.

When you believe Glasgow (60,484)

This song has always been my favorite duet ever but after watching this performance last night. Wow it hit me, am I glad to be part of the generation that got to experience two of the greatest singers this world will ever know? Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey sing a song so beautiful. The tears welled up as I watched the last of the true divas do what she does best, sing her heart out and connect with your soul. Thank you Mariah for singing this song.

Stella's response (60,376)

While agreed that it wasn't the most professional, it shows a manager who believes in her client and is ready to play her role as manager, that's a good thing. That Zeal is there and it can never be a bad thing. Her "Mariah's on fire" quote made me smile, she has faith in Mariah and her abilities something even fans here have since lost.

Infinity (60,222)
by Terna from Nigeria
| |
|
|
Mariah never indicated Infinity was crafted for a hit, what it was was a theme for her Las Vegas residency. It's all a matter of opinion, I see Infinity as a catchy song, not quite radio friendly yes, but a good memorable singalong song and a solid vocal performance. I would pick Infinity over Rihanna's "Work" or Beyoncé's "Formation" any day. It's all music should sound like but those two other songs, well never mind.

JLo (60,176)
by Terna from Nigeria
| |
|
|
I don't like the idea of her being in the same building with Mariah, talk less of using the same studios for recording, recording engineers and so on. There's just something off about Jennifer Lopez I can't quite place my finger on in a negative way. She seems to copy Mariah in a very disturbing almost stalker like way, in almost everything she does and to think she's gonna have access to Mariah being label mates now is mind boggling. And then there's the other factors. Her song thieving ways. (Remember how closely guarded The Emancipation Of Mimi was? JLo was the main reason.) Her twisted manager Benny. If I were Mariah I would feel betrayed by LA.

She's looking her best so far this year like are you serious? I don't see tiredness, I see a woman who looks a decade younger than her true age, glowing, fresh and in the best space she has ever been in years. Easily the best looking female at the event.

LA Reid's sing to me book (59,991)
by Terna from Nigeria
| |
|
|
I stumbled across a excerpt from his book about Mariah and the process of crafting the record we now know as The Emancipation Of Mimi. What a revealing read it was. That man is quite special, and knows music, and the music business. But most importantly he follows his heart or instincts as some of us would call it, a trait that proved very instrumental in the success of that album. Had Mariah not made that trip to Atlanta, ILT, SIO and most importantly We Belong Together might not ever have happened. Here's a lil part of it. "Something was bothering me. I didn’t want to say what I had to say, but I went ahead and said it with our glasses poised mid-toast. 'Guys, we’re not finished,' I said. They put their glasses down and looked at me incredulously. 'Seriously, it’s really close,' I said, 'but there’s something missing.' Wow thank God for LA Reid."

Rainbow (59,787)
by Terna from Nigeria
| |
|
|
This was my first ever Mariah Carey album on CD back in 1999, the euphoria when "Bliss" came on, and the big grin on my face lol. I love everything about Rainbow and it's one of her albums that I got in the moment, so I'll always be attached to that album. I do agree that it does indeed have an overall unpolished almost demo like sound to it, which gives it this vibe. There's also this uncertain feeling attached to that album everytime I play it. I still cherish the album though. OK I'm gonna listen to it right now lol.

Mariah new songs (59,094)
by Terna from Nigeria
| |

Diane Warren hinted that they had written a hit together last year, then there's the Calvin Harris superstar track. Also songs we heard about during the Elusive era like Hope Street, Kick Rocks and a host of others (I've forgotten their titles). I have a good feeling about this year. It's going to be extremely successful for Mariah and she's gonna have her biggest era ever. Don't think this woman doesn't know what she's doing, recall how hush hush The Emancipation Of Mimi was until it exploded on the charts lol. The element of surprise is golden.

You know I thought of this the other day. Does Mariah have any easy songs to sing along to? Well, I'd say Hero is easy and so is We Belong Together and Vision Of Love (for me though lol). Harder ones include Through The Rain, Mine Again, Stay The Night. She sings out of her range on these.

Her songs don't make me cry (58,886)
by Terna from Nigeria
| |
|

What's with the emotional wreck of lambs in here bawling to just a few opening notes of her music? Mariah's songs don't make me cry, they uplift me even those which are seemingly sad songs so to speak. Whenever I'm in a bad mood or going through stuff I play her music. Something about her that helps you escape pain and takes you to a calm place. Not bawling and crying river.

Adele and 25 (58,823)
by Terna from Nigeria
| |
|
|
Before I go further let me clarify that I'm a lover of Adele, have all 3 of her albums and some of her songs have never left my music playlist. Having said that, I'd give my two cents on her singing and most recent album 25. Adele is not on my top ten list of fave female singers for obvious reasons. She seems to sing in just one key, and for someone who's a fan of Mariah Carey I find that a big minus for her. What carries her is her storytelling ability in song (something Carey also possesses). But she lacks soul which Mariah Carey has in droves. Hello is the strongest song and vocal performance on 25. Thus the first single pick it got to great effect. However that doesn't make the whole album an automatic A+ in my book. I found it to be a total snoozefest with the exception of Hello. No other songs really stuck out and sat in my mind the way Hello did and even with that song, I got tired of quick. So why all the Adele vs Mariah comparisms? She's not even close lyrically talk less of vocally for Mariah to take notes from as I've seen some of you post here. What an insult to Mariah Carey.

Are you for real? What you described is what makes Mariah miles ahead of her peers, her ability to make 3D music (for lack of a better term). And you wanna speak about her craft and I dare say perfect harmonies like they don't matter and comparing someone as basic as Adele (yeah finally someone called it as it truly is, she isn't the second coming of Christ) more relatable? Have several seats for that. The number of trolls that have infested this message board over the years is worrying. Happy New Mariah Carey filled and saturated year guys. We both know she's coming for heads this time.
