Carly (44,658) by THE TRUTH from USA
Carly, that's sweet that you want to believe she is deliberately trashing her career and brand so that she can relaunch her career from scratch without the interference or oversight of record company moguls but let's be serious, nobody in their right mind deliberately ruins their brand so they can start over. You build your brand so that you can exploit it, marketing 101 and everybody knows it. Let's enjoy the music we have from her and be honest with ourselves; recognize that something has been terribly wrong since 2001 and it continues to get worse.

Lol (44,657) by Jamie from UK
Everyone and everything is getting blamed for this album flopping, even Nick Cannon and the illuminati. What's next, Nicki Minaj and Eminem have joined forces to sabotage her career with voodoo?

Illuminati (44,656) by Gilbert from USA
See, my past pos mentioned the "Illuminati" before. I believe this shit does exist and I hope that the webmaster doesn't bleep out that word because that is exactly what it is. It's scary to see but eyes have to be opened that this in fact exist. If you don't join you will not make it in that industry. This is why at this isn't a big issue for me that she isn't on top, I rather see her alive and well and able to make music for the fans than to see her coming out with her eye covered and sporting those symbols. Again it's just me and things I've observed.

#18 in US (44,655) by David from Spain
The new album is #18 in US. A big big big flop. This album is fantastic but it's died.

Illuminati mess (44,654) by Anonymous from
You want to know another reason why this has to be illuminati? How in the world is here sales so low? Why no single? What is JD's struggle with the music business? Why is she selling worse than an up and coming artist? That is part of the illuminati. I know I may sound crazy to you all but this is clearly the answer. Mariah may dress a little too less for you all but it has nothing to do with the album sales because the public love raunchy and nasty at its best. If you turn on the tv and watch all the best sellers like Milly Cirus and Rhianna and clown looking Lady Gaga. So until Mariah joins the circus act and sells her soul and stops putting Bible scriptures in her music we can forget about her selling anything.

Reason for low advertising (44,653) by Anonymous from
After reading what JD said you can tell it's that illuminati mess. No one knows this album is out. If I didn't come here and search for her I wouldn't know either. But see sorry people like Rhianna can dress in a sheer naked dress and be considered as normal while Mariah gets dissed for boobs. Guys it's the illuminati. These sales are unbelievable. This is her best album. Better than Beyonce's. Hopefully the beygency doesn't get me.

Is it possible? (44,651) by Me. I am Carly from USA
Is it possible that Mariah Carey has determined in meetings that she needs x amount of money to start her own label, and take absolute control and reign of her career i.e. literally be CEO of her own company, and this is why she needs money? I know, she has so much money but she must know that it is a gamble. What kind of revenue does it take to go completely solo successfully? I don't think she is focused on the album so much as building her own Oprah Esc empire. Again she hates record company malarkey and likes control and does most the work herself. I am not saying this is the best route but she is in her mid forties thinking long term. If that is the case I can see an argument of why not just promote the album and make tons of money, well maybe these days you don't make tons of money because you owe the record company and in addition people are not buying, look at how week the sales are for the new hot acts.
I think all these false starts are highly related to the second Emancipation of Mimi and what if she is right, what if working for a bunch of old controlling guys is not the best thing for the future of music? Again trying to recreate the wheel might not be a great option for her right now, I would hope she could hold off a bit or be willing to focus on this album while accepting that she still has a company and public to serve. Time will tell.

Jermaine Dupri (44,650) by THE TRUTH from USA
Most everything that bares saying at this time has been said except of course where it regards JD. How incredibly embarrassing that this egomaniac would write that letter on twitter or wherever he posted it. What is he, a twelve year old? Bad enough that he has ridden the "Mariah Train" to the bank and produced a giant flop for her but to then go and have a tantrum online is just incredible. After having Super Managers the likes of Sandy Galen, Benny Medina, Irving Azoff, and yes... Tommy Mottola, hiring JD is well, what can I say other than, crazy.

Album flop (44,649) by Andrew from UK
I agree with the webmaster and several other comments on here. This album should have been ready and released at the same time as #Beautiful. The song was relatively popular, it even made Radio 1's play list here in the UK, which is unheard of for Mariah these days. The entire handling of this project has been a joke, and Mariah has been the punch line. The album needed a decent hit single with a strong video. Not the crap video we had to endure with YME. I think Mariah's rambling interviews and general odd behaviour is not helping the situation. As a long time lamb I'll always buy her music, I always have and always will. Fans are critical because they care, the media, on the other hand, do not.

Me... I am John. A highly embarrassed Mariah fan (44,648) by John from USA
Jaker20 and webmaster, I completely agree with both of you guys. I think that record sales with zero promotion can really show you where an artist stands. The first week the true fans come out, and the second week, the stability of the sales (or lack thereof) shows the general public's level of interest. That said, even with zero promo and no hit singles, these sales are catastrophic for an artist of Mariah's caliber. I don't care how long she's been in the game and the fact that sales for an artist decline past their prime. Barbra Streisand was long past her prime in 2009 when her album beat out Memoirs and debuted at number 1 with no singles or promo from her. That shows she has a solid fanbase and respect from the general public. Honestly, at this point, I would say Mariah should just let this record flop and go back to the drawing board. I don't see a single saving it, radio isn't going to play it because the album is too plagued with messiness. She needs to deal with whatever personal matters she has, get in better shape (since she always insists on dressing sexy), and have all her ducks in a row before dropping an album. She should know all of this by now, but clearly, she doesn't. It's sad, really. I'm truly embarrassed to be a fan right now. I am a true lamb and will always buy her music, but these sales are ruining her reputation and brand, and ending her career earlier than it had to.

Re: Lambs are dumb (44,647) by Webmaster Eric from the Netherlands
Maybe you didn't understand what other fans are trying to say (or maybe you're just dumb ). Most of us enjoy the music, but we're concerned that if the album flops, there will be no more albums from Mariah in the future. It has nothing to do with the quality of the music. Fans are giving their opinion why the album flopped (lack of promotion, general image of Mariah), but no one says the album flopped because of the music. Saying we should "just shut up and enjoy the music" is not helping Mariah at all.

Lambs are dumb (44,646) by Joseph Pelle from san jose, california
Lambs stfu and quit complaining that she's not promoting the album. She was on David Letterman to promote it, she was on the WMA to promote it, she blew up Times Square with her image on every screen. She threw a gala for the Fresh Air Fund, she had an NBC special and she opened the Today Show concert and each time she performed different songs so wtf are you all talking about that she isn't promoting the album? You're all just a bunch of delusional negative nancies. Just appreciate the album for what it is, who cares about sales? Enjoy the music and just let it be. Why every one have to be so superficial? If Mariah doesn't care why do you all care how she promotes it? Just shut up and enjoy the music. Keep calm and cary on.

Flop album that has no single (44,645) by jaker20 from US
I think at this point, we all know she's not that invested on this album, or her career for that matter. She's just giving throaways, some of which previous album rejects, and then not promote it. The promo is horrific, easily the worse in her entire career. The first week reflect fan sales, the second week reflect general public. The former shows many of her fans have abandoned her. The latter shows her image to the general public is in the gutter. So disappointing, but quite honestly, given her demeanor these past few years, not entire surprised. I feared this would be the case, but I didn't know reception would be this bad.

I think Nick has a lot to do with all this (44,644) by jaker20 from US
I'm pretty sure Nick is right there behind her saying "in the end, it doesn't matter, we have each other". Is it a coincidence that since Nick her career, image, work ethic, and body, has gone off the rails? I don't think so. The fact he can shoot many MC's music videos is testament to his enormous influence on her career and decisions. I still honestly believe Nick is jealous of her career and success, and is trying to tank her career. Well, I guess now he's succeeded. I got to step away for awhile it's just upsetting. The last 5 years has been a downer as an MC fan.

MIAM versions (44,643) by Miguel from México
I went on a road trip all the way from where I live to Tucson, AZ to support first week sales. Anyways, I bought a couple of copies at Target. I noticed when I played it in my car, the screen doesn't show the tracklist nor the cover. Since I only bought Target exclusive editions, I wonder if the same thing happens with the other editions of the cd. Loved it, by the way. I drove 7 hours and it was totally worth it. Too bad it didn't do well on the charts. My friend (not a Mariah lover nor hater) actually liked the album and even signs to a couple of songs.

Mariah will leave the label (44,642) by Andrew crisostomo from Canada, niagara falls
If the album was terrible I'd understand the low sales of the album. But the album is great so I'm sure she'll leave. But also this is a different age of how music gets out. You hear the same 10 songs on the radio and can be a YouTube hit without being on radio. Love the album though. Dedicated is my song.

Betcha Gon' Know remix (44,641) by Shezz from Pk
Other than all the bewilderings brewing around I still get extremely baffled when I hear the lyrics that R Kelly sings on the song. It's like they are singing 2 different songs. If MC spent years perfecting this album, how she let this slide is beyond me. If I shut my brain off and listen I like the song but the song is supposed to be about how she finds her man with another woman in her own bedroom. I think R is talking about another night or another woman.

Something amiss (44,638) by Randy from USA
You know something is wrong when our wonderful webmaster goes off about this era. Let me say this. A couple of fans wanted to say that this wasn't a "get me off this label" album. But the longer we watch this, that's clearly what this is. I don't care about promotion either but wouldn't MC at least put some attempt at promotion, like get people to come to her for interviews etc? She has a great relationship with all the talk shows. So I think this is something purposeful. In addition, I wonder if you all have seen Jermaine's latest reaction to lambs blowing up his twitter about her promoting the drink and not the album. "Okay enough is enough. I can’t continue to let you think, what you see or don’t see is a result of me not knowing what I’m doing, this is bigger than me and in the music business things don’t go as fast as you would always like them to, if you know my history, you know I want to go down as one of the greatest produces of all times, I want to be mentioned with the greats like berry Gordy and Clive Davis when people talk about putting out artist, so for me, allowing you to believe I don’t care about the promotion of the Mariah record and I don’t see you screaming at me, that this song and that song needs to be a single, goes against everything that I’m about, believe me. Everything that you question will be answered ASAP." That lets you know something is going on we don't know about.

Here we go again (44,637) by Alex from England
Remember when some of you had completely lost faith in Mariah's new album and thought it would be a train wreck and then when it was released you were like "she still got it, it's her best album since TEOM" etc etc? Well, I had never lost faith and was one of those people who assumed they didn't know everything that was happening behind the scenes. Fast forward to today. Does any of you really think that Mariah doesn't care about an album that she'd been working on for like 4 years? Do you actually think she doesn't care about it slipping dramatically down the Hot 100? 1. It seems like a video was or is being/will be filmed for YDKWTD, which can only mean the promo is not over yet or could potentially start soon. 2. Mariah has had no control over the singles she's wanted to release for years and she still doesn't like most artists who are tied to a label and a record company. 3. Being a mom, she's probably never gonna do as much promo as she used to. Not saying that I'm glad with how little promo we've gotten so far as we all agree there should more. 4. The album is one of her best, at least a lot of critics and most importantly fans seem to think so. So while everyone is complaining about this, that, the other, I'm gonna keep playing that album on repeat and just revel in the incredible music she's given us once again. Last but not least, I just don't get fans who say she'd better quit if she's not gonna promote her albums. Are we fans of the music or the charts?

What's going on? (44,636) by Jamie from UK
I really am loosing patience with Mariah, the music is great, so why are we getting a half hearted effort from her? Considering this took her so long to complete, it's like she's just abandoned it. Nobody wants water from you, we have Evian for that. This whole persona is not working anymore, people do not like that side of you. It was quirky in 2001 during Glitter but now it's just ridiculous. By now you should be a respected artist, doing great live shows etc. But I think you need to wake up as everybody else has. For somebody of your calibre people should be saying I can't wait for the next Mariah album, but all their doing is wondering what happened to you. I know you say your early days weren't the real you, but you never acted this way in the Daydream era or even Butterfly when you said you were free, even in TEOM and E=MC2 era people really respected you and you could sense that when you performed live, so why act this way now? Stand up and be noticed again for the rare talent that you are and not for this silly behaviour that is now unfortunately bigger than your music. I will always be a fan, but if I could sit you down and tell you what you really need to do believe me I would, as for the people around you their not doing you any good at all. Rant over.

Is a change coming? (44,634) by Will from Australia
I found it very interesting that Mariah attended that silly drink press conference in much more suitable attire than we've seen in quite a while, I mean she wore a diva gown to the bloody playground before. I wonder if it's beginning to sink in that the public ain't buying the chanteuse diva image. Or if it's a case of that's Mariah the business woman and the other is Mariah the singer. Either way I hope a change is gonna come. On another note, the gloves. I think she has suffered nerve damage from either the fall or something else. She usually always has her right hand covered, sometimes both and in the video for You're Mine she puts her right hand to her hair/face and there is a strange shaking going on with it. Has anyone else noticed that?

YDKWTD single (44,633) by Jono from USA
So is this no longer a single and is the promotion done for this album? It's a shame. I don't really listen to radio (because pop music has turned awful), but having done it the past couple of weeks to see how Mariah would compare, YDKWTD would sound so fricking fresh. No joke. Even though this has a throwback feel, it would sound so unique in between the autotune dance tracks and the hipster mumford and sons sounding songs. Mariah and co, please don't blow this opportunity. As lambs we're not expecting TEOM level success, but for people to know that MIAM exists. YDKWTD is the type of mass appeal song that people of all ages would like.

Baffled and bewildered (44,632) by Marissa from USA
The more time goes on, the less I understand Mariah and her decisions and I think that's why she's lost a huge chunk of her fanbase. Why the hell would you put out an album that was 5 years in the making and barely promote it before and after the album dropped? Why put so much effort into a project and watch it flop without trying to save it? I don't only support MC when she's commercially successful, but the reason I want her to be is because this is a wonderful album deserving of success. No one wants to see a quality album flopping worldwide because barely anyone knows it exists/cares. She drops the best album since TEOM and this is when she decides to "put a wall up and walk away" from promotion. The "I have 18 #1 hits and I write all my songs" thing is not going to work for promotion or hype anymore. Once people find out her last hit was in '08 they write her off as irrelevant. Welcome to the world. The GP has a "what have you done for me lately" mentality no matter how extraordinary your accomplishments were in the past. Now some drinks? This is like watching a train wreck. Like someone said, if they aren't buying your album they damn sure aren't buying your drink. I too am feeling like maybe MC is doing some things to chase the $ sign like this new drink line and even American Idol when she said for years that she couldn't see herself being a judge on that show. I love MC, but it's increasingly difficult to support a person you are straight up confused by.
