Re: With You plus A No No (87,888) (87,906) by B from USA
Wait, wasn't I called delusional when I said could see With You following a trajectory similiar to Pink's Who Knew or Camilla's Havanna, lol. Guess everyone who wrote this era off because With You didn't storm the Billboard charts the week it debuted are eating crow at the moment.

That's not a bash, it's facts. Well fact or opinion, I agree with you.

She did great. I also love her Bond song License to Kill, classic. I grew up listening to her around the house etc. How intriguing if you are just being introduced to her music. Check YouTube for her rendition of Oh Holy Night it's a whole production and extravaganza. I love a singer with confidence and command of her instrument.

Re: Gladys Knight (87,893) (87,903) by RibbonB from USA
Yes the controversy was wack. But I won't go into a long post about why I think so. Gladys certainly has a right to her opinion and she is a legend who can still "sang". And have you been watching Nick's new show the Masked Singer? She is definitely the Bee mask. I would know that distinctive voice anywhere. If your didn't see her song the anthem, it's on YouTube along with the Masked performance of Sia's Chandelier. She bodied that song and I never used to like it, but I would buy a Gladys cover.

After some years of backlash, I actually am tempted to believe that they have to tone the show down. Maybe next year something completely different, and bring a more intimate atmosphere, and then I actually think Mariah could have done a great job. If she rehearsed, or made some pretty good playback vocals, she could bring intimicy with Hero, and We Belong Together, and some energy with Make It Happen and #Beautiful.

I said I didn't feel the halftime show. Was Mariah's venue, I was not bashing Mariah by saying that.

It's not cute, it's fact. Go on Reddit to find out how much they've hated it and how they've brigaded to down vote the video. The halftime memes on how NFL and Maroon 5's inability to deliver the petition (which got 1. 5 million petition on change.org, btw) to play Sweet Victory were trending the whole day today.

Re: Andrew (87,899) by Robby from Chicago USA
I thought the messages here would be a little less harsh towards Mariah when Andrew left but it feels like he didn't. Anyway, this is the world we live in now so it would be like take it or leave it. Oh well I will just look forward to seeing her in Chicago this March for the Caution tour.

90sMariah, your explanation is so cute and wrong. Nobody liked his halftime, and that’s the real tea. The worst halftime ever. And the ratings showed that aswell.

Someone here said Mariah is the wrong one for Super Bowl, I will make a post later tonight, explaining exactly why she is the perfect artist for it.

Re: Maroon 5's half-time show (87,879) (87,897) by 90sMariah from SG
I didn't watch the entire thing. FYI, the halftime show by Maroon 5 has a million doe votes, not because it's bad but because they teased and cheated SpongeBob fans. SpongeBob fans on Reddit petitioned for NFL halftime to feature "Sweet Victory", but they did it only for two seconds which angered the fans. The gesture was supposed to honor SpongeBob creator Stephen Hillenberg who died of ALS last year. So that's the real tea.

Oh yes, such a great woman. One of the best. Still so beautiful, classy and what a voice. I've been listening a lot to Gladys and the Pips lately. What a joy to discover all the songs. I've always loved her "Bond song", now I listen to "I feel a song in my heart" every day. So it's nice to hear Gladys also "rocked" the anthem.

Oh please like anyone with half a damn brain would ask Mariah to perform at the Superbowl half time show. Boy bye with that mess. Lay off the yak. We Mariah fans have alot nerve dragging Maroon 5 when Mariah gave the ultimate worst performance in history at the Rocking New Years Eve show.

Re: Gladys Knight (87,886) (87,893) by Licia from USA
I didn't watch, but I was sure she'd kill it. That controversy was bs. Those Instagram and Twitter nitwits who probably have never heard her music dragged her. Although I didn't want her to do it, at the end of the day it was her decision and it didn't make me love her music less. They were so disrespectful.

Agree. In the 90's, the Unplugged album was made to show that Mariah could sing like a goddess. However, in 2019 she can't sing anymore. Another unplugged would be the most embarrasing thing ever.

Coldplay's half time show was amazing. I loved every moment of the production. It's not a venue for every artist. I don't think it's appropriate for Mariah at this moment. I love her, but I don't think it's her venue.

Re: Dreamlover in Saudi Arabia (87,872) (87,889) by We are Lambily from USA
Wow to say that Mariah only sings 10% live in her concerts is a lie even on her worst day. So many people here gotta learn the difference between lipping, singing over a track, dubbing etc. She literally sings every song live, expect for a few high notes here and there. Since nobody else can sing her songs, I don't blame her. I get that the lambily have done a lot for Mariah throughout the years but honestly we are quickly become the fandom that treats their fave the worst. I don't see Celine fans typing lipped or nah over all over live performances since early 2010s. And even though their are plenty videos of Ariana lipping, most of her stans are oblivious to it. You guys are always crying that Mariah doesn't get her roses in the industry but disrespect her worse than her enemies. Some days I wish Mariah just forgot us, lived her best live and just focused on her children. And it kills me as I typed that.

With You plus A No No (87,888) by We are Lambily from USA
Billboard just released an article that said With You was promoted to AC and adult r&b. It just reached top 10 on adult contemporary chart. That’s amazing. Her 23rd top 10 on that chart.

We also learned that A No No will be impacting the mainstream R&B/ hiphop & rhythmic radio. This is not the end of the amazing caution.

Ps: Mariah just announced a residency in UK at Royal Albert Hall for 3 nights in May.

Indeed, YouTube is forever and there's enough ropey performances on there (now outnumbering the good pre-1997 performances, because she won't stop touring) to seal her doom without a(nother) televised global catastrophe.

Miss Knight slayed singing the national anthem, despite the little controversy. It's wonderful that at her age she still looks great and sounds wonderful.

Edward, as usual, your response is spot on. I thought Madonna was dull when she was on there which was a shame because I was so excited to see her. I don't think MC could do it, without destroying her legacy, at least not right now. YouTube is forever.

Caution vs Charmbracelet (87,884) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
B your post is the best way to sum things up.

Re: Caution v Charmbracelet (87,878) (87,883) by B from USA
Correction: However, Charmbracelet differs vocally from Butterfly and Caution. Mariah sings 90% of the album in her highly debated (and detested) whisper register whereas on Butterfly and Caution she sings in her head voice and lower registers.

Re: Maroon 5's half-time show (87,877) (87,882) by Edward from USA
Mariah can't take two steps without help, even if Da Brat and Missy carried her on their strong shoulders, it wouldn't work. You have to move your behind and be energetic during the Superbowl, it's about the performance, the energy, the production. At the Superbowl there's no time for whining, you have to move your behind and perform, perform, perform. I believe she has the songs, the remixes for a great Superbowl show, but she's insecure. She doesn't have the voice to rely on in case of a flat performance, she doesn't have the energy, and she doesn't have the showmanship either. I hope she won't ever entertain the idea, even though I'm pretty sure at this stage they wouldn't risk it on her.
