Love both versions, cannot believe it's available on iTunes. Very happy lamb today.

Mimi's Valentines Day mix (extended) (97,392) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
I mentioned that I enjoyed the performance on Kelly, and Ryan. This extended mix is just an extra treat for me. Thank you Mariah once again for all the great musical gifts that you have been blessing us with I am truly grateful.

MC Tunecore distribution (97,391) by The Real Deal from USA
I noticed that WBT Late Night Mix is distributed through Tunecore. Does this mean that she is an independent artist now, releasing music on her own, going forward? Sony does not use Tunecore to distribute their music. Tunecore is an independent artist distribution site.

Re: WBT Mimi's Late Night Valentine's Mix (extended) (97,387) (97,390) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I just appreciate her creative direction with it. After being served so many no-mixes in the last decade I have pretty much accepted that she no longer has it in her to make a decent remix. This time though, she actually managed to bring something interesting to an overly familiar track. A little on the indulgent side with the length, and it does threaten to overstay its welcome a few times, but these extended mixes from her are rarely slow, so I guess that adds to the appeal.

As for her voice, the cutting and pasting of different takes seems to really become more obvious as she ages, no? She still sounds fine, but the razor sharp edge her voice has acquired with time is more worrying than pleasant. I can see how her flitting in, out and between different registers is more jarring than usual, but it seems like this is yet another installment in her vocal evolution. Droplet singles since 2014 have shown this happening. Caution cemented it. She seems to be doing the best with what she currently has. Now if only she can do them live. Her musical instincts, especially when it comes to her melodic choices and improvisations, are stil very much intact, even if her instrument isn't as up for the challenges as it was even a decade ago.

WBT Valentine's mix (97,389) by Lee from UK
I enjoyed the new arrangement but you can't convince me any of that was performed live. You can even hear the auto tune in several places. My wish for Mariah's next album is that she would record songs she can sing live.

Re: Raindream? (97,359) (97,388) by Warren from Trinidad & Tobago
Does anyone maybe think the dark hair, the all black, covered up and clunky black shoes with metal studs seems like it's a rock and roll vibe? Maybe the Ugly Daughter era ironically - because she looks anything but.

Re: WBT Mimi's Late Night Valentine's Mix (extended) (97,381) (97,387) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
It’s okay. I find it quite unsettling. The music lends itself to lounge relaxation but her voice jumping from low scratch to belt to soft head to high whistle every other line puts me on edge. But I can see why the extended mix is liked.

In other news, Mariah has musicians with her? I may be wrong but until recently she did not. If this is a new turn of events they are likely with her to record new material, one would think.

Derek Jeter being the DJ in Last Night a DJ Saved My Life is brilliant fan theory haha. Maybe that's why she chose it.

You’re Mine late Night Valentine Mix (97,385) by T from USA
You're Mine Eternal would sound amazing with a mini late night Valentine mix. Wasn't there an extended version originally? That song would sound so groovy and fresh in this this atmosphere.

I just heard it. The improvising is amazing. Mimi reminds [me] of Phyllis Hyman in 1987.

WBT Mimi's Late Night Valentine's Mix (extended) (97,381) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Best re-working of a track she's done in over a decade, since the leaked H.A.T.E.U. remix that incorporated My Boo.

Re: Charmbracelet era (97,376) (97,379) by Stacey from USA
CB was my first MC concert. She came through So Cal once but I wasn't able to go. Then she announced more tour dates and I grabbed a ticket for the final concert of the tour right before Christmas. 15 rows back, dead center. It was so cool. She sounded amazing. I'll never forget it.

Re: Charmbracelet era (97,357) (97,376) by Mara from United States
I totally 100% agree. Charmbracelet was the first tour I was able to see Mariah perform live during and the live vocals made all the CB songs sound so much better. I believe it was during a time when there were reports that Mariah recorded them in the whisper register to make it easier to perform them live and boy did she succeed. The live versions were so much better. My dream to this day is to hear Through The Rain recorded in full voice. Either way it's so beautiful but I'd love a real recording of it in full vocals.

Side note though, the Valentine's special of WBT and her look was so beyond amazing. The whole thing worked and was so organic and just "different" for Mariah. It's almost like she is setting us up for something. The dark hair, the all black. I loved everything. Her arrangement of the song with the vocals were so fresh and once again I wouldn't be surprised if other artists follow in her footsteps and revisit their past hits and re-do them so to speak. Is it me or did she look so relaxed youthful with her moves and singing style. I loved it. Everything about it. I also loved the snippet on her cookie promo of "My Funny Valentine". I will forever be an advocate for an all Jazz MC album. I really wish she would consider doing one.

Re: Valentines mix (97,374) (97,375) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
Good you enjoyed it. Hold on a second, though: it is lipped the whole way through. Do we really get excited because pre-recorded, engineered vocals sound good? Sets the bar quite low, perhaps.

Re: Valentines mix (97,370) (97,374) by Aliya from Canada
It's the best performance she has done in a long, long time. I'm blown away. Wow, quarantine really did help repair her voice. It's incredible, and I love to see that confidence in her. I'm going to show this performance to literally everyone I know.

Re: Raindream? (97,362) (97,373) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
She done already done had herses. Gurl, this show is brilliant, m'kay. This is making lockdown funny and fun. I'm currently caught up with RuPaul's Drag Race US and UK so I'm bingeing the latest Allstars and there's a queen called Mariah who literally as I'm watching on Netflix just got voted off as I'm typing this.

It is quite really bizarre watching someone called Mariah that isn't Mariah Carey. It's as bizarre as a drag queen or anybody calling themselves Madonna or Cher. Mariah is a one word, one person name. That being said I thought Mariah Paris Balenciaga was pretty shite and Shea Coulee has to win. But whatever happens, the Cracker needs to go.

Valentines mix (97,370) by We are lambily from USA
Wow, I'm in completely awe of Mariah, that performance is one of my faves. I literally can't stop replaying it. The arrangement, the vocals, the agility, the groovy and jazzy feeling, this type of setting does wonder to her voice. The fact that she did the first verse better than 05 too and the second verse didn't get enough praise for me. I hope we get more of these moments. Don't know if you have heard of the tiny desk home concert "Start with Jazmine Sullivan" it would be perfect for Mariah. Mariah is without no doubt the most talented artist ever. Her confidence is growing and she is getting comfortable with her voice again. This new era will be everything.
