The reason Brenda K Starr is shady to Mariah is that Tommy ruined her career because she looked to alot like Mariah and Columbia didn't want anything to to ruin Mariah's chances. Career perspective (85,659) by Edouard from France I believe Mariah's energy and voice are very connected. I totally understand as I'm a singer too. It's very hard to sing when your energy is low. Mariah wears so many hats and we have to give her credits for that. Singer, songwriter, mother, entrepreneur, global icon. That's a lot of pressure. Also, I believe a lot of bad choices were made by her previous management team. They didn't offer her real perspective and that must be hard to sing when you feel that your career is going nowhere, specially when your whole life has already gravitated towards achieving things. Mariah's always been driven and that's what has kept her alive ever since she was a little girl. That's why we connect with her so much, because we all have had difficulties to overcome. I believe that with the release of Caution, Mariah's on fire. And it shows. And we can hear it. (Tuesday 6 November 2018; 11:28)

Re: Blue Caution album cover (85,653) (85,657) by Bill from the UK Yep totally the wrong choice. The alternative cover is brilliant. I can't quite believe the Avatar/In the Zone cover is going to be timecapsuled like Butterfly, Music Box, Merry Christmas etc. I mean an album cover is forever and part of her legacy for generations after she has left this world. The Voice Mariah should have been the Idol Mariah (85,656) by jaker20 from US On The Voice she's nurturing and has so much wisdom and seem genuinely care about the contestants. I really like all the advise she gave. Maybe it's the environment of The Voice. In just two episodes I've seen the real Mariah and I like what I saw, as opposed to a full season of Mariah on Idol which I didn't like so much because it was mostly drama and not a lot of humanity. But it still doesn't change the fact that Mariah could probably still make life choice changes to improve her voice (put the wine down Mariah), especially when we are working and forking over money to see her actually sing. Bad health, no sleep, drinking, emotional exhaustion, broken heart, fear, all kinds of bad emotions, stage fright, hormonal issues are a biggie (I have heard of her having thyroid problems which can ruin your voice bigtime), bad vocal technique, overusing your voice. Yes you can put bipolar on the list. I think her voice has been affected by everything in her life - even one of those things on the list can change your voice completely. Mariah's life has been a mess since she was born. It's a miracle she is as successful as she is, and also her longevity is incredible. Let's just give it a rest and let her deal with it. That being said, I am sticking with my opinion that she has been sounding the best she has in a long time in Asia, and that makes me very happy. And if that annoys anyone, I am sorry (not). To be honest, her singing was always somewhat strained from the beginning. it's just that now it has taken it's toll on the instrument. I had not listened to her CDs for a year some time ago and I popped in some early nineties recordings and my throat closed up because of the strain in her voice. (Monday 5 November 2018; 22:09)

But I don't think they were. It seems like her voice is stuck in that single pitch and tone. She no longer has the airy, agile and breathy medium/lows. At least in 97-2005 she still had it. Re: New interview: Anthony Burrell on Mariah: meds (85,632) (85,642) by May from Denmark I believe Mariah was either having issues with the type of meds she was getting or she wasn't taking them at all. She was also drinking a fair amount. It would explain her behavior with Packer, looking clueless at time, disoriented and anxious. It might explain that advertisement clip of Mariah's World where she looks exhausted and cries, she looked very down at times and might have had some episode, Mariah crying and the whole exhaustion segment was cut from the show and they didn't air it. I believe Stella didn't know how to handle her, or was taking advantage of her, she went on a huge spending vacation and all included Stella and her clan. Remember when she sang Honey on tv and she hardly could move after coming down the helicopter, she was energiless and even seemed like not being there. I have a fair amount of friends bipolar type I and II and the meds and moods affect immensely and all of them react in different ways. I think that other than the Glitter era, Stella made Mariah's circumstances too obvious by exposing her too much. Maybe that has always been the reason why Mariah private and personal life was always so hidden or controlled when it came to the way she was presented to the public and her interviews. With You is climbing the R&B charts and Adult Contemporary charts. It's at #17 on the Adult Contemporary chart, #16 on the Adult R&B Songs chart, and #16 on the Hot R&B Songs chart. Biannual appreciation post for Triumphant (85,638) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter This is my 50th post (slightly exaggerated) to show my love and appreciation for Triumphant. Every time I go back and listen to that song, I love it and get chills. Triumphant remains one of Mariah's best songs, y'all can fight me over this. Honest to Lord if this isn't the modern hip hop thug life version of "Hero", I don't know what is (controversial line right there, I know). But seriously though this song is amazing. I know it flopped because it was a "lead turned buzz single" of a Mariah album after a long time and featured Mariah as only a hook/chorus girl, but it's still an amazing song.
