Re: Memoirs (66,705) (66,731)

Mimi L. I love Up Out My Face and the reprise, hahah. Both are so fun. The Mariah and Nicki moments were so cute and animated. Their "BFFness" didn't last long and turned into the "Idol fiasco", which is doubly sad. Imperfect was such an imperfect song though, maybe if they had polished it up with a nice guitar, vs. the weak keyboards I remember it having. I was just watching the old interview where Mariah discussed the writing on Memoirs. The interviewer asked her about Betcha Gon' Know and she said it was just based on note snippets and not on any particular person and she said she had some very mean co-writers with active imaginations, to paraphrase. I think we got a lot of The Dream's personality and type of petty on that project, lol. Memoirs might have been a sort of ramshackle pre-Lemonade of unfactual, facts and what nots.

Oh well, people can just use that meet and greet money to pay for the holidays or whatever their other priorities are. Maybe folks will find out what happened on Mariah's World. That may, or may not make for intriguing TV.

Literally all his posts clearly show how much Mariah loves him. Literally she calls him out every single show. I'm looking at the facts as we speak. You just sound bitter and jealous. It's actually disgusting how you could project all this hate on him, he is beautiful and nice. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. Clearly you just have an issue with jealously or something. If you go to his page, you could see how much love Mariah has for this kid. If she was a bit scared of him why would she bend down and sing to him? Why would she shout his name out and where he's from at every single show? It's clear to see at his page. But the negativity and hate you are projecting just seems like you're jealous. That's what it looks like.

Lies. All counts from those there say he is a certified lunatic. After his episode now all meet and greets are cancelled. He's a certified stalker. Everyone at the meet and greet was on instagram saying Mariah's team said "We don't want you here, we tolerate you and you're revoked from any other meet and greets."

Actually I know the guy and I know a lot of other lambs that are just being bullies toward him because they clearly are jealous of him. Mariah asked him to make the doll when he went to Amsterdam with his 2 little friends. Stella asked him to make them sweatshirts. He worked really hard to pay for his meet and greets and the doll that Mariah wanted. He brought another doll to Amsterdam and she fell in love with it but he didn't give it to her. Mariah posted him on her ig and everything. Mariah really loves him and shouts him out all the time. There's another lamb from China who has been to more meet and greets and more times to Vegas than that superfan. I think that anyone that has anything bad to say about it or him should ask him yourself. He's super sweet and I seen first hand how much Mariah loves him. There's no reason to spread unnecessary rumors about him. There is no proof this kid is so cute and so love able. Mariah clearly loves him and I think everyone is just hating and jealous because Mariah loves him. They should take a moment and just reach out to him and he will tell what is going on.

Re: Rare Mariah voicemail has resurfaced (66,718) (66,721)

I remember it. At that time Mariah was leaving voice-messages a lot. From 99 untill Glitter was released, then it stopped. She was talking to her fans almost like to friends. It was so cool. I think I read something like the management stopped it, after a weird voice message. Mariah sounded sad and exhausted in that one. [Webmaster: If you search for "voice message" on this website, you will find the transcripts of dozens of voice messages, from 1999 to 2014.]

Article: Mariah Carey arrives in Bodrum during secluded holiday (66,719)
by Andrew from UK
| |
|
|
Mariah's breasts now require their own postcode. It's not attractive. I recently watched a UK documentary on Mariah and a commentator said the following, which came to mind: "Her video image was perceived as a move of desperation, a move of cynical calculation, that her core audience - her most loyal audience - became embarrassed about for her." Their attitude was: "You've come this far without having to, essentially, prostitute yourself visually. No-one ever really asked to see your breasts or to see, you know, the bottom part of your behind or any of these things you seem bounded to show us in these videos now. So, why do it?"

Rare Mariah voicemail has resurfaced (66,718)
by Martyn from England, UK
| |
|
|
Guys, there's a rare Mariah voicemail from 1999 that has resurfaced. It's one that was taken down after 10 minutes apparently, but 'Lambtivity' on Facebook has uploaded it as he saved it at the time. He's asked people not to share it, so all you need to do is to go on Facebook and search for "Lambtivity" and it's on his page. It makes me weep for the Mariah that used to have such a close connection with her fans, where did she go? Sidenote: there's a 3 and a half hour long megamix on his page too that's absolutely incredible - it's the same guy who makes the TMC megamixes.

I've had tears to this song, too. "And you never got to see how good I've done, you never got to see me back at number one" makes me well-up every time. But then there are other lyrics which ruin the song: "With the teddy bear you gave me that I held so tight" probably single-handedly prevented this song from having universal application. And her trying to ghetto it up for "[her] people". Cruise Control is the best thing on the album and should have been released as the second single. "Can't nobody, can't nobody tell me nuttin' when he comes into view..." is genius. I play it whenever I need to smile. "2008, watch it."

These rumors have been swirling for a while now, but what evidence does anyone have that this actually happened? Let's just say I think the guy is um, "unique" for going to damn near every Vegas meet and greet that Mariah's ever had and essentially paying her consistently so he can feel like they are real friends, but I think his well-publicized "uniqueness" makes him a target for rumors like this even if there's no proof that anything actually happened. When an extremely reliable source can confirm this, then I'll believe it because it isn't fair for someone to get accused of something that no one can prove.

I was online, because I was bored, and there was an opinion ranking Music Box as her best album ever. It wasn't based on sales. I almost threw up. Butterfly was ranked #2 and TEOM was ranked #3. To me Music Box is a great album but belongs below the heavy artillery. For me, and not to start a list war, best to worse to me is Butterfly, Daydream, Music Box, Rainbow, Mariah Carey, Emotions, Merry Christmas, Unplugged, E=MC2, MOIA, Glitter, TEOM, Charmbracelet, MIAMTEC, MCIIYOU

Mariah's meet and greet disaster (66,709)
by Sheila from United States
| |
|

[...] like Instagram page: Mariahdoingthings made a meme about the stalker lamb who caused [...] yo cancel all her meet and greets because he went postal backstage over a [...] he made. Not only is he 6 foot 3 and creepy but he does not believe he has done anything wrong. If they tell you backstage that she is scared of you and they don't like you then maybe you should go get a life or a man or a hobby. Other lambs wanted to meet [...] and he has ruined it by being a stalker and weird. I wanted to go to [...] for the meet and greet and like countless other lambs he ruined it. Go to instagram to see the comments.

I also saw single potential in Bye Bye, I just didn't like the time it was released. They were going for a ballad for the second single because the tempo change would make the song more distinguishable and because that formula worked really well for TEOM. But back then it just made better sense to follow TMB up with Migrate, especially since T-Pain was quite big at the time and the ostentatious use of autotune was trendy. She was also coaching at Idol that time and could have promoted it there to a much better impact. There's no telling whether a song will become a hit or not, but that would have been a stronger statement and would have made a bigger impact. Bye Bye would have done better in the fall/winter, as a follow-up to two or three successful preceding singles.

Music Box (66,707)

Face it this is the most MOR-sounding Mariah album (at least Charmbracelet had a bit more spice), which is great for sales but not for critics. It's a great album that is weighed down mostly by the ballads towards the end but is ultimately saved by its strong singles (Dreamlover, Hero, AYNAF, NFY and Without You are simply essential). Just To Hold You Once Again and All I've Ever Wanted are basically interchangeable, so thank God for I've Been Thinking About You coming between the two. I'd rather they ditched either of those two in favor of Everything Fades Away which will make a good album closer. But since EFA was demoted to bonus track status, I wish they just put the title track at the end instead. It would have made more sense, at least to me, and would have concluded the album on a more hopeful note.

I never had an issue with Bye Bye either. When I first listened to E=MC2 I thought it would be a single as it seemed to be the baby that One Sweet Day and We Beling Together would make, and being her two biggest songs it was surprising it didn't chart higher. It was the first song of Mariah's that actually moved me to tears ("I wish that we could spend the holidays together" just struck a chord with me).

I love UUOMF though. It's such a fun and empowering song. I could have lived without the useless reprise though and I would have liked "Skydiving" to replace that. I would also have liked for "Imperfect" to stay on the album. I probably wouldn't replace any other song because I love all the songs on "Memoirs".

Re: Why streaming matters (66,699) (66,704)
by 123 from USA

|
I don't think anyone doesn't agree that streaming isn't important. Streaming makes up for 25% of the chart position. That's why everyone has been up in arms about Mariah taking forever to release a video after a new single is launched. All that being said, the Empire song is a side project, which Mariah's team may not have complete control over the launch, video, and promo. Plus, why are we even discussing chart positions, steaming etc and the song hasn't even come out yet? Can we just enjoy new music? None of the Empire songs have really taken off so can we just enjoy it for what it is and if it take off, yay, if not, she's working on a new album and the right time will come for a proper single release.
