I think the song is good but here is my honest take on it, I feel that Mariah decided to do this very generic RnB sound just to play ot safe because the song it's for a tv show. I don't watch Empire, so I'm not sure if the song is this way because it is related to the character that she is playing. I believe she wanted to make something that will be appealing to the general public. In my opinion she could have given a little bit more, overall by the end of the song, it seems like something is missing, and that autotune with whatever Jussie was singing or trying to say should have been cut. I won't throw dirt to the song because I definitely think it's much better than Crapfinity (from which I only liked the chorus and final note). "Infamous" has something sexy to it, probably the tone which she sang it with, I like that very much, but I don't find anything in it memorable or catchy, if it was for an album, it would be a filler, a nice filler that is, but still not one to wow unless it gets some arrangements. I listened to it a couple of times but I still can't hum it like I did with "You're Mine" which I did like and enjoyed. I thought the song was going to be horrid after reading some of the reviews here, probably that's why I wasn't sad about it haha. But I've seen a fair amount of positive reviews elsewhere and people on YouTube liking it. To conclude I would say the song needs a bit more of Mariah's pow, that one that is so characteristic of her and was very lackluster in this new song. (Sunday 2 October 2016; 15:05)

Infamous (66,946) by Lee from UK I listened to it once. That was enough. I have no desire to hear it again. What has happened to me? Usually if I don't like a Mariah song (think "You're Mine", "Infinity", "The Art of Letting Go"), I will play it a couple more times and it becomes bearable enough to add to my playlist yet I will almost always skip it when it begins to play. As soon as I hear the strike of the match in "You're Mine" that song gets switched. With "Infamous", I'm not even going to bother putting it on a playlist. (Sunday 2 October 2016; 11:09)

Howard Stern (disgusting sexual remarks). These are the kind of people she needs to have nothing to do with, because they are all f*cking fools. And this why I'm still a little uncomfortable with Stella. She seems to be the type of lady that gets high on revenge and hate. But then again, what do I know? I can only pray she does nothing to Mariah if she ever fires her. But I'm happy that she's with James. Seems to be a good influence (success aspect) and a man with a genuine kind heart. I can hear Mariah singing "I'm a stargirl". The title sums up her life and it sounds like Metorite. Can you imagine a Weeknd and Mariah collaboration? Both are very good with melody. The Weeknd emulates Mariah with his runs. He has his falsetto and she has her breathness/airy voice. What a song that would be on the radio. Radio would eat it up. I swear Starboy is playing every hour on the radio. I predict the following: 1. The Weekend collaboration- first single 2 Released December 2016 - first single 3. Infamous - I like it (66,942) by Matty from Vancouver Canada I like Infamous. Get over the hate and criticism. I agree with everyone on this forum that says, "If you don't like it, cool, but you don't need to ruin for those would do." Her voice gave me One Sweet Day vibes at point and I agree, I love how she used her whistle in an "early days at Sony" way (like on her debut album). Is it a lead single from a new album? No, certainly not. But if this was an album cut, people wouldn't be judging it so hard. I don't like the auto-tune on Jesse. That's my only criticism. But the piano is beautiful, and Mariah's voice is appropriately subtle, especially considering the story line it's meant to reflect (Jamal's still dealing with his shooting). Not to mention the Empire soundtracks all have a vibe and trajectory, and Infamous will flow nicely with that given the first two seasons' soundtracks. (Sunday 2 October 2016; 4:51)

I like Say Somethin' and I'm okay if people don't like it. Infamous, like I said before, not her #1 material but I like it. Some Mariah's songs are slow burner for me. For example, Till The End Of Time, Long Ago and some tracks from Charmbracelet, MoIA and most tracks from MIAMTEC. Still buying Mariah's music from the CBS logo on her cassette era untill now. Infamous (66,938) by Manny from U.S. Since the first time I heard the song, it reminded me of another one. I couldn't pin point it until today. I woke up and I was laying in bed and it hit me. It reminds me of Avril Lavigne's Complicated. The beginning of both songs sounds similar. The melody of the first verse sound alike. Does anyone think that or am I off? I think Infamous is okay. Mariah's parts are most memorable and I've actually been humming or singing little parts of it all day, today which is weird for a song I would say doesn't have a distinct melody line at all. Why you trying so damn hard? (66,935) by Mirage_Nunez from America Well I personally didn't have to listen to Infamous a million times to enjoy it. And even if it did take more than one listen I would disagree that it means the song is bad. I totally disagree with that sentiment in general because I can name several non Mariah songs (and a couple Mariah songs) that I didn't initially like but ended up falling deeply in love with them; becoming classics in my eyes now. The problem here is not the fact that some of you don't like the song and have express valid reasons why. The thing that's bothersome here is how some "fans", (lambs or whatever you consider yourselves) are going out of their way to over exaggeratedly bash the song as if they're indirectly trying to convince others to hate it with them. I mean seriously at worst the song is just okay, it does not deserve an outcry or to be overly bashed at all. Why start a hate campaign? Just say it wasn't your cup of tea and move along. Let other people enjoy the song in peace and stop trying so damn hard to convince people that it's the most terrible thing she ever recorded. That's just plain childish. Some of you act eternally 12 yourselves. As a fan you should be happy somebody else likes the song. Nothing I want to go back to often, but it is ok. I am waiting to really experience it within the context of the show though. I have been sick of Mariah and duets for years now, so I wasn't waiting for anything earth shattering from M. singing with a little boy goat lol. But "Imma" suspend my disbelief for a while and listen to it within the context of the show. Listen, if her acting is bad and the song is bad, I want to be prepared for the onslaught, lol. You just don't shade a legend. Miley is just mad that her fame is over. I think being on "The voice" will give her some relevance but it's not like she's going to have a hit record or win a Grammy. Mariah is a diva so what, so is Aretha, Diana and Patti. She's paid her dues and proven herself as music royalty. Last time I checked Miley doesn't have a "Make it happen", "Anytime you need a friend", "One sweet day" or "Fly like a bird" in her catalog. Her music is garbage. But I also stand by what I said about this song not being Mariah at her full potential. And like I said before I'm not "devastated" by it not being the type I expect (although I didn't expect much from this as I just took it as a bonus song) neither will I have have mini meltdowns over it. I was severely disappointed with "Infinity" because they made it sound like the next big thing then it fell flat. But with this song, I have moved on. However that being said, I do feel like she could have used a better song for this opportunity. But hey what do I know, I'll gladly be slapped with a "I told you so" if this becomes a hit. After all when it comes to Mariah, I'll always root for her to win. As for Jussie having fans, in the words of Randy Jackson, "that will be a no from me". Empire is a very successful show but very few of the singles from the show actually charted. Yes the soundtrack was successful but the singles didn't really make a huge impact. If this song makes a huge impact, it will only be because of Mariah's name and the publicity they are using with Mariah in the snippets. It is however making some impact in Australia where it has become the highest selling single from Empire. As for having "Infamous" quality songs as album cuts, now that's a completely different thing right? This is why album cuts shouldn't be released as singles. Lastly, I also think maybe she should have released the song right after the episode aired for maximum impact. The publicity from the show combined with the anticipation of a new Mariah song would push fans and casual listeners to buy it. Releasing it 1 week in advance kinda kills the momentum.
