In studio photo op (80,739)
by 90sMariah from SG

I knew it, the photo she tweeted of how she "misses" her "second home" was just an obvious stunt, when in fact she wasn't really doing anything in making new music. She's so full of [censored].

You are so right Tameka. It has been a while for me since I have listened to a complete album from the beginning to end, of course other than Mariah's. Bruno's voice and catchy songs would make you do that.

I sometimes find having to nominate your favourite anything in terms absolute quite a difficult thing and I think you hit the nail on the head almost. I have favourite movies/films. I have a favourite psychological thriller, a favourite comedy and so on (Silence of the Lambs and As Good As It Gets if you're interested lol). And so it has always been with Mariah, such is the amount of my life I have dedicated to her. I have a favourite ballad, a favourite uptempo, a favourite power vocal, a favourite sex song (yup, I've actually stopped sex and said "wait, listen to this bit"). I probably couldn't say there's one ultimate favourite because it depends what you are looking for at that specific time. And so it is with the videos. Agree with you that Touch My Body is the best video for comedy (actually its CTTA - but for different reasons lol). Would offer that Honey is the best for storyline, The Roof the best for making people pause during sex, ILT the best for sophistication and DFAU the best for Mariah looking like she could turn all the gay men across the kingdom straight. Well, it worked on Nick Cannon. Keep having babies, Nick. That'll make the urge go away.

I agree he totally deserved it. I loved that album it was so fresh, Versace on the Floor is a great song one of my faves. He and Mariah would make a definite hit. I hope she works with him.

And she looks so much taller back then. Her voice was unbeatable, and she could do anything with it. Out of this world.

Bruno Mars (80,734)
by Tameka walker from United states

I just want to say that I think Bruno Mars deserved every award that he got at the Grammys. There seems to be a lot of talk that Bruno didn't deserve it or whatever. Let me say this every time over this past year his music was in escapable. I listen to that CD it is off the hook. His music remind me of Michael Jackson. I also think that if Mariah works with him, she could have a hit. But of course she is good in her own right. I really do believe that the Grammys got it right this year. The only thing I would change is that more women should have won too.

I had a very bad week since Friday and watching this makes me smile again. Mariah is so sweet and lovely on that show. Both live songs are pure pleasure to listen to. She's so stunning with such a beautiful soul. Thanks for sharing. I love everything from her debut too.

That tweet did exactly what it was supposed to do which is make them write a whole darn article about it. I thought better of Vogue though. Didn't think they'd be the ones to do it. I guess they had nothing else to write about. Lol.

Everything from the Butterfly era - from Honey to The Roof. Theme, cinematography and production they were filmed beautifully. They were just classy.

Exactly. His first two albums have a lot of bangers that would fit Mariah. It's worth a try. I just want to hear what they could come up with together. Ribbon I agree about Miguel. I'd love for her to explore more with him. I honestly don't care who she works with as long as the music is good.

As Mariah would put it "got foiled" last night at the Grammys ceremony. Sza too and a host of others. Congrats to Alessia Cara for the "Best New Artist" win. This whole award show is just so tired.

"Breakdown" comes to mind first for me, but then again all the Butterfly videos were standouts. Also "Vision of Love" (powerful introduction), "Through the rain", "It's Like that/We belong together" combos and "When You Believe" with the late great Whitney Houston.

Great live video (80,727)

I found this great video on YouTube from the debut era. I had never seen it before. Excuse the awkwardness between Mariah and the host lol, and who knows what is going on at the end with the umbrellas. Mariah sang wonderfully. I've been buried in the debut era so much recently. For the past month all I've listened to is the first album and the singles/remixes. Those 1990 vocals are clear as a bell and her tone never sounded better.

For me if I have to choose Mariah’s best video I would have to say The Roof hands down. She was sexy without trying too hard. It had the 80's vibes and it told a real story. Also Breakdown and Honey are great videos as well to name a few.

I think overall it was ok. It was largely unspectacular but not completely awful. From what I read the ratings were all-time low. It's interesting that Mariah's new year's performance was last year's highest rated musical. It tells you Mariah's name alone, by herself, has the ability to pull in viewers.

Favourite video (80,722)

Fantasy (with no ODB). I love this song. Definitely one of Mariah's greatest songs. I wish she would create melodies like this nowadays (forget the rappers, we need an uptempo song please). That voice, that infectious melody, that rhythm, those jeans. She was defining part of the 90's sound. Everything from Daydream gives me a summer kinda feeling. I also love Always Be My Baby. Simple and iconic videos without the desperate need of looking sexy all the time. 1. Fantasy 2. Always Be My Baby 3. Breakdown 4. I Still Believe / Pure Imagination 5. Dreamlover (Simply lovely. Summer feeling again. Ah, the youth.) 4. The Roof 5. Butterfly (Except some excesive smiling towards the end plus the moment when she feeds the horse with carrots.) 6. Some parts of Shake It Off (Visually, in terms of effects it's one of her best.) 7. Bringin' on the heartbreak 8. Through The Rain 9. Boy (Not a big fan of the song though.) 10. Honey or Heartbreaker

I would suggest they write songs in the vein of his first two albums. Ballads like Grenade and When I Was Your Man.

I agree with a lot of what you said and not that Bruno isn't talented and a great writer. But I don't think that Mimi should try to pull from that particular well.

We Belong Together, DFAU and Touch My Body, or 16, 17 and 18 respectively. She was funny and oozing out her last bit of sexy before babies and what not. From there to I Don't is just Marian's World's apart.

I'd have to agree about Heartbreaker. As Special K said it was just fun and creative. My second is Obsessed. Mariah dressed as a man is something I never thought I'd ever see. It was awesome and funny. I tend to enjoy her videos that show her sense of humor.

My personal favorite is The Roof. It was stunning. An honorable mention, however, is the iconic moment in Honey where MC "sheds her skin" by jumping in the pool to escape.

Heartbreaker hands down. That video has so much creativity and different hilarious scenes. The epic girl fight between Mariah and Brianca is too damn funny along with scene of the lady sitting on the toilet in the bathroom, lol. Also, Mariah was killing it with the choreographed dance moves. Honorable mentions to The Roof, Honey, ILT, Someday and TTR.

Grammys 2018 (80,715)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines

I believe Bruno's sweep is a side effect of what's going on in America right now. 2017 brought to light Trump's reign and the #MeToo / Time's Up movement. Everyone is a little on edge right now. And everyone needed a break - something fun, light and buoyant, if a little shallow and dumbed down. That's what 24K Magic exactly was. it provided a joyous escape, and so people looking for lighter moments turned to that album and its hits as a distraction. When everything else is dark, the lighter ones stand out all the more. Not to discredit 24K Magic - that album, as a step-down it may be for Bruno lyrically and thematically, is still his best work to date due to its lean, sheer, impeccable craftsmanship and cohesion as a body of work. Kendrick's Damn. and Lorde's Melodrama are better and much more deserving, but that isn't to say that Bruno's outing was not competition - it's difficult to pull off a 90s concept album. The Grammys have always been notorious for choosing the safest bets as winners over the years (Christopher Cross, Falling Into You, River: The Joni Letters, 1989, 25) and what happened this year is no different. Even more disappointing are That's What I Like's wins over SZA and Julia Michaels in their respective categories, as well as 24K Magic winning Record of the Year when it's basically a lesser recreation of Uptown Funk. But the biggest disappointment of the night is probably SZA and Julia Michaels losing Best New Artist to Alessia Cara, who released her debut album back in 2015. Oh well. Thankfully, performances by Kendrick, U2, Kesha, Cardi B and Bruno were there to somehow to (unsuccessfully) save the night.
