Right now I think cutting people off is considered a flex. People brag about it. I understand doing it as a means to protect yourself. But it definitely shouldn't be done as a punishment or retaliation. Sometimes you must be the bigger person more than once because the other person is severely lacking. I am not criticizing MC for her handling of her abusive siblings. Hell, I would have cut Alison off too. But since I know MC through dozens of interviews, personal songs and a print memoir, I know she's a lot like me. We are both sensitive. And nothing knocks down the wall guarding a sensitive person more violently than regret. Hearing someone say they should reconnect with Morgan because they're "the only two left" hit me hard, as I have an abusive sibling (emotionally and physically). No, Mariah needn't mend anything with Morgan - that would mean letting an abuser back into her life, and that would be ridiculous. That's not how it works, that's not how someone in Mariah's situation stays healthy. Plus, I think we all know Morgan has maintained his abusive/accusatory/litigious/in-my-opinion-somewhat-insane personality - there is no repentance here, quite the opposite. She might sing a few words live here and there, but the lipping is at an all-time high. When you compare footage from different shows, the only thing that changes are her spoken or talk-sung parts; everything else seems to be pre-recorded. Additionally, she frequently appears a dazed, whatever medication she's on seems to be affecting her movement, speech, and even the parts she sings live. I'm not criticizing her; she needs to take her meds to manage her bipolar disorder, but it's evident that she's on some strong stuff. But at the same time that fans are saying she seems to have no idea walking around the stage and trouble with the cues she's also not had trouble singing the lyrics on time? I might be wrong, but haven't seen her looking like she's lip syncing. So my point is, I for one think she's singing a lot more love than people on this board make out and if she can do that, things can't be that bad. She has managed to maintain a likable image ever since she entered the music scene by being herself. She hasn't shied away from showing us her human side, making her relatable. I consider myself part of Mariah's core fanbase, but I'm realistic. If Mariah were more dynamic on stage and did more than just stand there and lip-sync, people wouldn't mind as much whether she's singing live. It was acceptable when she could still carry a tune, but now she should compensate for her vocal limitations by putting more effort into her performances and updating her tired productions. Billboard just released their new album list for August-October. There is not one Christmas album listed for October. At least there would be somebody major on the list for October. Maybe no one wants to release a Christmas album this year because so many albums flopped from Dua Lipa to Normani to Camila Cabello. About five years later, when I was being a lil a*hole, my mom would punish me by playing "Did I Do That" repeatedly until I apologize. By the time JD started inserting himself on every track, and knowing I wouldn't have survived him on repeat, I became a lovely child. She should go all out with something special, especially since "All I Want for Christmas Is You" seems to have lost some of its initial momentum while other holiday songs have gained popularity. She shouldn't rest on her laurels, particularly during the season that brings her the most redvenue. I don't know about you, but I feel a bit neglected. What's the point of keeping her core fanbase in limbo? It doesn't make sense to me. She could have released a 6-track EP without worrying about high sales. Even though Caution was critically acclaimed, she mentioned that her voice wasn't in good shape during its recording. If it wasn't in good shape then, what about now? I would be fine with MC16 being her final album. She shouldn't count on it being a huge success in terms of sales though, Caution was released six years ago and has sold around 200k copies. Now it's a case of if I look good nothing else matters. As I've said in previous posts she changed personality from 2001 and it's progressively got worse. Now I don't think even Mariah knows who she is. She needs to strip it all back get to know herself again, drop the diva act and concentrate on being an artist with passion again. And if she can't do that then step down and stop taking peoples money. Celine this weekend has proven she is a true artist, her craft is so important to her and she works at it to ensure it never falters. I don't listen to Think Twice and think where is that woman now I miss her. But I do when I listen to say Can't Let Go and that is sad. I never ever thought I would be saying these things ever. Celine (106,989) by Jamie from UK Having watched her performance again, it is one polished and well executed performance. One thing about Celine is that she has always stayed consistent and true to herself. The Celine of the 1990's is the same Celine now. She is truly respected as an artist and still has her original fan base. I often have trouble relating to Mariah now as it's like she's a completely different person from the 1990's. That's not to say I don't like both but it's why I think she has lost a lot of her fan base and why she's not as respected as much. Celine knows her craft and what her fans want, and isn't at a point in her career where she's having to think of new styles to get peoples attention again as she already has the respect. Obviously Mariah is a different artist with a different personality but I think she could have learnt a lot from how Celine has controlled her career and her reputation. Remaster who? (106,667) by Edward from USA Ever since digital audio remastering became common, the usual approach has been to simply crank up the volume. In some cases, this remastering process can strip away the original feel that some albums once had. If remastering cleans and improves the audio quality, such as in recordings where static noise is prevalent, I'm all for it. However, if it merely increases the volume, I don't see the point.
