MC's last four singles (40,405)
by Lainsky from Philippines
| |
|
|
I tried playing Triumphant, Almost Home, Bring It On Home and The Art Of Letting Go and I must say these are very good singles if not that great! I like Triumphant (Pulse Remix), the tune is very catchy, current and commercial I guess not to mention it is an inspirational song. IMO, the bad press release on this song that went on and on first than promotion, her AI stint could have affected this single so people's mind were fed by these bad publicities and looked at Triumphant that bad too. Influence of the media is so strong. Almost Home is a soundtrack but it is good for me as well as Bring It On Home, only it's too simple and nice album cut and single. The Art Of Letting Go is really a good start so I hope this single will grow on people and became popular in no time even before the follow up single drops and the album. At this stage of her career, the performance of her releases are understandable I guess. She has nothing to prove but I want to her to nail it again!

New Year's Eve performance (40,371)
by Lainsky from Philippines
| |
|
|
Well I guess she nailed it very well, especially with her performance with "The Art of Letting Go". What a good way to start the new year for her, so let's all hope this single will get notice the way it deserves and the new album will be really out soon as in soon like this month!

Last album (40,293)
by Lainsky from Philippines
| |
|
|
Based on the interview with Andy Cohen, I guess it is more of hypothetical statement meaning if this will be her last album, she wants it to be the best or something she must have done sort of thing, which I guess more of a description of this new album so fear not guys. I do not think MC can simply rest and stop making music. It's her life! Or at least the most.

MC still rocks! (40,140)
by Lainsky from Philippines
| |
|
|
After watching those performances of JTTW and AIWFCIY at the Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting, I can say that Mariah still rocks it. So to all who are saying that her voice and music career is over, I guess you have to wake up. For as long as the world celebrates Christmas, she will be around with these classic songs, whether live or on radio. Again, she has nothing to prove anymore for she has proven herself already thus, with or without a new album coming, she is still very much in the scene. Besides, only few artist can manage to stay that long like her in the entertainment industry and I can say that MC is still too young to retire and say "it's over". Without her, music industry will never be the same. Common guys, she's really good. Admit it.

New album (39,944)
by Lainsky from Philippines
| |
|
|
I am just wondering and I really don't get it why MC and IDJ just release an album like what she did in 2005 and instead kept releasing singles that are seems nowhere to go. If TAOLG is a new album and really intended for the die hard fans and lambs like me, then why not just release it so people's waiting time for this album will be over? Whether it will sell tremendously or will flop buy her or the music industry's standard, then so be it! The intention for the album release is for her fans. If it will capture the old fans and the new ones then good. If not, that's okay! She has nothing to prove anyway and nobody stays on top forever in any kind of industry. Just maintaining the image and identity and leaving a legacy and I believe MC has achieved that. I hope IDJ and MC will read this and stop teasing us, her fans and people with these singles or songs. I am not mad or anything, just clueless about what our girl wants to do with her music.

My review of The Art of Letting Go (39,778)
by Lainsky from Philippines
| |
|
|
The Art of Letting Go is truly Mariah Carey. For loyal fans like me, this is indeed a great track that showcases again her artistry lyrically, musically and vocally. What about commercial appeal? Well honestly, I am not quite sure if the general public will be really interested in this song, however it might be appealing to the fans of Adele and all those who can relate. I was imagining that this song will be in the types of Honey or Fantasy but I am glad it sounds like she went back to who she really was in the 90s in terms of slow song or ballad-inspirational kind of music like this. Melody is fresh, which can also call new fans. There’s also a possibility that Mariah did not consider that much of commercial success. I felt that it was written for personal reasons, for her lambs and for the sake of really good, classic-to-be type of single. In short, I like it but it needs to grow in me like Butterfly, which I only like at first but eventually became my all time favorite slow Mariah song. I hope the next single will be as great or even better than this but with mid to uptempo beat on it. I have a strong feeling that this album is really really good like her work of art at its best.

MOAIA article (39,637)
by Lainsky from Philippines
| |
|
|
I agree with almost everything the article did say about the album, specifically wrong lead track and follow up releases. Also, it reveals MC's personality like no one has seen before like it said and it is full of artistry and showcased her incredible talent as a songwriter and an artist. It will appeal commercially in my opinion only if IDJ and MC released "Standing O" or yes "HATEU" and then "Inseparable" and "More Than Just Friends" could have followed. I disagree though about the comment on "Candy Bling", because for me this is really a good song and single for release along with "Betcha Gon' Know" and "Angels Cry" then "IWTWLI" could have been released as the last track. And yes if you did not know this album, then you missed one of MC's great work. This is in the same quality, for me, with Glitter, which is unfairly murdered by the media.

Cover of TAOLG (39,602)
by Lainsky from Philippines
| |
|
|
She really sizzles in this new cover art and this is nicely done with taste no doubt about that. I just wish that MC should have worn a thin long white dress that will show her silhouette and start staying away from bathing suits and that would make this cover more beautiful in my opinion. Well, it's just a cover, what matters most is the single and the album.

MC's Letter (39,461)
by Lainsky from Philippines
| |
|
|
I am so happy as a fan to read this letter from her. It show's who she really is as a person and then as an artist. She's human too you know so to those thinking negatively about the album delay and got tired of waiting. There you have it. She has her reasons and for me they are more than acceptable. It's real because she's real. Thanks Mariah! We love you.

Signature songs / The Art Of Letting Go (39,412)
by Lainsky from Philippines
| |
|
|
For the 90s her signature song based on popularity and impact to people is Hero and for 00s I have to say it's Through The Rain (at least here in the Asia). TTR is more popular than We Belong Together and it has more impact to people. As for the new album, I have to agree with some of you that Mariah should drop the album in 2014 like January, but she can release a new single by November or December. Again as some of you said it, she can focus on promoting again her Christmas singles and albums. But let's wait what the management will do and whatever it is, let's keep our fingers crossed that we will all get what we want.

Glitter and Memoirs (39,259)
by Lainsky from Philippines
| |
|
|
Since last week I was playing a CD or two each day of our favorite diva and I realized that MC's artistry really came out in Glitter and Memoirs, but unfortunately these are her two lowest selling and harshly criticized by people. These two album are in my top 5 of with Butterfly and Music Box. The common with these two album is the story behind it as well as the continuity untill the end. Almost all the tracks in Glitter (my least favorite is the lead track though and Reflections) are gems lyrically and musically the same with Memoirs (Standing O, HATE U, Candy Bling, Inseparable are on the top of my lists). The Art Of Letting Go, I pray and hope that it has MC's artistry as a whole lyrically and musically but with very strong appeal to radio and masses and to her 90s fans and young generations that will lift up her credibility not only as a diva with a 5 (or 7?) octave voice. But will cement her in the music industry not only as a music legend but as a truly gifted song writer, singer and artist. I guess that what she desires.

Music Box (39,189)
by Lainsky from Philippines
| |

This is the first album I bought in a cassette tape (lol) and after six years I was able to buy all her albums in CD and videos (except First Home Vision, until now I have not found a copy of this). I used to play this album everyday that year until Daydream came and used to be one of my favorites. If MC would like to regain her 90s fans with her music to be released, she needs to go back to this format with a mixture of Daydream. These two album were among her best work. And now it's classic after 20 years.

For me, it's Butterfly and Breakdown, although the chart then had some changes that made these singles ineligible to chart. I have a frustrating one though and it's Shake It Off. Lol.

Edward, Will and Brandon (38,767)
by Lainsky from Philippines

Thanks for all your sympathy by posting a reply. To some degree I agree to what you all said, but at this point of our girl's career, I strongly believe that she's still capable of accomplishing such feat, unless Brandon is right that radio people and big people behind the music industry are viciously manipulating things to make it happen. But even so, if MC will get a right single or album at a right time that will cement her already proven capabilities as an artist, we, her fans, can make it happen and probably gain back those used to be fans and gain new ones like what TEOM has accomplished. Just staying positive and have faith.

Oh no. #Beautiful is slipping away. You think it will still bounce back into the top 10 at least? I am still hoping for the 19th #1 single and the next to break the Beatles' record.

Remixes and versions of #Beautiful (38,481)
by Lainsky from Philippines
| |
|
|
All I can say is they are not as bad as the press have described it, but in my opinion, MC have not change her style in doing remixes of her singles. For me most of them sounds good and will help the original to become more popular, but not all. Perhaps I am not really a huge fan of dance remixes. I'm still hoping that this album will be greater than E=MC2 if not TEOM.

#16#Beautiful (38,439)
by Lainsky from Philippines
| |
|
|
I have to admit that I am one of those die hard fans of Mimi who look and monitor her performance on Hot 100 and Billboard 200. I have not listened yet to any of the remixes out there, but I am still hoping that this single is not going on the opposite direction at this time but break into the top 10 at least, if not owning the elusive #1 and make it her 19th. I believe this is a crucial time for her career, so she must release singles and album that will cement fully her name as a legend.

Honey, Fantasy, and Heartbreaker (38,342)
by Lainsky from Philippines

My top three favorite lead singles. Honey is epic like most of you said. Fantasy, without ODB, is one of my top 5 MC songs. Heartbreaker, video and songs were just simply great, but Honey's video is even better.
