No Drug Like Me and The Distance (88,989) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines Those who love The Distance out there will likely also enjoy this new offering from Carly Rae Jepsen released last February. Both songs start ethereally, and by the time the beat kicks in, it hits you almost as hard as how the rubbery and elastic beat of The Distance does every time. Both songs share a similar progression as well. If her 2015 album E-mo-tion is to go by, Carly knows and understands pure pop just as well as, maybe even better than Taylor Swift does. Mariah is well regarded in R&B and urban circles, and within the black community. Mariah also gets a lot of love in South America and from hispanic communities. A majority of lambs that do YouTube reviews of her songs tend to be minorities as well. And she is still beloved in Asian countries like the Philippines. Most rappers and players in hip-hop circles also have mad love for Mariah. Another thing to keep in mind is that we often view ideals like beauty and respectability through a white lens. Institutions like Rolling Stone and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame aren't necessarily looking at Mariah's popularity in South America, Africa and Asia when they make their lists and nominees. So I will grant you the fact that when it comes to white institutions, Mariah is definitely not as high up the list as Madonna. But if we pause to consider other perspectives, I think you'll find that she's just as loved and respected. (Thursday 4 April 2019; 02:33)

Poor Mimi called them up from the deep, but they don't go easy. Speaking of the tethered, Anthony is speaking up. He's professional, nice even. He makes it plain that Stella and crew were greedy money and attention seekers. I still think there's at least one still in payroll, lol. What you are saying Mariah is depended on, is quite normal for people to be depended on. If Mariah drinks to much wine, or smoke some weed, that is totally normal. In the case of other superstars, the dependencies have become so severe, they have become clinically depressed or died. So, Andrew, how come you have turned in to this person who believes he is the holder of the truth, and firmly believes that other people who believes differently are delusional. This is, arguably, highly innacurate or just not true. Mariah, from several sources, is rumoured to be, or have been, addicted to alcohol, weed and/or prescription drugs. She is an alcoholic, of that much everyone can be certain, as obviously constantly evidenced. The weed is rumoured not only from sources that have known her personally but also from fans waiting for her. It also explains the drastic vocal degradation of somebody who doesnt even sing much but instead lip syncs. As for the prescription drugs, she looked pretty whacked out in the Christmas tour reading from an autocue. This is merely conjecture here but I question why it was needed if she were not so out-of-it, which she appeared to be. That she probably allowed herself to indulge in all of this to a point where somebody has materials on her which could end her career isn't necessarily "holding it together". And in relation to comparing her to Madonna: Madonna isn't the butt of jokes and I would say has a lot more respect than Mariah anywhere and forever. That Mariah released Caution and it got better reviews that she normally gets is great. But let's not run away with that and use it to pretend like everything is fine and dandy Chez Carey. However, that the Stella years of fruitcakeness are now over, the lambs themselves can certainly allow themselves a small sigh of relief. Perhaps, not a huge one. (Wednesday 3 April 2019; 13:46)

Bye Bye (88,970) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines If we are being completely honest, about 90% of the hate on this song comes from the fact that it was released by the label (apparently against Mariah's wishes) as an attempt to duplicate the It's Like That - We Belong Together upbeat then ballad one-two punch strategy that has so successfully worked for TEOM, forgetting that Touch My Body wasn't an upbeat but a mid-tempo hit, so following it up with another mid-tempo finger-snapping, watered and dumbed-down version of One Sweet Day was not ideal at all. 2008-2009 was a time when the popularity of similarly styled R&B-lite songs such as Chris Brown's With You and Rihanna's Take A Bow were dying to make way for the electropop reign of Gaga and Ke$ha. Bye Bye did have potential, but not as a second single, especially when Migrate and Cruise Control were around and begging for a release. Back to the point - Bye Bye was hated mostly for "killing" E=MC2's momentum and is more often than not unfairly judge based on that rather than its own merits as a song. It's actually a cute track about loss for the younger 2008 audience, lyrically genuinely affecting at some parts and cringe-worthy in others. Bye Bye did not kill Mariah's chances of a 19th #1 - the label did, as did Mariah's romance with Nick at the time to some degree, which we really can't hate because that eventually gave us Roc & Roe almost 3 years later.
