About Edward from USA:

Orkun / possible duets (51,314) by Edward from USA
Orkun, I also think she's cooking something with other big names, but reworking her #18's would be too much and not enough time, unless she's doing cut and paste which I hope she isn't. She definitely has an ace under her sling, we may be pleasantly surprised.

Just relax (51,310) by Edward from USA
I know that the anticipation is killing us, but we need to take a chill pill and relax. Vegas people are not amateurs, they didn't just throw a project at Mariah for her to run. They know what they are doing, and they also have their own promotional plan, it's not up to Mariah, the promotion is stipulated in her contract. I know Mariah needs to look stunning, but I rather have her singing well consistently during her Vegas run, that's my main worry. She's known for her voice, and the audience will judge her by her talent. I'm hoping she's rehearsing those songs that have turned out to be too difficult for her to sing. This is the time for Mariah to redeem herself by coming on stage with confidence, showing the audience why she's the last diva standing. I have the feeling that we are going to be bombarded with lots of surprises that will start the engine in preparation for her first show.

Alain / Weakness of the Body (51,305) by Edward from USA
Alain, I don't think it would be appropriate for Mariah to include a song about Osteoporosis in the new edition of #1's. People would think she's trying to gain sympathy due to her shoulder injury.

Maybe, just maybe (51,304) by Edward from USA
Maybe Mariah is still looking kind of bloated because of the medication she's taking for her injury. I noticed that when she started promotion for "#Beautiful", back in 2013, she looked stunning, as thin as she was when she sung "AIWFCIY" at Jimmy Fallon. Then she dislocated her shoulder, and started gaining weight. I personally think she shouldn't go to Vegas looking the way she looked on "The Elusive Chanteuse" tour, but if she can't help it for medical reasons, I completely support her taking care of what's most important, her health.

It's just sex, chill out / Glitter (51,259) by Edward from USA
The fact that Mariah may be having sex with Brett doesn't necessarily mean she's going to marry him or that she's dating him. They are just having fun, neither of them is underage, so they can have as much fun as they want. As for those who consider Brett not suitable for Mariah because of his looks, imagine Mariah without the following: extensions, eyelashes, corset, and makeup. I'm pretty sure if Brett gets a facial, a haircut, a manicure, a pedicure, and put some make-up on, he would look very presentable. Nick was very presentable, but look what happened. Looks can be deceiving. When you only concentrate what's on the outside, that's usually what you get. Most people wouldn't believe whom Hugh Jackman is married to, but they've been together for nearly 20 years, with a solid marriage of 16. All that glitters isn't necessarily gold.

Carpool karaoke / Andrew (51,215) by Edward from USA
I also think that the carpool thingy was meant not for Mariah to be belting or even trying to do that. I think they are slowly working on getting people to like her again, just like they did during TEOM era. If Mariah had started singing/showing off in the car, it wouldn't have been as funny as it was. Andrew, at this point I think Mariah has already gotten the memo. She knows that if she doesn't come back with a well-put together plan, a decent video, and a good song, she'll be done. The competition is tough, and she knows very well people are not catering to "You're Mine (Eternal)" types of songs. So, before we start criticizing her for about anything, let's give her a break to see what she has to deliver once these Vegas shows begin and the new single and video come out. I think it's only fair. I agree with you though that in case she should use some of her money for a decent video. It would be an investment in her own career.

Mimi L. / fun times (51,199) by Edward from USA
Mimi L., sometimes we take ourselves so seriously here that we forget how fun it is to be a fan of Mariah's. I'm glad you laughed at my joke, that was the intention. I hope she stops swinging though, we need her arm fully functional for Vegas.

Feliz cumpleaƱos Mariah / the glove (51,171) by Edward from USA
Wishing you a very happy 45th birthday, Mariah. Many would kill to look that hot at your age, so own it. I love you. Has it occurred to you guys that maybe Mariah wears that glove because that's the hand she uses to slap her nannies when they are getting too close to Roc and Roe? It would make lots of sense. Maybe she's back using the sling because she slapped two of them at the same time. You know Mariah can be very creative.

Isiah / Weren't records meant to be broken? (51,129) by Edward from USA
Isiah, records were meant to be broken. Mariah's held that record for 20 years now, such an accomplishment. "Uptown Funk" looks like the song that at least would tide it. "Uptown Funk" is a great record and from a great artist, so if it were to surpass or tie "One Sweet Day", I wouldn't mind, but we still have a whole month to go, many things can happen in four weeks time. How do I feel? Well, as a fan I would love for Mariah to hold the record forever, but that's virtually impossible. It's going to be a sad moment, but I'll get over it. Just anybody can break or tie a record, but rarely you'll find an artist with two masterpieces like "Daydream" and "Butterfly", an excellent holiday album like Merry Christmas, and a critically acclaimed comeback album like "The Emancipation of Mimi". They can break the record, but doing so won't ever take away any of Mariah's accomplishments.

Thinking out loud Ed, Sam and Mariah in the lonely hour (51,076) by Edward from USA
Two soulful artist who put out great albums in 2014 that keep going strong in 2015 are Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith. I do think that Sam Smith has the more powerful voice, but Ed's lyrics and soul are refreshing. Both of them remind me of 90's Mariah. Why is that? Well, besides the great music and production, both Sam's "In The Lonely Hour" and Ed's "X (pronounce as Multiple) albums can be listened from beginning to end without skipping a track and the songs are introspective and soulful. That's a feast that not many artist could accomplish, but 90's Mariah was always on point when it came to that. Mariah Carey, Daydream, Butterfly, Music Box, Merry Christmas could be listened to from beginning to end without skipping any tracks. Toni Braxton's first album was also like that. Sam and Ed, just like Mariah, have albums with a theme as if they were telling a story. It is refreshing to see young artists making unforgettable music. Should Mariah decide to collaborate with any of them, it would definitely be something different, and they would help Mariah get the initial momentum to keep slaying with subsequent singles. I'm happy to have discovered both their albums. Ed and Sam are not about cute faces that will eventually fade in time, but about great music that might transcend generations.

The powers that be (51,017) by Edward from USA
We don't need a "satanic order" to know that this world is governed by those with power and money. It is true that just for the right amount of money they can actually made a DJ not to play an artist and drown his/her career easily. Money can also buy good and bad press, it all depends on how much money and the people you can manipulate. If the illuminati were so powerful with their spells, they would've cured Whitney instead of "killing her" or maybe they'll give Mariah her 90's voice back. Mariah is an aging star, Rihanna will also be in time, but isn't that the game of life? Nothing stays the same. There were great vocalist before Mariah, and there are going to be great ones after her, people are going to keep dying and accidents will happening, there are going to be good people, but also there are going to be criminals out there, that's life.

May, Annabelle is coming (51,016) by Edward from USA
May, I completely agree with you about these ridiculous conspiracy theories. Some people are always looking for the fifth leg of every situation. They've gone though an entire Rihanna video frame by frame looking for something that looks satanic, and they swear by it. This guy sold a DVD to a friend of mine in which a guy was talking about supposed forthcoming events that were inevitable, that he had been part of the illuminati, but he had deflected and was now warning people about what he had heard from these super powerful human beings in their meetings. The guy was very charismatic and spoke very well, he sounded so convincing, but I guess I'm not easily indoctrinated, I had enough with my Catholic family trying to shove the Bible up my behind. Well, none of these events ever happened, and that was in 2011. Tommy tried it with Thalia, it never happened. He tried with Lindsay Lohan, it never happened. So, these Illuminati people are very much hit and miss. It's time they resuscitate Whitney, her death was what I call "illuminati gone wrong". Oh my God, I just saw Annabelle, she's coming for me. This could be my last post. Help meeee.

The illuminati is coming for Mariah (51,013) by Edward from USA
Let's not pretend we haven't seen Mariah out and about without her bodyguards before. She's been out alone with her brother Morgan several times, I just don't remember the style of his earrings, maybe they were the "Eyes of Tommy". She's been to the Aquarium and even to Central Park without them, just an assistant. My friend got a picture with her when she was shopping by herself in mall Brooklyn, no assistant. Many big names in the industry move around without an entourage sometimes, they want to be able to breathe and not come across as weird in places where people are as rich as they are if not more, and are not being escorted by a bunch of giants to protect them. There are many pieces of jewelry out there with signs and symbols, but that doesn't necessarily mean people know anything about them or that those who find them cute or own them belong to this "satanic" order that "is killing artists" because they are worth more dead than alive. The most ridiculous thing I've seen on YouTube is that Whitney Houston was offered as a tribute so that Brandy could take her place. Well, Brandy had a great album and still is not relevant. So where is the power of this illuminati? If we look for lights in the sky, we'll sure find them, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are there.

Shelly (50,993) by Edward from USA
Shelly, I definitely know you'll be back pretty soon. The messageboard is like "Honey" to you, and we love your posts. You've brought some sort of balance to the board. I know you will not be posting regularly, but you'll definitely be "Looking In" from the "Outside", and then "Someday", sooner than later, we'll be more than happy "Just To Hold You Once Again". For now you're "Vanishing", but you can be sure that we'll "Never Forget You". "Without You" it won't ever be the same. I know you've been through a lot, but always remember that there's a light inside of you that shines brightly, he tried but he couldn't "Take That Away" from you. Spread your wings and prepare to fly, for you have become a "Butterfly", I truly think you've made it "Through The Rain".

Abraham / the holy nodules (50,795) by Edward from USA
Abraham, I've thought for a long time now that maybe Mariah got some sort of surgery that didn't come out right. Even though I clearly understand that nothing stays the same, the quick decline of her voice has always baffled me. I will always support her, but to be honest, I haven't felt as excited about her projects as I used to. MIAMTEC is a great album, I love it, but I rarely find myself playing it. I think it is because while the music is great, her aver all sound has stayed the same. I would love something fresh and completely different. I think she can still make great music, she just has to take some risks, it might actually pay off.

Beyond repair / Big Jim "Right" and Little Red Riding JD (50,794) by Edward from USA
The relationship between Mariah and Walter is beyond repair. When they broke apart, Walter wasn't expressing any kind of desire to work with Mariah again because he was still a hot producer for Celine, Savage Garden and others. Now that he's desperate, he's trying to reconnect, but his reaching out doesn't come across as sincere to me. We, Aries people, stand for loyalty, we might forgive a betrayal just to move on with our lives. Mariah is a huge comeback album, a marriage, two babies, another great Christmas album, and another divorce apart from Walter. They are in completely different places, they are like strangers, it's been 18 years. Just like most producers, Walter's mojo is gone, but Mariah's still able to produce great music or get a hit even if it's not a #1, but a hit nonetheless. I don't mind Mariah working with JD or Big Jim, they can still produce great music, but other than great music, Mariah also needs to deviate a bit from her formula and typical sound. Mariah came a winner out of the 90's when others stayed there because she experimented with different sounds. No matter how great the music is, if she doesn't experiment as a way to transition, I'm afraid we'll be getting the same old music that only us fans connect to.

Shelly / Wendy Williams / The Beatles (50,635) by Edward from USA
I know The Beatles through my father who is an avid fan. Growing up I was exposed to "Let It Be", "I Wanna Hold Your Hand", "Yesterday", "Love Me Do", "Twist and Shout", "Drive My Car", and my father didn't even know how to speak English, that's how legendary and influential The Beatles were. Apart from the aforementioned songs, I tried to listen to their back catalog, but I couldn't get into any other songs besides those. Maybe it is a generation thing, but I won't put them down either to elevate Mariah. Mariah doesn't need that, she's an icon, and just like The Beatles she's brought her own influence to the music scene. Shelly, the day after Whitney died, Wendy Williams tried to pull some crocodile tears that were so insincere I almost slap her with her own wig. It was if she was pushing them out, so dishonest and for the show. She made Whitney's passing about her. I don't hate Wendy, but she is phony and goes with the flow, and one must be careful with people that go with the flow for they tend to be double-faced, and would sell you for a dime in the blink of an eye. So, Mariah shouldn't ever go to her show, she's been very vicious towards her.

Jon, TheVoice / that 1993 rendition (50,568) by Edward from USA
Jon, when Mariah didn't have to worry about her voice working or not on a performance, she could concentrate on being an entertainer through her gestures, emotion, and confidence. She would even try some dance moves. Now you can clearly see she is more focused on getting through the performance rather than enjoying the performance itself. She's more into being careful about not messing up certain notes than delivering a stellar performance. When she had control over her voice, I don't remember any "glitches" with her earpieces. That rendition of Hero portrays a confident woman with total control of her instrument and technique. I hope she brings some of that confidence to her Vegas shows. I hope she stops using the whistle register as a facade, it is not working anymore. I'm happy she's keeping quiet. She needs to bring a different and more positive attitude before her Vegas run begins. TheVoice, thanks for your words. After I expressed my opinion about Mariah's new booty, I thought everybody hated me. I guess I had been listening to "All About The Bass" too much.

The Sound of Music (50,533) by Edward from USA
Some of us were really lucky to experience The Divine Vocal Trinity (Mariah, Celine and Whitney) at their peaks in the 90's. The feeling, the expectation, the music, how these women were celebrated worldwide was magical. It was good having not only your favorite, but the other two that could keep us entertained while we waited for the other one to release new music. Most albums were conceptual rather than a bunch of unrelated songs for the sake of scoring a hit. I could listen to Mariah's "Butterfly" and Celine's "Let's Talk About Love" from beginning to end, but can we actually say that about any of Rihanna's albums? I like Rihanna, and a few of her songs, but once her glory days are gone, she won't have a "Daydream" or "Butterfly" under her belt. She'll most likely break Mariah's #1's record, she's tied Mariah with equal number of top 10's with her new single, but she won't ever be Mariah or be on her league. The competition in the 90's was tough, you had to bring your A game if you wanted to succeed, but those days are long gone. We've been left and mostly settled for uninspired shitty music. This is an era where Justin Bieber and Katy Perry are considered super stars, go figure. Good music is slowly but surely making a comeback, Sam Smith's album "In The Lonely Hour" and Ed Sheeran's album "X (read Multiple)" remind me of how great music used to be. Their successes prove that quality will always trump garbage.

Ardis / imperfections (50,325) by Edward from USA
Ardis, you would be surprised at the many doors a booty could open for an artist these days. I agree with you about the rest though. When Destiny's Daughters released "Bootylicious", their popularity went up by 60%. 20% of that was due to the exposure of the booty on its respective video.

Deedre and TheVoice / the booty (50,324) by Edward from USA
Don't you guys agree that a bigger booty would expose Mariah to a wider audience? To see it, you'd have to visualize it, and see the booty for what it is, on its own merits. Then mentally attach it to Mariah, and you'll see what I'm talking about. When she got her new boobs her popularity went up by 20%. Can you imagine what a new booty could do? Deep song titles with meaningful lyrics like "The Power of the Booty", "Touch My Booty" or "Booty Up" would now come alive. The possibilities would be endless. It would really be interesting to see Aretha sing any of those songs with the word "Booty" in the title, just like she sung "Touch My Body" before. I swear this is my last post addressing the booty.

New booty / new #1's (50,314) by Edward from USA
I think that when Mariah gets her new booty she'll bounce back easily. She only has to do it gradually though. I hope she'd learned her lesson by trying to make people think that her then new acquired boobs were the result of push-up bras, until her boobs came out of the closet while giving her acceptance speech on behalf of Lee Daniels. I think a new booty, not as big as Beyoncé's, would help her achieve a few more #1's. If Cher could score a #1 at 52 with her new face, why can't Mariah with her new booty. I just hope she doesn't go for a donkey booty like Nicki Minaj or Kim Kardashian, but rather a round, fluffy, and natural looking one. Some would think that it is a stupid idea, but one mustn't underestimate the power of a new booty when is carried with grace and class. After all Mariah coined the term bootylicious before Destiny's child used it in a song.

Darryle / Rihanna's #1's (50,281) by Edward from USA
Darryle, Rihanna has 13 #1's, not 10. She's getting closer to breaking Mariah's record, but records are meant to be broken. Rihanna doesn't have to release new albums to get #1's, just by doing some of her usual collaborations, specifically with Eminem, whom she has collaborated with three times already, she'll keep on scoring #1's. The thing is that a #1 these days doesn't equate to a #1 back in the 90's or early 2000's. A single was usually over two dollars and the maxi singles were even more expensive. A regular single from the 90 is equivalent to two or three digital songs or even more if we're talking about the maxi singles. Rihanna will have her run like Mariah, but she won't ever be remembered or put in the same league as Mariah, Whitney, Celine, and Madonna. Rihanna is an artist of the moment, and her star power is starting to deflate already, but she's still young. Mariah will always hold the record for the most album sold for a long time, Rihanna is not the one who'll snatch that away away from her. I wish Rihanna success, she always has the best things to say about Mariah, unlike Katy Perry. If Mariah wants more #1's, she'll have to change the formula and adjust to the current times, just a little.

Orkun / Game of Thrones (50,152) by Edward from USA
Orkun, I thought your post was great and well intentioned. As for Abraham, I'm sending Shelly to give him a big hug, he won't be able to resist. Abraham, we have disagreed in the past, but I also like your presence on this board. Remember one thing though, that Eric, the webmaster and Orkun are both from the Netherlands, they might even be cousins. Don't mess with him.
