Album details, finally (43,204)
by Angelo from Italy
| |
|
|
Now we have album details, finally. I really like the title, the cover, but I think I'll get a standard copy of the album because I don't understand 2 remixes from MOAIA (with no parts resung) and I have already TAOLG. And also I don't like deluxe edition cover. I'm curious about George Michael's cover, and I don't understand Stevie Wonder role on this album, where's he? And for the people who wondering about YM flop, well, when you release a single and you don't even promote it (just 1 single playback performance is not promotion) of course you flop. It's a rule. So now I hope she restarts the promotion from 0, and chooses a brand new single to promote next week.

One More Try (43,203)
by Elena from The Netherlands

I know everyone is talking about it probably being the George Michael version, but it could also be Timmy T. He had a hit with this song early 90's I believe. I love that song. I think Mariah could cover that beautifully.

Mariah's buzzing (43,202)
by Danny Braden from Uk
| |
|
|
Lots of buzz surrounding MC at the moment which is such a tonic. She has pulled out the stops at the moment and got on the promo train. First the album "surprise" the Billboard cover, UK mags , tweets, all the Internet gossip about when and if the album will come out, then the Wonderland mag and now the Times Square. Someone is whispering in her ear right now and if she carries on down this road the album will be a smash for the elusive chanteuse and she and the lambs deserve it, we all work hard for this thirsty.

Isabelle / missing songs (43,201)
by Will from Australia
| |

I know, where is Save The Day. Or Hope Street? I find it disappointing that these two songs that she talked up didn't make the album but songs from 2010 have, even if they sound different or whatever. The promo in Times Square was amazing btw, she's doing it right, new single please.

Deluxe edition or what? (43,200)
by Andrew crisostomo from Canada, niagara falls
| |
|
|
So excited for the album. but why with the deluxe? It's a wrap and Betcha gon know. Give me something new, and not just a remix. Memoirs of Imperfect Angel is in the past so let that go. And I bet she definitely has new songs that could be on the deluxe so right now I'm like why? But knowing me I probably still end up buying multiple copies.

UK pre-order available (43,199)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
It appeared on the iTunes store this morning. Both deluxe and standard editions. Weirdly though every track's length is six seconds apart from the singles and the closer. That would be so funny if I waited four years for six second songs lol. UK version is expected May 26 which makes sense as releases happen on Monday here as opposed to Tuesday in the States.

The Elusive Chanteuse (43,196)
by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
| |
|
|
The title "Me. I Am Mariah" is perfect And the explanation makes it even more meaningful. If it was just "I Am Mariah", people would accuse her of copying "I Am Sasha Fierce" and again that would annoy the hell out of me. Mariah looks gorge on the new album covers, if you don't want booby then just simply buy the deluxe edition, simple as pie. Those of you claiming you won't buy the album need to stop playing, that's now cute at all. I'm so excited, yes bring on the "Elusive Chanteuse". I love it hunny

Ariana comparisons (43,195)
by nOVA from USA
| |
|
|
Are so tired. Ariana's voice is great and she's totally cute and everything- but she's totally unlike Mariah. Mariah's voice has a buttery quality to it, her singing just transports the listener, particularly her earlier stuff. And she belts with a conviction borne of familiarity with struggle. The thing I've always loved about Mariah is she's far more interesting as an artist than these child actor Disney types. I just don't trust the talent of the star kids as much as I do those who sweated it out later. I respect the stars who've struggled to the top because it shows in MC's voice, lyrics, and music. You can't buy that.

Deluxe edition cover, Edward (43,193)
by Tarraga from New York City
| |
|
|
I love love love the deluxe edition cover. It has a sense of mystery about it. I am not bothered at all by Mariah's face not being centered as someone wrote in a previous message. I am not bothered either by the airbrushing. Mariah is beautiful no matter what. She is incredibly gorgeous in person. Edward, I am with you about possible new b-sides for the international releases. I agree with you that she has more surprises up her sleeves. I really hope that "Hope Street" and "Save The Day" are on them. The album title is great. I already pre-ordered both editions on iTunes and I will buy the physical copies on May 27th. We gotta take the Elusive Chanteuse (with a French accent, lol) back to #1.

Album cover (43,192)
by Alex from England

It's "funny" to see they've used the same picture for the deluxe edition as the one that was shown on a pre-order last summer. I am in love with the standard edition picture. I can't help but think of "Close My Eyes" (orange clouds roll by, sail away on an ocean) and "Underneath The Stars" looking at it. It is a superb fantasy-like picture (photoshopped to the max obviously) but I love it. I regret though that her nose on the deluxe pic looks like anyone else's nose but hers. Freaking excited anyway. Only Mariah gives me this feeling when they announce a new album.

Stacey / clean (43,190)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
Stacey, now I understand about the clean version. For a moment I thought Mariah hadn't bathed for the photo shoot or something. I was even looking under her armpits for lice and stuff. She looks so clean and beautiful that I was getting ready to go on a hunt for those I-want-a-clean-version fans. Since you have baby lambs in training, they deserve a clean version. I believe baby lambs are the future. If a clean version is not available, I have a beeper I'm not using. I'm happy to see you posting. There are many new members here popping from left and right. Sometimes I feel like they are taking over.

Curse of the cover art (43,189)
by nikki from usa
| |
|
|
This is actually beautiful and charismatic. Anyone else noticed the night sky and shooting stars at the top? That's so strange at sunset. Lol only Mariah. Gotta love her. A while ago I wrote a post about the common cover art of all MC's major sellers. She has to have her face at an angle, lips parted but not smiling, wisps of hair is okay but she can't have any part of her face completely obstructed from view. Somehow, even Daydream managed to comply by having shadows in black and white make their own angles even though she was looking straight on. It's uncanny. Any cover art that breaks these rules will sell less than 3 million. Emotions: face obstructed and smiling, 2 million sold. Rainbow: smiling 2.9 million. Glitter: smiling and angle too sharp, so there's face obstruction: gold. CB: No angle and hair obstructs entire upper right quadrant of face: 1.2 million. E=MC2: face obstruction: 1 million. Memoirs: 3 faces with 2 smiles, and 2 obstructions: not even gold. MC2Y: face obstruction with too much hair and smiling: almost gold. So far this latest effort also has face obstruction with too sharp of an angle in one and hair covering up her face in the other. If push comes to shove, I'd be ok with double platinum.

NYC promo (43,186)
by ACMRitz from United States
| |
|
|
To all the negative people who have criticized the "lack of promo", Mariah literally just invaded Times Square. It was a mob scene, as she interacted with fans and the center of the world was lit with images of her cover. Mariah is on a roll. She is going hard with the promo. Can't wait for what else is in store.

Flop? (43,185)
by Ryan from Canada
| |

|
Badr, YME was not a complete flop. She did just top the Billboard dance chart for her 17th #1. It's not a bad song really. The problem is that radio does not play new Mariah singles. They don't really give her a chance. They have pretty much counted her out.

Save the Day? (43,183)

What ever happened to the track "Save the Day"? That song was the song that I was most anticipating to hear. I wished she could have cut out YME and was able to place it on the album. I really want to know what other songs or other artist she might have recorded.

Time to release a hot, inspired new single (43,182)
by Badr from USA
| |
|
|
It's been almost three months since she released the now official flop, "You're Mine". If we think about it, "You're Mine" is one of her biggest flops, ever, due to the importance of the single and the poor sales. I'm hoping she'll release a brand-new, hot, mid-tempo single just in time for the new album. She needs to give the general audience a reason to purchase this album. I think the album artwork is outstanding, although perhaps too photoshoped. I'm guessing she was trying to create a sense of fantasy. The title is original, although I sometimes feel she tries too hard. I'm not complaining about either element, though.

Album title (43,181)
by Anonymous from

At first I was disappointed by the album title but seeing the drawing and hearing Mariah talk about its connection to the album title, I changed my mind about it. I love that she's including something so personal and authentic from the innocence of a child who hadn't yet experienced how cruel the world can be.

MC has two appearances next week, that I know of. The Today Show and David Letterman. I hope and pray she releases a new single before then so she can perform her new material. I don't want to see anymore of these medley's of older hits. New material only, please and thank you.

Edward / clean version (43,179)
by Stacey from USA

Haha Edward, you're such a funny guy, lol. I usually listen to music with kids in the car, so I can do without the f-word all over #Beautiful. Plus, I don't care for cussing in general either. I hope they do release a clean version like at Walmart. That's where I got Amy Winehouse clean version of her album Back To Black.

enwar00 / general thoughts (43,178)
by Marissa from USA
| |
|
|
I don't want to be accused of spreading "negativity" on this messageboard so I'll let you draw your own conclusions, but I'd be lying if I said my heart didn't skip a beat when info was finally revealed. I had a feeling something would be done in honor of her anniversary/dem babies bday but as the day went on I just gave up hope (I thought the album would actually be released, but hey) until I saw the info. I think the drawing is very cute. As far as the title, I wish it was simply "I Am Mariah". Even though it has some sentimental value, the title, "Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse" is long and awkward in my opinion, but it would definitely accurately describe her during this era.
