Article: Now he's touching her body (78,735)
by Edward from USA

She really looks like a poorly wrapped tamale. Who the hell is telling this woman she looks OK or presentable in that outfit? She's acting like a middle age woman desperate to look like a 15-year old without the body to show for. It's disgusting. And yes, this is a fan site, but all we've been getting from her "art" lately is nothing. She should just disappear from the public eye for a year and come back at least looking decent. And let's not start blaming Stella now, yes, I can't stand the woman, but Mariah claims herself to be an Alpha-female. She's not even playing the Alpha-cougar role right. She has a hot cougaree who probably hasn't even gotten to see a nipple yet. Yes, I miss Mariah's grace from 1990 to 2010. She's progressively lost it.

Nothing's wrong with Mariah's neck, stop trolling. Her face and neck look like that when she has a heavy breakfast. She'll be looking fine in no time. By the time the new album comes out, she'll be rock-n-rolling.

Wow, I'm so happy somebody here thinks like me about Migrate. I think this underrated song should be discussed more often here, it doesn't get enough credit or mentioned much. Another song that nobody talks about is "You Don't Know What To Do", I also think it should've been a single.

I agree. I've been to her shows at The Beacon Theater, and it felt like the Charmbracelet tour, intimate. The venue in Las Vegas would definitely bring her more money. She's clearly after money now, I don't understand the desperation though. I know making an album wouldn't really bring her any money because she's not popular like that anymore, but I always thought of Mariah as an artist with integrity, not a sell out. Before we would have time to miss her, now she's everywhere and in everything as if she didn't have a dime. If she at least carried Hershel differently, but I'm always hoping not to see her singing "Shake If Off" while working out on high heels on the treadmill. How could you go from being a supreme icon to this? I've often wondered.

Is it time? (78,499)
by Edward from USA
| |

I was reading some of the comments here and the logic behind them. Some very well thought out comments state that since Mariah is nearly 50 she should get "I don't want to move my ass two steps because I'm drunk" pass. According to that logic Madonna should be drag on wheelchair on stage then since she's nearly 60. Mariah is a millionaire, if she has decided to be stiff and not give two f's about performing, I think it is time for her to invest in her very own decorated hovearound. Yes, she needs an electric chair she could move around on stage saying two and a half darhlings here and there, since she's too old, two complete utterances of the word dahling might be taxing on her joints and vocal chords. I think Mariah should produce and write for other people, her career has turned into a joke. I remember when being her fan was something to be proud of. I'm a fan, but I don't dare saying it in public. Those days of being a proud fan are long gone.

Article: Mariah Carey gets another shot at reality TV (78,402)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
What's up with all this touring? When will Mariah disappear for a while and come back fresh and with new music? At some point she should give people time to miss her and whatever music she comes out with. I think her Christmas show and her Vegas residency should be enough for next year while she works on new music. Going on tour to celebrate Butterfly to sing the same old tired boring songs wouldn't make sense to me.

Toni was asked about dueting with Mariah, and she said she was down, but that she knew they were two divas. She said jokingly, as if they would be demanding stuff, like weave made of unicorn tail or manicure woman for each of their 20 toes and fingers.

I love Whitney and Cox's "Same Script Different Cast" duet. If Mariah and Toni could bring something similar to the table, it would be great. I wish for Mariah to cover Whitney's "One Moment In Time" or "Saving All My Love for You", as long as she doesn't butch them like she did with "One More Try" or course.

I don't even think Miss You Most At Christmas Time would be more difficult to sing than "O Holy Night", and she would make the crowd go crazy by even teasing a verse. It's always been my favorite track from Merry Christmas.

After "Crapfinity" with its horrendous remix, "She Didn't", and "Infamous", "Unforgettable" is a step in a right direction and it shows she can still deliver. Of course she's not going to be featured much in a track that already has two other people in it. What she brought to the table was great. Her part gives the track an ethereal sound that the original didn't have. After three fails, this one is definitely a great collaboration. We have to remember this is just a feature, not her song. She has given many other newcomers a push. It's perfectly OK if she gets a push from more popular artists now.

Christmas in September (78,287)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
I'm very happy that UK fans will be able to experience the Christmas show. It's a short but great show production wise. There's not much talking or distractions, just the Christmas spirit vividly captured throughout the whole show. I'm also happy because many fans are closer to the UK and could go see her without putting a huge dent in their wallets. I hope this singing in Vegas, with Lionel and such put Mariah in a good place vocally to deliver an excellent album. I wish for an E=MC2 type of album. Great vocals and fun. I remember one of the reviews from that album stated that Mariah was singing with such confident in it that she was delivered the songs effortlessly. I hope she got that confident back, it's time. If not now, when?

Article: Taylor Swift leaps to no. 1 on Hot 100 (78,285)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
If I were asked to name a song by Taylor Swift, I could only say "Shake It Off" because Mariah has a song with the same title, but I'm glad Taylor soared to #1. Many had come close to tying the 16 weeks record, but nobody had been able to tie it or surpass it up until Despacito joined them at the top last week. Mariah and Boyz II Men broke the then current record setting a new one, and they're still holding that record. This time though they're in the presence of new company. Justin likes Mariah and has worked with her twice, and Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee representing the Latino community. Let's see how long can this record last. The fact that this record was almost broken after all these years made me realize that I don't care much about it anymore. I do really care about Mariah thinking outside her books and weaves putting good music out, she's still capable. Unforgettable is an example of that.

Unforgettable acoustic (78,244)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
Wow, just wow. Mariah whistle sounds so hypnotic on this track. Everything flow so smoothly as if all the elements were supposed to be there from the beginning. The acoustic version definitely highlights Mariah's vocals and takes the song to a different level. Different from #Beautiful which was a good song, but kind of too short as if something was missing, in my opinion, Unforgettable is epic, different, and contagious. Kudos to Mariah for finally trying getting on board of something different. As I said before, I'm longing more for quality music than for her to keep records that don't necessarily bring anything new to the table. Unforgettable is finally Mariah stepping out of her comfort zone. I'm just sad these remixes are not being played or served to radio. Unforgettable is how you take three artists and put them in a song with balance without sounding messy. I hope Mariah keeps on this route. It might actually be time for her own Ray of Light.

As I said in my post, Justin definitely gave the song a push, but the song was growing on people. Another clear indication that the song was most likely going to be successful is the fact that Justin is first not singing mostly in Spanish, and second he's nowhere featured in the video that has reached nearly 4 billions views. The video that broke and set the record doesn't feature him. I'm not taking merits away from Justin, I'm just saying that it's evident that millions of people seem to like the song hence its popularity. That's why I cringe every time I think how Mariah lost an excellent opportunity with Justin when they made that Crapfinity mess. As a fan I obviously want Mariah to keep this record. Many great songs came close, but none past the 14 week mark. At least she broke the previous record, set a new one and most likely keep it for many years to come.

Following a first chart week of sales and streaming data tracking (August 25-31), Taylor Swift's Look What You Make Me Do after its August 25 arrival, and a first full week of airplay tracking (August 28-September 3), should storm to No. 1. On the new September 9-dated Hot 100, the track debuts at No. 77 powered by its first three days of airplay. According to industry projections, "Look," the first single from Swift's album Reputation, due November 10, could sell between 400,000 and 500,000 downloads in its first week. That could mark the highest weekly total since Adele's "Hello" sold 480,000 downloads in its third week. Along with first-week streaming totals, powered by its lyric video released August 25 and its official clip which premiered Sunday (August 27) during the MTV Video Music Awards, as well as a full first week of airplay, "Look" should vault to No. 1 on the Hot 100. If "Look" leaps to the top, it would prevent, or delay, further history from being made by the current leader, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's "Despacito", featuring Justin Bieber, which this week (on the September 9-dated Hot 100) logs its record-tying 16th week at No. 1. It matches Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day", which reigned for a record-establishing 16 weeks in 1995-96. Thus, if "Look" dethrones "Despacito", the latter would, at least as of next week, remain tied for the longest command in the Hot 100's 59-year archives.

Despacito Mijos, Despacito (78,225)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
I guess that maybe, just maybe, if some of us were a little bit more appreciative of other artists’ accomplishments, whether we're fans or not, we could get the same treatment for Mariah when she has something out. I remember when Mariah released Heartbreaker and it was time to find out if it had reached #1 or just kept climbing, but I saw that #1, I went crazy with joy, those were the days. I guess probably there were some older people back then, fans of other artists of course, annihilating her and hating on her accomplishment, but people had spoken, and she was #1. No matter how much they hated it, attributed to single discounts, chart manipulations, she was #1, and that was that. I was happy and many were bleeding on the other side, I just didn't know. Yes, most music is crap nowadays, but the charts have their rules, rules that allow Mariah to chart every year with her Christmas song setting an unprecedented record, its rules allowed her to give a huge push to her singles through multiple versions of it. I don't think that the charts or the world is against Mariah, we always knew the Divine Trinity wasn't going to be forever. Elvis, The Beatles, Madonna, Michael Jackson, all of them shone bright when it was their time, Mariah's light just dimmed down, but she's still shining. One day she'll be like the rest, but that's life I guess. After "I Didn't", "Crapfiny", "Infamous", I long more for a great song than an effing #1 to be honest. Breaking her OSD and most #1's records won't wash away her accomplishments or give Fonsi and Daddy Yankee a Butterfly, a Daydream or TEOM, but they got there just like Mariah, with a song they wrote, even the part that Justin Bieber sings. And yes, the song it's in Spanish, big fat effing deal. The weird thing is that because of the English speaking Americans Despacito is where it is right now, #1 for 16 weeks, how fair is that? I guess music is the universal language. If you like it and feel it, you might not even care what's being sung, of course if you doing Despacito.

Despacito is not where it is because of Justin Beiber, the video without Justin is the one that also broke the record with most streaming. It's simple, the general public just love the track, that's all. It's true that artists release different versions of their songs to give it a push, Mariah's done it countless times, the remixes for "#Beautiful", "You're Mine(Eternal)" with Trey Songz just to name a few. The "Justin-less" video for Despacito has reached nearly 4 billion views, it is completely in Spanish. Of course Justin's name has given it a push, there's not denying in that, but the work was already done when he asked to be on the song, I repeat, he heard her song and asked to be on the song. Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee wrote and produced the song, that's also an accomplishment. Despacito is what it is, one of those songs that got people listening and streaming, it doesn't have to do with depth, it's a summer song. I don't see the need in trashing Despacito. Some here are doing exactly what Elvis' fans were doing when Mariah broke his record. Some said: "Touch Her Body", really? But it was what it was, Touch My Body wasn't deep in anything, it was just like Despacito, a catchy fun song to listen to, and yet it hit #1. People just seem to like Despacito better, some should just get over it. It's an effing song, we don't have to bleed as if we got cut open.

They might be sharing the record with Mariah and Boyz II Men, but they didn't set it. It's an accomplishment I feel proud of as a Latino, but tying a record is not the same as breaking it. They might still break it, but Taylor is definitely coming strong, so I doubt it they'll break it. If they do though, it's still a huge accomplishment for Mariah and Boyz II Men to have kept that record for nearly 25 years.
