About Musti from UK:

Re: Golden Globe nomination (79,799) (79,807) by Musti from UK
That's true. I do like The Star but it's probably the weakest song she's done for a movie. Maybe someone finally thought it's time to reward a woman who's been snubbed at the Grammys with every major album release? Still, I did not see this coming and I would be floored if she actually wins.

Re: Christina's shade of Mariah's voice: karma (79,484) (79,486) by Musti from UK
I don't remember Christina ever shading Mariah's voice. Is it on YouTube? I didn't think the performance was that bad. I Will Always Love You was off but she did well on the other songs. Anyway, I tried to find a video where Christina shaded M's voice and I found this. I'd already seen most of the clips, except for the Adam Levine part. I love the way the video ends.

Article: Mariah reveals the hardest thing about being Mariah (79,482) by Musti from UK
I really enjoyed this interview. Her jokes were funny and on-point, relevant and concise answers, no endless ramblings. I think she's back lambies she sounds so at ease. It's been such a crazy year worrying about what's going on with her. Whatever it was, I think she's ready to move on.

Still trying to figure out what the point of this article was.

Re: I Am Free (Alternative Mix) (79,436) (79,437) by Musti from UK
This just came up as a notification on my phone. I love it. Those runs are just insane without the background vocals. She really understands how to build a climax and how to end it. This is one of the best songs she has ever written in my opinion.

Re: Disgusted (79,369) (79,394) by Musti from UK
To be 100% honest, I feel like all this talk about her weight loss surgery is just a way of shifting the focus from other work she's done on her face. I'm no expert but she looks different. She looks great though. I don't mind a bit of work here and there. Celebrities experience different pressures than we do. The same rules don't apply. I'm ok with it so long as she doesn't go overboard.

Re: Disgusted (79,341) (79,362) by Musti from UK
What's so wrong with surgery? She's one of the most recognisable public figures in the world surviving in an industry that is centred around youth. It's not like she pulled a Joan Rivers. Plus, she looks hot.

Stella honey, you are not wanted. Bow out gracefully. Take your cheap family and move back to Cheapsville where you've always belonged.

Re: Lil Snowman (79,170) (79,180) by Musti from UK
Am I the only one here who thinks You Got Me should've been the single instead of The One or Boy? That song never gets any love. I think it's one of her catchiest songs. I never the saw the hit potential in The One. I love it but I was glad it wasn't picked as a single.

Re: Lil Snowman (79,152) (79,158) by Musti from UK
Have you heard Kelly Clarkson's version? Definitely in the same vein musically. I love Lil Snowman so much more though.

Re: Lil Snowman (79,141) (79,157) by Musti from UK
Definitely has that vibe. It also reminds me of Christmas (Baby Please Come Home). Not the kind of song you would expect her to record. I'm so happy that she's making memorable music again. This is the most original thing she's done since the songs she did for Tennessee.

Lil Snowman (79,138) by Musti from UK
I can't stop listening to this song. It's amazing. It has all the hallmarks of a Christmas classic. She should promote this song, or at least add it to her Christmas shows. Christmas genius.

Article: Mariah Carey has fans concerned with bizarre live stream (78,952) by Musti from UK
I'm sorry but this article is a bit too much. Yes I've been very unhappy with the way she has been acting for the past few years but this video was far from bizarre. She actually looked content with where she is in her life. She even skipped the chaise lounge entirely. She lays down, she gets criticised. She moves around, she gets criticised. Let the [censored] go people. Whatever she has been going through, she is clearly trying to move on. If you are too stupid to understand that, perhaps listen to the new song and try to hear it in the way she's delivering the song. Seriously people, she might have lost her way but we can't keep trashing her everytime she tries to come back into out hears. Let it go.

Re: The Star (78,904) (78,912) by Musti from UK
I don't think this song has commercial potential to be honest. Maybe if the movie is a huge success. But then again the Oz movie was huge yet most people didn't know Almost Home existed. Having said that, I do agree that this song has an easily distinguishable melody. Most of all, there are no high chest belts. I'm proud of her for singing in a range she's comfortable with. Her voice is so beautiful no matter which octave she is in.

Re: Betcha gon know / MOAIA (78,866) (78,867) by Musti from UK
I have to agree. I never seem to think of MOAIA as an amazing album, yet songs like Inseparable and Betcha Gon Know are favourites that I keep going back to frequently. Standing O is one of those songs that I can and will start singing randomly no matter where I am. Candy Bling will forever be in my top 5. I love it so much that I can't even listen to it. It strikes a chord. I think the problem with MOAIA (for me) was the many ways in which it was trying to be Butterfly. Nothing can touch Butterfly, not even Mariah. But it's still an effing amazing album.

One Sweet Day (78,253) by Musti from UK
I am truly sad that a mediocre song like Despacito has matched OSD. OSD is by no means Mariah's best song but I think it deserved to hold its position unmatched. I will probably be devastated if it goes on for more than 16 weeks lol. But the truth is, Despacito will never ever match the grandeur of OSD. This marks the end of an era.

Re: Unforgettable (78,248) (78,252) by Musti from UK
I kinda agree with you, there's a lot of echoing going on. Sometimes it's hard to make out her whistle notes. But overall I think it fits the mood of the song. I'm very proud of her for doing this. The song is entirely in a range that she's comfortable with. I love both versions and I've been streaming them all day every day since they've been released. It's a bit sad that neither version has cracked 500k views on YouTube yet despite being out for a week. I'm not too bothered though. This is a step in the right direction. I just wish Why You Mad sounded like this. I wonder if this was the super secret song she was working on. It'd be funny if the article from a few days ago is true and she's indeed been trying to reach out to Eminem. I'm not a fan but patching things up with him is probably one of the better positive stunts she can pull at this point in her career. And a collab with Eminem could never hurt.

Re: Despacito (77,283) (77,287) by Musti from UK
Billboard always likes to hype things up when a song reahes the 10 week mark but I doubt Despacito would reach OSD let alone break its record. I agree with you about Rihanna's later albums. Unapologetic and Anti are really good. I do like her even though she can never hold a candle to Mariah. And I also can't deny that her signing is improving. Her live performances have come a long way since the time she first "sang" (destroyed) Hero on stage. I know having more #1's than Mariah won't make her better in any sense. But Mariah holding the record is also a reminder of what the charts used to be about: good music and talent. I hope M never loses her records of 18 #1's and 16 weeks.

Despacito (77,248) by Musti from UK
I know I probably shouldn't say this but I'm glad this song is still #1. It stopped DJ Khaled/Rihanna's new song from reaching the top. Wild Thoughts is still in the top 5 and there's always a chance that it'll bounce back. Its airplay is still increasing. But hopefully that won't happen. I want Mariah to hold her crown for as long as possible, even though it's likely that Rihanna will take over eventually.

Re: Trey Lorenz explains why "CLG" never went #1 (77,208) (77,227) by Musti from UK
Thanks for that. I didn't realise it was pulled from the stores. I always assumed the reason it missed #1 was because Sony was too concerned about the critic's opinion of Mariah's whistles and removed the song's ultimate climax from the radio edit, making it less than what it is. That whistle is just iconic.

Re: Voice coach or operation (77,119) (77,126) by Musti from UK
I don't want her to lose the whistle register. There is no guarantee that surgery will fix the damage done to her voice but there is a real possibility she will lose the whistle register as a result. I think disciplined coaching would help her improve. Listening to her live performances in the last few years it sounds like she's either not sure where to take the note, or she realises last second that she won't be able to replicate the sound in her head, and things end up sounding off. Working with a professional coach could help her ease into the current condition of her voice.

Re: Why you mad at Mariah? (77,090) (77,097) by Musti from UK
I do hope she recovers. But given how things have been going, a change would be a a big surprise at this stage. I will continue to focus on the music. To be fair I haven't listened to I Don't, Infamous or Infinity since the time they were released. I did like I Don't at first, but eventually it felt like I paid for a gossip article set against music. Not to mention that awful video. Even the music has started to become contaminated. None of it feels genuine. Mariah the person might not inspire me anymore, but I want the music to retain its significance for a lifetime. How sad that we have reached a point where retirement feels like an appropriate option. I'd much rather see her retire than... God forbid. I will be here when new music is released, even though my expectations are at an all-time low.

Re: Why you mad at Mariah? (77,081) (77,089) by Musti from UK
I think you have missed the point. We are (in capitals) united, in the fact that we don't recognise her anymore, the fact that we cannot believe this is what has become of her career. I haven't posted in a few months, haven't really been checking the message board either. I agree with the everyone's frustrations wholeheartedly. I even agree with you; I get the defensive place you're coming from. But I do hope you soon realise the only thing left to defend is the years of flawless music she has given us. This is why I decided to let go. The mess that she has become had started to get in the way of my connection to the music. I will not let her do that to all those songs that have decorated every corner of my life. I'm sad to say that she is no longer as important to me as her music. Nowhere near. She has become an embarrassment to her own self, to her hard-earned legacy. This woman taking to the stage in those circus outfits with her overfilled hips is not Mariah. Mariah is gone and she is probably never coming back. I've made my peace with it. I'm glad we at least got MIAM. Despite its similarities to Butterfly, it's an amazing album, one that I can look up to as a legend's final masterpiece.

Re: Article: Meet Mariah Carey's maybe fake, definitely hot BF (74,193) (74,227) by Musti from UK
I want to believe what you're saying. But the truth is, most of these publications are merely platforms used by artists to benefit both the artist and the publication (even some of the sources we would consider "credible"). Meaning, you only hear what they want you to hear, for a price. I've stopped basing my understanding of M's life on these articles, rather only using them as background information. My personal opinion (which is not very hard to see) is that M is possibly going through something pretty serious. She possibly realises she has made some mistakes but she is not sure how to proceed, hence her half-assed and uninspired "safe" non-efforts. I say own up to your mistakes and be the strong grown woman that you have actually become. Go on record for accepting that your voice isn't in its VOL days and then get on that stage and sing the [censored] out of your latest single. Compliment other female singers (the ones deserving of your compliments anyway) and even collaborate with some of them. Get that Celine duet done. It's the only thing left that simply must (in capitals) happen in the history of contemporary music. Do it for authenticity, not for chart positions and money. You have lost so much credibility as an artist that it doesn't even matter how many copies your next single sells. You need to earn that respect once again. If it's not a Celine duet, then do whatever the [censored] it takes.

Re: Article: Meet Mariah Carey's maybe fake, definitely hot BF (74,190) (74,226) by Musti from UK
I'm hoping it's real to be honest. Or that he's making M feel stronger than she would have. Whatever the hell she is going through (I have my theories), she needs genuine support. Yes, M frequently speaks of self-help in her songs. But the very fact that she is constantly surrounded by her circus tells me that she feels lonely and that she is still in search of something that completes her. Stella simply isn't it. I don't know Stella personally so I can't judge what kind of a friend she is, but she is destroying M's career as a manager. If Tanaka somehow makes M feel empowered though all that (especially since NYE; I'm guessing M is still trying to get over that, considering how sensitive she is), I'm all up for this "affair". I'm just trying to find things to be optimistic about. I feel like I've been very critical of her lately and it doesn't feel right. I don't know M personally but I have cared deeply about her well-being and her success for such a long time that it feels like I'm betraying her, even though my critique entirely comes from a place of love and concern, like you and many others on this board. Please M (I know you or one of your people are reading this). I no longer care whether I ever see you at the top of Billboard 100/200. I only want to know that you're alright and that your career is handled in a way that is worthy of your legendary status. It will always hurt when people laugh everytime I mention your name, just like it did during Glitter. I want you to be respected. I want all of this to matter.
