TMB, followed by Migrate, followed by I'll Be Lovin' u Long Time (just Mimi, no T.I) and finally I'm That Chick (with a cameo from MJ in the video, playing with the Off The Wall sample) would have been great. All up-beat, no ballads; would have given her a totally fresh approach and reflected the vibe of the album perfectly. The album could have been marketed as a total celebration of life and being on top of the world. I absolutely love the "I Stay In Love" video and ahhhh those ISIL remixes changed workout-life, but the standard version is absolutely the first WBT wanna cousin. Part of the problem with "Bye Bye" was the video. How did we go from an epic cinematic master piece like TMB to the Bye Bye Video? At least the "I Stay In Love" was theater and had that unforgettable car explosion. I love For The Record. I just wouldn't have seen it getting much radio play.

This performance will be a medley of her greatest hits and probably one new song if anything she would probably do the album version of ANN if she decides to perform it.

For me there is no debate at all, my friend Mariah has been overlooked one too many times for prestigious awards that she is more than deserving of. My comment regarding flaws is based on how she is treated for just being herself.

Icon Award, Oakdale show, ABMB remix (89,113)
by Brad from USA

Hey fellow lambs. I am so happy MC seems to be in a good place to receive this award. Few things gave me greater joy than picking up Billboard magazine every Friday afternoon at my university's library, back in the day, and seeing MC atop all the various charts and to see those bullets next to her singles and albums gave me chills. I probably have pages I ripped out of those magazines in my MC vault somewhere.
The Oakdale show last week was fantastic, I could write a lot. I will spare you except to say two things: (1) I do wish the pace of the show could have been slowed to sip, for a bit longer, the fine wine that was MC's powerful performance of songs like Never Too Far, Love Takes Time and AYNAF (I'm always saddened to see the show end), and (2) MC sang the Mr.Dupri Remix ft. Xscape of ABMB and said "y'all don't know this". Oh but Mariah, how we know every last word of that remix that gave us life in the spring of 1996 as we studied for our law school exams in our dorm room outside Philly. We may not know a lot of wannabees but we know that song honey, oh yes we do. Be well to yourselves and others and may God bless.

I don't. She's performing a medley of her #1's which she'll probably end with A No No.

Could be her last chance to revive "A No No" with a good performance. Do you think she'll bring both Shawni and Stefflon Don to perform with her?

Wow. "Deserved despite her flaws" is a little harsh. I know you're saying she deserves it but that just sounded like you had to debate it in your head first if she deserved it or not (especially considering some of the past recipients). Anyway, I'm glad she is finally getting it.

Single choices by the label are a mystery not just for Mariah but for most artists. To those of you who know Tori Amos, her first single in the UK was a track called Me and a Gun, a harrowing acapella account of her rape. Needless to say after a few weeks of no airplay a much more radio friendly song was chosen to launch the album.

Bye Bye was meant to be the next One Sweet Day with its universal theme. E=MC2's blessing and curse was the fact that mostly anything on it could've been a single. The critics hailed it as an album that played as if it was a greatest hits. I guess they had so many options that they ended up picking what they thought would connect with the audience, but following an old tired formula instead of what the people were feeling at the moment. Coming from the high of TEOM, E=MC2 showed a Mariah singing with confidence, without straining or anything to prove, she was actually feeling herself in the studio, like literally, lol. I loved I Stay In Love from the first listen, but it was definitely the first attempt a recreating We Belong Together. Weirdly enough was the fact that everybody talked about most of the songs on the album, but they never mentioned I Stay In Love, not even Mariah's people. I didn't surprise me though that it was released as a single.

Do you really think that Caution will sell 15,000 each month the next 5 years? It's not the way it works. For each day that goes, the sales will drop. I do like the album, and I do like a good joke. Thank you.

I think the same. "Migrate", "For the record" and even "Side effects" would have been way better as single choices. I wonder why a management isn't able to hear what songs are radio friendly and have a chance of being a hit.

I love the idea of Migrate having been the second single, however, if they were going with the usual formula why select "Bye bye"? They had a song such as "For the record" that was begging to be a single and a huge hit in my opinion. That song has an infectious hook, beat and bassline. She also sang in a very great tone. That song had all ingredients of a hit that we could even sing along to. What do you guys think? "I stay in love" was good but it was generic. "Last kiss", "Love story" and "Bye bye" were all filler ballads. This album was about the more upbeat side of Mariah. I even think if she wanted to go deep she could have chosen "Side effects" and joined it with an amazing descriptive video. That would have been epic and unexpected.

Agreed. She's already talked openly about how 2014-2017 were the hardest couple of years she's been through so she might as reveal everything so that she can control of the narrative not Stella and company.

Eric, please don't be sarcastic, last time you did that, B took a 3-hour break from the board. We almost die thinking he would be gone for a whole day. On a serious note: Caution is a great album, I actually can listen to it from beginning to end without skipping a track, a thing I can't say about TEOM, which is is far superior, but with some fillers. I just wish she had pushed herself vocally at least on a couple of tracks. I hope she doesn't wait another 4 years for another album.

What exactly don't you get? Caution in five months has basically sold what MIAM has sold in almost five years. In 22 years, Butterfly has sold 3,807,000 copies in the USA (according to Wikipedia). That's only 14,420 copies per month. Caution has sold 18,600 copies per month. So Caution is doing way better than Butterfly. What does Butterfly's sales have to do with my original message? I'm a glass-half-full person, an optimist. I will always look for the positive in every situation. I'm been called delusional and bat shit crazy because of my optimism and guess what I don't care what anyone thinks of me.
