Amber Rose article (64,831)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
"Carey also allegedly demands that her music is played at doctor's appointments, parent teacher conferences and at other people's concerts." Haha this is the best thing I have read today. But jokes aside does Mariah's people really carry big lights so that when people take pictures she has good lighting? That's a tad extreme.

Article: Mariah Carey's manager flips out on cyberbullies (64,830)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Ow, Stella strikes again with her unprofessional response. She should have been prepared for this if she wanted to push her kids in the limelight so much. People like Kylie Jenner and all get it way worse. But what set her off really? What comment? Maybe Marissa should send the petition to Page Six too, just to really get Stella crazy. Does Mariah know if this woman keeps going off on tabloids?

Ugh I hate commenting on how she should live her personal life, but it's sad that she is repeating the same thing that happened to her even after saying she doesn't want to make her kids through it. Both Mariah and her kids had to go through their parents divorcing at age 4. The constant traveling is like how Mariah said she had to move around with her mom so much. Not getting to see their father as much. Plus these kids being around all the partying and booze.

Ugh "Breakdown" gives me life. Mariah's voice and Bone Thugs just went so good together. The song was perfection. The video is one of my favorite Mariah videos ever. Shame it never got a proper release.

Re: American Idol dresses (64,787) (64,788)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

No problem at all. Wilfredo Rosado styled her during Idol. This is the same guy who styled her up until he was fired just months back, he also designed her new engagement ring. I was wondering how the same guy who made her look so fashionable during Idol was responsible for some of the worst fashion blunders post Idol. So I came to the conclusion, that it is quite possible that when Mariah was on Idol, she was given a lot of clothes by the fashion houses to wear on screen because AI has a huge audience and would get the dress noticed. So they probably sent her their best pieces and Wilfredo picked from there. Plus AI had a lot of say over what Mariah can wear on the show. So I guess that explains it.

This woman looks gorgeous here. Love everything about the look. She looks like she did during E=MC2 era. Love the effortlessly gorgeous hair, the cute top and I love me some casual Mariah. Seriously she looks like she could be freaking 25 here.

Re: Panties in a bunch over petition (64,782) (64,785)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Honestly people are so immature. They can constantly whine about things they want to change but won't do anything to change it. I don't see why they are getting so worked up about the petition when what they should be worried about is spreading those unflattering videos of Mariah around the web. People seem to think somehow that asking Mariah to post on her social media is the most disrespectful thing one can do to her. Pay them no mind Marissa, "haters gonna hate".

So I think there were 4 black dresses that she paired up with straight hair. I am not sure which one you are looking for but here is dress 1, dress 2, dress 3 and dress 4. I hope that helps.

ET (64,760)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Mariah will apparently be on ET to talk about "new music, Empire and Vegas". I think she should avoid "Empire" now. I was one of the people super excited when I heard she might be in it during season 1. But after season 2, I think they have really gone overboard with the cameos. Mariah should instead focus on trying to get a role on some other popular show, one that does not usually take a lot of celeb guests. Like "How To Get Away With Murder". Rihanna recently landed the iconic role of Janet Leigh in "Psycho" for "Bates Motel". If Mariah wants she can go down Gaga's path and join AHS, but that is something that will draw comparisons, but if she is confident enough then why not?

Haha that was hilarious. The "whistle" at the end. We should be expecting 5 #1's now, just so that we can finally break The Beatles record and get Rihanna off our backs.

Celine the fashionista (64,750)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Celine Dion has hired a new stylist, Law Roach and seems like he has turned her into an overnight fashionista by picking out the most chic and trendy with a touch a edgy outfits. The Internet has taken note of this too and I checked out the photos and I loved her new style. A soft yellow overcoat with thigh high Balmain boots, a chic short dress and all that. Shows that with the right stylist, anyone can achieve the fashion icon role, but one has to agree to try something new. Mariah could do the same. I mean the woman has all the money in the world then why show up to red carpets in lingerie or tacky outfits?

Re: Theme (64,733) (64,734)

If she wants a comeback in any capacity, she will have to set everything up in advance. This is where Stella can show what she is capable of, if she is capable at all, apart from partying and getting her name in the magazine articles alongside Mariah. Mariah should learn by now that just by using her name she can't get commercial success on new projects. Yes people will still pay good money to watch her in Vegas and tours for the nostalgia, but for her to push her new material, she can't rely on her brand. She needs to not only woo back her original listeners but also appeal to the newer, younger audiences (if she wants another successful era). But even success aside, the cheapening of her image needs to stop and if she is really the diva who loves everything luxurious, she needs to act like she has the budget to pull of luxurious visuals. And no that doesn't mean her laying half naked dripping in diamonds. We all know she can do that everyday.

Theme (64,730)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
If she wants to venture into the dark, moody, artsy territory, I'm fine with it. Songs like BGK, "The Roof", "My All", "Looking In" are some examples of dark and moody songs that I really love. "My All" already had a very sultry yet haunting look about it and it's one of my favorite videos. In my mind I always wished for a dark, moody video for BGK (the opportunity lost on that one, just too much, my heart still aches for that). Anyways another example of a dark, moody song I really liked recently is "6 inch" from Lemonade featuring The Weeknd. It's sexy, and dark and mysterious. I love it. I don't necessarily love the video, but the song is great. Whatever direction Mariah goes, I know I am repeating myself, but I hope she has a good budget for visuals and promotion. Say what you want, most people didn't just get into Lemonade on first listen, no matter what they say. Ya they might have liked one or two songs, but it took more listens to like the album as a whole. But what caused the main hype around it (aside from supposed Jay Z bashing, which was a stunt) was the visuals. It left people mesmerized. So since Mariah is already into her next album, I hope she really has a promo/visuals plan in mind if she wants it to get mainstream success. She has been listening to Lemonade, Rihanna's "Work" and The Weeknd, all of which has a moody, dark, mysterious vibe to it, so maybe that's the direction she is headed. I am glad she is actually listening to recent songs and not avoiding them like she did with MIAM. It's not a bad thing to draw inspiration from other artists. Although I understand why she must have not wanted to get influenced during MIAM because she wanted to tell her life story. But ya I am glad she is listening to other popular songs. I hope we get some good collaborations too. This will also probably push her out of her comfort zone.

Complex (64,725)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Mariah looks even better in the Complex magazine shoot behind the scenes footage. I really hope when it comes to her new album (which she apparently started working on mid May) and her new singles that she really puts in an effort to have videos like these which look high budget and has a strong theme. No more tacky green screen moments and sitting on a rain forest touching herself. How surprised will you guys be if this behind the scenes doubles up as a new single promo with the title "Eyes wide open"?

Leaked photos (64,716)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
In other news, I really wish Mariah's team would stop leaking pictures of her and James. That picture of James possibly groping Mariah's boobs was so unnecessary, it doesn't even look like there is chemistry, it looks either staged or that this is the first time James touched a woman and hence the surprised look on his face. We all know it came from the team. The pictures are pretty clear and there weren't many people present during that time.

Complex behind the scene video (64,714)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
This video is a behind the scenes of the complex shoot. Setting aside all the illuminati vibes and all that, I think the visuals are quite stunning and rich. It feels high budget and artsy. I hope her videos get better now that she seems to be confident in her own skin.

Weird parts (64,713)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
The bishop part was weird, I don't know why she had to say she said "bye" to him. It could be that she said it in one way, in print it looks different but I don't know. The kids going and starting to interrupt the interview was weird too, like why didn't Stella intervene? You don't just let kids in and sit there and talk to Mariah while she's working, that's rude and it's weird how they are like "you are my only friend", I know they were joking but seriously keep it professional. I see someone on UKMix, who I am 99% positive is also a member of MCA (not Travon) tried to drag our petition into this by say "the petition people must be looking dumb and nuts right about now". Of course no one replied to that particular individual, because (1) they are as disliked on that board as they are here (2) the article/shoot had nothing to do with the petition, this individual in question hardly ever makes sense so I am not surprised.

I think they did take the theme from "Eyes Wide Shut", with all the masked men, and the big mansion and all. The lingerie and the semi exposed dancers could be implying the orgy about to happen haha. I really don't know. When I first saw the pictures, I thought it was an interesting concept, dark and mysterious, quite a clash from the girly and festive Mariah. I took it at face value. I hope that's what it is and that we are not going down Beyonce route.
