About Edward from USA:

Re: Mariah sales (86,514) (86,524) by Edward from USA
Special K, I do like all facets of Mariah's music, but some more than others. I'm not criticizing her choice of music, but you like most of us very well know what happened to her fan base when she morphed, all of a sudden, from the girl next door to sexy Mariah and then to Hoodriah, it doesn't mean that's good or bad, it just means that her fan base got divided. I do like Hip Hop, others don't. I stayed onboard through her transition, many others didn't. It is what it is. And yes, Mariah is a hood-ghetto wannabe, she can try, but she always fails miserably. Having three rappers on your songs, getting your head braided, saying a couple of f you's or hanging out with Rae Rae and Mae Mae doesn't automatically give you a hood pass. Beyonce can shake that thang as much as she wants, and hood or ghetto she is not, ever, Jay-Z is. Same for Thalia, Ariana and some others. Incorporating Hip Hop in your music doesn't give you street credibility or make you part of the culture. Jennifer Lopez actually was born and raised in the hood, but being hood doesn't mean being uneducated. It's simple, Mariah made music and image choices, some followed some didn't, it happens. I'm happy Mariah actually switched it up a bit, I don't think she would be here had she kept on singing only ballads.

Re: Mariah sales (86,497) (86,511) by Edward from USA
Barbra Streisand has always had loyal fans that support her, but because she's always been consistent and they've never felt alienated by her. We don't really know what kind of artist Mariah is anymore, I actually take her as-is, not expectations, less disappointments. She lost a whole chunk of her fan base when she went full-blown hood-ghetto wannabe, the other chunk she lost with her diva antics and crazy behavior. Barbra fans are not toddlers or teens, but Mariah seems to be catering to 12-21 year olds. It is actually amazing she still can pull 50K albums considering that in the past few years, she's been in the limelight for her failed lipping, questionable behavior and a crazy reality TV show. As I said before, fans alone won't take Mariah's music anywhere, if the general public doesn't connect to her and her music, it's a big fat wrap. It's a good thing that damage control has been set in place for a while now, but it will take time for people to actually acclimate to her again, it's what happened with TEOM, but the music was crazy good back then and the money was rolling in. Caution is a good album, short and sweet. Yes, it's not classic Mariah at all, but it's a good album nonetheless. We all wanted Mariah to produce songs she could sing live, but I thought she would at least go all out on some of the songs. She never really raise her voice on any of the songs and the second part turns into a boring fest. Runway is actually the only song in the album on which Mariah's voice sounds as good as anything on E=MC2, but she decided not to put it in the album. It's a good thing I got my hands on it, because it's an excellent album closer for me, at least it pleasantly wakes me up at the end if I fall asleep from "The Distance" on.

You're not stupid. You just did an unforgivable stupid thing. Sometimes it happens to some people. No need to apologize. We love everybody.

B, if you write another post with the words "signature sound" in it, I'll scratch your face.

Proceed with Caution (86,040) by Edward from USA
1. GTFO (great track)
2. With You (I love me some "With you")
3. Caution (kind of generic for me, meh)
4. A No No (I liked this one from first listen)
5. The Distance (best single possibility)
6. Giving Me Life (a gem, especially the last minute, ethereal)
7. One Mo' Gen' (fun, lots of sexual visuals )
8. 8th Grade (I loved it instantly)
9. Stay Long Love You (after 3rd listen, I like it, catchy)
10. Portrait (beautifully sung, so Mariah. I wish she had gone full force vocally on this one, but it's still beautiful)
11. Runway (The Slipping Away of this album)
12. Runway (ft. KOHH) (I don't understand what the Japanese guy is saying, but it sounds very cool, both versions are great)
"Caution" should've definitely be replaced by "Runway".

This is great effort by Mariah. It's good I first read all your comments before I listened so I knew what to expect. I hope Mariah does something about her voice for her next album, the decline has been so quick within a few years, I'm kind of worried, but I'm happy with the album though.

Top 4 from Caution (85,914) by Edward from USA
1. With You ("Ooh, shots of Remy" at 3:02, is everything.)
2. The Distance (Should've been the first single.)
3. GTFO (Nice, different, but a little boring.)
4. A No No (Very fun, but "TD" is way better.)

I was hoping (85,825) by Edward from USA
I really was hoping for a deluxe version of "Caution" with at least four or five extra tracks. So far I like what I've heard, but it makes me a little disappointed that there's only 6 more tracks left. I hope the Japanese bonus track is not just another "Sprung", "Secret Love" or "Infinity" type of track, fingers crossed.

Re: Poor Rainbow, record rankings (85,776) (85,794) by Edward from USA
I like "There For Me" and I would definitely switch it for "Did I Do That" on "Rainbow". The lyrics are meaningful, but the song is boring and kind of sung without soul. This is not the case with "Right To Dream" which she sings like she means it, with soul.

Re: Mariah, Mariah (85,697) (85,700) by Edward from USA
Mariah told me to tell you: "Hey, I see you up there." She's been sending you the royalties for your sample, but you seemed to have moved or something.

Re: Brenda K Starr mad Tommy / Mariah destroyed her? (85,675) (85,686) by Edward from USA
Brenda K Starr is mad at Mariah because Mariah took her #13 hit and made it a top 5. Mariah also promised she would buy her a house, but Brenda is still waiting.

Happy Birthday, Licia. I hope you're having a great day. And keep in mind that God rewards with a "Charmbracelet party" to those who vote on their birthdays.

For her 19th #1, "Defective Earpieces". How could you've forgotten? That's like mentioning Andrew's lovers leaving Victoria out, or having a "Charmbracelet party" and not inviting Licia. Oh no you did not.

Re: Irregardless (85,477) (85,484) by Edward from USA
Grethchen Wieners said: "Irregardless, ex-boyfriends are just off-limits to friends." I think Mariah clearly knows the word "irregardless" doesn't exist, but she loves pulling herself a mean-girls every now and then.
