Attention mean girls: WTF? (50,392)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
So now I'm Regina George huh? Just put me in a burnbook and be done with it already. I'm not editing my post even if I could. For the record I'm not asking you or anyone else to magically not want Mariah showing up to every Tony, Oscar and Emmy award show. I'm simply stating that historically Mariah doesn't prioritise these shindigs. Unlike many of those red carpet staples she actually works, i.e. writes all her own songs, sings and produces them. Not to mention she is prepping for Vegas while knee deep in a draining divorce with a guy whose theme song is "Thirsty". But yeah, she should totally make an effort to get on the best dressed lists of tabloids instead of rehearsing, writing, taking care of her babies and herself. Also, if you only want certain posters to respond to your comments then please specify who. Not that this is an open forum and the email was invented when Music Box came out or anything. Stop trying to police intelligent thought and opinion. I don't know why you think Mariah Carey is suddenly gonnna become this other person. She's not about that life. I reiterate a point I already made in a previous post: If and when Mariah is recognised as an artist or part of a project she invariably shows up and shows out. The fact that Mariah has stayed relevant for 25 years without being a "red carpet darling" is a feat in and of itself. Who else can say that? My reading comprehension is legendary, I read fools on the daily and they don't even know it. (Wednesday 25 February 2015; 14:00)
Lee TS / My All (50,391)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
The song is definitely one of my favorites (which MC song isn't? lol) but no seriously it's one of the songs I listen to a lot. The song manages to combine desperation, longing and sensuality (probably due to the amazing Latin guitar beats) into one song. The lyrics are so descriptive and Mariah's vocals really bring out the desperation she feels to hang on to her lover. Basically a masterpiece. Nothing can describe the brilliance of this song. But yes the video was breath taking. Lol I chuckled at the part you wrote that she took it all off for the remix. While she still looked great in the remix and I love that hairstyle, I am not a fan of the video. However I do adore the remix version. It was great, the mash up was done so seamlessly, goes on to show how great MC is at remixes. Anyways back to the original video, I was reading the wiki page for it and in one part the director was talking about how the overturned boat scene reflected MC's vulnerability in the song (I guess because one wrong move and she'd end up in the water) but yeah I think that was a brilliant way to portray it. I think you described it best when you said that the video is art, because well that's what it is, a beautiful piece of art. I hope MC gets back with Brett Ratner, Paul Hunter, Diane Martel and Jake Nava for her future videos. Eventhough I didn't like the video for Boy, I'd like her to also work with Joseph Kahn because he did a great job with Taylor's "Blank space" video. (Wednesday 25 February 2015; 13:14)
Yes to My All (50,390)
by Lee TS from USA
Thanks for shouting out My All Mimi. Looking back at it, it was pure perfection. The song itself is a masterpiece, the lyrics, the music, everything. I really miss that from Mariah with her pretty melodies and descriptive writing. Now the video, you really have to give it to the director Herb Ritz. He really brought out the desperation of the song and like Mimi mentioned, her lying on the overturned boat was so beautiful. The video is definitely one of Mariah's best. It was more than just a video, it's art. She was so beautiful and sexy without being racy. Then she just took it all off for the remix lol. (Wednesday 25 February 2015; 12:20)

My All (50,388)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So I was just browsing through when I suddenly realized that it has been ages (really ages) since I last saw the video of My All. Which is weird because it's one of my most favorite MC tracks. Anyways so going through the video I realized that I had forgotten how hauntingly beautiful the video is. Everything about it is so simple but so gorgeous. The shots of Mariah on the over turned boat, her gorgeous hair, the simple black dress, the hot lighthouse dude (hello there) and most of all Mariah's expressions. She seems so lost and vulnerable while she's laying there singing about her love. The video is simple, not a lot of hoo haa and yet it manages to capture the meaning and essence of the song so perfectly. Plus the black and white really does add a whole new dimension to each of the shot. So just giving a shout out to the gorgeous video. (Wednesday 25 February 2015; 8:05)

I agree with you all. I just wish she'd attend these shows. I would love to see her in glamorous ensembles, walking the carpet like the queen that she is. I think she maintains such a low profile that people (except for her fans) just forgets about her and in this age where being seen is everything and when the phrase "out of sight, out of mind" is probably the most true, it's important to be seen out and about. She is so gorgeous, all eyes would be on her. Jaker, I get that she may not be invited to the Oscars for various reasons (the most important being, she didn't really have anything to do with movies in a while), I mean even Beyonce wasn't at the Oscars, but not even the Vanity Fair party? Almost everyone was there, starting from Paris Hilton to Beyonce. Then also what about the Met Ball? Celebrities use these opportunities to be seen and there is nothing wrong with it. I mean that's kind of comes with the package. (Wednesday 25 February 2015; 2:27)
Baby (50,386)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Stop being so mean all the time. Jaker was just answering a question. I raised and it's not only about why MC never shows up at award shows this year, it was a general question about why she hardly ever shows up at major award functions. I know she has kids and I know she is busy with rehearsals but that doesn't always mean she can never get out of her house. (Wednesday 25 February 2015; 2:18)
Re: Baby, and MC1989 (50,385)
by jaker20 from US
[censored] I am replying to the posters who suggest MC should be visible in these awards shows. Which is precisely the point, she can't be in these awards shows because she can't get herself any reason to go. She is not in any movies worth talking about, nor is she in a nominated soundtrack, nor is she willing to give a tribute to someone. I really think you should learn reading comprehension first before you throw any insults. And MC1989, that's also my point. The WYB oscar performance was ok, not great. How is Gaga able to do it, and not two of the greatest voices in history? It should have been a legendary performance by MC because it's her peak. It reminds me of 2006 Grammy's which she partially lipped one of the biggest performance of her career, supposedly her comeback year. MC often crumbles on big stages like these. Don't Forget About Us 2014 (50,384)

Mariah sounds great here. The performance was last year and is completely live. She even nails the whistle. She still has the voice. Thought I would share for those who have not seen this. [Webmaster: The video is not from last year, it's from January 2013.] (Wednesday 25 February 2015; 1:45)

by Warrior Butterfly from USA
I made a spliced of "Lillie's Blues (Can't Turn You Loose)" from the film, taking out the dialog between Billie and her mom. As far as I know it was never released. Wish it was though with Mariah doing her real voice. For those that may not be aware of, Mariah is the one singing the song, they just changed the pitch so she sound like a young girl. Enjoy fellow lambily. (Wednesday 25 February 2015; 0:56)
Award shows / Jaker20 (50,381)
by juan from Dubai
She can show up as a presenter for any musical number or perform as you said. Her nervousness/insecurities/concerns does kill her on live award shows, that's why the team (even most artists now) choose to have backing track to avoid any mistake. But lately the lip-syncing has always been a fail. (Wednesday 25 February 2015; 0:39)
Jaker20 at the Oscars (50,380)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Joker, you must be a joker. Why on Earth would Mariah go to the Oscars this year? I mean, she didn't even go to the Grammys or any other award show this season. She's laying low and working on her shit. I'd rather she focus on that than do the "who are you wearing?" schtick. Mariah isn't and will never be thirsty for gratuitous fame, she usually only shows up to support projects she is part of anyway. Plus she has toddlers, I'm sure they keep her busy. Vegas is only a May away, and her appearance on Empire before that will tide us over nicely I predict. This is the Elusive Chanteuse era, didn't you get the memo? (Wednesday 25 February 2015; 0:19)
When you believe performance etc. (50,379)
by MC1989 from Spain
I don't agree. When You Believe at the Oscars wasn't her best performance (the one they did in The Oprah Winfrey Show is much better, she slayed it), but it was very good. She looked great and maybe didn't sound loud but it's a memorable performance. Her high notes are delicious and her tone too. It's featured in the CD+DVD "Whitney Houston Live: Her Greatest Live Performances" (2014). I wonder when Sony is going to release a Mariah CD+DVD with her greatest performances on TV and awards shows, it would be a great way to celebrate and promote her 25 years in music. Awards (50,378)
by jaker20 from US
MC is not in awards shows like the Oscars because she's not really often invited. I mean, what is she going to do there? The last few years she's been trying to parlay her music career into movies but the best roles she's had are supporting. She's not really connected in the movie industry. JLo, as bad as you think she is, has been acting since the 90s. They maybe terrible movies, but she is a much more established actress with many hits under her belt, appeared in some classics like Selena and Out Sight and brought in money to movie studios. MC is not. The only way MC will be invited at the Oscars is if she is willing and capable to slay a performance like Gaga did. But her last Oscar performance with Whitney for When You Believe was not very well received, it was shaky and kind of all over the place. She looked like she was very nervous. TheVoice (50,377)
by Orkun from The Netherlands
I agree with you about writing new music but my message was meant at a deeper level. "Butterfly" is what you are referring to. But You can't refer to "Glitter" or "MIAMTEC", which were her down periods too. First, an artist needs to breath, eat and drink. She is a human first. During this time, her creativity will build up subconsciously. That's step two. She has to be in balance, not only to write good music, but to manage it too. Otherwise, no chance, in my opinion. I hope Mariah is writing and recording at the moment. Why? Because writing and recording is her creative outlet and it's cathartic. Butterfly anyone? (Tuesday 24 February 2015; 15:20)
The elusive celebrity (50,375)
by Lee TS from USA
Mariah is not the best celebrity in the sense she doesn't act very celebrity-like. It would be nice to see her going to award shows and parties looking dolled up etc, but that's not her. She rarely does red carpet and usually skips those to the award shows she attends. It's even rare to see her being an audience member in an award show. You ever hardly see paparazzi shots of her doing things. That's why the day of her walking the streets of NY with her nephew saying it was too hot to talk was so random. I remember someone posting calling her the recluse diva and I agree. But I guess in a way it's cool because she likes her privacy and I respect that. We only get our Mariah when she's on the promo campaign and Aspen. She's not thirsty for celebrity. (Tuesday 24 February 2015; 12:31)
Award shows / Mimi L. (50,374)
by juan from Dubai
She was never a regular party-goer, that's why she is called "the elusive". I bet because she is a very insecure being and concerned so much of how she looks like. She isn't a magazine cover favorite for of her weight changes and "rich sexy American momma-style". It's definitely because of the people around her. JLo, on the other hand, even if she flopped her album, she stayed on a very positive light, never said negative about people on interviews and exercised so much. I'm waiting patiently for Mimi to be at least cordial to her contemporaries, and not say "I dont know her" attitude. (Tuesday 24 February 2015; 10:38)
Mariah following fanpages on Facebook (50,373)
by MimiLamb from Germany
Well it happened and I still can't believe it. Mariah decided to follow fanpages on Facebook including ours, I love that she is really trying to connect with the fans again. She has been more active on Twitter as well, replying and retweeting Lambs but also other legends like Deniece Williams. (Tuesday 24 February 2015; 7:08)
Expanding: Oscars (50,363) by Warren (50,372)
by Warrior Butterfly from USA
I watched Lady Gaga's performance wow. I did not know she could sing likethat. I am a fan but not a Little Monster. In the past Mariah has done some tributes/covers. "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" for Patti Labelle though it was raspy, I liked her imperfect tone. Christina Aguilera's "A Song For You" with Herbie Hancock really got her reaching other fans outside her fan base and seen in a different mature light. God if Mariah went full voice and ditches the whisper for a American classic, such as something from the un-ending catalog of Irving Berlin. "Love You Didn't Do Right By Me", a personal favorite. I know people would be like holly whistle register Batman. She did "When Do the Bells Ring for Me" with Tony Bennett. However Lady Gaga was used as the headliner if you will. Mariah's airy voice was used through out most of the performance with a few belts floating in and out of the number. Endless someone a lamb, Tony fan or someone happen to listen to the album all the way through you wouldn't have known Mariah was even featured. (Tuesday 24 February 2015; 5:40)

How's my body? story (50,370)
by carlos from peru
I have read a lot of comments from some interviewers telling the same kind of story about waiting hours and hours for an interview and btw they add that she always comes with a glass of champagne lol and it's really bad because even when it comes about Mariah Carey, they are doing their job and they deserve respect. I don't know if it's Mariah's fault or her team. Karma exists and maybe all the last year mess was a "back to reality and be humble" message from media tired of Mariah's behavior to them and that's why they exposed and make fun of every little mistake from her. In the last years she's been projecting that arrogant image and we can read it on the web from people that are not her fan and don't know how she really is, so she needs to change that. MC's bad habit (50,368)
by Ardis Logic from Earth
It is unprofessional and inconsiderate to be late and keep people waiting. 5-10 minutes late, ok no big deal, but an hour, 2 hours, 5 hours or more is just straight up disrespectful. When I saw MC in concert she was more than 2 hours late. At least have enough respect for your fans to be on time. If you have to get ready earlier then do it. If you want the show to be later then schedule it as such. When you are being interviewed for a magazine or something like that at least be professional enough to meet the person at the time that is agreed upon. If that means 4 am then let then know that. If you don't want to do the interview, then don't agree to it at all. It's a personality flaw that I think she needs to work on. I'm really annoyed by the "diva" act. It really is starting to get old. (Tuesday 24 February 2015; 3:22)
