YAR CD single (105,707)
by T from USA
| |
|
|
The single should have had three songs. The Max Martin pop mix that we got. A reimagined David Morales extended dance mix with even bigger vocals from both girls. And a reimagined So So Def urban remix with whisper vocals. This should've been planned for months before the single release, for the nostalgia.

But I haven't said I want or expect another Music Box. And I think any of us knows that's not gonna happen. My point is that not everyone will like what she puts out and that's fine. Some people don't like Music Box but that's ok too. We're not all robots that have to agree with everything.

I get what you're saying Jamie. I'm not talking about the usual difference of opinions. I'm passionate about MC and I always defend her but I know it's coming from a positive place. Passionately tearing her to shreds is quite different. MC and her voice have evolved while some fans are stuck in the past waiting for another Music Box that will never happen. Before you call me delusional for staying positive and supportive, delusional would be not acknowledging that her voice will never be the same as it was in her prime. People change, and we must either accept it or move on, there's no need to diagnose her, then whine and moan every time new music comes out, it's unhealthy for everyone involved. I'm very direct, perhaps too direct for some. That's my humble opinion and I stand by it.

Because everyone is individual and has their own opinions. Not one fan is the same. I personally love the remix and stated I thought her vocals were great in it. But I'm open to the thought that others might not like it and that's ok. It's that the point of a forum for everyone to bring their thoughts to the table and create a debate. I'm all for positivity but I'm also open to criticism too otherwise how do people grow. No one truly knows what's going on with Mariah or her voice at times but as fans who have invested so much time in our artist it's only normal to have an opinion one way or the other. It doesn't mean people love her any less. If people didn't comment one way or the other then I would be worried as to me that would show that any passion they have for Mariah has gone. I'm so excited for a new Mariah album if every track is amazing then fantastic but I don't think we should be getting into a culture where we can't say exactly how we feel about something because as I said not everyone likes the same things and that is ok.

It's hard for some people to remember that MC is a human being. It's even harder for them to show her the respect she deserves. I sound like a broken record but I'll say it again: if she's obviously not bringing joy to some of y'all, it is time to move on instead of bringing people down with your negativity and ungrateful attitude. Misery does love company. It's downright disgusting and pathetic. With fans like these who needs enemies. Please go complain somewhere else. Y'all do act like musical geniuses on here but probably don't have one creative bone in your body. And don't give me that BS that it's tough love, if this is love, nobody wants it. I hear JLo and Taylor Swift have new or recycled music that may placate you. Let me go back to enjoying Yes, And?

This is suppose to be a Mariah fan board, all I've seen is negative uncalled for opinions on Mariah and her voice, you guys think she's a robot? I recently saw a video of twitter spaces, some lamb had the balls to tell Mariah that every time she performs the lambs wonder if she will hit a g7 or how high she will go. Meanwhile this lamb works at Burger King but thinks he knows everything about her voice. I noticed this was her last time on twitter spaces. You guys are ruining this for her, y'all don't know anything about her voice or what's going on, have some respect for the woman who supposedly you say saved your life with her music. I really hope she doesn't release anything new. Why would she? Just for you guys to disect and judge her voice condition. I used to love this board, before all the lambs became vocal teachers.

General public or bad decisions (105,642)
by Libra Lamb from USA
| |
|
|
If there's one thing we know about MC it's that she's gonna do what she wants creatively and not what others want. It was just a matter of time before her music style or genre would evolve from mostly Pop to something all her own. She seamlessly merged genres and it is magic. Walter or not, she was going to create music from within and collaborate with rappers she respects, a few Walter ballads sprinkled here or there, but mostly her creative expression. Butterfly was inevitable. That's what makes it so wonderful, her full creative freedom was announced when the butterfly emerged from being controlled in the cocoon for many years. She's never going back to the Mary Poppins persona some fans are waiting for. Meanwhile , let me clutch my pearls and gay gasp at a curse word or two while I enjoy the new Yes, And? remix. For the record, GTFO is my favorite song from Caution.

Ohhhh Robert I don't think I've ever disagreed with you on this board, but if MC kept working with Walter, TEOM would never have happened. After Daydream Mariah would have been cemented in the Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand genre. Just like Michael Bubble will forever be in the Frank Sinatra genre. Mariah was lyrically doing art, and vocally doing art during her time with W.A, but I think even though it was amazing, it was commissioned art, not the art for the artist who wanted to express themselves.

General public or bad decisions (105,619)
by Libra Lamb from USA

It's a very interesting theory Jamie. I would love to know what exactly happened but I just can't imagine my life without the Glitter soundtrack. Good or bad for her image, I am glad we got the music when we did. I remember the Hero/Never Too Far performance and I know that was meant to be because it brought our country some much needed comfort at the time. I'm one of those people that believe that everything happens for a reason. Glitter is, at least for me, a masterpiece and one of my favorite projects and I'll forever cherish it. I'm still patiently waiting for the movie to be re-released in digital format.

General public or bad decisions (105,612)
by Jamie from UK
| |
|

I'm sat here and a thought came into my head regarding Mariah and her career. For the majority of the 1990's Mariah could do no wrong, she was America's sweetheart and had countless number one songs and albums. People took her into their hearts and adored her. From 1997 she made what some call a drastic change in musical direction and lost some of her core fanbase as a result. However she continued to have number one songs and albums even through a difficult time with Sony and Tommy Mottola. Why was it then that during her most difficult time in her life in 2001 did people turn their backs on her? Surely someone who they had grown to love had spent so long adoring her and buying her music would want to support her during this difficult time. Glitter and Charmbracelet failed to sell anywhere near what she would normally sell. My point is, is it the general public who turn on an artist so quickly, is it the music industry and media that set current trends what is a hit and what the people want or is it bad decisions made by Mariah the artist. For me it's just difficult to understand how such a quick switch in popularity can happen with someone who was literally a force of nature at one point. Firstly I don't think the whole Glitter film helped her persona one bit, 9/11 didn't help but the film just wasn't good enough 9/11 or not. The album or soundtrack is great but in hindsight should it have been left on the shelf once the film tanked to help control the damage from the film and save her also having a music flop too which was unheard of at the time. Would her next album then have been more well received by the public. For me I like Charmbracelet but it feels almost like a complete different body of work to the rest of her catalogue (present and past included) the whole vibe is just different. Were bad decisions made by Mariah creatively should she have come back with an upbeat track ala Fantasy/Honey mode and had less rappers on the album, it would be interesting to see if the Glitter album hadn't been released and she had come back with a stronger album (maybe a combination of Glitter tracks and new ones and called it something else) how her popularity would have been at that time and now. Or had the public already turned their backs on her and changed their view of her as a person. Obviously we had Emancipation but that was very short lived, and since then with the exception of Touch My Body and Christmas she hasn't got anywhere near the popularity she should have had. Do you think the general public just doesn't warm to her anymore, is it Mariah's decisions of music creativity or the way her persona has come across post 2001, or do you think it's the music industry making wrong decisions for her career? We can't change what happens but sometimes it's interesting to put a different spin on how we think things could have gone or been. Would love to hear your views and where you think things went wrong or could have been different for her.

For the record, I was not speaking of you in my rant. I know you've never had anything negative to say about MC and I respect that. Also, when I told you to shut up a few years back, I didn't mean that for you either, I meant that for "he who shall not be named", you know who, but I accidentally replied to your post and I just never cleared the air so I'm sorry about that. Also, I'm glad you found the clean version of Yes, And. I don't have children, so in my everyday life I do indulge in curse words and don't think much about it, but I understand and respect your views on this.

I couldn't agree more Matty. We have no right to censor the artist. Some here won't like anything MC puts out regardless. I personally enjoy the music and will support all of MC's efforts. Basically, if Mariah likes it, then I like it. Consider the records a gift. One day MC will no longer be here and they've sat there complaining and waiting for projects that will never come. Instead, they could be more supportive and be grateful, it shouldn't be hard for her biggest fans. If they can't do that it's ok but, with all due respect, maybe it's time to move on.

Yes, And? lyrics (105,529)
by Matty from Vancouver Canada
| |
|
|
I get some people's objection to the profanities in the song, although this is music for adults, and radio plays clean versions. Profanities are just words, just like every other word. It's art and words are an expression of art. Anyways . What was odd to me is that some don't like the message of this song. it's extremely empowering. "Wear this stuff on your chest, be your own best friend. I'm done with hypocrisy" etc. it's extremely empowering and self assured. Aside for your view on curse words, why isn't this songs lyrics a flex of self love and empowerment?

Madonna's Confessions on a Dance Floor is one of my favorite albums, it is just perfect. I wish MC would actually do something like that but with her twist on it, her lyrics alone would be superior. I want a continuous all dance album. 12 tracks.

I had to think of Madonna too. Lol. House and a little En Vogue vibe. Yes, who would have thought? I think the teens will like the remix. I don't feel this song. Maybe mostly because I don't like the music from Ariana in general. I also don't need the f. in lyrics. Luckily I have the MB 30 where the lyrics are wonderful. Plus the remix of "Working hard" which is a hundred times better than this. Just my humble opinion.

Since hearing it just twice it's gotten stuck in my head already. I would say job well done for that reason alone. Though I genuinely like it, I can see why it's not for everyone. Keep 'em coming. We've been waiting for new music for so long and I'm just grateful that we get this remix. It should create buzz for MC's next album and lead single if she strikes while the iron is hot. You're absolutely right about one thing. I don't know you and you don't know me. I don't want that either or you'd already know my name and face. I'm a very private person in my life and choose my friends carefully. I prefer to be called nameless and faceless than to get to know you. And there won't be a next time since I'll be scrolling right past your posts, Bill's who likes to put words in my mouth and Edward's and we all know why. At least stand by your words you post and not gaslight people. I'm just repeating what you guys post. You're welcomed. Muah.

Incapable? Wow, judge much? There you go again making judgements about people you don't know. Interestingly enough, you don't see me judging you, calling you incapable of whatever. Why? All I see is a username and avatar. It would be silly of me to claim I know someone's intentions when I've never met those people in person. You don't know me, my personal experiences with this. So yes, time to move on and maybe judge a bit less next time.

I think Mariah should keep things secretive for now. I don't want to know who she's working with because I want no expectations whatsoever. I just hope the next album knocks my socks off.
As far as the "woke" topic, I will just have to let it go. There's no reasoning with people who are incapable of putting themselves in others' shoes or lack empathy altogether. Besides, you can't tell them nothing if they already know everything.

I don't know where you got that I'm all for speaking to small children about sex, I've never given any comment or indication of that. I also think the Trans movement is taking things too far with wanting everyone to only say things their way. I just think that, like you, they just want to live their lives and be respected as human beings and be members of the community. Furthermore, I don't need anyone, not even you, to tell me to wake up. I'm very socially conscious. Have a nice day though and God bless you.

"Just let people live their own lives and mind your own business."
Everyone's on board with that, but the "T+" that got annexed on and now tars the "LGB" with the same brush, won't do that. Let's campaign to castrate children instead, and speak to 5 year olds about sex. It's wrong. Wake up to yourself.

So it's okay to go around spreading hate? I see you are like minded too. It's one extreme versus another. Why can't we just meet in the middle? I'm not saying I agree with the woke movement but there's something to be said about basic human decency lacking. Just let people live their own lives and mind your own business, not you Stacey, but in general. I don't expect everyone here to agree or even understand. One might have to be persecuted for just being different and I don't know anyone here or their background. I will say it's usually Republicans that do the same stuff in hiding that they complain about. Then they get caught and it's all over the news. Go on, deny it. I'll wait.

You know TJ from Norway, sometimes finding like minded people doesn't mean you're right. Sometimes it just means there's like minded people. For starters, there was nothing "extreme" in RJ's post, RJ was simply calling it like it is. Wanna talk about how there's people out here that believe Trump won the last election and is the current President here. Now that's extreme. Also there was no mention of Tik Tok and judging from his previous rants, I know for a fact Edward doesn't know much or the meaning of the term woke. You probably don't either. Human decency is what we're actually needing more of.

I hope he gets the help that he needs. This is very unfortunate.

Will we see a new album this year? (104,987)

Well at least we know she's going to do the best with what she's got. I saw her say that on a video one time. Here's hoping this year she gives us at least one of the new projects she's mentioned in the recent years. I'm not satisfied with just the cookies. We need new music ASAP.

Will we see a new album this year? (104,984)

What are your thoughts on if Mariah is actually going to drop an album this year? I read a lot of mixed reactions where some people are convinced she is definitely dropping something while others feel like we won't see anything anytime soon. I know some people are hopeful for Mariah's version of "Someone's Ugly Daughter" or the jazz album she has been mentioning. To be honest I don't care much for either of the above, although if she does release it I'll be happy for the lambs that already wanted it. But personally I would love new more mainstream music from Mariah. She's also been looking absolutely stunning and we know Mariah feels most confident with public appearances and performances when she is feeling her best. So I hope we hear something soon. I would also be interested in The Butterfly Lounge documentary but at this point I think she dropped it. I would love for her to document her next album drop where we see her as a songwriter and what goes behind the scenes of recording an album, the videos etc and release it over on streaming along with the album release.

I do think your ideas are magnificent and your desire to want to see her back on top just reminds us know that you're coming from a place of love. I hope she takes your ideas and I also wish her lots of success.

Maybe I am too much to suggest DeVon Frranklin for MC to date, but you have to admit there have been too many hiccups launching her albums since E=MC2. I just scratched my head everytime the wrong single was chosen or an album promotional plan was poorly executed. I want her back on top for MC16. I know deep down in my heart that MC is going to do MC, but I can't help suggest my plan for getting her back on top of the charts.

Or, imagine this, she should go back to dating when she's good and ready to and not when y'all think she should. Also, she should date the kind of person she wants to because no one here knows her well enough to say who she should and shouldn't date. Some of you have a lot of nerve to come here and dictate what she should and should not do. She's a human being, not your Barbie doll. She should also do the kind of music she wants to do, she's the artist after all, and feature rappers on every track of her new album if that's what her heart desires. I know my opinions are unpopular on this board so if someone doesn't like them they can scroll right past them like I do some of y'all.

No dating for now. She doesn't need no one at this time. She needs to focus on a new album and to get back on the charts.
