Do away with a label, no one needs them anymore, especially an artist like Mariah. That way it can be her vision, her plan, her single choices etc. without any interference to her creativeness. Can you imagine an album like Daydream or Butterfly with a video for every song? I think by the time Mariah releases her new album, she should have everything ready, from remixes and videos to a promotional plan in place. MC30 (104,820) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter To be honest a surprise album by Mariah would not have had as much traction as Beyoncé's and that's not because I think Beyoncé is better. Mariah is a better artist through and through but Beyoncé knows how to market herself. Her whole album was a visual album with all high quality aesthetic videos and that's something I don't think Mariah would have pulled off. How many videos did we even get from MIAM? The only time Mariah could have gotten traction from a surprise album drop was if she released it right after TEOM. Not only was MIAM poorly planned it had almost no publicity. After Beyonce dropped her album and was selling like hot pancakes, the rumor was about Mariah being mad because that's what she was planning to do. Obviously, the out of the blue release idea didn't make sense anymore. Mariah wasn't specific, but she stated she would basically keep her mouth shut from now on. Stacey is correct using the word "mess" but it should refer to the entire project. Everything about it was created or handled in a fashion unbecoming a supposed international superstar. That being said, there are some great melodies and vocals on MIAM. Personally, I believe Triumphant Pulse Remix, Almost Home, The Art of Letting Go and You Don't Know To Do are pretty special. I encourage Mariah to make her next record an upbeat dance record. Don't nobody need another Cautionary tale that will disappear in a fraction of the time it takes to create. To avoid situations like that, she doesn't reveal much about her projects anymore. IDJ has always been supportive of Mariah, but sadly she was too much in control and everything was messy. MC wanted a Beyonce type of digital release while IDJ wanted a traditional release with pre-orders. IDJ executives were unhappy with the performance of Memoirs and MC's delayed completion of MIAM. They were just ready to be done with MC knowing that MIAM would fulfill her contractual obligations to the label. The executives now are probably concerned that MC30 doesn't have fan interest for any IDJ MC30 releases. I am surprised that It's A Wrap got a vinyl release last year. MC probably financed the release herself. She only had one hit album during her time with IDJ. Charmbraclet, E=MC2, and MIAM were all commercial disappointments. RCA will probably not allow Yours ft. Justin Timberlake to be released. Angels Advocate and Jumpsmokers Remix albums have been leaked online. MIAM leftover tracks are probably nonexistent. The question in 2024 is what label is going to sign MC to release MC16. (Friday 5 January 2024; 17:15)

I guess I was trying to find 90's Mariah in her voice and music, but even though I've enjoyed a few tracks here and there from her later albums, I haven't been able to quite connect with her like that. When I read comments from her fans, it reminds me how devoted and ready to fight for her we were back then, as if Mariah had put spell on us. Those were the days. It was so obvious that Ariana stopped talking about Mariah altogether when previously she had praised her. When most people heard "Vision of Love" on the radio, they thought it was Whitney Houston. When I first heard "I don't Wanna Cry", I could've sworn it was Whitney too. But as I said, Mariah was not well, it was evident. It was refreshing to see Mariah and Ariana harmonizing on "O Santa". I can't remember much from the era now that it's been years but I do remember the iconic "on the bathroom floor moment" when the different mix was released. As for the Ariana situation I don't remember exactly what she said but I don't think she was ever really rude and in fact I understand her frustration. Like Mariah we know has insecurities (even though she's a legend) and she has been more than once written off or called a has been or whatever even though she continues to stay very relevant so I understand that she would be annoyed at Ariana being called the "new Mariah" or "young Mariah". It's like she's being replaced and Ariana at that time was blatantly copying Mariah from the way Mariah sang, her whistles, even at one point her album was gonna be called "Daydreaming". It was insane. I know her management probably got her to do it but I could understand why Mariah would be irritated by it. It was always posed to her as a replacement not as someone who's inspired by her. She's been really graceful about other artists who were inspired by her like Beyoncé and Rihanna because they weren't outright copying her. Ariana since then has found her own style and Mariah welcomed her in her life. (Thursday 4 January 2024; 16:38)

It was sad to watch. From throwing a bizarre tantrum because they had released a mix of "The Art of Letting Go" she didn't like to the way she managed the Ariana Grande situation. I was like, this girl could be your daughter, your influence is all over her music, be graceful and tone it the f down. Thank God, they're in a good place now.
