Welcome back RJJ12 (48,468)

It was about time too. I can't believe you managed a whole month without the internet, bravo for that alone. About your observation that the board is slightly different than a month ago: I think more lambs showed up and showed out because of the Rockefeller event to defend Mariah because she was being treated so unfairly in the media, social or otherwise. Not to mention on YouTube, other forums as well as message boards across the internet. Of course, the haters that be stayed loyal to their cause of bashing Mariah at all costs, so naturally they rejoiced over all the negative attention. But like you so keenly pointed out there has been a lot more good, uplifting posts drowning out the bad than the other way around. It's why I tried to list all the positive lambs but had to give up midway because we were just that many. That put things back into perspective for me. Love is all around. Happy Christmas everyone.

Re: Live album (48,451) (48,466)

Darryle, I agree. I've always hoped a high quality CD of Mariah's best live performances would be released. I really like her Stevie Wonder cover of You And I and how she sounded singing Without You in the 1996 Tokyo concert. Also love the live versions of Hero and One Sweet Day that were included on the singles.

The last time Mariah's talent and status was in question she created The Emancipation. I think she'll create a masterpiece. Plus her last divorce inspired Butterfly and she didn't have children with Tommy. She's going to slay everyone like she did in 2005. Mark my words. The haters will be kissing her a$$.

Best manager for MC - Benny Medina (48,463)
by ADAM from USA
| |
|
|
Does anyone else think that Benny Medina was the best manager and mastermind behind the enormous success of TEOM? I think Benny probably left Mariah because she became unmanageable and erratic. The man is very talented and does wonders for JLo. I think if you put personal feelings aside, the magic he's worked for JLo career is amazing. The woman is also visible and is in high regard in the public's mind of someone who is very likable, fashionable, and multi-talented. I think if Mariah reeled in her diva persona and projected more her Long Island-ness, that she would still be likable and forgivable in the masses eyes. I know JLo and Mariah offer 2 distinct talents but I'm referring to the way they are both marketed to the public. During TEOM era, Mariah was tastefully styled by June Ambrose, her performances were on-point and live and her persona was serious. She was still MC but she wasn't this loose cannon that warbles on and on about nonsense and lighting.

I think that would be nice as well for her next album even, take time off to some voice lessons to better support her voice and work with some really great producers.

My wish (48,461)
by Leito from USA
| |
|

My wish for MC, forget about the glitz and glamour for one day. Forget the extensions, make-up, the ensemble. Instead, use the time to do necessary vocal warm-up. I want her to do a surprise stripped-down performance on an award show, or popular talk show. No dubbing, no pre-recorded vocals, no big production and no over-powering back-up singers. Just shut the mutha******* s**t down. Unfortunately, until then, she will not get much respect (as a singer) from the general public. Some lambs will say, "She doesn't have anything to prove anymore." I beg to differ. Obviously, MC still wants to stay in the game. She is still young enough to have more hits and more success. Call me selfish, I don't want all of MC's records to be broken by any of these younger and less-talented pop starlets. It's time for a reinvention. I don't think this is much to ask for. I feel the general public's perception keeps some of her best work from seeing the light of day. There have been too many missed opportunities. Sadly now, people only know MC as a mediocre, stiff singer. Not to forget the low-budget productions and outdated choreography. Now, before anyone jumps down my throat, I'm a loyal fan. I have spent lots of money supporting MC since VOL (1990). Someone needs to keep it 100 and not be like the people currently surrounding her. Look what happened when MC brought Benny Medina into the picture. The best-selling album of 2005, TEOM.

Merry Christmas musical (48,460)
by B from USA
| |
|
|
I remember when that was mentioned. I think Benny was the man behind that idea. I think Mariah realized she was too young to do a seasonal show. Maybe in 5 or 10 years from now. Mariah can act, she's proven that and everybody knows she can sing. My only problem is Broadway shows are daunting. Three of four performances a day/night. Her voice is too fragile for that. If she is going to do it she should do one show a week.

Mariah and Tommy were separated when she began seeing Derek. Technically they were still married but I don't think it's cheating. Like Rachel and Ross from Friends, they were on a break, lol.

Christmas shows (48,458)

I wonder if she will use any ideas from her Christmas themed musical project for Broadway during these shows. I think there were talks about making Merry Christmas into musical since early 2000s.

So I haven't had internet in over a month and I come back to the board and it's a totally different board today and I must say I like it. From Baby's well thought out defense posts for Mariah, to possible love connections and lambs linking up on other social media outside of MCA, it's great to read.

Mariah goes Country, Nikki (48,456)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
Nikki, I loved your post. That's one of Mariah's best covers ever. Shame it wasn't on one of her albums. I prefer it to other covers on her recent albums. I love how she put some twang in her voice and she sounded so authentic. I thought I had vocally heard the scope of Mariah's voice and when I heard this, I was shocked. I'm like, she needs to make a country album now. Why was this not on country radio or given a single treatment? Jermaine even said that Mariah has so many layers to her vocally that we haven't heard. I would love to hear more of the rare and out of the ordinary from her, it's like hearing her sing for the first time again.

All Mariah needs is promotion and word of mouth advertisement (48,455)
by B from USA
| |
|

I was with my best friend today and we started talking about Mariah, naturally. I asked her if she had heard Mariah's newest album and she said I didn't know she had an album out. The last song I heard of Mariah's was Beautiful and that was a great song. The masses haven't heard any of the follow up singles from the album. You're Mine (Eternal) was barely played on the radio. With the right song and the right push with a Clear Channel deal and radio and television spots, Mariah can easily bounce back from this minor set back. The public will warm to her because she's a single mom who's husband cheated on her and dragged her name through the muck.

Mariah and Derek (48,454)
by Marcel from Montréal, Canada

Yes, Mariah and Derek were seeing each other before the separation then divorce happened, so it means Mariah was certainly cheating on Tommy. Old news though. There was this former MC chauffeur that was about to write a book (I guess just a chapter or two, I mean I don't think you can wrote a whole book but you'd never know) about what they calles "Mariah's sexcapades" but they settled. Way back to 1996 we went. Wow.

enwar00 / how could you? (48,453)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
enwar00, I was curious as to why you had suggested removing "Help Me Make It" from my playlist, since it is a fans' favorite, just like "Slipping Way" and "Do You Think of Me". But now I understand, you hadn't caress your ears with it yet. Isn't it a great track? As simple as Mariah and some acoustic strings, no gimmicks. According to a friend who work on the production of Tennessee, Mariah recorded the song just like many country singers do, straight up, not cut and paste. I've a friend who loves old school Mariah, and he loves that song. I hope you got a chance to listen "My Love", even though Mariah's voice sounds kind of raspy on it, I love it. I think it is a good song.

B, the mystery man in the picture is me. I wouldn't post a picture of somebody else. I initially started my account with my face pic, then I changed it to a couple of funny baby faces, then I'm back to me. As for befriending you on Facebook, I'll gladly do it as soon as I open my new account. I had one, and eventually deleted it.

Live album (48,451)
by Darryle from USA
| |

I don't know about anyone else but I'd love for Mariah to do a live album. Almost like MTV Unplugged except these would be performances she's already done and she's edited them to have studio quality sound. I'd love to have her performances of I Wish You Knew/Over The Rainbow (Essence Awards), Underneath The Stars (Daydream Tour), and Fly Like A Bird (Grammys) as mp3s.

Mariah and Derek (48,449)
by Gilbert from USA
| |
|
|
Hey guys. Not sure who viewed the video I posted about Mariah and Tommy, but I have a quick question someone here might know if this is true. Was she dating him before her divorce was final? Because in their words it sounds like they are saying Mariah embarrassed him (Tommy) when this came out and this is how he knew his marriage was over. I was like hmm, so I was wondering if they are trying to say that Mariah Carey cheated on him before their divorce was final.

She didn't have a chance to warm up. Do vocal exercises. Mariah still has her voice, it's just fragile. She can't spend days being silent before gigs like she used to because she has kids so these underwhelming performances are forgivable and understandable. Her voice is a God given gift that should be cherished not ridiculed. PS Edward feel free to send me a friends request on Facebook. Others already have. Is that you in your profile pic or your man?

I've never heard of her but I think her explanation is spot on. Mariah needs to cover up during outdoor performances and besides she was on the phone for hours with lawyers which means that she gave a great performance under those circumstances.

Wow I'd never heard this song before, or at least I don't remember. I'm assuming it's from Tennessee. I absolutely loved it, so different for MC, and I can't stop listening to it. Nikki thanks so much for posting. I'm actually embarrassed that I suggested Edward to take it off his playlist, clearly I figured if I hadn't heard an MC song it must not be good, but I was so wrong.
