Tonight I'll get a nightmare. If Mariah needs a yes-man ok, but couldn't she find that in someone more professional where nobody gets embarrassed?

I can't believe it too. Just watched the "Joy to the world" video. Mariah was so loveable. This is such a fun video, when she walks with the fake-fur sign, on the plane, with her background singers and Josephine. I love every shot in this clip. And when you watch the version in the church it's truly heartbreaking if you compare it to now. Mariah looks beautiful on the latest pics but why must she always play that sex symbol? She's not Marylin Monroe. And the people who are around her, I don't trust them for a second. Her manager can be praised endlessly, but this woman scares me. Lol. I just hope I'm wrong with it.

Christmas songs (69,084)
by MusicfanJ from Germany
| |
|
|
Which ones are your favorites? Every time I listen to "God rest ye merry gentleman", "Holy Night" and "One child" I really get emotional. The way she sings it touches my heart on a level which nobody will ever can musically. And I still keep on rockin' with AIWFCIY. "When Christmas comes" and all the songs produced with Mr. Shaiman are a truly gift to the fans. If you listen to it you can dream to that melody and just enjoy the Christmas season.

I will always love 90ies Mariah. It's a shame she made one record after another and got ignored by the Grammys. It still bothers me when I think of it.

I'm afraid too. I'm so fed up with the "headlines" that she makes today. Of course she could "retire" and just enjoy the money without doing anything in the musicbiz or should I say showbiz. However what I can't understand is why is she ok with that image. Doesn't she know it (what the media says and writes) or is it so simple that she doesn't care? Or she thinks this is the modern way to sell anything? All my hopes are for 2017. I try to say something positive but it's not easy. Please no realityshow, please real artistry. I'll watch "Anytime you need a friend" the video. That song is simply from heaven sung by our loved and imperfect angel.

Favorite AIWFCIY live performance (69,003)
by MusicfanJ from Germany
| |
|
|
Hello everybody. I just wanted to know if you have a favorite live version of Mariah's AIWFCIY. Mine is the one from Tokyo during the Daydream tour. The way she sings just amazing, the way she looks (sweet and beautiful) and the way she shakes and dances to it (so adorable). There was no reason not to love her. Daydream MC rocked the world.

You said 100% what I was thinking. The diamonds need to go. I mean on the beach. Please no. It's true every woman looks older with it. A causal style makes so much younger. I believe all the admiration of the jewelry comes because of her idol Marylin Monroe. But that was another time, the 50ies and 60ies are over. I always loved her speaking voice too. Don't know what to think of the champagne.

Musically Mariah will always be my number one. I just wish from my heart that she's happy. If Bryan Tanaka is the one who makes her happy great. I just hope the bad press will end soon. She doesn't need that. Our butterfly will come back stronger than ever, well one day.

Isn't it crazy? I had the same thought a few days ago. The picture of Mariah at the piano is gorgous. This is the Mariah I always looked up to. Imagine this 90ies MC could have looked into the future. She wouldn't be happy. The showbiz is making the best of the best confused and lonely.

Yes, where is the artist? The times are hard for a fan. I don't want a "docu-series". I want new quality music or if no music then please no more of this circus. Maybe Mariah is in love with this guy or just need someone. In some way I'm sorry for James Packer. I never saw a chemistry between them. Mr. Tanaka got the jackpot, I hope he can handle this and will act like a gentleman and not like a "thirsty" boy.

You're right. My first thought: Oh no. My second: This could be from the Honey part 2 video in 2016 if Crustella would be the director.

Somehow I think if Mr. Mottola see this he will laugh or be shocked. I never liked Tommy but compared to these people there's a big difference. Since Mariah has this management her image is getting more and more worse. I can't believe that she is happy with it. And why the bra pics nearly every week. What is she thinking? I'm worried and where is "Miss Mariah Carey". I want her back. All this stuff is not healthy and the media is already making fun of it to say it nicely. The song "Miss you most at Christmas time" gets a new meaning. Really sad.

Completely agree. I think it's great that Mariah isn't a typical business woman as you said. That's one thing I love about her. Those people aren't artists usually. Mariah should only focus on her music and be creative. She's so talented and is really blessed with that. She has nothing to prove anymore. I just can't understand why she won't hire a good management. Every little singer/actress has professionals for the business stuff. Like someone said here before a friend/lamb is never a good choice for this position. Can you image Mariah during Daydream tour and interviews at that time and then Stella around her. Lol. No way.

I although [also?] love the fact that Mariah's voice sounds so different on nearly every album. It's very interesting. Most singers sounds the same, I mean the voice stays the same. You're right Mandy, every lamb/fan can tell from what year and album a single or song is just because of the style Mariah sings it.

But even very smart people can make wrong decisions. I know a lot of smart people who make the worst decisions in life. Of course I don't know Stella either but there isn't one thing that I like about her. If Mariah only choose her to have fun or whatever I just don't understand it. I want to trust Mariah's instinct in business but nowadays it's hard for somebody who follows her career as a fan since 21 years.

The master plan of Crustella seems to be: 1. Make money as much as possible by working for Mariah 2. Get her daughter and relatives 15 minutes of fame by posting ridiculous pics with a superstar 3. Destroy the image of MC to get publicity like a Kadashian (maybe she thinks that's the only way to stay "relevant" and sell music) 4. Have a good time and fun 24/7 by hanging out with a grown-up woman who says she's eternally 12 As you can imagine I have no idea too what others see in that manager/woman.

I remember when I first heard Honey back in 97 I was so surprised. After hearing the whole album I thought how her voice changed. I had to play it 3 times and then I felt in love with this cd. After Daydream what really happened? Was is because of the stress in private and business? I wish Mariah would tell us but maybe it's too bad to be told.

I just came home and started the radio and Mariah was playing with the ultimate Christmas song. For me the season is officially here. I love MC and MCIIY so much, both are just Mariah at her best. So please no more drama for at least 4 weeks.

I understand what you mean. Of course nobody can always show the real self at every time if you are so famous like Mariah is. But I'm so tired of this "diva" and luxury thing. She's so much more than this. And a lot of people don't know, that makes me sad. Is it selfish that I miss the more "natural" Mariah? Not the girl in the field in jeans shorts but the serious artist who really cares for the fans and is the greatest without drama press. Maybe it's all because of the lost confidence. I saw her live on several concerts, she was always talking to the audience and made jokes. It seemed real and you could tell that she enjoyed her audience and the evening. I just wish that she enjoys what she's doing and that we see her again without the mask which is "protecting" her.

Mariah and "Kuschelrock" (68,614)
by MusicfanJ from Germany
| |
|
|
On a German TV-special Mariah is on the countdown for 30 years of Kuschelrock (a famous compilation with romantic songs). Again they said how Mariah dominated the 90ies with her voice and only Whitney came close to her. So true and I'm still in love with "When you believe". Perfect soundtrack song. The music of the 90ies especially the ballads were amazing. Sorry I have a "retro-phase" at the moment.

Mariah and Jazz (68,612)
by MusicfanJ from Germany
| |
|
|
I know we had a similar topic but I listened to Melody Gardot and thought Mariah should really make a pure jazz-album one day. Her MC2 has great jazz-influenced songs. It's although the royal-class of music and Mariah definitely has the ability to put her mark on it. Nothing against pop and rnb but jazz is another league. I'm pretty sure the youngsters won't buy, but the "old ones" would love and buy it. One last thing Gregory Porter and Mariah in duet, I keep dreaming.

Completley agree Licia. Only a non-talented person should take this way to get attention or whatever. I'm fine if we never get another top-ten hit. By the way Instagram is so overrated. A superstar/musician should please the fans and show the talent to others. Followers mean nothing. There are some great artists who sell music very well and aren't on Facebook and Co.

Re: Kanye is having a 2001 moment (68,564) (68,569)
by MusicfanJ from Germany

I always liked Kanye's music especially "The college drop-out" and a lot of other hit singles. Since he thought he's the greatest entertainer alive I begin to loose interest in him. As you said then came Kim Kardashian and from that moment on I couldn't take him serious anymore. This woman is one of the most unlikeable persons in the gossip news. For what is she famous in the USA? A TV-show? I just can't stand her, horrible person.

One thing is sure, nobody of us really know what happened in 2001 during Glitter. But I noticed that too. Something at that time changed her. I do understand what Andrew pointed out. Anyway Mariah was definitely not like that in public at the beginning and at her prime. I'm just happy that she's still here (superstardom must be the hell sometimes). I will never understand some things that happened in the past few months (the entertaining circus and mess with JP/Stella and so on). But her music as helped me so many times I will always be thankful for that. She has a very good soul no matter how bad the image is nowadays.
