I understand what you mean. Unfortunately I'm not happy at all too about a feature for a Ariana song. I never liked her music and her presentation. Mariah is strong enough alone. Doing jazz music, a gospel song, a real lead single like Fantasy, Honey. So I still have to wait for new Mariah music by her own. So thank u, next becomes a whole new meaning musicwise.

Ariana Grande's announcement about the remix for Yes, And? forced me to go on YouTube and listen to the damn song. It is that how much I do not care about Ariana Grande. Never liked her, even on Oh Santa. I only listen to Mariah's solo version. I was hoping that this news was fake, but I guess I was wrong. I will explain and this is only my personal belief. I an old school Mariah fan. Call me delusional or whatever, but I really do not like when she is someone's feature or doing a remix, because I still think that she can stand as an artist by herself and still be relevant by herself. I am not talking here about duets or she having someone in a song (rapper or whatever). It is her being a feature on someone else's song that I am not a fan off. Especially when the song is lame and boring, such as Yes, And? Again, this is only my personal taste. I didn't like her on Latto's Big Energy - just spoiled the fantasy for me and made it cheap and vulgar. Again, my personal taste. I didn't like her doing French Montana's Unforgettable - why? What was the purpose of that? #Beautiful? I will never get over having Miguel on that song and him singing almost every thing as like she is his feature. I know I will get a lot hate for this but these are my views and I am really disappointed with this collaboration. If only the song was good. And ear candy. I just don't get it.

Hate to break it to you, but Mariah will not release anything this year. There, I said it. It's 10 years since the release of MIAMTEC, Mariah has only released 1 studio album (Caution). She is completely wasting her annual Christmas hype. I am shocked once again, that January passed and she had nothing to capitalize on it. She's doing this game every year. So I don't really see this year being any different. Don't count on it, you're just going to be disappointed. Unfortunately, I think Mariah is surrounded by the wrong people.

"Save the day" is the only Mariah song I don't like. I really tried but the song just dosen't connect with me. I love "Kiliing me softly" and the original by Roberta Flack but even the great sample doesn't save "Save the day". With 100% I only have it on mp3 and rarely listen to it. But Mariah's music catalogue is really overwhelming. The joy and discovering never stop. For every mood a song and memories.

Who is Caution about? (105,168)
by MusicfanJ from Germany
| |
|
|
Good questions. I do believe that Ben was in love with Mariah. Who could not in 90? But of course we don't know. I can't remember from the book too. I have the original in English and it was not easy to read as an non-native speaker. So maybe some of you know more from the chapter of her book?
I think if Tommy wasn't so controlling, it could have worked out. At least longer than it did. It's really a tragic "love story". Yes, Glitter wouldn't have happened.
I have to listen to Caution today. "Giving me Life" is so cool. Could it be about Derek Jeter because of the Norma Jean reference like Marilyn and Joe DiMaggio?

Who is Caution about? (105,167)
by Jamie from UK

I was only thinking about Ben Margulies the other day. Do you think he was infatuated with Mariah and that's why he was side lined? Seems odd that he co wrote her first three singles all going to number one. I may have forgotten something from the book, it's a while since I read it and I'm old lol. Was it the start of Tommy's control?
Was also curious the other day, had Mariah not wanted to break out into R&B at the time would her marriage to Tommy have lasted longer? She clearly says in Petals that she really loved him. If he'd not been so controlling I wonder if they could have worked for longer. Relationships are complicated things and sometimes it's a case of two people being out the worst in each other but you can still truly love the person. Had they lasted longer in be interested to see what her next couple of albums would have been like, Glitter wouldn't have happened, whilst bipolar is generally inherited (I have it myself) she may not have had such a severe breakdown and maybe would not have as many issues now.
This is just me thinking hypothetically I'm just interested in peoples spin on things.

I've always loved her mystery. She was a complete mystery to me back in 95/96 especially and also in 97. I remember when Butterfly was released, it was so much fun to discover all the people she worked with (Puffy aka P.Diddy, Mase, Missy, Sisco, Brian McKnight). So yes, I hope we get some surprises. Just for the nostalgia.

Robert, I think Mariah should keep her mouth shut like back in the day when we didn't have to know everything. It was more exciting when we discovered collaborations and producers a few days before albums were released. I just hope she has videos, remixes and a plan by the time she drops the album. Mariah used to have a veil of mystery around her, I hope she brings that back.

I want a jazz album by Mariah. I don't care about teenage listeners. But if we get a smash dance hit, that would be great too. Or retro-soul inspired songs like "When I feel it", "Meteorite" and "Mezmerized". I think Mariah will surprise us anyway. So we'll see what direction she finally choose.

I'm confused what people are asking, do you want Mariah to have another [hit] that resonates with young listeners, or try and reignite the fire that was the holy trinity of the '90's (Mariah, Whitney, Celine)? I want Mariah to have a smash dance hit that breaks her mold. We talk about how [Charmbracelet] walked, so TEOM could sprint. I have the same feeling about Caution. it was a precursor to what we will experience next.
On a different note, who said "no one expected Mariah to speak like that" in regard to GTFO? GTFO, and the [remix] she's on for Unforgettable ("Sip on this drink 'till I'm [censored] up"), even "Clown" from [Charmbracelet] ("I should've never given you my [censored] two way") she sings the "f-word". Mariah's success is based on her versatility. Christmas to f-bombs. I personally love it.

Second hand (105,021)
by MusicfanJ from Germany

I would love to travel to the USA one day. Are you from Nashville? I love travelling in general. The place sounds good for a collector. 25 cents for a maxi single, best price. To buy second hand is really fun and good for the wallet. I started to buy used dvd's and cd's on Amazon Marketplace, the items were always in good condition. But if you're at a place where you can browse and a have a little conversation, that's even better for sure.

If you ever get to the U.S and travel to Nashville, Tennessee, checkout McKays Used Books, CDs, and DVD's, etc. If you are looking for anything, they will have it because the locals sell their unwanted items for cash or credit. They mark down scratched CDs to 25 cents. I found Britney's Toxic maxi single for 25 cents. That's how I built up my collection. You may even start a conversation with an old fellow looking for a Charlie Daniels or George Jones CD. Lol.

Princes Mariah would suit her. I think a true partner must not be a Hollywood man in general, but a grown-up man who stands with both feet on the ground and isn't lurking for fame and money. I think that falling in love is such an important part of life that it will happen to Mariah whenever she is ready and it will become a priority if the love feels right. I think she can do both things simultaneously like every one of us. I just want her next man to be an A+ Hollywood star, a powerful business man, or someone with royal lineage. Kardashian Konnection (104,955)

Speaking of Kardashian Konnection (intentional spelling change), I said this before and I'll say it again, Mariah has a decent music manager (didn't she leave with the RocNation manager?) but for her other publicity stuff Kris Jenner works magic. She literally turned a family with no real talent to a multi billion dollar empire, imagine what she can do with Mariah. Yes Kanye helped them get to the A list, but Mariah is already A+ list celeb, she just needs the proper exposure. Kardashians are no longer trashy with their content. They are very well curated and have done a lot of work to shift their image from reality stars to business moguls. Look at all the speaking events Kim does at Harvard , White House and so much more. They are also well connected. Mariah doesn't really need their connections because she has them either ways but what Kris can do is utilise those. Get her on the Met List, Vogue (how has she never had a Vogue cover), get her all the right interviews, curate her Instagram, brand deals and a lot more. The possibilities are endless and with Mariah trying new things (like finally accepting her nonexistent bad side) why not try the Kardashian effect. I know this is an unpopular opinion but here we are lol.

Album ideas (104,902)
by MusicfanJ from Germany

Bill I love all your album ideas. I really wish we would get at least two of your ideas. My favourite would be of course the Jazz album "They call the wind Mariah". I've been listening to "Lullaby of Birdland" and "Nevertheless I'm in Love with you" on repeat. Mariah can sing almost every genre but she's really a hidden jazz lady. And her diva style suits it as well. But the other ideas are also great. I think almost every fan heart would be pleased too.

Album ideas (104,901)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
As it's been over half a decade since Mariah's last album, here are some ideas to help wile away the time.
*They Call the Wind Mariah* A collection of jazz standards or jazz influenced numbers. The Wind from Emotions and studio versions of Lullaby of Birdland and Don't Explain could also feature. It would also have some Mariah-penned jazz numbers and some of the old torch songs of old. It'd suit her current voice well.
*Mariah Carey Presents... The Butterfly Lounge* Her hits and some fan favourites re-worked a la the Late Night Valentine's version of We Belong Together. Also include The Roof with Brandy.
*Reckless* Caution's sequel or counterpart. A companion piece to Caution, with a lighter, brighter, more airy and free feel than the concise, precise, measured delivery of Caution.
*I Am Free* (Mariah Carey and the Clark Sisters) Her long awaited gospel album. Much as The Price Sisters and Melanie should have got a credit on the Merry Christmas album for all they brought to the project, this would be a double-billed album as the Clark Sisters will feature on every song, on background and sharing the leads and working with MC on the vocal arrangements. Some new material and some of Mariah's gospel classics, like the title track, re-worked.
*And You Don't Remember* Mariah's hidden gems from her old albums in a compilation. No hit singles allowed. This is the space for Vanishing, the title track, Till the End of Time, All I've Ever Wanted, Melt Away, Outside etc. to get their day in the sun. Plus a couple of new vault tracks because why not.
*Songs In the Key of MC* As Andrew said, a new vibrant record with a party/E=MC2 vibe.

I think that is a great idea. She usually comes up with perfect album titles, except MIAMTEC, but including the fans suggestions she would have a lot more to choose from. I don't like Songs in the Key of MC either, Terna is right, it's too similar to Alicia Keys'. The Elusive Chanteuse would have been good enough for me or The Art of Letting Go even better instead of MIAMTEC. BTW Happy New Year everyone. I hope we get new MC album this year.

Yeah I'm tired of 2023. It wasn't a good one. I'm hoping for 2024. I'm ready for new music / new album by Mariah.

Lol. I didn't catch that she replied to herself. It has been one exhausting week for some of us. The Hot 100 chart news was devastating today. Somebody unearthed Crustella after Tanaka's and MC's breakup announcement to the media. Even I messed up bad this week and had to post my sincere apology. No more relationship analysis from me again. I will never be Dr. Phil. Cheers to the new year. I am ready for 2024.
