She does have a lot of timeless songs, that is really true, although I could not read which songs you mentioned but I do have a list of my own I guess. But I don't think I can ever get bored of HB. It's such a fun song. I love "Fantasy" too but for me I think it is a very 90's song. I mean it still sounds fresh and awesome but I think people will get a 90's throwback moment since it has 90's written all over it. I also love the Fantasy remixes, but for me, I think HB is more timeless. I think she could have released HB in any year (be it the 90s or even now) and it would still not sound dated. It's just such a fun sing along song. I love everything about it, the vocals, the chorus, the beat. I think it's not a fan favorite since I don't see many people list it as their "top favorite song from MC", but it definitely is in my top 3.

It appears the recent press Mariah is receiving is helping with her popularity. Yesterday, on Global iTunes Artist Ranking, she jumped from #197 to #157. Today, she jumped another 25 spots and is currently at #132. Mariah is getting some .

To me it's a song that got old before 2001 (except the remix on the album). Fantasy is still up to date. I never get tired of that song. The remixes got a cool beat. Other songs that's still nice and (to me) up to date are: Hero, [...], [...], [...], [...] and a couple more. So much good music. [Webmaster: Is it really so hard to start song titles with capitals or put them between quotes? So next time write Last Night A DJ Saved My Life or "Last night a DJ saved my life".]

Fifth Harmony performing Like Mariah in live set on The Today Show (55,184)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End

So it's the third song aside from Bo$$ and Worth It featured on their Today Show Summer Concert Series appearance this morning. Hopefully it's the entire Mariah medley but it's not a single yet. Worth It is still their biggest hit on the charts, in sales and radio. But it certainly bodes wrekin for the future that Like Mariah won out of the 3 song choices the Harmonizer fandom was allowed to pick for this specific performance. I'm super excited and proud of those girls because apart from being very talented singers and extremely hard workers, they have great stage presences and are so personable in interviews, down to earth, funny and entertaining, sweet and great friends to each other IRL. They have just the right amount of ego to achieve longevity in the industry. They've been in the business for 3 years now and you never see or hear about them being disrespectful to their peers, fans, handlers, journalists, hosts etc. That's pretty amazing considering they are 5 tweens on camera and all the mainstream social media outlets, as well as the most obscure ones, almost every waking hour interacting with whomever every single day. Harmonizer rant over and good luck to Ally, Camila, Dinah, Lauren and Normani. Here's the link to the live stream at 07:00 EST, hopefully this post will be uploaded by then.

Yeah it is kind of bad for us to bring her up. But it's only because if this is the career path she chooses, we wish her the best of luck and hope she achieves longevity. *flips hair* Lol no but let's hope diva-in-training-wheels doesn't start dating an actor after the rappers and backup dancers, so very JLo. Sorry couldn't help myself. Stop making me a shady lamb Mariah. I wonder though, do we know if Mariah likes donuts? There was the bagel/ice tea a day combo, Christmas linguini in white clam sauce, and her comfort food Mac-n-cheese.

Flat out doesn't get the credit it deserves. Not sure what else she could have offered up to be honest. It baffles me when I hear people say stuff like "Oh it was just to finish her contract with IDJ" or "her vocals aren't good enough". Really? Lol I think there are several tracks that are very radio friendly. Mariah isn't the only artist that isn't getting airplay.

She's a classic example of one of those people who let get fame into their head way too fast and too early in their career. She was very likable during her Yours Truly days. Then her sophomore album came out and she suddenly became this entitled wannabe who from first sight you just knew an inner mean girl was lurking under that perfect Mariah-aping exterior. This does not bode well for her. You just don't publicly express hate of America on its birthday. No matter how jokingly you say it, there is just no way it will not be taken negatively, even borderline terroristic. Oh well, another wannabe down (they never seem to learn, do they?), next please.

I hope to God that these marriage rumors are false. I cannot stand to watch her make another rushed decision like she did with Nick. I don't care how in love Packer and Mariah are, you need extensive time to learn who a person truly is. Charisma hooks you, but a person's character is what you have to live with. Character only reveals itself after time and when a person is put in challenging situations. Ain't nothing challenging or character-revealing about cruising the Mediterranean when times are good. Pump your brakes Packeriah. There's still much more you both need to learn about each other.

I've been following the story ever since she got exposed and it's salacious. I secretly hope it takes her down and it would be sweet if we can get a mugshot out of it ala Justin Bieber. I do like her and her music but she's just a dumb immature brat. Can't be all that surprising since her big brother Frankie is just as nasty of a human being. You can tell how entitled she is with the bogus apology of hers not owning up to any responsibility. She's so undeserving of the "diva rumors" because a true diva exudes class, she's simply a bitch. Pretty girl though. Anyways, I'm glad we wouldn't have to deal with this type of nonsense with Mariah. Did you guys see the pic of her sending Roc and Roe to school? How adorable is that. Imagine the teacher asking the little kiddies what they've been doing for summer. I'm sure Dembabies have many magical adventures to share haha. One more thing, I hope Tori Kelly can stay humble and true to her music. Because the little popstars coming out of that camp tend to be jerks and bitches. Mariah may be shady at times but she's the real deal honey, a diva with sass and class.

What she did was plain stupid. What makes the situation even more stupid is that she didn't have enough sense to realize that the people in the donut place were setting her up. Any regular person that would have licked or spit on the food would have been arrested. They let her act a fool because they were going to make money off her stupidity. She deserves all the backlash she's getting. She was wrong about saying she hates America, but I'm more concerned with her being nasty and licking food that was supposed to be sold. Her age should not even be a factor in this. She's old enough to know better.

Like Mariah (55,175)

So Fifth Harmony chose "Like Mariah" as their next single after holding a poll. The title is trending on twitter and people are basically hating on it but hey whatever, it's a cute song and I'll obviously support any promo that brings up Mariah's influence. I hope they have a remix with Mariah. I am excited to see how they promote it.

The ushers at the Coliseum were very strict. They were on top of people taking pictures insisting no flash be used and that no videos be taken. I would love some professional videos of the show. It was amazing, Mariah not only sang beautifully but she looked beautiful as well. She looked amazing even in the unflattering pink ensembles.

Oh, that didn't cross my mind, since the rumors about the documentary surfaced before Ratner shot the video. Plus didn't we see a B Roll clip with the "Highlights" of her Vegas performance? I was thinking they were shooting it for a documentary or DVD of the tour. Oh well, I hope there is one though. I would also love to see a professionally shot video of her entire Vegas show since the fan recorded ones are not clear for obvious reasons.

Promotions and Mariah (55,166)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
I know a lot of times when Mariah's songs flop and then we divide into groups, with one complaining how the song flopped due to lack of promotions and the other saying that promotions don't do much for aging stars citing Madonna and JLo, but I honestly think Mariah's case is different. First of all Mariah has the voice, secondly Mariah is one of the greatest songwriters of our time. Madonna (while I heard some other tracks on her album are good) and JLo are choosing a path that makes them look a little desperate and that makes people criticize their age a little more. Like since the songs are a little immature, people will bring in the "she is too old for this" argument. Had Madonna chosen a more mature sexy song instead of BIAM, and backed it up with a good promo set, her song would have been a moderate hit at the very least. JLo's whole album (latest one) was full of crappy songs and it didn't help her that she released "Booty" because no one wants to hear about a 45 year old going on a loop about how desirable her big ass is. So her promo fell flat too, although I should add that her songs did chart higher than MC's, but overall sales were low. But for MC, promo can actually help her a lot because from her side she can provide the mature great songs and the great vocals and if promoted properly MC can actually beat this myth about aging stars. Look at #Beautiful, even though it got little promo but it was aired on American Idol and it shot straight into the top 20s. I think Mariah has great potential to get more hits if she is promoted right and if she makes the right single choices.

I remember those rumors. I just assumed the author confused the Infinity video shoot with a documentary. I assumed it was a worker at Caesars Palace that saw Ratner and his crew filming Mariah and thought she was filming a documentary.

I agree with you on the Ariana thing. What she did was bad and she deserved the backlash she got. Although I don't think BBs' stupid article will suddenly change people's negative opinion about her behavior, it was a pretty pathetic attempt by her team. The girl uses her age excuse differently every time to suit her liking. Example, when people call her out for her over sexual image the "oh she is a woman now not a child" excuse comes forth. When she is licking other people's food and yelling about the land she lives in, she is "young, she didn't understand". She quickly apologized for the "America" comment because she knew that it offended a lot of people, plus unfortunately for her it was also 4th of July, but she didn't bother apologizing her tongue on food other people might eat. Like if you and I would lick that donut and it was caught on camera, it would be turned into a major deal. She deserved the backlash, she shouldn't be spared just because she is 22, when Justin Bieber's actions are heavily criticized (which he deserves too). The way she just said "I hate Americans and America" makes you wonder about the rumors of her saying "I hope they all die" about her fans. The comment was quite uncalled for. Anyways moving on to your other post, apparently there is a documentary in the making. Remember rumors about it surface a while back. It's supposedly named "A Butterfly in Vegas" and it's for HBO.

Age and getting hits (55,161)
by Luke from United Kingdom
| |
|
|
Although I do agree it's harder for an artist to get hits as they get older I don't think it's impossible. Artists younger than Mariah are struggling even at their age which is sad, but I do believe if any older artist is going to gain another hit it will be Mariah. I can listen to various songs by Janet or Madonna and although a lot are good, not many touch me like so many of Mariah's songs do. The thing is, if you write a song and produce it well it can become a hit. Look at We Belong Together, they released that at a point in her career where so many people pushed her aside and considered her finished. That song stayed number 1 for 14 weeks because it face slapped people in the feels. When that happens people will buy regardless of your age. I might be getting my hopes up and she might not be ontop again but I do think if anyone can do it, it's her. Infinity isn't her most personal song but more of a safe option to edge her back into the game. I think she has something planned that's going to go along with the Game Of War ads. I was thinking it would be cool if she went down a war drum-esque sound since those types of games are so popular and shows like Game Of Thrones. Florence & The Machine's new album is a great example of that kinda sound with the use of trumpets (How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful). I think it would sounds fresh, especially for Mariah.

Billboard published an article defending Ms. Grande and it is another example of ageism and bias. Defending an "artist" after she is caught licking doughnuts and saying she hates America because of her age is ridiculous. She isn't a child, she's twenty two years old.
