About Shezz from Pk: L4L

Tiny Desk (106,756) by Shezz from Pk
I think that is C's well informed opinion based on the last few years' live performances.

She would have nothing here to fall back on, no backing tracks, no play backs and if the last couple of years have showed us anything it's that MC won't perform without them.

Although I 100 percent believe she is capable of giving us a great Tiny Desk performance similar to what she did with Jimmy Fallon for AIWFCIY and the piano impromptu performance. I don't think she's not in good voice, she has lost the confidence in herself and her voice even though she has shown us flashes of it from time to time. Maybe she feels she can't do it at a stretch. It's still a mystery what happens to her during live performances. Maybe it's the perfectionist in her that doesn't want her audience to hear anything off.

Spring or fall album release preference (106,737) by Shezz from Pk
The insider account on X. Though of course it cannot be taken as concrete verified information. Most of the things they have said have been right so far. MC seems to be in a similar space she was during The Art of Letting Go and MIAM era. Revisiting her ideas and concept over and over. I hope she does not over think and lose the spark of spontaneity. She probably has 3 albums worth of material ready by now. So curious to hear her talk about this album and its process when it's finally done. Robert Anthony - What you seek is seeking you.

Spring or fall album release preference (106,729) by Shezz from Pk
Yeah I think unless she releases the first single in August, she will push it to early next year. Apparently the nameless producer she was in the studio with all week is not Anderson Paak, although she has recorded stuff with him as well. Insider hinted that it might have been Bruno Mars. I think you've been wanting her to work with him as well right? Apparently Rareties 2 is also to be released this year. If she's still working on MC16, she probably plans to release Rareties 2 later this year to keep us going till MC16. I am not sure if MC30 will be a very big thing. She already did MC25. I don't think she celebrates 25 and 30. 30s only of those whose 25 she missed. Let's see what MC has planned.

New Vogue article (106,706) by Shezz from Pk
Sorry Eric if you've already put up this article - it wasn't up at the time of this message.

So the Lauryn Hill song was never really a thing but MC16 is coming soon.

Danceriah appreciation post (106,580) by Shezz from Pk
This afternoon I was listening to the Portrait remix again (which has really grown on me, it really is a masterpiece) and it led me to revisit her other dance tracks (remixes) totally oblivious to the fact that Pride month has just started. Of course then I stumbled onto Spotify Pride lists and of course Mariah's impressive collection of house music was nowhere to be found. It wasn't that they were featuring younger artists only, there was plenty of Madonna. Only Mariah track on the list was Fantasy right at the end. So sad that her incredible house mixes haven't reached the masses. Spotify needs to up their game. Happy Pride month everybody. I can't wait for the Rainbow remix now.

Finished Rainbow song is coming (106,559) by Shezz from Pk
Robert Anthony, I'm pretty sure I read Mariah confirmed the full Rainbow remix in one of her recent interviews. It's part of Rainbow25. David Morales himself confirmed it as well.

Ah I'm sorry I misunderstood your message RA. You were not wondering if there is a finished Rainbow remix, you were wondering if it will be released in the coming weeks as opposed to in November for its anniversary.

Portrait remixes (106,516) by Shezz from Pk
I don't think they were painful at all. Pleasant but not amazing like the 90s house remixes of course. I don't think it's because of her voice, more to do with the song. Thankfully I don't hear the screeching and scratching that other people seem to. A nice addition to her remixes era. When did she release her last original song? Was it "Save the day"?

The remix (106,491) by Shezz from Pk
I don't think the song is bad at all Robert Anthony. I think the problem people are having is that it is nothing really new or fresh - it is the same mid tempo/slow RnB that she and JD have done to death. If rumours are to be believed, MC16 will have a different sound - more pop and dance focused which will be good for her to get back into mainstream audiences. The 'Yes, And' remix, had it been the original song it would have surely topped the charts with Ariana's first single pull and with the lambs also being onboard. Adding Mariahisms to older songs on their way out is what people are more against, I feel. I appreciate the fact that Ariana wanted Mariah's voice front and center even though it didn't work out as well as it should have. Shows the love and respect she has for 'mother' as she put it. Lets see if the new rumour about their next collaboration is true. It's supposed to be an original, not a remix. It may be for Ariana's deluxe edition that she is working on or maybe MC16 (one can dream). Funny that you mentioned "Lose Control". I had it on as I was reading your post. That'd be a great direction for her.

Unnecessary (106,489) by Shezz from Pk
I agree. I think she sounds pretty alright. I don't think she's expecting much from it, it's just in support of JD and Muni. She's barely even mentioned it before or after release. I do believe she elevates the song. Was it needed? Not really. It's not her first single from her new album, it wasn't hyped up to be anything either. It is what it is. I am looking forward to what she cooked up with Solange if they (hopefully) did infact work together. Next whatever we get, whenever - will be original MC16 material.

Muni and Mariah remix (106,470) by Shezz from Pk
I like it. I don't love it (yet). It could have been on any Mariah album, very reminiscent of other JD and BMC Mariah songs like [We belong together] and [Don't forget about us]. I will definitely be hearing this over the original (same like I do with Yes, And and Big Energy). Mariah sounds good, I wish it were a little longer. I mean we all knew exactly what the song sounds like anyway and with the [Billboard] remix rule, we weren't up for any surprises. I'd have liked to hear a Mariah only chorus like we heard in the clips. Robert Anthony, history shall have to wait. They do sound good together though.

Tune in to The Voice tonight (106,457) by Shezz from Pk
Ah. She's gonna premier it on The Voice? Insider has been saying that Mariah is going to perform the remix live to promote it. I hope it's true. I don't care if it's lipped. Knowing Mariah she will want the song to be heard with perfect vocals the first time it's being heard.

Mariah reminder (106,456) by Shezz from Pk
I agree. Unconditional for her always. The soundtrack of all our lives. She got me through some tough teenage years and beyond and I will be eternally grateful. She has enough people in the world mocking her and knocking her to have us turn on her as well.

Where is the remix?

Article: Mariah spent Mother's Day weekend in Westchester (106,452) by Shezz from Pk
My theory about the sudden turnaround with her mother is that she started therapy much later and we all know the first thing that comes up in therapy.

History is about to be made (106,447) by Shezz from Pk
Excited to hear the remix though I am not expecting it to do much on the charts. It will boost the original's chart position and the remix will not be credited as has happened before. Of course I would love to be proven wrong but I don't think this is MC's return to Billboard just yet. Also, the fact that MC hasn't posted anything about it herself yet, I think shows that she is not expecting much and is doing this as a favour to support Muni Long and for JD. MC is busy putting the final touches on MC16. Robert Anthony you better believe it. She apparently got JD recently onboard to help her finish the album (Insider). I hope she has a proper plan and delays her Christmas crossover to December this year or releases it right after the holiday season and uses that momentum. It will be interesting to see which way she chooses to go.

Muni Long remix (106,405) by Shezz from Pk
Same. This one has a video though apparently but of course it is a recording session video. Like the last two videos Fall in Love at Christmas and The Roof with Brandy. (Those are her last 2 videos right? Though the Brandy recording session video made sense.) At this point I don't know if it's budget issues or lack of will and creativity. I'm still excited to hear the song. Sounds like it should've been on Caution.

Muni Long remix (106,399) by Shezz from Pk
I love your optimism and enthusiasm Robert Anthony. The remix is supposedly dropping next week (insider). I don't quite see the original on the Hot 100 as they only show top 20 positions. RA when did this song hit its peak? Is it falling right now? I don't want it to be another "Yes, And" situation with her hopping on to a dying song and it only going to the lambs.

Apparently it will be sent to radio next week, maybe Def Jam might just put some weight behind it.

I love her collaborating with these current female singers but I wish they were original collaborations and not remixes of old songs. Although the Weekend's "Save your tears" remix with Ariana came after nearly a year and that did so well.

I think Mariah is trying to warm the general public up with these collaborations before hitting us with MC16. The lead single I think will come atleast 2 months after this release now. I just hope she paces herself properly - Merry Christmas 30 is not too far away. We don't want another Caution situation.

Why everybody hates the girl we don't know (106,382) by Shezz from Pk
Although there are similarities, I don't think it is quite like Mariah's Glitter debacle. Mariah was still around her peak (tail end) and was only around 30 with a majority of her career ahead of her. JLo was at her lowest popularity/ commercial success point before this album. It's like a bad ending to her career since she said this was most likely her last album. A final nail on her coffin. I don't think anybody or even she herself are thinking about she should come back from this. I'm not a fan but not a hater. Whereas I didn't mind her being exposed (being a lamb) I hope she was at least pleased herself with her last project.

I don't know why I feel like Mariah is poised/ gearing up for another favourable era. I'd be happy if she cracks the top 20 on the Hot100 again with her own material (with or without a guest but not as a feature herself).

Insider stuff (for laughs) (106,375) by Shezz from Pk
The insider who claimed Mariah was doing a remix with Ariana before it was announced (amongst other stuff about it that didn't materialize) had said a month ago that Mariah was working on another remix. Turned out to be the Muni Long one. Here are another couple of interesting things they are claiming:

1. The Audible BFL session is a prelude. She's managed a contract with a streaming giant for the rest of it finally. In another post they said Vevo is teaming up with a great female artist for a special series of performances.

2. Mariah x Ariana (again). Not sure whether it's for BFL or MC16 (if true).

I think we have some interesting times ahead - 2 of which are confirmed, the Muni Long remix and the Audible session. I am sure there's more to come.

Met Gala (106,361) by Shezz from Pk
I wonder if they have ever invited her to the event. I'm sure at some point they must have. She might not be the most fashion forward but she is a huge star. Maybe they stopped inviting her after she showed no interest?

Interestingly enough I don't think she has ever been on the cover of Vogue. 1994 was a feature not the cover, that's all that comes to mind. I wouldn't be surprised if Anna Wintour is not a big fan hence no cover or met gala?

Mimi L - this is your department. Enlighten us.

A Daydream release in 2024 (106,292) by Shezz from Pk
Mimi L. I couldn't agree more. No more huge eras from her for sure. She has done what she wanted to. You can tell there's been a major change in her since Caution. We don't know what's going on, I doubt we ever will but I'm happy she's still there in whatever capacity she is and she hasn't retired.

I'm happy I saw her live at the Caution tour. She was animated, happy and full of life. I could barely tell when she was lipping from the audience but she did sing a beautiful snippet of "Slipping Away".

I strongly believe that she will release the projects she's been working on. Either one or two or all of the ones she's been talking about since covid, anybody's guess.

A Daydream release in 2024 (106,282) by Shezz from Pk
Haha Mimi L has been paying attention to Taylor's lyrics. To be honest I quite liked Folklore and Evermore. Midnights grew on me. All the songs on this album are pleasant but tend to blur into one long two hour song.

I read an interview of her's (Taylor) recently where she said she knows her years are numbered now that she's crossed 30 and she wants to work as hard as possible and create as much music as she can while she's still popular. I didn't quite know how to feel about that. On one hand I appreciated her awareness, on the other hand I felt like she's making herself into the fast food equivalent of music. Of course every artist wants success and thrives on it but it felt like commercial success is paramount to her before all.

Which then lead me to think this was Mariah in the 90s. She created the most albums, most regularly while she was commercially successful. When they stopped selling as much, she slowed down majorly. I suppose that's human nature (and business).

Uhmmm Mimi's deep cuts are MIA (106,160) by Shezz from Pk
Mimi L. from the setlist I saw (not sure how accurate it was), it seemed like she was doing an "eras" show - going along chronologically, closing with TEOM. In some ways that does seem odd that she's leaving out some great stuff from later but then that was last great "era". E=MC2 fizzled out too soon after TMB.
