I was thinking about the same thing. The song is still achieving small gains on the radio where it's sitting at #2, behind Cheap Thrills. It's currently sitting at #17 on the US iTunes chart and Cheap Thrills is at #11. I'm not sure how its streaming stats are but overall it looks like it's still behind Cheap Thrills.

I actually love this song Giovanni, It has a "cantankerous" beat and I love the way Mariah says "this that the other". The song bears no relation to the image she is showing now days, but it's a cute sentiment. Lol. I can definitely imagine a college band playing this one. Mariah has a few songs that lend themselves well to band arrangements. I can't wait until your Hozier music arrives, so you can give me your critique.

AOLG is definitely too wordy and ill constructed. It sounds like a light weight blues song with fake strings. Now if she had covered BB King's The Thrill Is Gone, she would really have been saying something. Lol. I love these lyrics and it combines a little of Betha Gon Know and I wish You Well. Lol. The thrill is gone The thrill is gone away The thrill is gone baby The thrill is gone away You know you done me wrong baby And you'll be sorry someday The thrill is gone It's gone away from me The thrill is gone baby The thrill is gone away from me Although, I'll still live on But so lonely I'll be The thrill is gone It's gone away for good The thrill is gone baby It's gone away for good Someday I know I'll be open armed baby Just like I know a good man should You know I'm free, free now baby I'm free from your spell Oh I'm free, free, free now I'm free from your spell And now that it's all over All I can do is wish you well

I love Mariah's funny side so much. This video is one of the best. I wonder if she is still in contact with her long time friend Josephine.

TAOLG is a horrible song. There's no cohesive melody, bridge, and it's nonsensical in lyric composition. I can't believe she released that. It's embarrassing. Honestly it's makes me grateful to all the co writers and co producers she's worked with in the 90s to help compose her good music. I just hated all the hype before TAOLG. They built it up to be the next Vanishing and back to form to her earliest albums and it was such a let down. I hate these last several years of half efforts. I rather have less albums but quality music than these repeated attempts to recreate past hits. These kinds of stunts are making her lose her fan base and authenticity

Rachel would be perfect. Mariah just needs to let Rachel have 100% control and then no one can stop her from being a fashionista. I know some people here will now cringe or remark saying "Why is it important to be a fashionista, Mariah is a singer not a model" but we live in a time where visuals are very important. Kylie Jenner with zero talent is getting millions simply because people are obsessed with her fashion, same with Kim. Yes it might not always translate into album sales (like it didn't for JLo) but this is a better way of staying relevant than by drinking and exposing oneself. Plus JLo with her below average songs managed to chart over Mariah's high quality songs. I just can't deal with this. Forget the age factor or that she is a mother, the outfits Mariah mostly wears (leaving aside the exceptions) won't be chic or flattering on anyone.

I agree, Mimi. Mariah needs to hire a stylist. I'd recommend Rachel Zoe. She's able to seamlessly blend classy and edgy.

I like Money. It's silly fun like Get Your Number. I also like Supernatural. I never really cared for The Art Of Letting Go. It's too wordy and the verses are disjointed.

Actually it's her team that's needs to stop enabling her, because how much can the fans really stop her when she doesn't even know what we are talking about? She may have gotten rid of her previous team but she is still surrounded only by "yes men" who are there to benefit themselves by sucking up to Mariah. Not that Mariah isn't responsible for her actions but enabling her is encouraging her to do this more. Her team won't tell her to stop because they love partying and then posting drunk videos on social media thinking it's the best thing to do. Only thing it is doing is damaging Mariah and her reputation further because people already think she is all about splashes and boobs. So ya if she has no access to what the fans are saying, the fans are not responsible for this, it's her team and Mariah herself.

Well she is already in bed with them so to speak, almost, but allegedly not until she marries, if that ever happens, but it seems like a stunt. Lol. Brett just seems like an entitled fat boy, frat boy, rat boy, pick one. He stumbled on a benefactor/business partner and they are working it, or working each other. Best case scenario, they are all friends and business partners, worst case scenario, they are both using the Bra until she drops.

Probably the best documentary on MC (65,247)
by Edouard from France

I think they did 2 versions of this documentary because I saw it a while back and I don't remember it going "so deep" into Mariah's psyche. It is very interesting. I totally relate to her on many levels (overcoming things and learning to just live your life, cause at the end of the day that's really all that you got). TV celebrity documentaries rarely focus on the mindset/emotional life of the people we admire. I feel this one is an honest portrayal of Mariah (to a certain degree of course). Although, when you think about it, only Mariah should present that side of herself. Check it out. Sidenote : Maybe that's the whole point of Mariah's World.

The Art Of Letting Go is awesome, I just had to listen to it again. It could have been a masterpiece if it didn't have silly "kitchen window" lyrics and didn't finish about a minute too early. Why did she write that kitchen window lyric? It's completely insane. It doesn't fit in with the song; you're soaring with the strings and suddenly you're in a bloody kitchen having a domestic. I think she had a few "splashes" that day, haha. In fact, I'd bet the farm on it.

Intervention (65,244)
by Andrew from UK
| |
|

People really need to stop with these cutesy words and silly phrases for Mariah lol it's like painting a watercolour of a car crash. This isn't the "bra era". Mariah doesn't have "splashes". Mariah dresses shamefully and clearly has an alcohol problem (and it clearly is a problem when a vocalist with damaged vocal chords can't say no to alcohol). Anybody else would be severely questioned and interventions staged lol you lot excuse it. No wonder shes gone completely off the rails with you guys enabling her and trying to make everything cutesy. Hah. That's shameful in itself. Dahlings.

Funny you mention the Honey video. Back then I was "shocked" by Honey too. And later Loverboy. But you're right I think she only plays with that. More like a kid that dresses up. Didn't she even mention it on an interview in the past?

Mariah and jazz (65,241)
by MusicfanJ from Germany

To start a subject which has nothing to do with outfits. I always thought Mariah and jazz are a very nice combination. Subtle Invitation and especially The Wind are such good songs. Would you like if Mariah releases a pure jazz album? Who would thought that Lady Gaga did one with Tony Bennett? And I must say I found it pretty cool that Lady Gaga has a liking for jazz.

Yes I noticed that too. And I'm not so happy with the RatPac. Can't say why, there's just a feeling. I hope Mariah still feels comfortable to work with them. If it's a win-win-situation ok everything is fine. But I'm still disappointed with Brett Ratner.

That's the whole point though. She's not really doing anything that she hasn't done before (fashion wise) imo. She's been showing clevage and having splashes since the 90s. Everyone has a different perspective on what deserves a pass or what should be called out. For me she hasn't done anything horrible enough to deserve the kind of ridicule she has received here. I feel that many of her antics have been over exaggerated and blown out of proportion. So yes sometimes worse things do need to be pointed out for the sake of putting everything into proper perspective.

Yes I did, but I will leave your jam alone. Wait, one more thing, does Art Of Letting Go even have a melody? Lol. But whoa, whoa beat go. Roe's ad libs are on par with her mama's already. Hahaha. And Rocky's two octave vocals are already stellar. The real stellar this time. Lol.

To me Stella is Mariah's make up and fashion stylist. Everything you stated makes sense so I pretty much see why Mariah went from fabulous to disastrous. But what I don't understand is how Mariah would think she looks better now than how she did on "American Idol".

Oh no you did not just diss my song RibbonB, lol. Just kidding. I love "The art of letting go". The music, lyrics and Mariah's belting at the end is too good. I highly dislike "Supernatural" because I don't connect with the song. It's too much of a luluby song for me. And "Money" isn't really much of a song in my opinion. There are hardly any lyrics for Mariah. She mainly just repeats the same thing over and over it becomes a snoozefest. I feel this could have easily been replaced. All the songs Mariah recorded yet she goes with "Money"? Also Hozier's album hasn't came yet. But when it does I'll be sure to get back to you.
