Mariah's rigidity about her fashion choices is the same as her being rigid about not venturing outside R n' B. Her fashion during AI was on point because she was obligated to dress a certain way by the producers and possibly sponsored by labels to wear their outfits every night. She was not happy about it because she said many times that she didn't like it. She was dressed by Wilfredo then, she was dressed by Wilfredo after that too. The moment AI ended, Mariah had full control over what she wears so she goes back to what she thinks is sexy and glamorous. She really needs to let go and just let someone dress her. The woman is beautiful, she has a great physique, she's so tall and statuesque, she can be a fashion queen. But for that she needs to let go of her rigidity and just give someone else the freedom. That means all the other crazy things she is doing should be excused solely because we have yet to see her be in the worst scenario. Well if she isn't advised on it early on, she'll be pushing the limits more and more dahlin'. While Mariah's boob display and tacky outfit choices (Lord bless her soul, she is the most talented musician alive, no doubt, but her fashion choices are horrible) for years, even decades now, but we didn't have this whole period where all we got to see was her forgetting to zip up or button up her top and hence exposing her lace bra to the world. It has always been balanced before. She'd wear extremely plunging necklines, the next day she'd be out in a normal t-shirt. Nowadays all I see is her lace bra and boobs. So it's no wonder everyone is suddenly talking about it. We keep going like this, Miss Carey will be joining the "free the nipple" campaign soon too. With a "Yas Queen" from Stella too. I guess I'm so used to her having them out now it doesn't bother me lol. Everyone is talking about how inappropriate it is to have them out at this event, but did you see the U.N Secretary make a b line towards her at the end of the speech lol. He was like move over Larry, it's my night and I want to be next to Mariah and take pictures lol. I'm sure he doesn't mind the bra era at all lol. I think I've got a personal bias, because I love her look during this era, long tight brwon curls (like when she was on Oprah), I love those damn boots she's wearing in the video, the song itself slays me and I love that the video is filled with proper lambs. Don't know if you all noticed (65,227) by Edouard from France The UN event actually wasn't a UN event per say. It was actually a Hollywood night. The RatPac is partnering with the UN to create a new TV show which will present UN stories in different countries, situations, times. This is actually a very interesting project. A great cause. Check this link for more info. Now, about Mariah's outfit (though I never had a problem with it), I get it more. It's not about being "grandiose" with a long evening dress. It was more about being casual. Showing a little skin (she made sure her hair was covering her breast when she took the stage), I believe to ensure the coverage of the event, cause. She knows how to "use" herself for a great cause. It may seems pure vanity. I actually think it's more that she defends what she believes in. Mariah is never trashy. She's always right on the limit. 2013 (65,222) by Giovanni from USA In my opinion this is the year Mariah has looked her best. Her hair, make up, body and ensembles was all on point. She looked classy, glamorous and like the superstar she is. But after 2013 something happened. She went from looking fabulous to looking a mess. I and others have been saying for awhile now that Mariah is in desperate need of a stylist. She just does not dress well at all. All those Stella outfits are hideous. I mean I was completely shocked in 1997 when she emerged from the pool in a gold bikini and stilettos. But now I'm so immuned, I barely blink when Mimi wears something risqué (especially during this day and time). Now if she were to show them off Rihanna style (with piercing and all) or do a Lil Kim with one boob out, then I would be in an complete uproar. Now don't get me wrong she has worn quite a few cringe worthy ensembles, but nothing that would make me want to denounce her. Mariah would have to do a lot more than enjoy a few splashes and wear a tacky outfit here and there to lose my undying love and support. The way some folks speak of her on here you would think she got into a nasty twitter war with Nicki, a bar brawl with JLo, and dangled Roc and Roe over the balcony of her yacht.
