French Montana collaboration (55,608)
by Stella Lewis from USA
| |
|
|
Okay, we all know that it was Mariah who popularized and pioneered this "rent a rapper" trend. But at this stage in her career, even if the song is a surprise smash, it will be harder for her to top the charts. Mariah is looking good, but not as hot as she did during the E=MC2 era. She's 5 years shy from turning 50. This is such an age-ist industry, and if she were to make a music video acting like she's still in her 20's with her recent weight gain, people would just pick on her more. Compare this with her Almost Home soundtrack, she looks very elegant and classy in that video. For Mariah to make another number 1 single, that songs needs to have great vocals and lyrics. It needs to be a classy song that makes people actually pay attention to her singing. Her voice has been improving so much throughout her residency, and I would much rather have her work with a vocal coach, and come back out once she's truly ready with an even stronger voice with resonant belts.

Mariah's duets album (55,607)
by Wonwon from Indonesia
| |
|
|
If Mariah really want to make an album full of duets or collaborations, it will be perfect if she puts it into 2 parts. First part, duets with older music legends; Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, George Michael, Aretha Franklin, Celine Dion, James Ingram, Stevie Wonder, Toni Braxton, Lauryn Hills (or Fugess), Dolly Parton, Olivia Newton John, Barbra Straisand, Phil Collins, Madonna, John Bon Jovi (maybe, I know Mariah love him, and John respect Mariah, one time they had the same hair style, lol). And the second part with the younger act today; Justin B, Katy, Beyonce, Gaga, Ariana, Rihanna, Taylor S, that American Idol winner where Mariah come in to (sorry forget the name), Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Key, etc. Make it a double album format. If it also is not selling well, believe me, it will be one classic MC album. Also, Mariah can include, When You Believe, Endless Love, I'll Be There (maybe remake it with new studio version), The Beautiful One. Sorry for my very bad English.

Song from each album (55,605)
by Giovanni from USA
| |
|
|
Mariah Carey - "There's got to be a way" Emotions - "Can't let go" Music Box - "Anytime you need a friend" Daydream - "I am free" Butterfly - "My all" Rainbow - "After tonight" Charmbracelet - "The one" The Emancipation Of Mimi - "Mine again" Me I Am Mariah - "Beautiful Now I am so ready for a brand new song to add to my list. I'm hoping that Mariah's next album will be epic. Her voice has improved so much that she can deliver vocally and put all these lame lesser females to shame. I'm referring to you JLo, Taylor, Becky D, Beyonce and Ariana Grande. Mariah is still the best voice in the music industry.

Not sure if there is any truth to this at all, but I remember seeing something that Mariah cut ties with her because she thought Rancine was going behind her back and telling Nick things. Trust is very important to MC and we all know when she puts that wall up its hard for it to come down. But of course it was just something I read online and you can't always trust what you read.

Seriously out of all the artists today who are actually talented, Justin is the one Mariah picks to do a track with. I'm so disappointed. That guy cannot sing to save his life. *bye Mimi*

B*tch, I'm Mariah (55,602)
by Alexis Morell Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan from USA

This collab will be Mariah's 19th #1. Slay Mimi. No but seriously, if you side eyed Madonna for "B*tch, I'm Madonna" how would this purported collab be any different for Mariah? PS. Chile. Somebody on here just thinks Justin Beiber is a good singer.

To Babe on Fifth Harmony (55,601)
by Amber C from USA
| |
|
|
You are right, Fifth Harmony need help. I have a bone to pick with them. I feel sad for them. I'm very good at predicting the future of these acts, and as I see it the only one who will have a career is Dinah Jane. They need more content at this point in their careers. They should be doing meaningful music, and not just fun music. too much wanna be bubble gum pop, prancing and hair flipping, and generic vocals and songs. We are not in 2004 and this is not the Pussycat Dolls era anymore. This is a full decade later, and their record company does not believe in them at all. If they did they wouldn't be getting this outdated, forgettable material. If they don't take care a real, and legitimate girl group will rise up from the ashes and no one will hear of them again. I feel that time is soon. I loved them on the X Factor, but they have not seemed to mature musically. Their skirts just got shorter. I'm sorry Babe they seem to be stuck in Britney and Pussycat Doll era. On average they are twenty years of age. They can do better.

Mariah and Stella (55,599)
by Amber C from USA
| |
|
|
Well maybe Racine and Mariah were growing apart. Stella seems to have lots in common with Mariah but something tells me she not loyal as Racine. Well Racine was just Mariah's assistant and choreographer, and she wasn't doing her job right, so she had to go. Where as Stella is assistant, publicist, manager, step momb (lol), best friend forever, all in one. But I'm not worried about Stella like I am about this moving to Australia thing majigi.

"Want To Want Me / Dreamlover / Can't Feel My Face / Don't / You Need Me, I Don't Need You / Am I Wrong" (originally by Jason Derulo / Mariah / The Weeknd / Ed Sheeran / Ed Sheeran / Nico & Vinz) [Dinah:] It's too hard to sleep I got the sheets on the floor Nothing on me And I can't take it no more A hundred degrees & just the thought of you Gets me so high, so high [Ally:] Dreamlover come rescue me Take me up take me down Take me anywhere you want to baby now, I need you so desperately Won't you please come around Cause I wanna share forever with you Dreamlover come rescue me Take me up take me down Take me anywhere you want to baby now I need you so desperately Won't you please please [Lauren:] And I know she'll be the death of me, at least we'll both be numb And I know she'll get the best of me, the worst is yet to come All the misery was necessary when we're deep in love Yes I know, yes I know [Camila:] Don't play with my love That heart is so cold All over my home I don't wanna know that babe [x2] Cause you need me, man, I don’t need you, you need me, man, I don’t need you, you need me, man, I don’t need you oh you need me [Normani:] So am I wrong For thinking that we could be something for real? For trying to reach the things that I can't see? Can't see? Thats just how I feel, feel, feel. Thats just how I feel, baby thats just how I feel Long live Fifth Harmony and God bless. No weapon.

A French Montana, Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey, and Detail collaboration just might work. Mariah's recent collaborations with Nas and Fabulous worked because she didn't take a backseat to her feautured guests. As long as this new song isn't Triumphant part two it will work for me.

Bad blood: help end the dis-harmony, be 5H's fairy godmother Mimi, please (55,592)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
| |
|
|
Fifth Harmony is in trouble. And it's really worrying because Ally, Camila, Dinah, Lauren and Normani are such good people and the best of friends. Even though I've only keept tabs on them for a year and a half (?) I've grown attached to them and invested. Which is quite surprising as I am not easily impressed and rather cynical these days. But 5H has a really special energy, they are anointed IMO. In any case I'm putting it out into the universe that they could use a fairy godmother in the music industry and who better than you Mariah? Book them on your European tour next year M, as opening act, cast them in future tv, video and film projects. They're all super talented, intelligent, thoughtful, artistically inclined, original yet cohesive and they are lambs and fans who never fail to show you mad love. They've been working extremely hard for three years, the group's anniversary was just the other day, and gone from strength to strength because of it. Until now that is. All of a sudden, well at least since the BBMA's, there is undeniable tension and lately a heavy sense of doom to where it's become almost unbearable to watch them interact. It's really sad and I'd hate for whomever is the source of the strife and discord to succeed and prosper. Offer your mentorship BTS if nothing else. Maybe this entire post is superfluous and Simon/L.A. already reached out to you. I kinda think (hoping like hell) it's already happened but it can't hurt to put it out here in these e-streets.

RaeRae / Marissa (55,591)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
I too have wondered what has become of RaeRae. She has been around MC like since forever and now suddenly since this year she hasn't been seen with her even worse. I don't know about Stella taking RaeRae's place, but Stella has really turned Mariah's image around and for that I'm really happy that people are now hating on Mariah less. Her image had taken such a downward spiral, I thought it'd be difficult to get it back but Stella managed to do it within a few months and not just that, she has gotten Mariah all over the news (which unfortunately over exposed her love life) but still at least she has so many projects lined up including surprises. After a series of bad managements, Stella and the Chamber's Group has finally gotten Mariah on track and the attention that she deserves as a legend. RaeRae on the other hand only brought hideous choreography in Mariah's shows. She limited Mariah only to the same 3 moves for every song. Anyways, I think someone mentioned earlier on that RaeRae is probably spending time with her daughter who is grown up now. But still no picture at all is a little weird. But oh well. Stella over RaeRae for me.

"The one" song from each album (55,589)

Hi everyone, just for kicks, I thought I would take a moment to look back on MC's amazing catalog and pick out the one song that I would choose to listen to forever if I was limited to one song from each album. These are mine. How about you? Mariah Carey - Someday Emotions - Can't Let Go Music Box - Anytime You Need a Friend Merry Christmas - AIWFCIY Daydream - Fantasy Butterfly - Breakdown Rainbow - Petals Glitter - Last Night a DJ Saved My Life Charmbracelet - Yours The Emancipation of Mimi - Shake It Off E=MC2 - Side Effects Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel - Angels Cry Merry Christmas II You - O Holy Night Me. New song (55,587)
by darrian liu from taiwan
| |
|
|
The one producing it was the one who produced Drunk In Love? It would be wonderful. Some might say it's a dull song compared to Bey's other songs but imo it's one of her richest. It was sultry and sexy and kinda dark. I love it. Plus I love how Bey found her sound right there, hip-hop phrasing with raw vocals. It could be really good, with a more playful twist. I really want another song that's on par with the masterpiece that is Breakdown, although that's probably too much to ask for (since Breakdown is Mariah's is like, the highlight of her career)

Strange collabo (55,586)
by Ardis Logic from Earth

I have to agree this is a strange collaboration. MC, Justin Bieber, and French Montana? I really know nothing about Justin. Just that the younger teen girls are gaga over him. French Montana, I have seen some of his work, and it's just not something that appeals to me. I'm just going to keep an open mind, and see what the end result is. It could end up being pretty good. You never know.

Bieber and Detail (55,584)
by Musti from UK
| |
|
|
My feelings are a bit mixed. Artistically they seem like odd choices. I'm not a fan of Bieber on AIWFCIY (or of him in general), but the song did peak at #86 on Billboard. Detail's biggest song Drunk In Love, in my opinion, is one of the dullest songs in B's entire repertoire, but it peaked at #2. Considering Justin's large fanbase, this song might be a good way of reintroducing her to the younger generation. I don't like that she's working with an all-male crew yet again, but I'll take any new material I get.

Mariah Carey collaborating (55,583)
by Malcolm from Asia
| |
|
|
So there is a Mariah-French-Justin collaboration and it is very exciting. I think if Mariah will release her new album in the next two years, it will be okay, just do a lot of "collaboration". It is a good format for the younger generation to know MC's sound. If she will continue it, I love 5-7 collab with different artists until she is ready to release her new album. I think she must do the collaboration thing constantly, at least once a year. I want MC to collaborate with these artist soon: Zedd & Major Lazer (It will be new for Mariah if she will do an official Electronic - Pop single), Fifth Harmony (remix of "Like Mariah" please), Beyonce (My Ultimate Dream), Lady Gaga, Katy Perry (I bet, it will be a very good pop song and duh, Katy is a Lambily 4lyfe), Ariana Grande (I know, but who knew? For the record, Mariah didn't say anything bad on her, it is just the fans who are always comparing them. Agree or not, Ariana has a beautiful voice, so definitely they will have a wonderful collaboration and also a dream come true for Ari.), Sam Smith (another fantastic collaboration and he is vocal for being a Mariah fan plus they are already communicating), Michael Jackson (If i'm correct they had an unreleased collaboration so I think this is the time to release that in another "posthumous" album of MJ but Mariah must re-record her vocals and add something for it to become a current and fresh song), Madonna (queens, it must need to happen). For you, who are your bets for MC?

Love your post. I always find the relevance discussions amusing to observe, because it's like according to what? You know what I mean? People often talk about Emancipation being a huge comeback or whatever, and I'm not knocking that point of view one bit. It's valid if that's how you feel about it. The whole point is it's all subjective. Yeah, maybe Glitter wasn't a box office smash, but to this day I still think the movie is far more decent than people ever gave Mariah credit for as an actress. The soundtrack is very enjoyable. Maybe Charmbracelet, MOAIA and MIAM didn't do what people expected, but to me, she never "went" anywhere to "comeback" from lol. Things are what they are. You either except it or you don't. It's not about artists competing.

She is still relevant (55,581)
by Jonathan from United States

At my job they only play the top 40 stations with the occasional country station depending on if my boss is there and they played three Mariah songs. They played Alone In Love, Fantasy, and Heartbreaker. It wasn't a throwback moment or anything. They just threw it in there with Ed Sheeran and Nicki Minaj so I think Sony is doing something right by getting Mariah back in the publics intrest. You might expect Fantasy or Heartbreaker but Alone In Love completely took me by suprise. 2015 is Mariah's year. She looks great, Vegas went great, Beacon coming up, making two movies, new music, starring in the loney island movie set for 2016, rumored song with Madonna, Katy, and Britney (I don't know how that would sound but who cares) and a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. What else does she have up her sleeve?
