Re: most Nos.1 title to Natalie (37,437) by jaker20 from US
I think Brad's point is very very valid. A lot of people resent hearing that from the artist themselves. Let the records and facts speak for themselves. Billboard and other music writers bring this up whenever the discussion is there. But to bring that up on your own marketing is just too corny and self-centered. Besides at this point, MC should be concentrating on quality not quantity. And also, the record is for solo artist, there is still one to break and that is The Beatles. When MC hit no.1 with TMB to break Elvis, MC and her marketing used the title so extensively, and immediately after that, radio immediately completely abandoned her. Once she's broken The Beatles' record, then yes. But right now, they need to be stealthy about it in marketing MC. Look at Rihanna, she and her team does not brag about the fact that she's got most no.1 in the past 10 years, and this will be her key into breaking not only MC but also The Beatles, slowly and quietly. Her destination is not MC, but The Beatles. Brad's post makes a lot of sense. This is not the first time this subject has been brought up. Anyway, no point talking about this now, most posters here believe MC's best is over, she does not need anymore no.1s, so let's just leave it at that.

Mariah and airplay/illuminati (37,435) by Nattalie from USA
You know, I find all of you a little funny. I think Mariah's team is doing the absolute best that they can. Have you guys not realized the foolery within the industry? Mariah has not sold herself out guys and we should be proud. Other artist have. None of you guys have even mentioned about who gets played and why, you all focus on the fact that Mariah is not getting played. Have you all thought of the practice of payola is happening within the industry? I believe it exist more than it ever has today. Why everytime I turn on the TV I hear the same exact song on the radio and it sucks and it goes to number 1? Today Beyonce just came out with a song called Bow Down. It starts off great but it sucks over all. But watch it go to the top. Look at Rhiana, people like her gets to the top and she aint no good guys. She sells herself. She is a product, not a singer or a person like Mariah. Same for Gaga, she is a product, not a person. They don't move the industry, the industry moves them. Also guys look at who is always being played on the radio and is always on the screen. Music industry is not the same competition as it used to be back in the day. Back then, you had to be great and it wasn't about your looks. Back then there were many great artist that became well known even when race was an issue, we still had a chance to hear the greats of that day in time. But today, nope. We are brainwashed and only able to hear the select few that they allow us to hear, knowning that there are many great singers out there in the world today as we can see, through American Idol and other shows. But guess what, where are most of these singers today? When I turn on the urban stations all I hear is Beyonce, Rhianna, Jayz, Lil Wayne, Kanye, and the rest of that same group. And that's basically the radio. It's sad, because when I talk to others and their music, those people is all they know. Even if they remixed old songs, they would never know who made the original first or even care.

I'm not trying to hunt you down, but I know you did not just come up on a Mariah Carey fan site to tell us that she needs to not claim her own well deserved title. That's like saying since Michael Jackson is dead, we no long have to refer him as the King of Pop. Boy, get out of here.

Mariah and music (37,432) by Nattalie from USA
You guys are over reacting. Mariah being on American Idol is the best thing since she was discovered. I bet you all that. I'm for sure that her new album comes out, it will go to the top no doubt about it. Guys, the reason why Almost Home didn't make it to the top is because the song sucks. It's a Disney song, not a Mariah song. Her lyrics are the only thing good about it. It's over produced and nothing like a Mariah Carey song. When Mariah releases her new real stuff that on her real CD, it will be classic Mariah that is for all of us, not some of us. Songs like Triumphant and Almost Home is not a mutual song. So many people don't like that electronic club bouncing song. I prefer the rap but not everyone wants to hear a rap song. But one thing we all agree on, is that we all simply love Mariah and when she brings just Mariah to the table, all will be amazing.

Brad, I completely agree (37,431) by jaker20 from US
I think MC should drop the "all-time records" and "most no.1" in her marketing. It actually make her look old. Let the facts speak for themselves, not put it on the fact of everyone. Also, when she's on AI, she's not as natural. I want to see the Mariah we see on YouTube where's she's more fun and speaks her mind. Anyway Brad, our post is the kind of post that I hope to see more here, honest and constructive. I mean come on, everytime someone gives a suggestion they are labeled know-it-all. We care for MC, that's why we do this, at the end of the day we can't control her. But that doesn't mean we should not suggest. I believe lack of suggestion leads to apathy and call for action, which I think results of not caring that much either way what happens to her.

Not once did I say Nick was to blame for Almost Home. I never said that. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I am saying that Almost Home can be attributed to the failure of her management, who don't know what to do with her or how to market a song in today's age. My bringing up Nick was about her past failures, and it's not without basis. Nick has not done 3 or 4 videos for MC and they all failed to make any impact. How many more will he get involved into before she figures out there's work and there's personal life? I am by no means telling anybody or Mariah what to do. Of course I don't have all the answers to save the world. I am simply stating what is happening to MC's career, which is, as long as Nick is involved in her next promos, and she's with the same management, there's not a lot of hope. We learn from mistakes, right?

Mariah Carey Dreams (37,429) by Ryan from the Philippines
I'm just a little curious seeing her photos on Facebook captioned "Dreams" or something that has to do with the word. Is it a hint for the new album (track or album title per se)? So excited.

Webmaster: It always surprises me that some fans only post messages, but never read the news. Or else you would know that Dreams is the name of her new fragrance: New fragrance "Dreams" launched

A word to our MC (37,428) by Brad from USA
Hi lambs. I hope we are all being well and caring toward others. I think there are a few dynamics at play that MC could take action on that might place her in a better position to gain radio acceptance of her material which, in turn, could affect its commercial success. 1) I think she should drop the mantra of "most successful female recording artist, etc". I think people resent hearing it and don't necessarily want to think of her as being able to eclipse the Beatles with her #1's. If it happens, it happens but let people know you sing for the merit of the material, not just to have another #1 hit. 2) Do a radio campaign, be "hungry" again and connect with radio programmers. If they feel you are listening to them and are appreciative, they are more likely to put your material on air. 3) Use AI to allow audiences to get to know you in a new and real way. One can dress and primp like a diva and have a very real, down-to-earth heart of gold, which Mariah does possess. However, when she gets the chance to speak, I think she should be less careful with her words and speak more directly from the heart, even if it could be interpreted as being critical of the contestants. These are just my opinions on these matters but I think in addressing them MC could enable more people to see all the wonderful qualities in her that we perceive.

Musical success (37,427) by RadChad from United States
I agree with everyone saying we need to just enjoy her music and be thankful for her legacy and longevity. However, in my opinion, Mariah's lack of success with her lastest two singles is due to radio is not playing her songs like they use to. Ever since she last hit number 1 with TMB, it seems that radio stopped playing her as much. A few thoughts that came across my mind were: is it that the industry doesn't want her to break the Beatles record so they boycotted her music, or is it the fact that's she in her early forties now? Who really knows? The only way for Mariah to beat these odds is to have a well promoted undeniable hit song. Then the stations would have no excuse not to play it. I'm just looking forward to great material. I truly believe that if she has the right material and promotion, her new era could be a huge comeback which would be beyond legendary for her career.

The artistry of Mimi (37,426) by Robby from Norway
I so agree with what others are writing here. "Let's just enjoy the music. Be festive and be very thankful that our dear MC is still visible." It's about longevity dahlingss. Her first album was released June 12, 1990 (How can I forget? It's our country's Independence Day.) and still, she is very active, not just as a singer, but as a producer, actress, endorser, TV personality, etc. I am very sure, there will be a big hit coming. There will be another "One Sweet Day" and "We Belong Together" alike coming. Let us just wait patiently and enjoy every moment we see our Mimi in AI. After all, she is the only biggest selling female artist of all time and we love her.

Flop and future (37,425) by JBfly from USA
You all need to relax and breathe. You all know that Mariah has been in the music business for almost 25 years now, right? And you all know that there's always going to be new up and coming new artist, right? You all know that the public taste in music changes, right? You all know that records and sales are meant to be broken some day, right? As a fan since the beginning, I want her to get as much number one songs and sell the most albums, but I've come to terms that it'll be harder for her now to achieve all of this as you grow older in the music industry. I do believe that Mariah can still hit the top in the right moment and right time just like she did with TEOM. Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Adele and Lady Gaga (though I think she reached her peak too soon) are the "it" female artist right now. I want to see if any of them will still be around 25 years from now (with maybe the exception of Adele) and be somewhat still relevant in the music world. I'm just thankful that Mariah is still around and give us fans music to listen, sing, dance and enjoy whether it be number one or number 1000 on the charts.

Just enjoy the music (37,423) by Zachary from Croatia
You people think and overthink to much - just enjoy her music. Number ones, hits, money? Who cares about that? I like her music because it's helping my soul and not some charts and all that drama. Me, my car, road, Mariah music - that is all I need. God Bless. Hug from Croatia.

I'm also a bit worried (37,422) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I think the descussion about who is to blame for Mariah's two flops recently, is all about finding something to blame. Isnt it just obvious that she isnt that popular anymore. She still has her fans, and I'm one of them, but the masses aren't that into her anymore. I don't think that has anything with her music being bad, but maybe because ther are other competitors out there now, young in prime of their careers. Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Britney, that's hard competition. Even Madonna is somehow more successfull these days. I'm worried about her next album, I think I will enjoy it, but I don't think the masses will. Yes, maybe it will be on the top of the Billboard top 200 album chart, but I don't expect it to contain to many hits. Don't use time on blaming someone, maybe she will have a comeback like David Bowie. But I hope it will happen sooner.

Worried about Mariah Carey (37,421) by Andrew Lo from Philippines
While I don't really want to entertain the idea of her being a flop, I must admit that worry is not even the word to describe it. I am concerned and alarmed about her music. I understand all the family drama and she wants to become a better mom and better wife and all the drama. But I hope she doesn't forget that she has her career that does not take off by its own self and plays itself on the radio or buys itself on iTunes. I hate feeling this way towards her because I have so much respect for her music. But she's just dropping these songs like bombs. And the worst, they don't explode. Doesn't she feel alarmed that she could not even break into the Hot 100? She is Mariah Carey. It's either her songs are shitty or she's just too damn tired to even care about her fans going loco over her flop songs. I know, she has got nothing to prove anymore, given that, so why would she even release 2 songs? So she releases songs and would not care if they flop or drop like eggs? She doesn't realise that people make fun of her entire career because her latest songs bombed and let's face it - awkwardly dumbing. This started from Obssessed. And all went downhill. I have high respect for her and I am truly a lamb by heart, and that is why I am concerned. Alarmed. If she is tired, then stop releasing music. It may be better. Just come back when you feel like you have the right material that the world will bring their respect back to your music. I am frustrated. And heart-broken.

I didn't attack you at all. I simply stated an opinion just like you. I happen to think my response to you was way classier than what I really wanted to type. You're blaming Nick for how Almost Home is doing and he had nothing to do with Almost Home. Lol. Since you have all the solutions to her problems, I expect to see you and everyone else who has all these great ideas at Mariah's doorstep with your plans. I'll wait lol.

Edward re: a little bit worried (37,418) by jaker20 from US
You should be worried. She's now have two consecutive massive flops, and this coming off the time when she's constantly visible on television. Triumphant also came out when she's in the media regarding Idol auditions, and I bet she released it to take advantage of the exposure. But that didn't work as well. There is a big problem. And the big problem is her management. This is the same I posted before, but instead of discussions I was attacked for being a know-it-all. Fact is, her musical career is on freefall. MC is surrounded by the wrong people. She needs to get out of her comfort zone and be with creative people, not Randy and her husband. Sorry, this is my opinion. Her husband has no resume nor talent to get involved in her career. Stay out of her office basically, like the rest of the people in the world. Sure she can do whatever she wants, I'm just stating my opinion, that every single time he gets involved, she flops. Every time. As for her management, they don't know what to do with her. They've not been able to update her image and her songs, and do not know how to work in the current music landscape. When I say music landscape, not just sales, because that time is over. There are many avenues too long to post here.

A little bit worried (37,417) by Edward from USA
I'm worried that with all the media sites and the internet at her disposition, Mariah hasn't been able to bring any attention to her last two efforts (Triumphant and Almost Home). I agree with whoever said the music industry doesn't promote the way they did ten years ago. Now we have Facebook, Instagram, and more straight to the point, Twitter. As I mentioned before, Lady Gaga twitted her fans to check out on Tamar Braxton's new single Love And War, and the single propelled to No. 1 on iTunes for a few days. As for Mariah, she's not selling or being played that much. Mariah hasn't sung "Almost Home" in any TV show, and she did Triumphant only once, but it was the less popular hip hop version of it and it wasn't actually stellar. Since the media sites are not doing the work, Mariah need to go out there and promote should she want to have a chance at bringing attention to her new album. I have the feeling it is going to be a great album, but if people don't get to know about it through airplay and TV promotion, I'm afraid we won't be hearing anything new from Mariah in many years.

Being realistic (37,416) by nikki from usa
I don't know how anyone could expect promotion from a decade ago. The sales aren't the same anymore in the industry all around, no one gets the promo from 10 years ago, most of the platforms don't exist anymore. MTV is nothing but reality shows and record stores are virtually non-existent. The only promotion these days is by the artist being seen and social media. Cross promotion is the way to go. Realistically, Triumphant couldn't have been a "success" to the degree fans here are indicating, because it was released to urban radio only and made immediately available to download. But, that didn't stop it from ruling the dance chart. This new one was a bit weird, because it was a Disney production, which is known for building momentum for their productions months in advance. For some reason this was rushed. They didn't even announce it coming out until 3 weeks before it was supposed to premiere. The music video is usually a promotional tool and it makes no sense to hold off the release until the movie's out. Disney seemed to drop the ball on this, but that has nothing to do with Mariah's album. All Mariah's top selling albums have one thing in common besides the covers, they all took over a year to make. So, this is promising. I have to say, since MCArchives came out, we go through a loop on how much Mariah's changed, her dressing style, her career being over, her personality, if her boobs are real or not. It's been a long time since we discussed that last one.

Fans (37,415) by Danny Cedar from uk
I honestly do not get all of this "oh I'm not the hardcore fan I used to be" or "I dont listen to MC like I used to" I have read on here lately. Why are people feeling the need to say this? It's irrelevant. If you're no longer the fan you were, fine, but you really don't need to waste your time logging in and writing a post about it. A fan grows with the artist and the reason we became a fan of Mariah is much more than just the music and MC has plenty more loving lambs.

Haha, I was nervous too. I thought, oh the media is going to have a field day with this if MC shows up late. She was over an hour late to the concert I attended. So, I'm glad she is taking this seriously and to hear she talked with Curtis Finch for a time afterwards, waiting to speak with him after the show wrapped, shows how much she really cares about these contestants. Mariah is a diva with her diva ways, lol, but it's nice to see this side of her, the side that was present when she was trying to break into the record business. She understands what these contestants are going through and hasn't forgotten that point in her life. She's a diva, but this AI experience is showing there is a person behind that diva-ness. Know what I mean? Being late for a live show when you're getting paid that much is unacceptable. Pay me that much money and I'll be on time, lol.

There's no denying there's room for improvement with MC's professional team. I've felt IDJ lost interest as her label a long time ago. If it were up to me, she'd be on another label right now, backed by a team that promotes like crazy. But it isn't up to me. It's up to Mariah. When she wants change, we'll see it, but currently her focus really seems to be on her family. I mean yes, she's recording an album which is good, and she still has work ethic, I'm just saying she doesn't seem to be the working machine that she was from 1990-2001. I can understand why, honestly I can't recall ever seeing her as relaxed. I'm kind of in wait and see re the new album we'll see what kind of decisions they make for it closer to the release date. As much as I'd like to see change as a fan who wants to see her backed and promoted well, I have zero control over what happens, so no point in stressing over it. Lol I'm not nearly as attached to her having #1 singles and albums as I was back in 1995. Yes, I want her work to succeed, but she'll always be my favorite singer of all time whether or not the new album takes off. It would be nice if AH got better promo, but it doesn't change my enjoyment of the song. IMHO nobody out there sells the way it used to be possible to. I'm just hoping the quality on the new album is really good, and so far things sound as if the quality of the music is being emphasized.
