Oh. Em. Gee. (44,714) by Jay from USA
I don't understand why some people are in a tizzy about this Butterfly water/drink. It's obvious she is not using it to promote her music (other than placing the album on the table at the press confress). If she wanted to promote her music and new album, she would go on talk/radio shows and play music, or at least talk about it. I believe there is a bigger picture that we are all missing, mostly because none of us are in the industry. There has to be something behind the scenes at the record company. Maybe I am a bit naive but I believe the smear campaign that started in the Charmbracelet era is still going strong or reignited. It's not like she isn't putting herself out there. She still comes out in magazines (whether postive or not its still publicity), people are still talking about her. How many other artists from the 90's are people still talking about? The media talked about Whitney (RIP) but it was negative with her addiction and such. She is still getting her name out there. Let's just all come down and buy Butterfly, or don't buy it and move on with your life. I doubt she needs any more of your money if you don't want to spend it on her. She's doing just fine without it. I'll keep on supporting her because she keeps putting music that I like and enjoy.

Re selling out (44,713) by TR from USA
I won't say she's selling out, but MC is being a tad hypocritical. I distinctly remember her saying after Virgin dropped her that she'd never do anything for a "monetary moment" again, and that's not only what happened with Idol, I feel like it's whats going on with this "beverage" (or maybe not - nothing about this move makes sense to me). I, too, am not happy about the neglect (for whatever reason) of this album. She spent all this time "slow cooking" and going back into the studio for finishing touches, and doesn't even give us the lyrics? She did more promo pre-release on Instagram than she's done post-release. I'm not at all convinced that what's going on there is her fault. I lay the blame on Def Jam. And I need Jermaine to get off twitter with these open letters and write a frigging promo schedule. Do that. We need to see something pronto. Also, the dahlings and ultradivaness have been on my nerves since 2008. She's ostracizing whatever's left of her straight male fanbase. Like everybody else is saying, she's too unrelatable and is starting to walk the way of Michael Jackson with the regressed maturity. And it's just not as funny as she thinks it is. It's long past time to put that and "being insecure" to rest. Hire a writer to script you some scenes as a legendary talent and grown woman with 24-years of business savvy. We know how much you love to act. Lastly, I'm all the way on board with the #JusticeForMeIAmMariah hashtag movement.

Jermaine Dupri (44,712) by Ian James from Sabah, Malaysia
Jermaine Dupri has got to be one of the funniest men I've ever known. So what if he wants to go down as one of the greatest producers of all times? So what if he wants to be mentioned with the greats like Berry Gordy and Clive Davis when people talk about putting out artists? Is that supposed to explain everything?

Faded. I am so in love and obsessed with this song that I'm constantly repeating it. It just makes me feel so good when I hear it.

Re: Tiina and Nikki, "Selling Out" (44,709) by Isabelle from USA
I don't think that Mariah is selling out with these business ventures. For me, being a sell out is to stick their name on a product that already existed and taking a check out of it. She gets involved with the development of the product, she's not the Beyonce, JLo, Katy, etc. type of artist that you see selling out to corporate companies that get their money from letting them use their music as jingles for commercial, on television and movies or the artist themselves putting companies products on their music videos. The only song that I have heard that was used as a jingle was AIWFCIY, but isn't all of Christmas music used for that? Plus, you don't see Mariah's music being used on television or films because she doesn't want her music to be just known for those things, that's why Glee isn't able to sing an original Mariah song, so they have to go around it and do a cover of Mariah cover song. Mariah has done deals with some brand companies like Pepsi, Pinko and Jenny Craig, but she used Jenny to inform the public about Women's Heart Disease.

"Selling out" (44,707) by nikki from usa
Selling out is when you do something against your own grain for sheer profit. After 17 years of music Mariah decided to pick up a few hobbies that went hand and hand with her music career. It makes sense she'd want another creative outlet. The woman is a girly girl with 500 hours of beauty school, so you can't say things like perfume, makeup, and boots aren't interests. They aren't only interests, but things that go along with the music industry she's involved with anyway. Beauty is a part of that. You can't even say this "beverage" is selling out because the sole purpose is to get closer to the fans. She's being innovative and pioneering new ways to connect. If this was done for just money, it wouldn't be with a company that's not established, still up and coming, and only available to just 2 locations. Mariah's not selling out because everything comes back to her music and the fans. When MC starts endorsing a FIAT, ice cream, or Adidas then you can pick up your stones and throw.

PJW you are so right (44,706) by Anonymous from
Thank you so much for really understanding. People think that we say this because Mariah is in the struggle. No I've been feeling this way before this album, before all of this. The illuminati is more than just music, it's in every form of media and clothing and politics in everything. I'm proud of Mariah right now for not being part of that mess. The reason why the world will go down is because people won't open there eyes and see. And yes Michael Jackson talked about it all the time. Wake up guys. Think about it. Not only Mariah had issues but Michael Jackson too. He was not crazy. And Tommy Mattola was part of it to and the whole Sony thing.

Should I laugh or cry (44,703) by Carol from Spain
I don't know if I cry or laugh at your comments. From the webmaster, that is the perfect example of a fox in a lamb's skin, to you others sticking with him. Mariah is a music artist first, I agree. It took 5 years for this album to be complete. I agree. Not much promotion, I agree. Now, is it necessary to undermine evrything she ventures in? I mean, along with the drink, she's creating her own social network that can be used for promotion in the future. Are you all so concerned with numbers and chart positions you don't see anything else in front of your nose? It's pathetic. Not only you're calling Mariah a flop constantly, attacking her manager, her looks, her business ventures, you're not helping basically. The music is good, enjoy it and be thankful for it. And the part about condoms, why not ? Practice safe sex, it's always a good advice, especially these days. it would be cool I think. Besides, the time for focusing your money only on music is over a long long time ago, all artists risk businesses so, why should she be different? If this page is so concerned she is focusing on other things, different from music, why post all the news about those businesses. Be consistent with what you preach I guess.

Joe (44,702) by Edward from USA
Joe, in the middle of all this mess, we have to laugh a little. At this point most of us have expressed our frustrations about what's going on with Mariah and the promotion for this great body of work. I'm one of her remaining fans, but I'm not buying a pink bottled water, even it is brought to my door. I would say: Thank you, I'm not "Thirsty". Most likely by the time Mariah is in shape for the YDKWTD video, the album will be out of the Hot 200.

Samples (44,701) by PJW from The U.K.
Clueey, this is regarding one of your posts again. Lol. You spoke about Mariah using Eddie Kendrick's sample and it reminded me that one of the things I've really appreciated about Mariah's music over the years is her use of incredible samples and the music it's opened me up to that I might never have heard, aswell as always marvelling at how well (I think) they've been used. A lot of non fans don't agree but I've always appreciated and seen the beauty in both.

Lol moment (44,700) by Me. I am Carly from USA
Super cute moment today, when trying to send back the regular deluxe version of MIAM to Target, so I could get the correct Target version with the America The Beautiful track. I gave the UPS guy (he was in his twenties or thirties) the CD and he says to me "What you don't like Mariah?" Hilarious I had to explain that she has three versions and I simply was sent the wrong one.

YDKWTD, Meteorite, or MILG (44,699) by B from USA
Mariah, JD, and Island/Def Jam need to release one of those three songs to radio with a Clear Channel deal, a video, and line up performances/interviews on Fallon and/or Ellen. Shaking my head at this diva sized debacle. What is going on?

I'll tell you when she really was: at the end of the "Touch my body" video in the jeans and brown t-shirt. Phwoar.

Favorite song off the album? (44,694) by Dani from USA
Mine has got to be YDKWTD. Maybe I'm wrong here, but I feel it's very reminiscent of I Feel It and Sprung. There's a timelessness to the song and yet it's also very catchy. Thirsty is also growing on me, to be quite honest. I can almost picture a story behind it or even a music video. Maybe four different Mariah's surrounding a playboy type of character. One would appear consecutively with each refrain, "Uhhh, you're thirsty." Kind of the same effect that was on "Don't Stop (Funkin' 4 Jamaica)". Then a hologram of Rich Homie Quan above the playboy would pop up with the future-ish backing vocals. I can also see a slowmo close-up during the outro of the song with MC throwing champagne into the playboy's face. Oh man. Maybe I put a lot of thought into it. Hahahaha.

Stephen / the Butterfly beverage (44,693) by Edward from USA
Stephen, did you really think I bought the Butterfly Water? It seems to be my sarcasm is not coming across in some of my posts. I love Mariah's music, and I've had some of her tour stuff, but none of the other stuff like perfumes, waters, panties, and other nonsense. I am happy with the music on MIAMTEC, but very disappointed with the .essthis has been.

To hear what is really going on with this album behind the scenes, maybe she actually didn't finish tracks that she thought would be hits and knew it was the dropping ball she had to release something for us lambs and the public before she got bashed some more hahah. I mean you never know it could be re released part two lol, Me I Am Mariah Part II.

Betcha gon know / Cluey (44,690) by PJW from The U.K.
In response to your post about BGK: I agree on both your points. R. Kelly is a fantastic musician, lyricists and has a beautiful voice. Mariah is an RnB artist through and through and that's exactly the way I like her. My fav tracks are her RnB ones, whatever vocal spectacular she may pull on others. But him on this, I don't get it. As someone else said, his verses doesn't make sense to what she's talking about. There's no response as in on "How much" with Usher, instead his statement about a completely unrelated event. Then there's the poor copy and paste esque insertion of his vocals and the odd fact that she didn't remove the intro to the song referencing her last album or the "to be continued". Why not? In the same vein and referencing an old post of mine, I was disappointed to see they kept the drink pouring in "It's a wrap". Perhaps in that and "Thirsty" they're pouring Butterfly.

Response to Cluey (44,689) by PJW from The U.K.
For me, how Mariah behaves is taken so seriously because she takes herself so seriously and tries so hard. Nothing is natural, from the poses in photos to her directing a video of her walking across the street. Her music videos are 3 minutes of her trying to be as sexy as possible without realising that real sexiness isn't constructed, it just is. And, as I've said before, that all comes from deep insecurity and the need to be validated. What's sad about it is that in real life she's unbelievably beautiful and when just talking to you, she's natural, sweet, friendly and down to earth (at least on quite a few occasions that I've met her, the last one being in 06). But as soon as a camera is in her face her ego kicks in and she goes into pose mode all the while claiming she's "just being casual". Even if it's a joke - which it's not - it's not funny. There's no punch line. She has a concept of who she is publicly in her head and can't seem to break it down, more than likely because of people around her who are also on her payroll (Rachel, the BVlists, J.D. etc.) who seemingly go along with this joke/act. even her husband was a love blind fan beforehand, he made no point of hiding it. And so, to answer your question, it's taken seriously because she'll dress something up as "just walking across the street" when it's clear that's not what's happening, as opposed to Miley or Gaga making blatant publicity stunts and not hiding the fact that they are. It looks stupid.

Mariah's selling out / can't relate to her (44,688) by Tiina from Finland
Remember when Mariah said to Wendy Williams that she thinks that selling all this other crap along with the music was money-hungry (she was shading J.Lo then) and that she was more of a purist and preferred sticking to the music. I always loved that about her. It all started quite innocently when she released her first perfume. But after the 3 first ones, I lost a little respect for Mariah when the perfumes started coming out one after the other and you could see they were nothing special at all and it was all really tacky. She said that Elizabeth Arden, the company she works for to create these perfumes, said she's the hardest-working celebrity they've met, that she's been very involved creating her products yet she went on to say that she didn't name the Lollipop Bling perfume line, that it wasn't her idea and she was embarrassed about it. And then of course the HSN thing and the OPI nail polishes. I'm not saying that her lines were all tacky and basic (I bought her nail polish) but I was a little sad she ended up on this road. And now she's done what I was afraid of, she's began to neglect the music to promote her business ventures. It's so bizarre to think that Mariah Carey, this amazing artist extraordinaire, has actually come out with a sugary drink to sell. I think it speaks volumes about her losing touch with her fans and also losing touch with her artistry. She's become very unrelatable, not on a record but as a person. I love her but it's the truth.

Vines (44,684) by Mara from United States
Has anyone else seen the recent vines and pics Mariah has been posting lately? I am really starting to worry about her and feel like something else is going on right now. Not talking about the subway and taxi ones in the blue ball gown, but she just posted another one last night in a black ball gown posing at night in the streets of NYC. She was singing to a friend and pulling her and she even looked a little uncomfortable with how MC was acting. Did anyone see these? I just don't get a good vibe from any of this.
