Sales (46,146)
by Otti from Belgium
| |
|

When they state more than 200 million albums sold, than is it because Mariah Carey albums sold every second, you know. When they state 250 million than it is more specific. Remember in 2005, when TEOM did well on the charts, her back catalogue start to sell even more. Ex Mariah Carey the greatest hits and the remixes begun to sell even more than when they were released. Even more every year around Christmas time, her Merry (2) Christmas albums and single AIWFC start to sell again. So it's no lie that she is one of the best selling female artist ever. With timeless classics songs and albums under her belt, fans or not fans still buy her older music.

Lol I think hell would have to freeze over for Mariah to accept the ice bucket challenge but it would be fun to be proved wrong.

Did anyone nominate her yet? It would be fun. I think it's highly unlikely that she will do it but if she does, I will be pleasantly surprised. Mariah does surprise once in a while, like the way she wore a long gown in the pool or when she wore the yellow outfit during AI and wore it while swimming in the ocean. I would love it if she takes the challenge.

Hi Manny, it's just her murmuring the lyrics to the song, and noting them down. The tapping is just the sound the iPhone makes when the keys are hit. So, it's like you're hearing her creative process and coming up with the lyrics/noting down the lyrics on her pad of paper/iPhone before we go into the song. If you listen real carefully, you'll hear she does the same to "You're Mine" (album version).

My dream set list (46,137)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
I know there are a lot of songs here but she can lip some of them. Concert tickets are expensive and we should get our money's worth. There are a lot of medleys to fit more songs. 01. End of Time intro (first verse and chorus) 02. Meteorite/There's Got to Be a Way medley 03. 100%/Hero/Can't Take that Away medley 04. Migrate/Get Your Number/I Didn't Mean to Turn You On medley 05. #Beautiful/Touch My Body/Your Girl medley 06. Make It Look Good/Ribbon/Bliss mashup 07. Loverboy/All My Life 08. Dreamlover/Honey/Fantasy medley 09. Dedicated/Candy Bling/Money ($*?...) medley 10. Betcha Gon Know/Heartbreaker (HB starts out slow and sad) medley 11. You Don't Know What to Do/It's a Wrap/Faded medley 12. You're Mine (Eternal)/And You Don't Remember/We Belong Together medley 13. I Still Believe (Imagination Remix/The Roof mashup or medley 14. Thirsty/Obsessed 15. Side Effects/The Art of Letting Go/I Wish You Well medley 16. Bye Bye/One Sweet Day/Never Forget You medley 17. Reflections/Camouflage medley 18. Looking In/Outside medley 19. Languishing/I Want to Know What Love Is (extended with live band) 20. Rainbow Interlude 21. Heavenly/Fly Like a Bird medley 22. I Am Free/My Saving Grace medley 23. Supernatural/So Blessed medley 24. We Are the Champions cover (with live band) 01. (Encore) Oh Santa/All I Want for Christmas Medleys can sound choppy and bad but they can also be arranged for a seamless transition. Maybe she can get the guy who mixed The Beatles Love for Cirque du Soleil to mix her medleys and Julie Taylor can do visuals for the big screens.

Mariah's wedding ring (46,136)
by LC from USA
| |
|
|
Also, I know that everybody has been questioning why Mariah doesn't wear her wedding/engagement ring anymore and only her butterfly ring. First of all, Mariah has been keeping her wedding ring on no matter what. It's only her engagement ring that has gone missing. But this isn't recent. If you look at her pictures, she's been wearing only her wedding ring/butterfly ring as early as February during the promotion of You're Mine. But if we try to think even deeper, did you notice that Mariah always wore her butterfly ring on her right hand, while keeping her left hand reserved for her wedding/engagement rings? But, what happened to her right arm/hand last year? Nerve damage. Which is why she always wears a glove there, on that hand. Maybe because the butterfly is her signature, she just can't get rid of it and decided that since she can't wear a ring on her right hand (maybe it still hurts, I don't know), she would just replace her engagement ring with the butterfly ring. But she has still kept her wedding ring on, no matter what. Again, that's just my two cents. Does anyone else think the same?

LC / skip (46,135)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
LC, there was such a backlash when Nick mentioned Kim Kardashian that it could be logical that he realised this isn't how a husband should conduct himself and therefore removed his social media accounts and toned down his interviews. Entirely plausible and what I hope has happened as I would be heartbroken for Mariah and her children if they split up. Skip, I completely agree. She has done some great remixes on Island/Def Jam and it'd be a treat to have an album released to compliment The Remixes which Sony put out.

Nikki / Mariah and Nick again (46,134)
by LC from USA
| |
|
|
Thanks Nikki. I really was just trying to think it through. I think it's obvious that Mariah doesn't like that Nick is so outspoken. Even before all these rumors of divorce, she'd been saying that she thinks Nick talks too much. Then when asked about it, she'd play it off like she didn't care. She'd say things like "it's not like I'm really bothered or anything, he can do what he wants", when we all knew she wanted to be more private. What if she has given Nick some kind of ultimatum, like if he can't shut up, there will be a divorce. Because I remember when he was on Power 106 a couple of months ago, he said to the host, "If my marriage doesn't work out, it'll be because of the things I've said on this show." So maybe, by avoiding questions about his love life, which he has never ever done before, he's trying to prove to Mariah that he can and will be more private. But that's just my two cents.

Re-release? (46,132)
by Otti from Belgium
| |
|
|
I think it's the rarest era ever, since I can remember. But then she is touring Asia with this album. What means she did not give up on this project lately. So why not, when she got everything on point, re-release this album with a few new tracks and remixes? And promoted like it's all new. With interviews, talkshows, performances. Maybe with a new coverart for the album. And tell us her story, so people and her fans understand what went wrong behind the scene. It's Mariah, the voice, the talent, the beauty. She got everything to stay relevant. Many singers out there have the sexiness but lack of talent.

This is my perfect setlist for the upcoming tour, please leave a comment and post your ideas about it. I choose a 13 set, because I love when Mimi sings live and a short setlist is perfect for that. 1. You don't know what to do (with an extendend rap intro) 2. It's like that 3. Heartbreaker (original) 4. Cry 5. You're mine 6. Beautiful 7. Supernatural 8. Make it look good 9. Always be my baby 10. Obsessed 11. Touch my body 12. We belong together 13. The art of letting go

New tour and new album (46,130)
by Angelo from Italy
| |
|
|
I would like if Mariah would release a new studio album this fall, maybe November, with a new label and the tour promoting both Chanteuse and this new project. I mean, I am sure Mimi has at least 10 brand new songs already recorded, so why not, maybe with a brand new video out on September for YDKWTD and promoting both projects. It would be a great surprise and a great career twist.

Why not an album of new Mariah dance remixes? (46,128)
by Skip from United States
| |
|
|
I wanna preface this by saying I love Mariah when she's in her R&B zone and I love when she's belting her ballads. But I have to look at where she's had her greatest success lately, which is the dance charts. The fact that "You're Mine" and "Triumphant" both went to #1 on the Dance/Club Play chart and barely registered on any other American chart makes me wish she'd cater to the audience who clearly is still most wanting to listen to her. This happens to many of the classic "divas" as their career progresses (Whitney, Madonna, Donna Summer, etc.). As their mainstream success lessened, their dance chart success maintained or even increased. And then I see artists such as LeAnn Rimes and Amy Grant who are releasing remix albums of their past hits this month and think, "Why isn't Mariah doing that?" We've never gotten modern dance mixes of her classic hits. And songs like "Love Takes Time" or "One Sweet Day" would be blasting in clubs if they were remixed today, especially "for the nostalgia". Mariah doesn't have to live the EDM world full-time, we already know she isn't that into it. But a remix album, maybe with a brand new dance track thrown in for a single, might be a good way to jump start the pulse of her career right now. Yay/nay?

Mariah and Nick extended (46,127)
by nikki from usa
| |
|
|
Those are very good points, LC. There might be something to that. Nick was on Hot 97 and Power 106 last month and said he and MC were "fine" and he "just left the house" when asked if they were separated. Last week he was on Jimmy Fallon Live and didn't say anything about MC directly. He mentioned, "*we* don't like the kids watching TV. It's Frozen 24/7 in my house." On Mariah's instagram site she has a picture of a book with her hand on it. Her butterfly ring is where her engagement ring should be, but she is still wearing her wedding band. It was weird because they're usually gaga over each other's projects, and haven't been in awhile. Although, to be fair, Mariah isn't really talking about her own either. But, I'm sure that silence will be over pretty soon.

Faded, tour (46,126)
by Manny from U.S.
| |
|
|
When I listen to the beginning of Faded, I still wonder what she whispers, what the first noise is, and if the second noise is Morris code for something. Am I the only crazy one who keeps dwelling over this? Any ideas? I find it ironic that Mariah promoted MIAMTEC mostly in the US and she has not announced any American dates. Unless she promoted it in some other form elsewhere that I'm not aware of. I do have to say that I read a Mariah blog of a fan from the Phillipines. He said that he had helped with the promotion of the record with other fans. I haven't heard of any fans doing this in the US. Is it because the foreign fans know the record company will not do it as much and the fans resort to that? I just wonder if Mariah notices how certain fans go out of their way to help her out, instead of criticizing her 24/7 on a messageboard. I even wonder if she has a fake profile here and defends herself incognito. It'll be funny if she does.

Mariah and Nick (46,125)
by LC from USA
| |
|
|
I know that a lot of people are saying that Mariah and Nick might be getting a divorce because of Nick's absence from social media and his lack of comments about his and Mariah's relationship recently. But, does anybody else think that maybe Nick is keeping quiet and doing all these things to fix the marriage? I mean, in most of Mariah's recent interviews (namely, The Breakfast Club), whenever asked about him, she has been saying that Nick says too much and that she'd like their relationship to be more private. And recently, in interviews, Nick has been talking strictly business and entertainment, avoiding conversations about Mariah and his family. Does anybody else think this might be the case?

Thank you for the kind words, you're far too kind. I think Camouflage is one or the many tender moments on the album. I actually like the background vocals/layerings. To me they are representative of the many thoughts that are likely to be going through your head at the point at which you are feeling the emotions of the song. There's no clarity in your mind, yet the most heartfelt sorrow is the one that rises to the fore, being the overall theme of the song. I'm glad you are discovering the full breadth of the album, it's good to know other lambs are appreciative of such a wonderful body of work.

Webmaster / press release (46,123)
by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
| |
|
|
I get what Eric meant with his original posts. I guess we just have to take these press releases with a pinch of salt. It's not Mariah's doing, and it's definitely the industry standard to exaggerate. Everyone else does it. I suspect the webmaster's concern is that if non fans pick up on it, such are the extent of exaggerations, that it will lead to further ridicule of Mariah. I'm definitely not mad at Mariah for it though, it's not her doing. I think the webmaster has made his point clearly enough though, and perhaps people should lay off of him.

The problem is Mariah's "fans" are over her, don't have her back, and have lost respect for her. It's really disheartening to see her "followers" constantly bash her everyday on here with the " " comments about her supposed inflated album sales, and the derogatory comments about her current album sales. I mean first off we don't know they exact numbers for her albums sales from the past, so why are we acting so irritated about the projections. Better yet even if they have been inflated, why blame Mariah for other people inflating her sales, she can't always control what folks imbellish about her be good or bad, so like knock it off. Her current album is masterful, and it's a shame people didn't support it, they indeed did let her down by buying into the negative hype and not remembering what she really means to them. Yes this is my opinion and I am making a statement of it.

So, I don't reply a lot here, I just read along. But let's clear something up: Mariah's PR always states over 200 million records, not albums. So that includes singles. That's all I had to add. [Webmaster: Maybe that's what they mean, but it is not what they write. "She has sold over 200 million albums" and "more than 220 million albums sold to date".]

I laughed, I got it. The thing that sucks about text is there's no infliction for sarcasm or anything else. Everything is taken at face value. Although, where PR is concerned I wouldn't worry about it. Over the past few years, that's become a staple in the business. I noticed with Shakira's release they mentioned a bunch of "hit" singles that weren't even released here. Same with Rihanna and even Eminem. It's not just them either. There's been a great deal of inflation for just about everyone and all the PR systems do it. Out of all of them, Mariah's actually the closest to real numbers. Originally, MC's website had specified "world" tour. I had assumed "Memoirs" was small and this meant she'd be hitting a lot of continents on this one.
