About Bill from the UK: I love Mariah more than you do.

London Daydream Tour Attendee.

Just to say... (78,468) by Bill from the UK
Migrate should have been a single. Sorry, it's just it has been a while since anyone said that. Carry on.

Re: VH1 performance was disrepectful (78,433) (78,436) by Bill from the UK
Mariah's performances do make me uneasy. Not because of the lip syncing or the inability to move more than a foot unaided, but because there is this underlying concern. There is something seriously wrong with her. Like a health issue that is being masked as best as it can be. No corset or high heel can have that affect. Where's the Mariah who was running up and down the stage at the Grammy's belting out "Fly Like A Bird"? Or even the Mariah from the home video concerts who moved with grace and elegance and confidence? She is either, as you say, so entrenched in her alcoholism that she can only be wheeled out to lip sync and stand on the "x", or she is heavily medicated. My concern is that this woman I have loved dearly since 1993 will wind up in a casket before her time just like Michael and Whitney. And just like those two, the evidence was all around us, and no one did anything.

Re: Article: Mariah is stiff as a board in Hip Hop Honors performance (78,420) (78,434) by Bill from the UK
I would give Mariah a pass for not moving if she actually sang and belted out Honey, but she lipped the entire thing. I get why artists like Britney and Madonna lip their performances, as their dance routines are intense. Mariah doesn't even have to walk, but still can't sing a single note. It's all just smoke and mirrors. Just retire already.

Re: Butterfly20 (78,387) (78,392) by Bill from the UK
Great post Mara, I couldn't put it any better. I've been listening to the album non stop since the anniversary. It's amazing. I am still discovering things buried in the background even after my 10,000th listen or whatever it is now lol. Even more so now those acapella leaks have highlighted other nuances I wasn't aware of. It really is a stunning album.

Babydoll (acapella) (78,369) by Bill from the UK
Beautiful acapella version of Babydoll. Those harmonies, wow. Happy 20th Butterfly.

The acapella version of OSD is one of my most favourite remixes. Great shout.

Re: Miss You Most at Christmas Time (78,316) (78,321) by Bill from the UK
Jade thank you, that note made my day. Unfortunately I won't be able to afford to go to her concert which is a real shame, but I really hope you all have a great time. Please take lots of pictures and videos as I'd love for you to share them.

Re: Miss You Most at Christmas Time (78,310) (78,313) by Bill from the UK
I know, it's a beautiful song and a great original composition. Guess it would kind of kill the mood though as it is very sad.

Re: Article: Taylor Swift leaps to no. 1 on Hot 100 (78,285) (78,289) by Bill from the UK
It would be absolutely hilarious if Taylor stayed at number 1 for 17 consecutive weeks, after all the fuss that was made about Despacito tying MC's record and everyone gunning for Taylor to end the song's streak.

Re: Unforgettable (78,239) (78,241) by Bill from the UK
I agree, the track has been a hit with everybody and it'd be a real shame if it wasn't given the push it deserves. Mariah's tried something fresh and new for the first time since Fantasy and it's gone down big with her fans, hope the momentum carries across.

Re: Mariah inspired by Whitney? (78,206) (78,208) by Bill from the UK
Great description of the Emotions album there Mara. It's a beautiful and underrated album. In terms of Mariah being inspired by Whitney, Narada Michael Walden did say that when they were working on I Don't Wanna Cry, she was constantly asking him if her material was anywhere on par with Whitney's new material for I'm Your Baby Tonight. So she was aware of her popularity and influence and more than likely that she was brought in to match her in many aspects.

Forgotten gem: Vanishing (78,162) by Bill from the UK
Following on from The One, I was listening to Vanishing (I do most days of my life), and I am astounded at how a girl of 18 (maybe younger) wrote such a moving, timeless, beautiful song. Other than Vision of Love, it is the true highlight of the debut album, and in amongst all the over production and dated synth of the other tracks, it stands out as simply being Mariah's incredible voice and a piano. And those live versions where she transitions into her upper register at the end... wow.

Hahaha. Licia I love you. I wonder if the board will go a month without the obligatory "Migrate should have been a single" post haha.

Re: Forgotten gem: The One (78,101) (78,118) by Bill from the UK
The One is my favourite song from CB. I was so stoked when it was announced as the second single, but when it got switched out for Boy, part of me died. Boy is one of the worst songs Mariah has ever done (only Why You Mad tops it), so my brain couldn't quite comprehend why that decision was made. To this day, it is beyond me.

Those 45 seconds were great. Can't wait to hear the full song.

Re: Paper Magazine photoshoot (78,032) (78,042) by Bill from the UK
The pic of MC in the car with the Vegas strip behind her would be a great cover for if a DVD of her #1 to Infinity show is ever released.

The Art of Letting Go, the original (and better) album title.

Re: ATHT (77,982) (77,988) by Bill from the UK
I agree. Kylie Minogue is a very popular Australian singer who had a string of hits throughout the 80s and 90s in her homeland and Europe. She eventually did the "Anti-Tour", which was her singing b-sides, album tracks, or singles that weren't huge successes. Her fans ate it up. Just imagine MC singing Vanishing, Till The End of Time, The Wind... or even bringing back numbers that haven't been on her set lists for years, like Anytime You Need a Friend, Open Arms, The Roof.

Your post should be used as the forward [sic] to the 20th anniversary re-release in the inlay. Great words. Thank you.

Hero (acapella) (77,915) by Bill from the UK
Hey all. That YouTube channel that posts the acepella links (Make It Happen, Underneath the Stars, Emotions etc) has posted the studio acepella for Hero. Check it out, it sounds beautiful, especially the bridge.

Re: ABMB with demkids (77,898) (77,901) by Bill from the UK
Yeah I'm not sure how I feel about Mariah parading the kids around on stage like she does. It's cute and everything, and Monroe seems to be more into it than Morrocan, but they didn't really ask for that life. I'm sure it's fine and she wouldn't force it upon them if they didn't want to do it, but still. Not sure I'd make that decision if I were in her stilettos.

Re: Something new (77,780) (77,785) by Bill from the UK
It's so bizarre to me that nobody ever mentioned this before. I completely agree. It was the downfall of that era.

Re: Mariah Carey collection (77,742) (77,743) by Bill from the UK
I collected Mariah's Sony releases, during her initial stint at Columbia. I gave up after Glitter as more CD-Rs and questionable promos on eBay started appearing. I was collecting back in 1995 at record fares etc. before the Internet was a thing and just before her spike in popularity which meant I was able to get loads of her earlier items for not that much money. I also used to get CDs from mail order catalogues. I got pretty everything, but sold most of the vinyl when I moved house (big regret), but have some great items remaining which are really valuable now. I love talking collections and like you I do dust them off from time to time and clean the CDs, change the cases for new, and read the inlays haha.
