Andrew, Drew baby. Please don't be tryin' to be our MCA Grinch who stole our Christmas here. We are all in unison and the world is loving the redemption of Mimi. The courage she showed getting up there, knowing it was make or break was everything. She literally owes us nothing and already redeemed herself with how flawless the end of 2017 has become. Not saying it was, but even if the climax was lipped, did it matter? My teeth were shattering being in the cold to get into a car, let alone try and sing in weather that was single digits record breaking (second lowest NYE temp) and wind chill well below zero, all that and look beautiful doing it. Gotta give credit where credit is due and she deserves a hell of a lot of credit. Amazing how in every photo posted by the media, she looks flawless in every single one. That is a testament to her beauty. On a side note, I wonder if we will hear from Tommy? I'm sure she wanted to prove to him even though she already has, but I'm sure part of her wanted to send him a message too that she is better than last year. She has done it.

The Hero climax was not live. Anybody who calls themselves a fan would be able to tell that. But yet again the propaganda machine is out in full force to try to convince everybody of the falsehòod to make Mariah look good and themselves feel better. That is to say, if you're pushing that line youre simply a liar and need to ask baby Jesus for forgiveness. And probably grow up a little bit. Other than that she did well.

Great post Mara. I feel the same way, too. Gorgeous Mariah, excellent performance. And can we talk about finally singing the climax of "Hero" live again? Hallelujah.

It's cute that she's nervous on VOL (80,218)

It shows that she really does care for fans. She really tries. And that's more than I can ask for. Also, it's incredible that 27 years into her career and she's still headlining such a big event. She slayed Hero, once she got comfortable. So proud of her.

First off, can we appreciate the beauty that is Mariah Carey? Wow, she looked incredible. Her hair was amazing and she was glowing. This woman is 47 years old and literally looks in her early 30's. Also, wasn't it me or did she come on a little earlier than the 11:45 spot? I missed her introduction as I stepped away from the TV for a moment and boom I hear "treated me kind". I think the dryness def comes along with the frigid temp. VOL wasn't perfect, and her nerves were in full gear with that one in particular. I sensed how nervous she was when addressing the crowd about the tea. Hero, OK Mariah, you certainly shut all of us up. She knew what she should perform and Hero is one that in recent years I totally feel she sings to herself anymore, despite writing it with someone else in mind singing it. Her eyes were welling up at the end of it and she knew she did it. I am so proud of her and love how she chose to go back up there and end the year with closure especially after how it started. She is literally the strongest women I know and how amazing of a role model is she for Monroe and Roc for that matter, how you get back up and face your fears, get back up and try again. If Mariah can do it in front of millions of people across the world, we can do it for ourselves. God, I love this woman. And watching some of the instagram videos posted by her team, you can totally sense the elation on all of them since you know who is gone and how genuinely happy the mood really is. I loved seeing her with the kids and yes, Bryan too while NY was being played on TV. They totally looked amazed. I really hope we are in for an amazing year, we have all come a long way as a lamibly since last NYE.

Congratulations Eric on keeping the most recognized Mariah fan site going and for your hard work and decication for 20 years. Keeping news updated, monitoring daily messages, adding appearances, new music what have you. It takes dedication. Back when it was all new, there was MC Archives and Mariah Daily. You have outlived and surpassed Mariah Daily. Cheers to 20 more.

NYE performance (80,215)
by John from USA

Relieved it went well. In this live performance, Mariah still had shades of her early 90s tone in some of her belts and runs, which gives me hope that if she takes it seriously, and starts taking care of her voice and value it more instead of her love for the bubbly, we may see another "Emancipation" album. As for her diva antics being the first internet meme of 2018, I say better be associated with tea than alcohol. Everyone: send Mimi some tea.

I actually feel the performance went very well. I know that there are fans that get fed up with excuses. I get it. The truth like it or not is that performing amidst wheather conditions can influence the quality of the vocals. In addition to Mariah needing to take care of her voice. Was the performance without a few human moments? No it wasn't. She's human not a machine and she's put her instrument to use for over 25 years. As Licia said, what makes a difference is when it's clear she's genuinely putting her heart into it. For me that's what matters more than a "perfect" vocal. I could have done without the quip about the tea, simply because a lot of people don't understand her humor, and it gives people reason to focus on a "tea" comment rather than the underlying message of the performance. However, I love her, I'm proud of her effort, and I wish her an absolutely wonderful year.

Well said, Licia. I won't add anything further except to say ditto and thanks to Eric too. Ok I'll add one thing, lol. When I first started collecting her CDs, etc. I stumbled upon this website and the discography was really helpful in finding authentic stuff and not spending money on fakes, etc. Happy 20th.

What's next for Mariah? (80,210)

What do you think is next for Mariah? I know there's an Australian tour coming up. Last I heard we were meant to get an album by the end of 2017, according to the press release back in April, when she resigned with Sony. I'd love for her to have a huge undeniable hit.

NYE (80,209)
by Lee from UK

She tried her best and that's all that matters. Although she sang Hero well, I still think it was the wrong song choice. I also think VoL was the wrong song choice too as she never seems to get it quite right live. She looked stunning and I wondered whether the choice to wear a very similar ensemble to last year was deliberate. The scripted tea joke didn't land as well as it could have but it has produced the first meme of 2018 so I'm not mad about it. Here's hoping Mariah takes a little break and comes back with a new album with strong promotion.

VOL was shaky. Hero was great. Mariah looked painfully nervous with a smile. Performance was 100% live which I give Mariah mad respect because it was freezing outside. Overall it was good enough. May have been a bit more festive if an up tempo song was performed. I don't wanna sound too negative but it would be nice if Mariah can loose the "diva" act sometimes. It was cold as hell outside and she performs in a gown? Come on Mimi loosen up girl. I wasn't mad at the snowbear fake mink but why not wear a pair pants with some killer boots or something? Yes, overall the performance was good but straight up it killed my buzz.

Both songs fit the night's theme of unity. Finding faith and overcoming obstacles. She sang live, even the Hero climax she always lypsyncs, and she was engaging, funny, and self depreciating. Watching the performances a second time showed how she played it safe during VOL to be able to hit the big notes in Hero and I think did an excellent job. I'm a proud Lamb this morning. Happy New Year, Lambily.
