About Seoul (47,326) by K-zee from Korea
The only people that left were when she said "ok goodnight" after We Belong Together. It was just a few older couples, probably trying to beat the crowd to the crowd to the subway, I see this at most concerts. The majority, like 99% of people stayed right until the end. And, after All I Want For Christmas, the whole crowd was chanting "encore, encore". But then the lights came on and people started leaving. I think it is just a bad press bandwagon now, although I do understand people being frustrated at the ratio of mimed songs, she really did perform very well. A bad review for Seoul is not being fair.

The attack of Mariah game (47,325) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Being a lamb is not for the faint of heart. You have to be constantly on your A game, there is no relax mode because somebody is always coming for her sideways. Even the ones who were the closest to her at some point literally turn on a dime. It's no wonder she and MJ bonded. Well, I'm not going to be made to fell like a villain for looking forward to seeing her in concert, something I have never had the opportunity to do before, when she comes to Europe. Concerts are also a chance for fans to show their appreciation and love for the performer. There is always gonna be someone who isn't happy in the audience for whatever reason. But I refuse to let them be the barometer for what I personally enjoy about Mariah's concerts. I like the unpredictable adlibs and impromptu anecdotes. Where are there are so many reasons why I love Mariah, her voice is really only one aspect of the equation, a very lovely and magnificent part. But I think she is hilariously funny too, and intelligent, kind, generous, loyal, inspirational and Mariah has so much integrity, a quality I am most in awe of whenever it presents itself because of the rarity.

Mariah and the elusive surgery (47,324) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
May, Julie Andrews settled with the hospital responsible for the surgery so I'm not surprised that she has been gagged from speaking in depth about what exactly happened to her. But before the settlement she did speak of having "one nodule". In the Oprah interview she sorta skirted the issue by saying she never had cancer, "nodules" or anything. Notice the use of plurals and the omission of qualifying what she did have. So technically Julie was telling the truth and honouring any nondisclosure clauses all at the same time. There are a lot of people who are salivating at the mere thought of Mariah not being able to sing that would rejoice in her misery if what happened to Julie happened to her too. My point is, Mariah doesn't need to be pressured into risking her "saving grace". Even if it comes from a good place, we as fans have to be careful what we put out there. Mariah is just as susceptible to manipulation as anyone of us. We should choose to support her when she's down and not jump down her throat at every missed note.

What is happening? (47,323) by Marcus from Brazil
I don't mean to be negative, but is it just me? Are my ears messed up? What is happening with Mariah? She's removed some of the most difficult songs from the set-list, she's lipping some songs, but she's still not delivering. She's forgotten the lyrics to WBT in two venues now, also the lyrics for DE in Korea, disrupting the mood of the song switching to a mumbling out of place improvisation. There are rumors of people walking out of the concert in Korea. What is all this? When she was singing AIWFCIY and she was placing that decorative while snake on her neck, she pushed the microphone away it was evident she was lipping because her voice stayed the same. Not only fans but the GP are noticing these problems. God, please don't let her go down like that.

Mariah lip-syncing on tour (47,322) by ADAM from USA
I think it's unacceptable for Mariah to lip sync so many songs during her tour. She is a singer and if someone is paying for a ticket she has an obligation to actually sing her songs and songs press play from the same CDs we all have at home. It's fraudulent and if so should be noted before purchasing. It makes me upset because fans pay money to see her and she serves her fans back a subpar product. Some of you may say well her presence is enough, but I disagree. When you're doing a free show, fine you get what you pay for just be happy. But when you put on a false show and take advantage of fans devotion to your old catalog of hits that's wrong. Lastly, my feelings about her lip syncing songs were not that much of a problem in the past when it was done on just high notes or a song or two but now the amount of none singing she is doing is just wrong. She needs to continue to be called publicly and hopefully forced to confront why she is doing this practice.

This sounds so good especially around the halfway point of the video. Watch the entire video patiently, you won't be disappointed.

Nikki / talk shows, etc. (47,320) by May from Denmark
It's like you can read me telepathically lol. I thought exactly that before. I wondered how she might end up after this tour, in which condition overall, it seems that the breaks are little. She is either stuffed with humidifiers or she will take an incredible well deserved rest after this. I can't help but think that she might be taking this tour as a "therapy" moment, to just shake off all the drama that she was going in the US previously touring. If there is indeed a tour in the UK and those are truly the possible dates, it would explain why it's months apart. Might give her enough of a break to rest good. I also completely agree that now at days there are too many trash talks. Perez Hilton was possibly his number one "basher" years ago, when he started talking good about her I thought that he either got paid for that or that he truly changed from being a bully.

Just to clarify Baby (47,318) by May from Denmark
The source is Julia Andrews herself in an interview from 2010 she had with Oprah and another guest where she said that she did a surgery to correct tissues problems, she said she did not have nodules (along with a list of other things that in the 90s was rumored). It has never been truly clear what she actually had, as she doesn't really talk about that specific thing, only about the surgery and how it didn't turn as she was promised. In fact, in that same Barbara Walter's interview you mentioned, she said that she didn't want people to know about the whole deal, it only went public because her husband at the time made it so. In all honesty, I don't think she likes to talk about it at all, despite answering politely the exact same thing every time she gets asked that, you can see her sadness and frustration. I think there was a bit of miscommunication but I definitely don't make up any facts, I don't have the need to lie, if I'm mistaken or I put the foot in my mouth I admit it and come forward with an apology. I most often check anything if I'm in doubt before saying it out loud, though other times I go with my memory which might fail me some days haha. Edward, yes, I posted in that same comment previously that she might lose a whole range or some notes and could be the reason why she chose not to. I do enjoy very much her whistle register, "Bliss" got to be the sexiest song in her repertoire. Moving on.

Don't Explain in Seoul (47,317) by Simon Bitton from Sderot Hen 18\3 Netanya, Israel

You can see Mariah singing Don't Explain here. She dodged the belts. Those scats were interesting though.

Re: K-zee (47,316) by nikki from usa
How was the concert? All the reports are slamming her and claim most people were walking out. Is that true? I have yet to find any good reviews and she's on her third show. There's always critics, but usually there's a few highlights in there. What's most shocking is all these reviews are slamming her, but not one of them actually discussed anything that actually happened during the concert. When she came out with Charmbracelet we at least knew there was a circus theme. I only found one review that said her performance was better than Japan's, but still slammed it for not being up to par.

Again, about Seoul (47,315) by K-zee from Korea
I think a show every 2 days is an awful lot. But, she paced herself well through the show that I saw and there were breaks between some sections so I think she will be fine. I noticed she is much more confident and comfortable when really singing, and she doesn't seem to enjoy the largely mimed songs. She seems quite nervous during them. It makes me think that the miming parts are simply so her voice can be preserved and paced, rather than some sort of laziness or lack of care that the media portrays. I'm happy for it, as giving her voice a break this way means that she is really able to belt on the next song, while still keeping the show going. She was very aware of the lambs in the audience, but was also aware of the big casual crowd there to hear the hits. Someday I hope to see her just in a small theatre (dream) with only the lambs, as she seems much more relaxed and happy addressing us. Perhaps she doesn't feel so much judgement as from a more casual crowd. A funny moment was after My All (I think, memory is a bit hazy), she said "I hope that was ok for you". and we all clapped, but it made me think perhaps she was aware of the criticisms from Tokyo but also aware that she just kicked My All's ass. Her voice is so beautiful, I feel so happy and fulfilled. It's really a dream come true for me. Two 70 year old (!) fans got the park keeper to give me a giant concert flag, it's now my curtains.

AIWFCIY (47,314) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Wow that video just made me smile with my teeth out like an idiot. I really got very happy after this. This is exactly what I wanted from Mariah. This is something I wrote about a while back on this board. That we all know along with Mariah herself that she is no dancer, but still even slight movements make the song come alive. What Mariah did in this video was perfect. She just went ahead and did whatever she wants and didn't bother with choreography. Everything looked natural and fun. I also loved how she hugged the mic and ran across the stage interacting with the backup dancers. She wasn't trying to be sexy she just looked like she was having fun and flirting around. Keep it up Mariah.

Lip syncing to a live track (47,313) by Lee from UK
I just have to correct a misconception some of you have about lip syncing. I think B from USA said it in his/her last post. Mariah doesn't have to lip sync to the studio version of a song. In fact, she tends to do what I believe Beyoncé got in trouble for some years ago. She pre-records a live track and then lip syncs along to that. To me it's naughty and deceiving but it clearly fools other people.

Edward / tour (47,312) by Stacey from USA
I couldn't agree with you more in regards to your post to Andrew. You have to keep the name-calling out of it. And yet I'll also say, many here just need to chill and not take disagreements so dang personally. Folks need to lighten up. The drama is so unnecessary. I am glad to see MC doing better as her tour progresses. I was shocked watching videos of the opening night.

Yes, she sung Petals in Japan. There are Instagram videos of it. Sounds like a mime though.

Chile (47,310) by Alexis Morell Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan from USA
For whatever reason she sounds like she does on this tour or for whatever reason she is lipsynching, it's beyond my care at the moment. I'd like to request a set list of rarities. If she isn't gonna sing live at least "perform" the songs I want to hear like I Don't Wanny Cry, Sweetheart, Do You Think Of Me, I Still Believe, etc. I'd throw a few coins her way to see her drag queen Mariah Carey imitation.

Re: May (47,309) by nikki from usa
I have to say I was shocked when I saw MC was only giving herself 2 days between shows. During her Daydream tour she only sang one concert per week. If she's not feeling well as it is, this will slow the healing process down a bit and she'll need a few more so-so performances and lipsync vocal breaks before she's back to vocal form. Mark my words, once she is up to par, the press will immediately stop talking about her and just re run all the "bad" vocal performances. One of the major differences which most people overlook between the 90's and today is the promotion. Back in the 90's there were only so many major magazines, talk shows, and dj's. You could reach major audiences with every appearance and still have plenty of time for vocal rest in between. There was only VH1, MTV, and then BET for pure music. Now, we have the internet with 20,000 trash talking websites. Everyone and their brother has a talk show, so on and so forth. She doesn't have the vocal rest time she once had and I think she's over reaching. Only 2 days of vocal rest while she's also traveling from country to country during that time isn't sufficient rest for her instrument. If she needed a week in between when she was 26, I don't see 2 days at 44 doing her justice.

Mariah will rise (47,308) by Ty from USA
I'm constantly amazed how the public continues to hate on [...]. How quickly they forget the tears they shed for [...] and [...]. It was her first show and she was rusty. How does that show end her career? [...] The public should have more respect. [...] has been [...] for years but nothing is said. Mariah needs an image makeover, a public redo moment. When she did those MTV promo spots for E=MC2 she had the little band rocking Migrate. That look was sexy. A public makeover is maybe what the doctor ordered.

Work it Mariah (47,307) by Darryle from USA
Forgetting about her voice issues lets just take a moment to just appreciate the fact that Mariah is working the stage. She looks so much more comfortable and free on stage. She's dancing and laughing and playing around. It feels nice to see her so happy. Not only is she working the stage but she looks fabulous. She's killing me with the legs. I love the random shots of her with her hair blowing in her face.

This is a tour for the fans (47,306) by Darryle from USA
As some have said before this tour is for the fans. I think this tour is for the fans because for one this album didn't sell enough to have a huge promoted tour like Emancipation. Two if Mariah were trying to achieve a critically acclaimed tour she would have waited until her voice was in better condition. She probably just wants to get away from the stress of the divorce and media. And she turned to us to do that. The lambily has always been there when Mariah needed her. She singing live and not lipping because she's not to worried over her voice. She just wants to have a good time and connect with fans. It's so sad that some of us are so blinded by a few off key notes that we can't see that.

Mariah and Julie Andrews vocal nodules surgery (47,305) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Hi May, I'm not sure who your "source" is for your last post but clearly it wasn't Julie Andrews herself. The Internet's are full of faulty information, as Mariah fans I think we can appreciate all that. Julie Andrews did in fact have surgery in 1997 to remove vocal nodules and has since not sung a song. Not a note. If you don't want to take my word for it (you should always demand a credible source to people's claims) I suggest you take a look at this interview she did with Barbara Walters and hear her echo what I just wrote. You are entitled to your own opinions but not to your own facts. No hard feelings, I just needed to set the record straight.

I was wondering (47,304) by Andrew from UK
Hi Edward, I'm man enough to take criticism and to think on my actions. I'm not kissing ass, don't get me wrong. I just express frustration with sarcasm, dark humour, etc. like Stephen I do find it totally childish when ridiculous, untrue statements are made I guess. But I won't use someone to support my own arguments. I thought about it for the past day because I laughed in exasperation last time. At an online board. Then I questioned doing that. I will never get past how I feel as a fan and what I perceive to being "lamb"ness. I do not, for the last time, believe Mariah's fans not telling her the truth is right. It is, ostensibly, as bad as the people around her doing it. You know what I think. I get frustrated when there are endless posts telling her it's all good. I worry that the end is nigh. I'd personally rather she quit than go down in flames. I don't see an argument against it. Her vocals improved slightly. But the world is watching. What we covered up stands no chance of not coming out. So I put it to the people on this board, with sincerity, what should we all do? Do we go for it? Do we scream our opinion that it should be another way? Let's talk about what is best for Mariah now, for her legend, and for her future well being. And I'll drop the sarcasm. I hold my hand out.

May / to nodule or not to nodule (47,303) by Edward from USA
May, as you very well stated, technology and science have advanced a world since '97 when Julie Andrews went under the knife to correct a non-cancerous throat condition that didn't have anything to do with voice decline or nodules. Laser has substituted the knife with such precision that artists like Adele, Justin Timberlake, Steven Tyler, to name a few, have had their voices corrected successfully. Removing Mariah's nodules could improve her voice significantly or even bring it back, but such procedure would also take away with it her ability to use the whistle register. It is a big dilemma for Mariah when she would lose what has set her apart from Whitney, Celine and many others. She had the best of both worlds: a wonderful and powerful singing voice, and the ability to not only tap into the whistle register like many other artists like the late Minnie Riperton, Rachelle Ferrell and Chanice do/did, but also enunciate while on it. It would be a pretty difficult decision for Mariah to decide whether to nodule or not to nodule.

Nice movementsss (47,302) by May from Denmark

The sound recording is not the best as its obviously one of those phones that tones down the surrounding sounds to make close sounds be better but that's not what I actually care. I share this full recording of Mariah performing "All I want for Christmas" because she is so vivid. Look how much fun she is having, she is really uplifted, it truly makes me enjoy a lot seeing her perform this way. Watching the whole thing was really nice and it left me with a joyous feeling. I'm just waiting for someone to upload "Petals" and hopefully with good sounds.
