About Norman from USA: I've been a fan of Mariah's since I first heard Love Takes Time (I don't know how I initially missed Vision of Love), and I haven't looked back since. Her music has been there for me in my darkest hours to help lift out of the depths of whatever I was going through at the time. She's my all time favorite female singer, even though I love many others. It's funny to think of her music as a "friend", but it's always been there for me. I love her talent. Last album (108,009) by Norman from USA I think [your] documentary idea is brilliant. It would be a fantastic way to move forward without addressing every little thing since the start of the decline. And you're absolutely right about not counting her out and the Cher comparison. I've thought about that guy years. I've always thought that Mariah was the only artist to debut before the 2000's that could genuinely surprise everyone with a solid hit with the right song. Her versatility is unmatched in the industry imo. Understand from us, I sincerely doubt she'd ever allow herself to be that vulnerable in front of a camera for a full documentary. Last album (108,003) by Randy from USA I always try to remember what Special K said to me once when I was going hard on Mariah's deception, "What what you have her do?" Honestly, at this point everyone likes documentaries. So, maybe something about the voice with a doctor telling her on camera, "If you keep on pushing this, you'll never sing again." And that being the catalyst for a change in her arrangements and her new sound. Don't address the past 28 years, which by the way there are tons of dissertations and dissections on MCs voice that I am now discovering on YouTube and RIP TikTok. Some of which are hours long. She needs an undeniable song and concept. I like Cher's Believe a lot. MC needs a song that everyone will like across all formats and we will have another hit. For as much as I have been hard on MC over the last 28 years, I acknowledge time, I know two things. #1 People generally like her even if they are laughing at her at times. #2 You never count her out. My sister and mom had just moved to LA from Minnesota in October and we found them a nice duplex rental in Altadena in December. Well, that's where the Eaton fire is, and this past Wednesday everything they owned burned down with the house. It was wild. They came to stay with me for a couple of days because they were going to have power outages in the area - that was Tuesday night. By Wednesday morning it was all gone. It's been difficult to process and know how to feel. The main reason my sister moved back with my mom is because my mom has dementia, and most of our family is here in LA. Moving back was seen as good because we'd get to share in her day-to-day care, you know? Now everything's gone. And there are thousands of people without a home. We're blessed that they're still alive and that they could stay with me. A lot of people weren't that fortunate. Please keep the people of LA in your thoughts. Thank you. I don't know its current status in 2025. Homes in Calabasas have been affected by the Kenneth fire. It is just horrible what has happened to so many people in L.A. My heart goes out to everyone. Bee in my bonnet (107,840) by Norman from USA I truly hate to interrupt the yearly Christmas news and celebration (I can't wait for the 19th and 20th weeks to arrive so she can social distance herself from the others on the chart), but I have to get this off my chest: After having duets with Bublé, Bieber, 98°, Joe, West Life, Khalid, Jussie, and others - no one will ever convince me that she couldn't find a song to duet with Luis Miguel because he couldn't keep up with her. OSD Tori Kelly (107,352) by Norman from USA I think she gets nervous performing these songs. She has the skill and range, but the execution is a bit messy and not as sonically pleasing as it could be. Having Wanye sorta force-coaching her with the head spasms didn't help either. One thing about OSD for me has always been the Wanye and Mimi bridge adlibs - it drives the emotional element of the song to its peak and really delivers in a harmonious and powerful vocal performance. Inspirational songs (107,042) by BFF from United States I'm no supporter of Trump's, but the reality is that Biden's record on racial issues is equally bad or worse than Trump's. With Biden, you have five decades of off-color racial comments/gaffes and horrible policy choices that negatively impacted African-Americans. The difference is that Biden pretends to be your friend while stabbing you in the back, while Trump stabs you in the front. Biden voted for the 1994 crime bill which resulted in disproportionately higher rates of incarceration amongst African-Americans. He also spoke about how proud he was of his work with segregationists during his time in the Senate. And he was also opposed to busing as part of the de-segregation process. Vice President Harris called him out on this in the 2020 primary debate, go back and watch the clips. This is why I refused to support Joe Biden in the 2020 primary or the general election (and voted for Green Party candidate Howie Hawkins), why I thought he was an awful choice to be President Obama's VP (supported Obama in 2008 and 2012), and why I thought he was an awful candidate in 2008. Not saying that either Trump or Biden is great. I'm simply saying that Democrats are equally as capable as Republicans of racial bigotry, homophobia, misogyny etc. Almost every mainstream Democratic leader was opposed to same-sex marriage (Biden, Clinton, Obama, Clyburn, etc.) until the supreme court decision made it untenable to hold that belief. May Céline inspire Mariah? (106,844) by Norman from USA That's not happening. I agree she needs to try something a bit different if she actually wants to sell again, but I'm not convinced she cares about it. When she cares, she commits 100% and goes all in. When was the last time she really pushed? Memoires? #Beautiful during Idol? I love Caution and the videos, but I'm not sure she was 100% all in, but she did step a bit outside of her comfort zone by collaborating with some of those producers. I think she needs a partner to work with, someone like an LA Reid type of figure to push her. I think she does her best work when she's challenged and maybe even doubted, so she fights to prove them wrong. I think it has to be someone with a lot of knowledge and power - someone who she respects but that doesn't just agree with her on everything. Nothing great is forged in comfort, and I think she's gotten comfortable with where she's at and what she's achieved. She's magical in music, but business savvy, PR and branding are whole other beasts she never quite navigated successfully on her own. Her current team might have all the answers and ideas, but is she interested? I don't know. Do I think she wants that 20th #1 or 21st? Absolutely. I'm just not sure she currently has the drive to do so. Plus, these #1s are kind of a joke these days. They don't seem to be earned as much as they're curated through different media. But that's another Oprah. I can see her maybe changing up the producers a bit, but I'm not sure what else she'd actually change. A bunch of stuff they mentioned turned out to be false like a YAR MV, a YAR live performance the day after release, a strong promo plan for YAR to go to #1. Then of course there are rumors about Cardi and all but we'll see where it goes. But in the last few days I see there has been a few new posts indicating Mariah. First was a Butterfly emoji with the words "this March". The account uses Butterfly to indicate Mariah. Then it says MC and Janet Jackson are in the talks of a collaboration and the latest one with a hashtag rumor is a butterfly and snake emoji. Snake is usually now Taylor's avatar for reputation. While not a huge fan of the dress, I will give her kudos for stepping outside of her comfort zone lately fashion-wise and going for more high fashion moments. We know she likes to recycle the same style of black sequined early 2000's dresses with so I'll give her a pass for trying something new.
