Mariah Carey officially "breaks out" holiday season

Mariah Carey, commonly known as the "queen of Christmas", has officially ushered in the holiday season. The Grammy-winning singer/songwriter released a video Wednesday, the day after Halloween, depicting her breaking out of ice - just in time for the yuletide season.

In the clip, Carey is seen encased in a block of ice in a vault as a digital clock changes from October 31 to November 1. Workers adorned in Halloween costumes work to thaw the ice, which Carey breaks by singing her signature high note.

The record-breaking diva is then shown celebrating as her ubiquitous hit song "All I Want for Christmas is You" plays in the background. Carey teased that "the actual defrosting has begun," when she announced last month that her new "Merry Christmas One and All!" concert tour will kick off November 15.

The 13-city trek also makes stops in Los Angeles, Montreal, Chicago, Boston, Pittsburgh and Baltimore before concluding December 17 in New York City at Madison Square Garden.

Her 1994 holiday hit, "All I Want for Christmas Is You", co-written with Walter Afanasieff, has topped the Billboard Hot 100 charts for the last five years and is the first and only holiday song to reach diamond status, more than 10 million copies have been sold in the U.S. The track also made history as the first to hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in four different decades in 2020.

Mariah made history, not the track itself, for hitting #1 in 4 decades, the author and publication need to get their facts straight.
