Iconic performance (89,142)
by Andrew from London UK

Mariah cannot deliver a powerhouse vocal anymore and she doesn't dance or even move much. So she will have to do a medley. I suggest this:
1. Spotlight. "Looking In" first and second verse. "The real me..." fades into drum beats for: 2. "Emotions" chorus, no intro. High note is cut off by: 3. "Yo New York in the house" and first verse and chorus of Fantasy. "Not sleepen" cuts off to: 4. "Gimme your love"s from the Heartbreaker JV remix for the second verse finishing on the "break my heart" fade to silence and black: 5 . Drum beat. "I came to have a party." Pause. Rest of verse and chorus of ILT. Cuts to: 6. "Obsessed" verse and chorus. Cuts to: 7. "A No No" verse and chorus. Fade out to silence 8. Last verse of "Looking In". "It seems as though I've always been..."
Off the top of my head that would be awesome and have meaning and would flow with fast pace. She needs an avalanche of dancers with amazing choreography and a lighting display and pyrotechnics worth a small fortune.
Please the Lord, no Hero, no WBT, no VOL. Just dance tracks to make people party and remind them of her.

So true, "Fantasy" changed everything. I hope she does a great medley of the songs that everyone know plus one new or a remix.
That J.Lo got this award before Mariah is a shame. I also think the Millenium Award was given by the World Music Awards.

Horrible promotion for BBMA (89,139)
by automatic_prince from Germany

First of all I'm super happy for Mariah. That being said, I really hate the way they choose to promote it. When I saw her insta story I cringed so hard. They ask, "What makes a legend?" Why do they always have to emphasize how much she sold in the 90's? This really makes her look like a has been. I'm my opinion she deserves this award but not because of how much she's sold. In my opinion they should have put more emphasis on how she's helped shape modern pop music. Her style of singing, introducing rappers to pop songs etc. But well... her team just doesn't get it.

No to Migrate, lol. Songs she should sing would be Always Be My Baby. Another must would be the Fantasy remix. That song single handedly changed the face of music. That song alone makes her an icon.

Icon award (89,136)
by Nikki from usa

"Prestigious"? The fact they debuted the award by giving it to Jennifer Lopez invalidates it altogether. She's had the least amount of success on the Billboard charts. They should've given it to Aretha Franklin as a debut while she was still alive. At the very least, Christina Aguilera should've received it before Lopez. I'm not sure what something as vague as "icon" is supposed to represent at this point.

Medley performance (89,132)
by Dove from United States
| |

If she's getting a 15 minute medley performance slot:
Migrate Obsessed Thirsty Say Something (if it's worth your while do something good to me) Last Night A DJ Saved My Life Dreamlover Heartbreaker Fantasy Honey Emotions (12" Club Mix intro) Giving Me Life Outside
She did Vision of Love last time she performed on BMA and Butterfly is her favorite (and arguably her best) album that's why there are two songs from BF on this list. If I had to remove one I'd remove Honey. I don't want to see the songs we always see her perform. I think we'd all like something fun, upbeat, and new mixed in with some number ones for the locals.
Side note: Giving Me Life should be the new single. They can make a video from her NY performance mixed with fun video from the tour.
I'd like to see her wear pants so she can move around and dance. Maybe crystal encrusted pants or a jumpsuit with a butterfly buckle belt. Or those yellow glittery Balenciaga boots Michelle Obama wore on her book tour - but pink.
I hate to say this but the pink Giambattista Vallidress Jennifer Lopez wore to the Second Act premier would have looked so good on Mariah. That shade of pink looks great on MC. Her legs would be on full display and her chest would be covered so it's a little modest but the top is still fitted. I just hope she wears some amazing ensembles to this.

BBMA style (89,129)

What are the chances of Mimi having a stylist like Patricia Field, Adam Selman, or Marni Senofonte? I mean, maybe a couture Zac Posen? On a scale of 1 to Migrate is her next single? Per chance to dream.

I think Billboard wanted to award an actual musical icon this year after the backlash they received for giving the award to JLo.

At least it's before... (89,124)
by Matty from Vancouver Canada
| |
|

It's so odd that JLo got BBIA before MC. Although I guess culturally her impact has been massive. Her and Bey seem to be the most beloved general cultural icons almost in history. However, at least she's getting this award now which will be used, I'm sure, to promote "Caution" (like JLo did with AKA, being promoted in 2014). At least Mimi is receiving her award before Madonna, Sting, Britney Spears, Paul McCartney (hello Beatles, 21 #1s on Billboard), Diana Ross, U2, Jay-Z, Eminem, to name a few.

I agree with your choices for the E=MC2 era. All of these songs were very radio friendly and it definitely would have broken the mold of always releasing the uptempo/mid tempo/ ballad formula. I think that formula would have been a great success.
