I know she can make it. She just needs to work harder for it. If Cher can get the biggest hit of her career at 51, why can't Mariah have it at 45? I'm happy that a lot of music execs are rooting for her.

I'm a gay guy and I can't stand it. From the mispronunciation of the word "infinity" (which will never contain the letter "d") to the messy way the word is sang. As soon as the "oh ah" kicks in, I hit skip.

Most straight guys thought Infinity had that glittery-tinkering instrumentals (I thought about that too when I first heard it lol). I'm straight and I'm not into Infinity but that doesn't mean no straight guys will like Infinity. I prefer that Mariah release something that is kinda more like Stay The Night, etc. Again, sexual preference doesn't dictate musical preference.

Mariah happy (56,298)

Hello Lambily. I follow MCA incessantly (pun intended lol) and sometimes I really can not believe the content on here. I love this woman more than I can express. My friends and people around me know and think I am bonkers but still. I even launched an expression we now use on funny moments. Whenever something is wrong or just not right, I would say in her very divalicious manner (with handgesture included): "Mimi says no." Mariah has inspired me, been a companion through so many times and whatever she does, right or wrong, I support her. Lipsyncing? Whatever, she has nothing to proove. Less PR? She has kids. This lady is a living legend and anyone who can do better... "Can the real MC please stand up to the mic?" I find her latest work the best and most genuine ever, commercial flops or not. Thank you miss Mariah Carey, MC, Mimi, elusive chanteuse for your gift and sharing it with us.

In 2013 less than a week after dislocating her shoulder and fracturing a rib Mariah performed My All, #Beautiful, Looking In, and Hero at the MLB Central Park Charity Concert. Mariah is still The Voice and this performance of Looking In proves it.

I couldn't agree more. JD always has her back. He may say things that the fans and Mariah don't want to hear, but I believe he says these things because he cares about her and he knows she can do better. IMO he's spoken nothing but the truth.

In one of the questions, "If you could engineer the comeback of one artist that has fallen from the charts in the last 10 years, who would it be?" The answer was a tie between Mariah Carey and John Mayer. Which shows that many are willing to root for her and support her.

Warrior Butterfly, I second your post. She has always mentioned a small intimate concert for her lambs promising to sing songs "only the lambs will know" but it never happens. In the theme of how popular lists are on this board (oh how we love them), here are my picks of rare songs I would like her to sing if such a concert were to occur. Like you, I have also pick songs that she can realistically pull off: All Alone In Love - Fav song on the album. Till The End of Time - The desperation in the lyrics and singing. Miss You Most - I could care less if it's not Christmas, fav song on the album. Should be as big as AIWFCIY if people gave it a chance. Slipping Away - I came across this song in 2006, what a shame I had missed it when I saw it on the b-side of the ABMB single in 96. Melt Away - Can I finally get an actual performance, like, for real? One of my top 5. The Roof - Her best song lyrically. My fav song of hers. Crybaby - Fav Song on the album. Loverboy - I don't care what anyone says, I still love this song to this day and it's underrated. Darn that she didn't get to perform it at MTV's 20th anniversary show that she was scheduled to headline. You Know You Got Me - Another underrated classic MC uptempo from an underrated album. Betcha Gon Know - She has no other song in her catalogue like this rarity. Its A Wrap - I've always loved her shoops and do wops since VOL. Faded - Have the background vocalists help you with all the layering or just change the arrangement or just sing with the backgrounds as backtracks, but I need this live.

I agree. JD is always misunderstood and shot down by the lambs. I remember the fans insulting the crap out of him, attacking him on all social media platforms when the roll out of MIAM got messy. He had to be Mariah's shield and take the hit while she completely stopped acknowledging the lamb riot (for those few months) and instead went ahead and tweeted about the most random things, like other artists or her necklace and what not. I think JD is one of those rare people in Mariah's life who actually cared about her personally and understood her musically. Fans keep blaming JD that he made Mariah go down the "rap sing style" but he always said that he keeps trying to make Mariah belt but she does what she wants. I hope Mariah is still in good terms with him. Abandoning him would be sad. They have known each other for over 2 decades now. JD and Mariah always had great songs. I can't blame the messy roll out of MIAM on JD.

How cool. You're also a fan since day one. I listened to the first Christmas album religiously. One of the memories I have I have of that era is the MTV contest they had where Bill Bellamy and Mariah called the winner. The winner met Mariah and saw her rehearse. I thought I would win for sure.

You know, from day one JD has always defended her. That's why it upsets me when fans were attacking him and blaming him for the MIAM roll out disaster. She wouldn't listen to any of his suggestions and she had so many other things going on privately and professionally. Even today after the whole firing er I mean no longer working together collaboratively (except musically), he always gives her proper place in music and entertainment as one of the biggest and talented musicians of all time. It's more of a rarity these days and just proves he has her best interest at heart.

Article: "Lose Yourself" is the most timeless song on Spotify (56,286)
by Joseph Pelle from san jose, california

Really this is irrelevant to all of us who do not use Spotify. This article shows what is popular among Spotify users. I personally use Amazon music, YouTube, Google, Pandora and iHeart radio. So I use many different outlets for music and Spotify isn't one of them. I've probably listened to Mariah's music a cumulative of over 100 million times just by myself so we can say Mariah is number one in my house but to others that may be irrelevant. I don't think Spotify is something we can use to measure an artist's success in the music industry. I rather stick with Billboard and RIAA and Soundscan.

It's funny Licia because a lot of people have mentioned Deniece Williams as someone Mariah may have been influenced by. Especially since Deniece sings in the whistle register and has the song Black Butterfly and Mariah has Butterfly. I'm only familiar with Black Butterfly but I will listen to Silly, Free, and Gonna Take A Miracle. I've been diving into classic singers and songs lately, especially in the r&b and soul genre. There is a lot of great music and singers back then that went under the radar and now with the internet we can access most of it. Here is a link to Desiree Coleman's You Wouldn't Hurt Me. She came out in 1988 and after her first album I believe she went gospel. You will probably recognize the incredible whistle register runs she does at the later part of the song.

Ariana realized from the second album (second year of the her pop "stardom") that she is making a fool of herself by trying to draw Mariah comparisons. That's why she tried to distance her music from signature Mariah style. The way she was using Mariah as an "inspiration" for her first album was embarrassing because she came out as a knock off version and got blasted for that. Ariana can sing but she tries too hard and copies from so many celebs, it's like she doesn't have an identity/personality.

Uni (can I call you that for short?), your post is the most accurate post in a long time. It's perfect, I couldn't have said it better. I hate hot air promotion. Since the Glitter era they have said, it's a mix of Vision Of Love etc. Just give us good music. It's really that simple. Not some rush job, because her lambs can tell. That's why MIAM was so good, she crafted each song to perfection while still making all these different genres fit on one album. Each song flowed nicely after one another because of the excellent sequencing which I believe she has mastered the art of. So to me, it doesn't matter the genre, just give quality songs, great vocals/arrangements, and well thought out lyrics.

Manny - random memory (56,280)
by Warren from Trinidad & Tobago

A fan since VOL premiered, and upon hearing she was doing Merry Christmas (pre-internet days here in the Caribbean), I imagined her singing Oh Holy Night and slipping in one high note somewhere in that killer ending. Upon finally getting the cassette (yes cassette) and seeing it on the tracklist, I tried my best not to skip forward to my fave Christmas song ever. When it came to it, and then that last chorus, and of course the high note, I just couldn't believe it, and felt like it was just for me. It remains the one time in my life a tear came to my eye from music - I am not a crier, though I should be given the amount of nonsense I have had to deal with. On a side note can she announce Beacon already? I want to book my ticket and airfare and hotel and the rest of my holiday.

Aside from the fact that it suffers from recent strange Mariah cop-outs, namely trying to use down-with-the-kids kitchen-window lyrics and the Beautiful-esque finishing way too soon, I think The Art Of Letting Go smacks of genius. It's actually quite beautiful to listen to. First time I heard it I punched the air at the last "Baby letting goooooo..." If only the lyrics were as universal and meaningful or inspiring as the title suggested. I still love playing it though.

I remember when Infinity debuted, the Webmaster wrote a post asking fans to "like" it if they loved the song. It got 200+ likes. I enjoy the song, I think it runs deeper than face value too, but that could be me just over analysing the song. But I tend to ask people of Giovanni's ilk the same question which often goes unanswered, why post on a Mariah fan site if you don't like anything about her anymore? To me it makes no sense. I just don't get it. Invest your time in something that brings a smile to your face, not a frown. You'll get wrinkles.
