this_is_qhm from the Philippines, great clusters. They are so good, I'll copy them to put them into my playlist. The different themes and songs are perfect for any kind of mood. That's one thing I love about Mariah.

I didn't know there was a new rule with the remixes. Interesting. But that explains a lot. I'm lucky as well to have experienced the time where a remix was a real remix. (Sometimes even better than the original song.)

That's true. Who wouldn't leave if Stella and the circus is around? It's very frightening. I was frightened just to look at the pics at that time. Reminds me how good it is that she is gone with her clan.

Hi Edward, I think a lot of the lambily like Nick Cannon. I always thought Mariah and him look like a nice, sweet couple. She was always smiling and seemed very happy. Nobody will ever know the true reasons why it didn't last, it's private so everyone is just speculating including me. It's great that the kids have loving parents. I just don't like how he spoke in the past in some interviews about Mariah. There was one interview I won't repeat what exactly he said, but it was nothing a gentleman would say and tell the public. And I don't believe he had no chance to do right. Family should always be first, not the tv jobs. Let the people talk. He knew that she's one of the most famous singers in the world. Not easy, for any man. There are so many examples where the women were more famous and more powerful which lead to problems: Arthur Miller/Marylin Monroe, Richard Burton/Liz Tyler, Bobby Brown/Whitney Houston just to name a few. It has nothing to do with the skin colour or nationality. Like you have mentioned even a billionaire like James Packer couldn't handle it. I leave this topic that Mariah is no saint but Nick is also not only the almighty/Mr. Incredible ok?

Love it too, it's a legendary concert. I watched it on tv, was it 98? I still have it on a VHS cassette. I feel old haha. Since then I love it. I totally agree, she was rocking the stage, a true diva. Everything was on point. The other divas/singers were great too. Good times.

All the things Nick said during that time were so tasteless and hurtful. Imagine your husband would talk like that. It's not acceptable. I think even as a comedy act/entertainer it's completely wrong to talk about those private things. We all know Mariah hates it like nothing else. So maybe to be more "provocative" at the end was his plan like "the real deal" on this board said. I still think Nick was a bit starstruck from the beginning and realized that Mariah is only human with mistakes like everyone else. To be called Mr. Carey and took a back seat is not easy as well. But no surprise. That she trusted a self-exposer with a big mouth is hard to understand. Well must have been love.

Ribbon B. you're right "Faded" and "Cry" are also obvious. I always get a little sad if I listen to them. I usually love her sad, longing songs but with the slow songs on MIAMTEC it's different because of the divorce in real life. And I still wonder if "Don't explain" was a "message" or not. I hope the new album has more songs with a positive energy. To quote Licia, "To be fair lets put all her wrong doings on the table too." That's true, they are both grown-ups and they both made mistakes I guess. If they are all happy or at least ok with the situation, that's fine.

I read an interview where Nick said that he was "addicted" to instagram and that's why he deleted it. Now I'm pretty sure that "Thirsty" is about him. The same with "Camouflage". Anyway I think the whole family situation is not so easy for MC like it seems. It looks like they are "co-parenting" very well but that Nick has become father again and didn't stay with his ex (the model) only shows that he is the womanizer everybody was telling from the beginning. The day will come when Monroe will ask more questions. (Why her beloved parents are not together anymore and so on.) I mean family things are often difficult but if your parents are famous, that's another thing. So enough said about those "private things".

Licia you have a great taste. Just like Mariah. Honestly I didn't know most of the songs Mariah used for a sample, but I discoverd a lot of them. They are all fantastic. At the moment I really enjoy "Funkin' for Jamaica" by Tom Browne. MC's version "Don't stop" is still grooving. "Last night a DJ saved my life" is also such a classic tune.

Yeah I wish that too. I was watching "The ones" [sic] DVD and I am still amazed of her older videos and live performances. Never tired of it (after watching a hundred times.) Lol. If I think of the hidden gems, that would be a dream if they get released. Plus the "Charmbracelet tour" DVD. Mariah owns this "treasure" there must be a way to release a cd plus DVD package with rare and hidden music for her fans.

Lara great quote, it's true. I also think if Mariah would explain the situation or why she doesn't want to sing some people would maybe understand. But like many on this board said, she can do what she wants to, that is something she has achieved most people can't. And it's also true that people expect a singer to sing (even her fans seems to expect it). Personally I think no one should be forced to sing at a birthday party, another vip event or a tv show if the singer doesn't want to. But I agree it would be nice to know some reasons or feelings from her. One thing is clear, to be 28 years in the music biz as a global superstar leaves traces. The advice with "press delete" is very good, I'll press repeat and enjoy Miss Mariah.

Just one note, but it sounds very good. I discovered "Don't stop the music" three weeks ago on YouTube (was searching for some 80ies funk) and now I see Mariah on the clip. That's no coincidence. I wonder what she said to him.

I have to listen to Django Jane. I only know some songs from her debut and was surprised of the sound, very unique, almost like music for the cinema. It's true the current music scene seems dead. I bought three "best of" cd's because of the boring charts. (Whitney, Tina Turner and Janis Joplin.) I know it's a weird combination, but they are all great. I'm not into Rock music, but I like "Maybe" from Janis, more blues-like. So please Mariah, give us new music.

The ones / Do you know where you're going to (81,123)
by MusicfanJ from Germany
| |
|
|
Since there's no new song from MC, I listened to "The ones". It's unbelievable how many recognizable hits Mariah has. Sometimes as a fan you forget how long her journey has been and I'm so impressed that at a age of only 29 she's made music history with all the number ones. And a lot of her best songs weren't even released as singles. I thought of one song especially. It begins with M. Other question: Is anybody on the board who also loves "Do you know where you're going to"? I think it's a very underrated song.

Madonna's music isn't my taste (never was), but I don't skip "Frozen" or "The power of goodbye" if it's on the radio. Great pop songs, I have to admit. The producer of "Ray of light" also produced an album for Katie Melua, you can tell he has a special sound.

That snippet is so good. Thanks for sharing. I loved "Sweetheart" since the release. It's still such a cool, relaxed song. I want a version like this snippet. Mariah singing while giving autographs, a true diva and one of a kind (I mean it positive). Lucky audience.

"Mariah was so desperate to sound perfect that she created the illusion she was flawless." She simply did sound "perfect". Of course everyone has another taste of what that perfect thing is. For me it's the emotion, the softness of her voice and her "Mariah vocals" that makes MC so special to me. I don't think she was desperate at all. There are a lot of non-dubbed live versions online. The first time I saw her live, I was shocked that she sounded way better than on the cd. But if I listen to the so-praised Rihanna or Taylor Swift, that's what I call "smoke and mirrors". Good entertainers but not great at singing at all. There are non-famous musicians who are so much better than these popstars on the charts.

Mariah and Luis Miguel (81,083)
by MusicfanJ from Germany
| |
|
|
I watched some interviews during the Rainbow era and to see how Mariah was smiling when she was talking about Luis was almost heartbreaking. I really do believe her heart got broken many times. What I like about Luis is that he never said anything "childish" or bad to the press and media. Imagine Mariah writes a lovesong about Bryan, maybe we get some love tunes on the next album. MIAMTEC hasn't got ones.

by MusicfanJ from Germany

I've read a few times a lot of people don't like Rosie. But I enjoy every interview with Mariah and Rosie. They are all great and fun. This one really made my day. Mariah is the only person I could watch talking for hours. I love her speaking voice. And she looked like an angel/goddess during Butterfly. As I said many times, her natural beauty is just stunning. Still is.

I totally agree. This performance is everthing. Love it. It's true she seemed so careless and confident at the same time. It's a great song. And Mariah looks so cool with the hat, the sunglasses and the baggy. Just stunning. This is what I call star power. She never needed to dance like a dancer, her two steps are perfect.

Hi Mike, I don't know if they're official. They sound official, but I can imagine they were put together from acapella versions and other official versions. I wonder as well if they're "only" fan-made or official? Either way I won't miss them anymore.

Oh how could I forget Petals and Close My Eyes. Since it is online, I listen almost every day to the Close My Eyes version. It's so relaxing and dreamy. If there's an official cd, I would immediately buy it. One cd with stripped versions, and the other with live songs and never released songs. One can only dream, I know.

Stripped versions of Mariah's gems (81,002)
by MusicfanJ from Germany

I can't stop listening to those "stripped versions". The originals are all fantastic and definitely fan favorites. But somehow the versions on YouTube bring new life to the songs, there are notes I never heard on the originals. What's your favorite? Mine are "Can't let go", "Anytime you need a friend", "Fourth of July" and "Outside".

Mariah and Whitney Oprah special (80,999)
by MusicfanJ from Germany
| |
|
|
I always loved this tv-special. When they sang together it was pure magic. This song gets me everytime. I'm just speechless about so much power and beauty in one room. Someone mentioned how Mariah must feel since Whitney's passing. (To be one of the few living legends must be very hard sometimes.) I do believe it changed something inside of her. The current music by "today's singers" seems boring to me. I'm always "shocked" if I watch the charts on deluxe music tv. So I'll enjoy some real good music with heart and soul on it. Guess who?
