Re: One thing Mariah does that pisses me off (89,039) (89,044)

I think she doesn't like certain songs from Charmbracelet like Through The Rain because Lyor Cohen and other executives demanded she make them to address the events of 2001. I think she would've preferred making an album like TEOM instead which is exactly what she did once Reid took over. She praises My Saving Grace, I Only Wanted, The One, and Yours. She praises songs that weren't commercial successful like The Roof and Breakdown.

That's a screen cap from the video. It's wild that Shawni is in the original video the whole time and Mimi chose to, or was required to sit on their remix this whole time.

She does have to better re-enact her songs, in order to recreate the records.

Yes, I saw that post of the three of them last night. I wish they'd record a diet of Patti's If You Asked Me To.

One thing Mariah does that pisses me off (89,039)
by Randy from USA

Diehards go here with me for a moment. I hate that when MC doesn't have a commercial success she downplays the genius of her work. For example, with Glitter. If you remember the Charmbracelet interviews, she said "Oh it was a soundtrack, a concept record and it came out in September 11th." My whole thing is Glitter is a strong record, lyrically and vocally. It wasn't until you guys started Justice For Glitter that she even went back to it. She threw it away because the mainstream threw it away. So here's what brings me to this post. She did it again with the Genius interview, which I just saw. She talked badly about Through The Rain, stating that the album Charmbracelet didn't do well because the record company wanted to go with a woe is me moment in selecting that song. Through The Rain is one of her best records lyrically and vocally and the video is perfection. So because something isn't successful it's somehow less than? Some of her number ones aren't that great to me. And I've stated on here recently that you all hate Bye Bye because of it being selected as a single but not based on whether or not it is a good song. Mariah has agreed with you all in interviews. My point, how can you hate on your own creations when your asked about commercial disappointment? No one is ever going to have as much success as you had so there were bound to be some valleys. Love the songs and realize there is no magic formula for a number one or else every artist would have them all the time. And music would be dull.

GML video (89,036)
by Dove from United States
| |
|

You guys know how they used the footage from AIWFCIY for the Miss You Most at Christmas Time video? Someone should use the footage for With You for GML. I would do it myself but I don't know how. The With You video fits way better with GML IMO. Just remove the parts where she's lip syncing in the car.
While you're at it, if someone knows how to do this and is willing, make a video for Underneath the Stars using footage from ABMB video and Daydream tour Tokyo concert. Make the concert footage grainy.

Personally, I would've went with Caution, Giving Me Life, or 8th Grade but I'm not going to complain about Epic choosing A No No as the second single. I'm still confused why Epic released the Stefflon Don remix if the Shawni remix was already in the bag. Still loving the album.

It could be her upper register, but to me it just sounds like a wind instrument too. However Mariah's always had a knack for sneaking in high notes here and there most times very faintly in the background until it sounds like a wind instrument like on "When You Believe" she warbles an adlib before the harmony fade out of the song. Gotta love her. Lol.

This is amazing, Celine as always exudes confidence and you can see that inner peace and contentment within herself at this point of her life. I really do hope Mariah will reach that too.

All over the place (89,027)
by george golden from uk

A No No is not a great single. She can have a hundred cut and paste remixes but it's going nowhere. Why doesn't she want to sing with relevant artists of the moment? It's just silly. If I was her management, GTFO should have been the original first single with a great video and a radio friendly version, The Distance with Justin Bieber would have been the second single. Then just in time for summer we would have GML as the third single with a great video. 8th Grade would be the fourth single with a great video. I don't know what is happening to this era. She is just all over the place. It's such a shame she might become the artist with the most number ones and also the artist with the most flops.

Giving me life (89,026)
by Rene from US

A guy just posted on Facebook of how he loves this song and that Mariah should make a video for it. It is my fav on this album. I love the Eddie Murphy sample and the lyrics especially the Norma Jean part. The guitar break gives me life. The high notes sound like she is getting life from the one he is singing to. Ha ha. Mariah gives me life with this track. it sounds sexy and I want to make a baby with this song. What do you all think?

Even though it is more or less a cut in paste - Mariah hasn't added much except the whistles, Shawni's rap seems interesting and adds to the song. I like it better than the first remix for sure. Interesting that she was there for the video yet they had to shoot additional footage for SD and add her on to the video and release that first. It's not the dream remix we were hoping for but it isn't bad at all.

Shawni's version is better. Why do I have a feeling that the remix featuring Shawni was done before the remix featuring Stefflon Don. Ain't no way Mariah reshot scenes with Shawni for the video. Why not just put both SD and Shawni on the track together? Whack ass record company decisions. Like how is SD supposed to feel? I guess she can continue to shot and wine with Sean Paul, lol. That song is my favorite at that moment. Anyways, don't matter who you put on track the song ain't going no where. That's too bad because the video is visually stunning and different.

Did she say what, if anything she is taking? But yeah, many performers wear wigs to protect from the wear and tear of a tour. Not to mention hair often thins with aging.

Well, I'm off to go see our MC in a few hours. I hope the audience makes it a festive time for her. (Though it may be snowing outside during the show - bleakosity.) I will do my best with my own mini ensemble changes during the show. I like the new remix of A No No and accompanying video. It sort of seems like this was the one originally intended. There's something there that we will have to read Mariah's autobiography to find out. Anyhow, love seeing Mariah's "godmother" hanging with her in Philly, just like back in the daaaay. Be well to yourself and those around you.
