The only good thing about Conturella's reign of terror was the lesbian vibes she brought to the House of Carey. Conturella was so empowered, it was like she was going to hump on Mariah at anytime. It was hot.

According to "Talk of the Charts" midweek prediction, Brenda will be the first #1 of 2024. They tend to be pretty accurate. Sadly, the streak seems to be over.

So, weren't there some whispers about Tanaka having charges against him for some sort of scam he was trying to pull off, using Mariah's name? Whatever happened to all of that? Was that untrue? Did I miss something? Maybe this has something to do with that mess.

She didn't hide it, but she never acknowledged it either. He was clearly into her and she probably loved having a good/sane man by her side for a change. A man like Tanaka would eventually want something deeper than playing house but Mariah wasn't into him like. He was always like a walking aide for her, at least that's the way we saw him all the time. He says they parted ways amicably which implies there wasn't a huge fight or any shady situation going on. I wish him well.

While it's true Mariah never made any statements about their relation I don't think she hid it. She had posted cute couple photos of themselves together a lot on social media including Valentine's Day and other romantic stuff. So she never hid it. It could be that after 7 years together the relationship ran its course and they decided to split due to wanting different things in life.

I don't think it has anything to do with kids. Probably he proposed to Mariah and she said no. We all deep down knew that relationship wasn't going anywhere. During their 8-year relationship, Mariah never acknowledged having a relationship with him, not even once. If I were him, I would've exited left many years ago. After three year, if there's not any kind of commitment, one should keep it moving. I think that's what he did.

Merry Christmas has gone from 5x Platinum to 9x Platinum in just four years. It has sold about 300K this Christmas season so far. Caution is not even close to reach gold status and Mariah Carey is stuck at 9x Platinum since the late 90's. I would say Merry Christmas is loved by most.

Clarity (104,636)
by Matty from Vancouver Canada

Do you think Merry Christmas is Mariah's most globally adored album, because of its clarity? I personally like MCII more than MCI, however I have been listening to MCI recently on vinyl, and I feel like the production on MCI allows Mariah's voice to be clear and admired and takes a beat to breath.
What other Mariah albums are as vocally forward as Merry Christmas? I would suggest Emotions, Emancipation, Caution. Those are the most vocally clear albums in my opinion. Thoughts?

AIWFCIY back at #1 (104,569)
by enwar00 from usa

I just read on Talk of the Charts that AIWFCIY is predicted to be back at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 next week, overtaking Brenda Lee again. Suddenly things seem a little brighter again. Mimi back at #1 where she belongs. It's still a prediction as Billboard doesn't release the official top 10 until Monday. But hopefully it will be, and for the next 3 weeks.

Another close call (104,521)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
Brenda is back at number one, but not for such a huge margin: these are the numbers.
RATCT: 41.3 million streams (up 18%), 20.5 million radio airplay (down 1%) and 6,000 downloads (up 109%)
AIWFCIY: 38.5 million streamsn(up 19%), 24.1 million radio and airplay (up 12%) and 5,000 downloads/sales (up 29%)
While RATCT has 2.9 million streams more than AIFCIY, the latter has 3.6 millions radio airplay more than RATCT. Brenda airplay is already decreasing while Mariah's keep going up. AIWFCIY will definitely be number one by Christmas day. Brenda's numbers will deflate faster after Christmas.

I too was thinking why is she not giving JHud the time of the day because Jenny was doing the most and Mariah just treated her like background noise while only looking at Ariana. It was a missed opportunity to he really iconic. But I really wonder why Mariah has become so rigid. In a new instagram post of her backstage singing AIW with her team and walking around everyone's jumping and having fun and she is just so stiff. I hope it's not a health issue then I'll feel bad for saying it but it's been really prominent.

Not sure if anyone discussed this yet (didn't get to catch up) but when I heard she brought out Ariana (who's been in hiding for years) I was super excited. Side note I think Mariah and Ariana should collaborate on a non Christmas song along the lines of "Touch my body", their voices complement each other. Ok back to the topic, why was Mariah so stiff? Like Ariana was skipping around dancing and enjoying, JHud was moving around but Mariah just looked like she was pinned to one location and wouldn't move. I see this a lot in her appearances. This was an upbeat song and you'd think they'd probably even try to recreate the video choreo, or if there wasn't enough time just walk around. But she was locked in position and looked like she was reading off instructions on a monitor or something. Mariah girl you've been performing to sold out shows for a while now you'd think she'd have more control over her stage presence.
